Stick with it Pink

Pinkjenny · 30/04/2008 20:58

I'm back with catastrophic thinking. Is it normal for babies to have a couple of 'off days', she's been so unsettled, even during the day and when she is in bed with us at night.

Eating normally etc .

Bensonbluebird · 30/04/2008 20:58

LG&T-Glad the consultant went well. Hope you are feeling a bit better too.
I'm a complete crock ATM - still got some abdominal separation (it was only ever a couple of cms but it's still there), think I need to go and get some physio for that. I also have a sore tail bone which I think is from feeding A sitting up in bed. I haven't done that for ages but still have a sore tail and I have a sore foot and every now and again it feels like my pelvis is going to fall apart.....

Lups - hope you get some more info from your doctor, must be worrying (which probably doesn't help!)

A took his first steps on Sunday, only a couple and then he fell down a hole! (we were at the allotment). I don't think he quite realised what he was doing as he hasn't done it again. He does wave and clap and has 5 words: cat, mummy, up, ball and bottle (?! he isn't talking about milk). The other day DS1 said 'I'm sitting on the sofa drinking beer all day' I'm glowing with pride. I think he was talking about the sip of my ginger beer that he had in a cafe recently. At least I hope so.

Bensonbluebird · 30/04/2008 21:03

AM! you did say you were thinking of it!

Oh yes, A has size 3 feet but is hugely tall. No idea how much he weighs (no scales in this hooose) but will measure him on his birthday.

AprilMeadow · 30/04/2008 21:13

was thinking about it in 3/4yrs time, certainly not now!

Yay to A on his first steps

Ladies, advice please. I am worrying. So much for the fecking anxiety management bollocks.

SKYTVADDICT · 30/04/2008 21:31

Hi PJ

They all do have off days - could she be getting more teeth? Cal been a bit clingy tonight and we don't know why.

Cal is a 4G but we still haven't got him shoes - we are going to try on Saturday.

DD2 been poorly for a few days but went back to school today and swimming tonight - she has fallen asleep early tonight without me even saying good night

Cal can clap (only this week), wave, point, say "gone", cruise round furniture but still won't go to sleep without being rocked - it is funny how they are all so different.

TillyScoutsmum · 30/04/2008 21:36

PJ - they do have off days... Til is usually so chilled but has been a right whinge bag the last couple of days. I think it might be more teeth.... The separation anxiety thing is really kicking in as well

If she's eating ok, doesn't have a very high temperature and her nappies are ok, then there shouldn't be anything to worry about

Take it easy x

AprilMeadow · 30/04/2008 21:37

Hi Pink, could she be teething? Ella gets really clingy and has problems settling when she is getting a new tooth (she says that given that we only have 2!!). Is she hungry? Have you tried giving her calpol just in case she is feeling a bit poorly..? I know its not the best thing to do, but whenever i cant get E to settle i try that and cross my fingers. dont know if that helps at all...

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 30/04/2008 21:55

PJ, she's fine. It will be teeth, separation anxiety or a milestone moment (like just sbout to crawl/walk/talk etc- makes Tilda very cross and 'off'). Could also be a bit under the weather. She has a primitive and highly functioning survival instinct. If it was anything untoward she'd have let you know. My best coping mechanism is to firmly tell myself that I am her Mum and she needs me to be calm and together. Repeat the facts to yourself. No temperature, eating well, nappies fine. Stay focused on what she is (well if grumpy) and try to banish thoughts of what could be. Sometimes it even works.

I know how hard you find it. Am there in spirit.

Tilly- saw 'the bottle' thread and was duly horrified.

Lupins71 · 01/05/2008 08:46

BB wow at the steps and the talking, ope you get your sore bits sorted soon

PJ they deffo have off days, dd still gets them at 5 and so do you and I it is perfectly normal, I must say that it was ds being unsettled that made us take the decision to stop the co sleeping, last night e woke up about 3am i thougt e would settle wit us but infact he didnt and went straight off to sleep when i put him back in his cot, they are funny little beasties bless 'em

A is a 2.5G but wearing a 3 because of his high, chubby feet, he as clapped but only twice and i dont think he knew what he was doing, and he says mama and has just started saying dada but that one is more sounding out rather than a clear word, no walking yet but i keep reminding myself he is 2 months ahead in age, altho im sure his weight is correct for his age - hate to think what he will be, mum said he is starting to look like me more,oh and he clearly understands no and spit

Have the lady i was chatting to from ebay coming round today and her dd and tomorrow i ave my friend from reading arriving with her 2 dd's one of which was dd's best friend at school so shhe is mega excited

