well done wizzska!
yes would like the sleep too

Wizzska · 02/04/2008 11:01

Hi Amani - have put some new pics on my profile.

Sleep is just not happening. Thought I'd tricked him by using the clock change to change his night waking times, nope. Last night went back to his old pattern. 2.30, 3.30, 5.30 then DH put him in our bed between us, where he wriggled about for the rest of the night hitting me in the face with his flappy hand. He's turned into Dr Strangelove lately, one hand flaps a lot. He runs it up and down the side of cradle like a prisoner on cell bars.

I second the question about water in the night. Does it work. Haven't got myself together enough to try it yet, but would like to stop the night wakings.

Morning all

Re water - I haven't tried it myself but one of the mums at my postnatal group does this and she says it works well so I suppose it's worth a try.

Much better night last night - she didn't wake up for a feed but was making lots of snuffly noises and moans and groans. When she woke up this morning she was coughing and spluttering so the poor wee thing has a cold.

Wizzska · 02/04/2008 11:28

poor you Louise, it is horrible when they have a cold. DS is prone to bogies, we use the nose drops which work well to get them out. Bit yucky, sorry.

re water- night nanny used it a couple of times and it seemed to work. Wizz, i think it was you who was asking about getting them to go longer between feeds. I just tried to distract them, even for 10 minutes by playing or whatever so DD was hungrier, took more and then lasted longer. Whatever it is that rory enjoys the most, i would start it just before you think he will ask for a feed. I did it during the day as at night is was too tiring, but the effects lasted into the night.

Lizzer · 02/04/2008 11:46

Hello!!

Gorgeous pics Wizzska, he's adorable No, our sleep is messed up too-some days i think he's got it but we usually have 2 wakings at least, but he's doing a fairly consistent 6 hr stretch when he first goes down so i feel blessed for that.

Know what you mean about the hands too! Ds loves to bang his down hard on the bumbo's play tray when he wants to be out-also trying to wriggle out of bumbo already

Well its quite nice just having one lo to care for while dd is on holiday with my parents, certainly very quiet round here!

Thanks for the tip offs for black out blinds on our last thread folks..

Well i think the bf/weightloss thing is finally happening seeing as i've scoffed a LOT of choc over easter and been eating dp sized portions for dinner. Got on the scales today and i've lost half a stone!!! Yippee, the only way is down, baby

Wishing you all a lovely midweek

Lizzer · 02/04/2008 11:48

Oh Suey2 I've just the pic on your profile, awwwwwwww she's sooo cute

suey2 · 02/04/2008 11:54

thanks lizzer! [proud momma emoticon] i must get another one on as she was only 6 weeks then.

macdoo- just seen your thread. I hope you are sleeping still! We took millie out in her carseat every night after bathtime with her asleep so that we could go and eat - up to 3 hours at a time. And she was in it quite a lot during the day as we didn't take the buggy seat. Didn't want to reply on your thread and get shouted at. But she gets tummy time, does lots of stadning and sitting every day and lies down flat for all her naps.

suey2 · 02/04/2008 11:55

... sorry lie down flat for her naps when we are at home

suey2 · 02/04/2008 12:19

oo how are the diets going? I put on 2 lb the week i decided to start watching it (LOL), so i am definitely taking skid's approach now. I lost 4 lb on hols (what, how, in spain!). I always know it is about portion control with me. So. no banned foods. If i fancy something, i have it. But is will try and avoid buying anything larger than i small bar of choccie when i get a craving. (the whole packet of bisciuts ffs)

Beanstermummy · 02/04/2008 12:31

HI guys. Sorry for lack of posts and for not now replying to any issues I've missed over the past 20 pages!!! Swapped internet providers at home and took ages to set the new one up - not that it should have just finding the time to do it!

Anyhow, things Chez Beanster are good. Freya is now eating a wee bit (just introduced porridge at the 6pm feed last week and tried carrot puree this morning after her 11am milk and so far so good - I did forget just how messy this feeding lark can be though! She just seems to be wanting more than just milk and is taking top ups more and more too - her timing is pretty good though as I'm due back at work in 4 weeks and would prefer to have weaning established before cutting down on BM onto complete formula feeds. She's piled on the weight recently though after her hiccup last month which is jolly - and is now even more of a clone of her big sister than before

Suey2 - re diets - how annoying is it when you put on weight - I keep thinking OMG it's 4 months and I'm still a bloater I have decided with April starting to take matters more seriously though and while not really dieting as such portion control and no snacking is now on the cards - just have got into the habit of cooking piles of stuff and both DH and me are showing the effects! Although he keeps it off by all the running and swimming (and cycling and walking and . . . . .). Aim is to lose the 10 lbs and be back at PPW when I go back to work - then I can attack the other few stones!! How are the rest of you getting on?

