Hi belated Happy birthday Tilly and Happy Birthday Callum for Monday in case I don't get back on in time. Hi TYG hope you had a good time, don't forget to post us some pics of your glam wedding. Very green of meet up you lot. Not fair. [sulks and pouts emoticon]

charleymouse · 04/05/2008 00:05

glad to hear you got on okay at consultants LG&T

MKG · 04/05/2008 00:05

Charley--wanna share my blow-up dolls?

charleymouse · 04/05/2008 00:11

congrats on your PSB moment today MKG and glad to see your "proper" name back.

Nicely sidestepped the blow up dolls issue there I think

charleymouse · 04/05/2008 00:17

Just wondered where you could keep them then thought if they were filled with helium you could tether them and just let them float up to the ceiling when you weren't up to company MKG. Woohoo on the weight loss. Still trying here although have slipped a bit as having a few takeaways whilst trying to get the new house ship shape and ready for moving in.

charleymouse · 04/05/2008 00:19

Have to say in principle can see the logic behind blow up dolls although not quite sure about a love-ewe!! Think they may just be for country folk.

Get off my land!

largeginandtonic · 04/05/2008 08:06

OH i was drunk. My head is a bit sore, it was worth it

TYG? > holiday details please.

largeginandtonic · 04/05/2008 08:13

and you all think i am rude

(Helium what a good idea)

ShowOfHands · 04/05/2008 10:53

Thank the good Lord above that TYG is back. Natural order can resume. Now, details...

MKG (glad the name's back), go Cruz!

Charley, good to see you.

LG&T, you fecking lush you. I'm going to delight in seeing you and PJ absolutely blotto. Shall photograph you and put pictures on my profile. Told DH about the sword/truncheon fight that is expected and he got all excited thinking that somebody's interested in his uniform and paraphernalia (I can only muster a 'yes dear, very nice' as he parades it round the house for the 17th time).

Had a farking horrid bank holiday weekend so far. Mathilda has gastroenterfeckinitis. She has vomited no less than 14 times in the last day, every item of clothing we own is covered, plus the rugs, throws, cushions, cot, bed, towels and walls have all been redecorated. The washing machine is permanently on, M is grizzly and I think DH has caught it. We were supposed to be going to an 88th birthday party today but I don't think a stomach bug is the sort of present our dear ol' friend envisaged. PJ, I have been carrying the anxious baton this weekend so hopefully that means all is well chez ScouseBird.

Going here tomorrow. Please note it has pigs. There's a Norfolk food fair being held there tomorrow. DH is extraordinarily excited about a 'rare breeds sausage bbq' that's happening. I seem to think that these breeds wouldn't be quite so rare if we stopped turning them into sausages. It's my favourite museum. Admit it, you're all jealous. You all want to go to a 'museum of Norfolk life' too. It's actually fabulous. Random fact: DH took me on our first date to see Show Of Hands (of course) at this very museum.

Tomorrow it is 9 years since DH had the misfortune to stumble into my life, Wednesday it is 3 years since he made an honest woman of me and Saturday it's a year since the world was turned upside down.

MKG · 04/05/2008 14:44

OK so Cruz is not as cool as I thought he was. This little rascal. He knows we get so excited to see him take steps. Well now he pulls himself up. Stands on his own, looks at us and falls down laughing. I think he's just saying, "OK you've seen me do it, now leave me alone and let me get on with my life".

The poor kid pooped in his sleep, didn't wake up, and this morning he woke up caked in poop and everything was bright red. But nothing like an early morning bath to brighten his spirits.

elkiedee · 04/05/2008 22:01

Happy birthday Arlen for tomorrow.

There's a museum of Norfolk life SOH? I was just saying to dp and friends at D's birthday picnic today that maybe we ought to take D to Norfolk to get some taste of his cultural inheritance (dp and his parents all come from the area around Kings Lynn) and several people assured me that Norfolk has no such thing! Where is the museum?

We're considering taking him to a farm tomorrow if we can get the energy together, but it's a city farm in North London - there's a fair on there.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 05/05/2008 08:46

Elkidee... think you may be a month out on Arlens B'day wishes. Some of our "May" babies were very
impatient.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CALLUM........ 1 today!! OMG, I can't believe we are doing this, it is just not possible. Saturday will be a year since I was jumping on a Trampoline with my BF here. May have had something to do with J being born a few days after?

TYG, wooo Hooo you are back!! tales of your journeys required please.

SOH, poor M hope she is better soon.

lg&t PMSL.....

Yay for the MKG name being back.

Have not been hiding all weekend, have been ill. My dear husband gave me his throat infection, I have now managed to get out of bed, still can not swallow and the hot flushes!.... Oh my, The worse thing is I think J may have it too now. We are off for a mother and daughter rendez-vous a midi chez le docteur!! The best thing is....... I can't eat and have lost all my holiday gain and more.

twelveyeargap · 05/05/2008 15:23

I know LG&T and PJ only want me around so they'll look even skinnier compared to me.

