I know LG&T and PJ only want me around so they'll look even skinnier compared to me.
Let's say I'll never recommend anyone does a 30 hour journey with a "mobile" baby. Very young immobile baby: fine. 18 month old who likes to watch telly: fine. 11 month old baby who doesn't understand why she has to sit on your lap for hours whilst the pilot keeps seat belt light on due to non-existent turbulence: no farkin' way. I was actually delirious with fatigue when I got into my house. The walls and floor started to move around.
Otherwise, the rest of the holiday was fab. The first bit, in Hamilton Island was the real "holiday" bit and it's a shame we had to do that first, rather than last. The Whitsundays are so beautiful and the island we stayed on was almost like a big private resort, so really safe. Everyone drove around in golf buggies, even the locals. Great food. Beautiful beaches and pools and good restaurants. DH has an ex-client we saw in Sydney who moors his yacht there three months a year (we later found out) and said we could use it if we ever went again - we'd just have to hire his skipper, but when I saw the yacht (we talking sailing boat rather than P-Diddy styleee) I was thinking "not with kids". Can't see how you could relax on deck with kids running about ready to go overboard at any moment.
Did lots of family stuff in Melbourne after that, then off to Sydney. A was sick for a week just after DH left Sydney (ear infection, then bad reaction to anti-biotics), which was not great, but I spent lots of time with my friend, which was the whole point of going to Sydney in the first place. We had a whole year of talking to catch up on. I was really sad to leave her. I was really glad to get home though. I'm a home bird at heart. It's no bother to me to move, but I like to put down roots when I get somewhere so a month of moving about from place to place made me quite anxious to get home by the end. My friend is hoping to come back here for a long holiday next summer and after that, I think I could face the trip again when the kids are two and three and understand when it's time to sit down and so on.
Did I mention I don't like cockroaches? I got some in my dinner at a restaurant one night and after DH left I had some huuuuuge buggers to deal with. In fact I found one ON MY HIP the night DH left. Yeuch. Panic. I had to get very brave, very quickly.
So I managed to actually keep up with what's been going on whilst I was away, and have fallen behind since I've been home. What have I missed?
I start my second maternity leave next Monday...
A STILL cruising, so well done to all the babies who are walking. She's been refusing to "let go" for almost three months now. She has a really good sense of danger though. She goes up stairs and despite showing her 10 times a day how to come down the two steps to the kitchen, feet first on her belly, she won't try it. One fall off the top was enough to put her off. I think the walking won't come until she has lots of confidence in standing alone, which she's only tried once or twice so far.
Pregnancy going well. I generally don't feel pregnant most of the time, except at night when I get restless limbs (which may be due to low iron - am getting it checked next week) and starting to get a little breathless now my lungs are getting squished.
