EdieMcredie · 18/04/2008 10:44

Hi Lisa!! Thanks for being my FB buddy!!

Im boasting...Millie can stand!!!!!!!!!....................

Lollypopzmummy · 18/04/2008 12:06

Ooh Hopey you must be so proud of both your DH and little Niamh! So glad it all went well, and to be just finishing one and looking for the next one, he must really enjoy it! Wow!
I know what you mean about the signs of growing up, I keep pushing on Lolly's tooth to try and make it GO BACK IN!!! (Joking btw! )

She's been rolling around loads this morning, in her gorgeous purple hippy sleepsuit that I made for her, and has mastered the art of successfully rolling onto her side (not quite onto her front yet), she grabs one of her feet and yanks it over to the side she wants to go to, it's quite impressive really!

Not yet sitting or crawling or talking properly yet (although there was a bit of "dada" this morning in bed) but I'm happy the way she is, DD1 didn't roll over at all, I had to teach her to do it at the age of a year old! But it's not like she was a simple child or anything, she just had other things to get on with like crawling!

I don't know how much she weighs, we haven't been to the HV for a few weeks now (bliss ) but are probably due for a visit next week maybe.

Not been doing a lot the past few days, DD1 is at granny and granddad's until tomorrow so we've managed to get the living room cleared of all her toys and I'm meant to be sewing some lovelies for myself (just "popped" on lol).

LLL: Ben will get used to being on his front once he realises that he can tuck his knees under him and then he'll be off before you can blink!!

Anywho, back to that sewing malarky!
xXx

Lollypopzmummy · 20/04/2008 12:58

((Yawn))
Hello all, it's strangely quiet in here again isn't it? I've popped in every day to see if anyone's posted but no-one seems to be around (or maybe you're all doing the same so thought I'd better write something to get your attention! )

Not a lot going on over here I'm afraid. It was DH's birthday yesterday (not a lot to be said about that though, besides the money woes DH doesn't really see the point in celebrating, spoil sport!!), picked up DD1 from IL's, she's now being a good girl sitting and watching beebies (time for a nap soon though I think, she's got her finger's in her mouth) and Lolly's been a good girl the past few days (no signs of any more teeth yet).

Got my first ever smear (yuk!) on Tuesday (first one ever ever so a head's up on what it'll be like would be muchly appreciated , also, out of interest, will it matter if I'm menstruating? Only thought about this yesterday. . .)

Have been working hard on my ball gown again, totally inpired by the lovely weather and it's starting to look gorgeous! I'm having a slight dilemma on how to fasten the skirt or it though, I want to be really lazy and just use a ribbon and tie the back but my friends done that with her's so don't want to look like I can't think for myself! Might just have to give in and go for a zipper, or maybe a lace up would be nice (to go with the corset style top. . . )

Anywho, I'm off, DH has gone off to play golf and I'm hoping he'll get back soon so we can take the girl's into town for the St George's Day thingy doofer that's going on.

Later
xXx

LisaLessLumpy · 20/04/2008 21:09

I don't think they will do the smear if you are menstruating because they won't get the proper cells to test. Also don't have sex the night before one either

I may be talking bollox on the menstruating bit so I would double check You have had a child so the smear should be nothing to worry about, I have only ever found it embarrassing rather than painful, but since having two kids the embarrassment factor has gone It can be a little uncomfortable though.

EdieMcredie · 20/04/2008 21:15

Lolly

Pretty sure you won't be having it done if you are on your period.

It is absolutely fine, nothing more than a tad embarassing but nothing compared to giving birth!!!

Good luck.

Lollypopzmummy · 20/04/2008 22:15

You're right ladies, my friend told me today that they don't do smear's here if you're on, why they didn't tell me that when I made the appointment is beyond me but I'll be telling them how annoyed I am that I probably wont be able to get another appointment for 2 weeks now and I'll probably have something planned so it'll now have to wait until next month now!).

sophus · 21/04/2008 09:26

hi all

been in scotland for long weekend - went to scatter mum's ashes. We had a good time, and Linus dealt with the travelling really well (7 1/2 hours on a train plus driving). The fresh air must have done him good as he slept like a demon whilst we were there, and he just loved hanging out with his uncles.

anyway, lots to do unpacking etc so just wanted to pop on and say hi.

MrsBumblebee · 21/04/2008 10:08

Hi all.
Sophus, so glad the weekend went well and that Linus behaved himself on the journey. I'm already dreading driving to Devon / Yorkshire on holiday in the summer, though a friend told me to do the journey at night if possible, so the baby sleeps all the way. Don't want the driver sleeping all the way as well, though .

Lollypopzmummy, one more tip on the smear thing - don't worry too much if you get an abnormal result and they have to retest. Often it just means the sample's unreadable. Last time I had to have FOUR smears done before they got a proper result, and I was panicking a bit that something was wrong, but everything was normal in the end. Oh, and you might bleed a little bit during/after the smear as well - I always do.

Hope everyone else is doing well. I'm feeling slightly low as DH has gone back to work (school) today after two weeks off. Grandparents are coming for the day, though, so that should cheer me up a bit. Paul's doing really well and eating like a horse - new favourite food appears to be chilli con carne !