The 1st day on the slimming patch has been very impressive, long may it continue, I didnt snack at all (my biggest sin) ate no chocolate and didnt even fancy any, but by dinner time i was peckish but only ate half of what i would normally have and today have had weetabix altho I didnt feel hungry i know its not sensible to starve myself, I will just be pleased if they can stop the snacking in the chocolate cuboard, and i walked all the way to tavi yesterday and after a long walk the day before my hips sure are feeling it

Looking forward to work tnite, and i get my 1st paypacket tomorrow, a cute little brown envelope thats ALL MINE!! seen some lovely shoes - in clarks of all places £55 so might go and blow my whole pay packet on shoes - oh how sex in the city

Right suppose i out to go and do someting - at least get us dressed rather than sitting here wittering on which is what i would rather do

Lupins71 · 01/05/2008 08:47

Oh and had a mega hot flush this morning I was sweating ,hope the blood test tells them something

Bensonbluebird · 01/05/2008 10:02

Lups - Blowing your pay packet on shoes and dreaming of NY... you are such a glamourpuss!

Pinkjenny · 01/05/2008 11:17

Thanks for the advice ladies, partic SOH - you always calm me down. Am thinking I need to crash the LG & T and SOH meet up. Couldn't settle her at all at half nine, so just got into bed with her. She was still fidgeting around like a loon though most of the night.

She's definitely cutting another tooth - her 6th! - so am hoping its just that at the moment. She also says 'gone', 'yeah' and 'what' quite a lot, but still no clapping and minimal waving.

Have just spent £150 on crap for her birthday party, i.e. plates, bowls, hats, blah blah blah. So ridiculous. And we keep saying, 'but we don't want to spoil her'.

Have decided I hate work. Still working on the 'new baby plan' with dh. I think he's coming round to the idea.

Lupins71 · 01/05/2008 11:31

Me glamourpuss - no it is a dream,i live in cow poo with walking boots, jeans and sweatshirts, no make up and my hair is lucky to see a hairbrush let alone the straightners - even tho really i should not be seen unstraightened

PJ glad you have calmed dowm a bit

largeginandtonic · 01/05/2008 11:49

Calm down Pink, she is fine. i insist you come and stay. I will start hounding on the phone soon ya know. SOH is gonna love your accent (that is her thing you know )

I missed the bottle thread, link me please!

SOH it was the bath in the kinky dungeon dont worry. Yours was as pure as the driven snow

Lups blow it on shoes, link please so we can look too.

I have just been suggling a lovely 5 week old called Daisy. I am almost broody again....

AM now what the bejesus happened? How long are you away for and when can you test? I will expect a text please >

my screen has gone all sepia, whats that about?

Pinkjenny · 01/05/2008 11:54

I'm just trying to work out how I could get to you. 5 and a half hours with a wriggly baby on a train does not seem that attractive. But maybe if I left really early I could get L to sleep all the way?

largeginandtonic · 01/05/2008 12:11

She will be enthralled with the excitment of the train. It will be fine. SOH took a million hours to get here from 'the sticks', Mathilda was fine she ate paper. Just take a lightweight buggy and minimal baggage, all will be well.

Pinkjenny · 01/05/2008 12:16

I'd so love to come. Minimal baggage goes against my whole ethos on life.

Just spoken to my mum, L fed herself her entire pudding at lunch time. What a clever (and very messy) chicken she is!

largeginandtonic · 01/05/2008 12:28

Please come! It will be great fun, think of the babies playing with each other and eating biscuits We will be in the corner drinking wine (well teetotal wont be, she can pretend with schloer)

Mrsjaffabiffa · 01/05/2008 12:29

Hello all, just a quickie as seem to have a million and one things to do. (nothing exciting)!

Clarkes do not make shoes wide enough for J's feet. It's true, we had her measured when we were over in april and she is a 3.5 I, F is a normal width fitting and they only go as wide as a H. LOL... fat footed buba!

PJ, hope she feels better soon, please do not worry, they do have off days, give her a bit of calpol and lots of love. Oh and at the 150 squid!!!

BB well done on A's steps, are they the first ladies??????

Lupins I want some of your patches!! I am doing well but it is a battle, would be nice to be able to do it without thinking about it every second of the day. My will power at the moment is shite!! Where were they from Lups and how much were they?

largeginandtonic · 01/05/2008 12:32

You all need to go to Startrite and get these lovely shoes

Pinkjenny · 01/05/2008 12:33

Let me know when SOH is coming - could you cope with both of us or recomnmend a hotel. Would be leaving dh at home, obviously.

Mrs JB - I wish you wouldn't post. Because every time you do I feel compelled to drool over your kitchen.

Pinkjenny · 01/05/2008 12:34

Those shoes are gorgeous. But the health visitor told me not to put shoes on her until she is walking outside. Is that right?
