Teedy Bears picnic sounds fabM had a lovely day even tho' dp away till fri.hE SAW HIM THIS MORNING.oBVIOUSLY i HAVE SOME 'ISSUES' re dad and stepmum but have managed to be ok with it all.It is different when I know they will treat their grandchildren differerntly.I will get over it as I know I sound childish.

Doobydoo · 02/04/2008 21:03

You are so right Octo.I will not mention it!

Doobydoo · 02/04/2008 21:04

Though I think it is done on purposebeing punished for moving away prob.Just think my dad is pants really.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 02/04/2008 21:07

dooby I know that my 2 get treated differently to my sister's two children, because she does what she's told and makes them call mum's new husband grandad. I won't, so my children are unimportant. She went camping rather than visit when J was born, he was 6 weeks before she came, and she'd have missed most of M's birthdays if gran hadn't shouted at her. She missed both their baptisms too, but paid for my sister's children's.

I have simply decided that it's her problem, when the boys are older they will work it out for themselves, and think accordingly of her. M already asked her who she was

elkiedee · 02/04/2008 21:17

Dooby, I hope you don't stay upset for too long because it's not nice to be, but I understand why you're upset. I come from a very extended family though fortunately most of its members are lovely about it. My mum organised both her ex-husbands as well as the current one to help get the house ready for D.

As for pressies, your baby though won't notice yet this year, and next year you can make plans for the best way of reminding your dad, at least, that he has another grandchild.

CaptainDippy · 02/04/2008 21:20

@ parents / parents in law

StealthPolarBear · 02/04/2008 21:20

so tired
off to bed
goodniht

cazboldy · 02/04/2008 21:21

my parents and family are always massively over the top. my sister is a bit odd as she always demands massive pressies off our mum and dad for her lo as he is an only child, and she thinks they should spend the same on him as they do for all my children put together

dh's family are all awful.......for charlie's bd only his sister bothered. mil didn't see him until he was 6 months, and only then as we bumped into her. she is a really strange one, but as a family they are a really selfish lot

cazboldy · 02/04/2008 21:22

hi Dippy - about what you said earlier, i never knew you lived on a farm! What sort of farm was it?

CaptainDippy · 02/04/2008 21:56

A very small one! Loads of chickens, couple o cows, pigs, random goat, horses, ponies, tractor ... the usual. Self sustaining, but not a lot else!

Doobydoo · 02/04/2008 22:03

Thanks ladies.I feel much better having read your posts.Good advice but fel and for some of you nowI will let it go.Goodnight all.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

PillockOfTheCommunity · 02/04/2008 23:18

this is my list for him, have I missed anything? talk about leaving it til the last minute, he's known since feb he was having him overnight, he wanted to start it 3 weeks ago and I said no as he wasn't prepared for it, and yet he hasn't bought anything yet, he's shopping tomorrow

so, list -

Travel Cot
Cot bedding (sheets and blanket/quilt)
is the style of blanket he has at home
vests & sleepsuits 12-18mths
nappies - pampers active fit size 4
wipes
needs to be one of these 3 as they don't give him a reaction
bottles
the slow flow teats it comes with are fine for him
sterilising tablets/liquid - I'd suggest tablets are easiest as you will only use it once a week
cups
these needs to be checked every time you wash it, look at it before he ever uses it, squeeze the spout, notice what it looks like inside the spout. he has gone through several already, he bites them when he's teething or bored and splits the spout, then next time he uses it the drink comes out all over him
milk - Aptimil pre-mixed cartons stage 3 - same colour cartons as link but small pre-mixed ones at about 50p each, not large box.
milk
weetabix & soya milk - Alpro sweetened soya, either chilled or uht type carton
milk
bananas
plastic bowl/spoons - toddler stage rather than baby as they hold more
highchair - if you have a chair to fix it to and a table he can sit at then a booster like this will be fine
if not then you will need a proper highchair, and it must be one that he can sit properly upright in, not one where the back reclines slightly and doesn't sit at a 90 degree angle to the seat

think I've been detailed enough?

liath · 03/04/2008 07:57

Seems pretty idiot-proof, POTC! Remains to be seen if it's Justin-proof !!