Let's say I'll never recommend anyone does a 30 hour journey with a "mobile" baby. Very young immobile baby: fine. 18 month old who likes to watch telly: fine. 11 month old baby who doesn't understand why she has to sit on your lap for hours whilst the pilot keeps seat belt light on due to non-existent turbulence: no farkin' way. I was actually delirious with fatigue when I got into my house. The walls and floor started to move around.

Otherwise, the rest of the holiday was fab. The first bit, in Hamilton Island was the real "holiday" bit and it's a shame we had to do that first, rather than last. The Whitsundays are so beautiful and the island we stayed on was almost like a big private resort, so really safe. Everyone drove around in golf buggies, even the locals. Great food. Beautiful beaches and pools and good restaurants. DH has an ex-client we saw in Sydney who moors his yacht there three months a year (we later found out) and said we could use it if we ever went again - we'd just have to hire his skipper, but when I saw the yacht (we talking sailing boat rather than P-Diddy styleee) I was thinking "not with kids". Can't see how you could relax on deck with kids running about ready to go overboard at any moment.

Did lots of family stuff in Melbourne after that, then off to Sydney. A was sick for a week just after DH left Sydney (ear infection, then bad reaction to anti-biotics), which was not great, but I spent lots of time with my friend, which was the whole point of going to Sydney in the first place. We had a whole year of talking to catch up on. I was really sad to leave her. I was really glad to get home though. I'm a home bird at heart. It's no bother to me to move, but I like to put down roots when I get somewhere so a month of moving about from place to place made me quite anxious to get home by the end. My friend is hoping to come back here for a long holiday next summer and after that, I think I could face the trip again when the kids are two and three and understand when it's time to sit down and so on.

Did I mention I don't like cockroaches? I got some in my dinner at a restaurant one night and after DH left I had some huuuuuge buggers to deal with. In fact I found one ON MY HIP the night DH left. Yeuch. Panic. I had to get very brave, very quickly.

So I managed to actually keep up with what's been going on whilst I was away, and have fallen behind since I've been home. What have I missed?

I start my second maternity leave next Monday...

A STILL cruising, so well done to all the babies who are walking. She's been refusing to "let go" for almost three months now. She has a really good sense of danger though. She goes up stairs and despite showing her 10 times a day how to come down the two steps to the kitchen, feet first on her belly, she won't try it. One fall off the top was enough to put her off. I think the walking won't come until she has lots of confidence in standing alone, which she's only tried once or twice so far.

Pregnancy going well. I generally don't feel pregnant most of the time, except at night when I get restless limbs (which may be due to low iron - am getting it checked next week) and starting to get a little breathless now my lungs are getting squished.

twelveyeargap · 05/05/2008 15:34

Oh, SOH, S has gastroenteritis when she was about 8 months. You have my sympathy. All I can say is that it passes in a couple of days. Just offer breastmilk and/ or dioralyte. It's all you can do unfortunately. .

largeginandtonic · 05/05/2008 16:02

I am so glad you are home safe and sound. I can imagine the hell on the plane, poor you. The holiday sounds great, i am very of you. How was the wedding?

You must come for a visit, you have not even clapped eyes on SOH or Pink! We will all be bump so be prepared for lots of tummy touching Especially as it is a little boy in there.

Have you got to avoid the antibiotics for A in the future? The boat trip borrow sounds blimmin lovely, just leave the children with me and have a lovely hol on your own with dh (or a book!) you may need it in a few years...

How many weeks are you now? You and Sky are not far apart are you?

Happy birthday Callum! Another turning one, flippin eck!

I am tired, have been driving for hours to get the children in the blardy caravan full roads. I am also bleeding again i bled after the Colposcopy for 2 days, i went. I had some dodgy (tmi tmi) for a couple of days, went to the doc and got anti b's. Bleeding started (assumed it was period) and it had just started tailing off 2 days ago. Woke up yesterday morning and had a couple of clots (tiny) and now am fresh red blood bleeding again!!! wtf IS going on I am knackered and sure it is because i have been bleeding for 3 fecking weeks now. Anyone got any answers?

Madamejaffa · 05/05/2008 18:19

Lg&t, sorry no answers, but I do hope you feel better soon. Could be worth a chat to your gp again about the bleeding though. It probably is that making you feel so tired.

TYG, sounds like you had a lovely trip except for the plane. See your point, must have been a nightmare, it's hard enough to get them to sit still for 20 mins in a waiting room.
Glad you had a nice catch up with your friend.
at the cockroaches

I forgot it was Bank Holiday there today. Ours was on Thursday, The French take the 1st off and the 8th May for Armistice. Most take a pont day on the Friday giving them a nice Thurs - Mon break. Next week H&M have Mon, Tues and Fri at school....worth it? they are off on the Monday after too.