PND wise I have been having a few really low days and have been getting paranoid as I've felt exactly like I did with DD1 - but am trying to really ask myself why, what has triggered my grumpy mood etc and try and talk to DH more too - so far it's working ish - hopefully things will sort out and I won't suffer like last time.

Anyway - since DD2 has just crashed out (now in her cot - will be in own room next week too!!) I need to go and investigate the kitchen and see what non fattening delights there are for me today - fab!!

Hope you guys are all doing well - I'll try and catch up on all your news in the next day or two but can't promise x

cazzybabs · 02/04/2008 12:36

Hello - took Evie for her jabs today - lots of crying but she is fine and asleep on my lap. I even drove (as had the other 2 dds with me) and I did park (very abdly).

I havbe to go back on Friday as she has a hernia. Her excema/dry skin seems a lot bnetter - I think the sun has helped it.

cazzybabs · 02/04/2008 12:38

Wizz - he is gorgous - so handsome.

Wizzska · 02/04/2008 12:42

I'm dreading dieting, will have to lose about 11 lbs. I am still enjoying running when I get teh chance. Am trying to go a bit further each time I go out.

DS is on his playmat, has managed to do a 90 degree turn in one go so he can face the telly. Much shrieking is going on.

Amani good to hear back from you. About the age thing I think it is perfectly normal. I'm a baby person really, but ds pushed me to my limits on occasion!

Caz you were saying about money issues and another baby...well this might be a bit contraversial but we are actually better off with two . Of course if ds was ff and in disposables it would be different but because he is breastfed and in dd's old cloth nappies and most of his clothes are hand me downs he isn't really costing us anything (chocolate and biscuits for sucessful milk production aside ). Of course it is all subjective, if you are used to earning a good salary then the £12.80 a week child benefit you get for the second child is nothing, but for me that's a quarter of what we spend on food again so makes a big difference-think with the tax credits we get about £45 a week more than we did with just dd which seems huge to me.

Macdoodle probably best you have postponed the jabs, if only for your own piece of mind. I wish I had with ds' cos its just been one thing after another leading to no sleep for us!

Suey I am pretty sure the pump and dump thing after drinking is a myth and isn't actually neccessary but still, just the thought of having to deal with babies with a hangover is enough to put me off! Actually the last time I did was dh's birthday last year, nearly passed out getting up to dd in the night and then found out a couple of weeks later was pregnant with ds! oops!

Ambi I was meaning to ask you how the switch to formula has been. Does dd seem more settled? Are you finding it easier? I remember thinking about putting dd on bottles for ages to try and get her to sleep better but then when I finally did it made no difference and she still woke loads in the night! I was also crap at the whole thing and would forget to make her bottles or to take any with me when I went out etc, for me it all seemed too much hassle but I seem to be an exception as most people seem to find formula easier.

No sleep here eiter Wizz.

Happy anniversary Clara!

Bouncingturtle · 02/04/2008 13:18

Hey everyone.
yet another crap night - similar to yours Wizzka!

Weight is slowing coming off me, since I joined Slimming world 6 weeks ago, I've lost 6.5lb. Would have lost more but there was much cheating especially at Easter!!!

Had a tearful moment as Daniel was terribly unsettled at Nappachino today, was hungry but kept pulling off and crying, and it was so awful. Felt like the worse mum in the world because I looked like I was making a right hash of feeding the little tyke. Eventually he dozed off in his buggy then woke up and had a feed when we got home. I then put him down for a sleep in his Moses basket, been down nearly an hour now.
Hopefully he'll be in a better mood when he wakes up!

Hello Beanster! Glad to see you and Freya are doing okay. My friend's baby loves his porridge too!

Wizzska · 02/04/2008 13:33

On the subject of diets...chocolate digestives are 2 for 1.80 in Tesco at the moment, how half a pack has just vanished I don't know! Ah well, they are healthy surely?

Wizzska · 02/04/2008 13:42

Clairey - I think you're right about the pump and dump thing - you don't need to. Its like blood alchohol levels and it will go away from your milk like it does out of your blood.

OP posts:
Wizzska · 02/04/2008 13:44

Clairey - Somerfields have a similar offer for choc digestives. There's an open packet that seems to be getting emptier in our cupboard as biscuits disappear every time I pass the kitchen .

OP posts:
claireybee · 02/04/2008 14:04

hmm, maybe I need to put the packet in the kitchen so I actually have to get up to eat them! 2/3 now gone without me even tasting them!