It was absolutely glorious weather yesterday, spent the day outside and feel so much better for a day in the sunshine. I've decided to try to grow veg this year despite the maurauding slugs so have loads of seeds in propagators on the windowsill - very exciting .

Have a great day, everyone.

Sexonlegs · 03/04/2008 08:00

Good list POTC. Hope J appreciates it and follows it!!

SPB, hope you are feeling better today, and T of course.

Maveta, I have no idea how you would do housework as well as ft work and N. I would be demanding a cleaner!!!

Dooby, hope you are ok. People are strange aren't they? We are v lucky with both sets of parents, although mil is a bit dozy. She asks us what to get, we give full details and she manages to get it wrong! Shouldn't complain tho...

How is everyone else this fine morning?

No night wakings here thank God. B is complaining her tummy hurts still, and dh is having a few "troubles". Just me soldiering on (martyr emoticon!!!!)

StealthPolarBear · 03/04/2008 08:21

Morning everyone
All feeling loads better thanks, DH came to bed in 2 jumpers shivering last night but seems to have shaken it off
yes, reading this has made me realise how lucky I am with parents and PILs
SOL, hope B feels better today - is she still going to school?

PillockOfTheCommunity · 03/04/2008 09:34

GOOD MORNING ALL

The sun is shining here, and we are off to meet cazboldy

she said her garden is muddy so we're in our 'rough n ready' clothes and wellies, I don't look like this normally! (yeah right)

Bramshott · 03/04/2008 09:46

Have a lovely day Pillock and Caz! I want to come for a day out in the Norfolk countryside (stamps foot!).

POTC - I hope Justin realises how much that lot it going to set him back [evil cackle]

Caz - will go on crossing fingers until June then! Thanks for the update.

Anyone's birthday today? Izzy is tomorrow isn't she?

NorthernLurker · 03/04/2008 09:52

Good list POTC - hope he manages it all. Do you think he'd manage to buy the travel cot without guidance? If he's looking for a recommendation Mamas and Papas do one for around £45 that we have - bought it for dd2 and it's still going strong. Would last joe for years - BUT he must buy the mattress that comes with it if he's going to sleep in it on a regular basis. Have a lovely day with Caz

I'm going to have a bath shortly and then I think B and I will go out on an expedition!

CaptainDippy · 03/04/2008 10:16

Morning! Fab list POTC - hope it costs him loads

I forgot to mention that my little niece was born yesterday (well techincally today as they are in NZ) at 2.30am (NZ time), weighing 9lb 4oz (ouch, but no as big as her big bro!) No name yet.

Have fun in the mud Caz and E!

weeonion · 03/04/2008 11:18

morning folks!

CD = congrats on the new family member. an aunitie - is this the first time??
POTC - that is gonna cost him a fortune altogether! i bet his jaw will hit the floor when he realises! just to make it even longer what about bum cream - does J ever need any barrier cream etc? nappy bags? a changing bag? facecloths? bibs? snacks - with appropriate storage bowls? will you be sending stuff like spare clothes with him in an overnight bag? first aid / meds = calpol? bonjela or teethig rings? thermometer?do you use a monitor or would he want / need one as well? bath stuff - sponges or bath seat?

i am sure with a bit more time - i could expand the list further!

StealthPolarBear · 03/04/2008 11:27

Congratulations to your family CD
I was coming on to wish Izzy a happy birthday, I thought it was the 4th!
Well left T at nursery this morning, he cried as I left Just called, apparently he cried for 10mins then they managed to distract him with cars and he's fine. Please convince me not to pick him up at 2pm!
CD, am doing what you did the other day and making a schedule of housework.

11.30-11.45 hoover/clean pushchair (don't ask!)
11.45-12 clean kitchen
12-12.30 hoover and mop everywhere
12.30-1 clean windows (new microfibre cloth!)
1-2 iron (my annual ironing session)
2-2.30 clean bathrooms

oh and during that time put loads of washing on and in drier (cleaning all the bedding and towels etc after T's bug)
Wish me luck!

Pillock and caz - enjoy yourselves! Ooh that reminds me, I have a chickens question