As I thought I have Alix's throat infection and now 6 days of antibiotics, J's throat is red but not infected luckily yet eeeek

I have updated my profile pictures and included the meet ones finally.

elkiedee · 05/05/2008 18:44

Oops sorry, I knew there was a baby born today a year ago and misread the list in a hurry, I was quite tired at the time I posted that. Hope Callum had a lovely birthday.

AbbyLou · 05/05/2008 20:21

Hi guys, hope you've all had a good bank holiday.
TYG very jealous of your hol, it sounds divine.
SOH soory M is poorly, C had it at about 5 months and it was hell. You have my sympathies.
LGT, no answers to your problem I'm afraid. Maybe worth another visit to the GP though I suppose.
We've had a lovely weekend. We went down to Harpenden to stay with some friends on Saturday night and the kids had a great time playing with their lo who is 18 months. They spent most of the time playing in the garden. Friends dh is into geo-caching so we went out on Saturday and Sunday to find caches. Dh is seriously getting into it and C thought it was so exciting going to look for treasure. Today we have been to Calke Abbey. We are NT members so often go for days out just to walk and kick the ball about. They had a craft fair on today as well. We've all had so much fresh air this weekend and the weather has been beautiful. I know I will sleep well tonight.

Pinkjenny · 06/05/2008 09:54

Belated Happy Birthday to Callum - laptop playing up and couldn't get on.

SOH - poor M - I'm right there with you, quietly freaking out . Hope she's on the mend now.

TYG - fab to have you back. Plane journey sounds, er, like fun. Thanks for bringing the weather back with you.

LG & T - lush.

We've had a lovely bank holiday weekend. Went into Manchester at the weekend with mum and dh for a spot of holiday shopping. L was in her Baby Bjorn and had a fab time being carried around by daddy. She was majorly hyper yesterday, very strange. She just hates her pram. I'm hoping I won't be carrying a twelve year old around in a sling.

Sleep update - no change.

twelveyeargap · 06/05/2008 12:02

LG&T - I remember my friend saying that very odd things happened after her colposcopy re: bleeding and a sort of watery substance leaking out of her! However, I think in these cases, it's always good to put your mind at ease and speak to the GP.

How is Phin?

I got a letter from the doctor in Australia to show to my GP to say what kind of reaction she had. Just a rash isn't usually anything to worry about, but she kept waking up screaming in the night, really screaming, so I suspect she was having pains somewhere. It happened to me once, with one particular kind of anti-biotic. I got horrid pains in my kidneys. The doctor in Australia said that it doesn't mean she's "allergic" to penicillin necessarily, as a fully allergic reaction would have caused her breathing problems and a trip to the hospital, but we may need to be careful whilst she's a baby about what antibiotics we give her. When she's older, she'll probably deal with it fine. Will speak to a GP here and see what they say and take it from there. Fingers crossed she won't need another dose for a long time. S only ever had one or two antibiotics that I can remember. Once for gastroenteritis, which was pointless, because she didn't keep any of it down, and I think one other time. Obviously inherited my steely immune system.

I'm er 28 weeks. I have something on for the last three weekends of May; Granddad's silver wedding (2nd marriage), S's birthday, then A's birthday so that will keep me busy this month at least. I'm getting a bit bored of being fat.

PJ - I'm not sure how desperate you are about the sleep situation, but Mars advertises a sleep counsellor on her website. (It's someone she knows personally, I think.) I'm sure they can do consultations over the phone. www.thebabymoon.co.uk/sleep.htm I personally, recommend this book. As I'm sure I've said before, I think some children are happy just to go with the flow, but I have a child who goes absolutely bonkers if we fall off her routine, but is an angel if we stick to it. I think once you work out what kind of child you have and go with that. (Which fits with what SOH was saying about her taking cues from M. It's just that M sets the speed for SOH, whereas A seems to really need me to plan her day for her.)

MadameJB - I hope you don't come down with a lurgy! How are the children today?

Pinkjenny · 06/05/2008 12:10

Hi TYG - to be honest I'm trying to relax about it, because its really stressing me out. She is getting in with me really early now and I'm watching tv in bed. Which I know isn't the answer either. I really admire SOH and how she is so responsive to M's needs but I find other people's views really cloud my perception of the situation with A. Will order that book though. Don't really want to go to bed at 8pm every night!

Poor A - what a nightmare for you all. Glad you managed to have a lovely holiday though.

SKYTVADDICT · 06/05/2008 13:03

Happy birthday to Ruby, Aidan and Samuel for tomorrow in case I don't get on again.

Callum had a great birthday thanks. Weather was great and we ended up sitting in the garden all afternoon with people visiting.

I am 26 weeks now so only two weeks behind TYG.

Sorry to hear about your probs LG&T, hope the GP can get it sorted for you.