Holly29 · 21/04/2008 11:09

Hello!!!!!

I know it's been a long time, but today is my first day back at work so I have access to a computer all day long and can finally get back into posting a bit more... Here's my George update.

age : 7 months yesterday
height : horribly long
weight : no idea!
sitting : just about, with some comedy falling over
rolling : yes, all the time, including at night which makes for some getting stuck incidents
crawling: not yet, but almost
sleeping : 7pm to 7am
teeth : none but has been dribbling since 10 weeks!
food : loves eating absolutely everything
words : says absolutely nothing. Am waiting for him to speak in complete sentences in due course!
favourite activities : wrestling with Daddy.

I've missed you all SO MUCH!

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 21/04/2008 13:44

Holly it is SO nice to hear from you, I've missed you too! I've often thought about you. How are George's hips? I remember there being a complication because he was breech. Niamh was lucky and got away with it...just. It must we weird being back at work! The time has flown so fast hasn't it. You must try and get some pics of your boy on your profile, would be lovely to see him.

Sophus, I'm glad Scotland went well. x x

MrsBumble, sorry to hear you're feeling sad now DH has gone back, I know exactly what you mean, 'fortunately' my DH is ill so has taken today off. Sods law isn't it, poor DH books a weeks holiday then ends up ill!

Edie, wow at Millie standing!! Sounds like you're at that PUT EVERYTHING AWAY stage!!

Well I've had my hair cut REEEEEEEEEEALLY short. When I can face it, I'll take a pic and post on my profile. I have to confess to having taken the scissors to my hair some more since coming home, I wasn't overly impressed by some of the blunt layers. It's going to take some getting used to this new hair do.

kinki are you back from your holiday yet?

PLP haven't heard from you for a while.

I hope everyone is well.

PurpleLostPrincess · 21/04/2008 14:45

Hello ladies!

Edie, have looked through MrsFish's list of friends on FB but can't find you so I'm assuming your real name isn't edie mcredie!? My surname is Seswick if you want to find me on your friends' friends lists?

Hope - YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!! Big big congratulations to DH for doing the marathon!!! We were in Wales at the time and I caught some of it on the TV and was thinking of you all. Has he recovered now? You must be sooo proud of him!!!! Amazing that he's planning on doing more, I totally admire him (and you of course!).

sophus - glad to hear it went well, was thinking of you. Do you feel any different now that you've done it? (feel free to tell me to sod off if you don't fancy talking about it of course!) Hugs xx

Holly, lovely to see you and hope your first day goes well!

Sorry I've not been around but the school hols meant I got very little time on the computer - every time I went to catch up on here I got distracted! Have been having a bit of a nightmare because Cerys is now on gigantic amounts of lactulose. We've always given her medicines before meals but it was putting her off eating so I tried doing it after a meal but it just made her throw the whole lot up! She's had a cold this week (which I'm hoping won't turn into bronchiolitis again!) so we've had a few extra medicines to give. I'm getting more and more disheartened about it so I might go have a look in the 'health' section to see if anybody has any advice...

She's sitting really confidently now and only has the occasional topple which is great. The most amazing thing is that she is waving now and it is absolutely hilarious!!! She holds her hand up and looks at it and bends it back and forwards, its sooooo sweeet and I'm really proud of her. The next thing is clapping - she loves it when we clap and you can tell she really wants to do it - I've given her some stacking cups and she bashes them together so she's got the co-ordination, just needs to figure it out... She's grabbing everything in sight, especially DH's mug when he's holding her and drinking his cup of tea. We thought we'd try her on it and she absolutely lurves it and goes crazy when she sees a mug now lol! She drinks so well from it so I'm wondering if she'll go straight to drinking from a cup as she doesn't like any of the baby cups I've tried so far...

It's soooo lovely to chat with you lot again, have missed you all loads! DD1 is still not back at school (inset day) but tomorrow things should be back to normal, if there's such a thing. DS has an inset day on Friday which happens to be his birthday - I HAVE A SON WHO IS 14!!!!!!!!!! I feel really really old!!!! The only thing keeping me going is that he told me I'm a 'cool mum' the other week and he is still cuddly bless him.

Oh, and I'm going back to line-dancing on Thursday night! Can't wait to start again - I did it years ago and got medals etc. Its the one thing I know I won't have trouble making myself go to every week as I love it so much and hopefully I can lose weight at the same time!

Hmmmmmm, is there anything else? Probably! Can't think right now and have to get ready for the school run. Will pop back on later hopefully.

Love you all!!! (((((((((hugs)))))))))

Wow, crossed posts there Hopey, lovely to see you! Looking forward to seeing your new hairdo - I'm thinking of making a drastic change to mine, will keep you posted!

Lolly, you've reminded me that I need to book my smear. Just to back up what everybody else has said it has to be when you're mid-cycle and they should have mentioned that when you booked it...

Holly29 · 21/04/2008 16:26

Hello Hopey and PLP! Hopey please post pics of your new haircut!!!

George's hips are fine, thank you for asking, they ended up righting themselves on their own and he did not need a cast after all, thank goodness. x

sophus · 21/04/2008 21:32

PLP - to be honest i don't feel different about mum, i'm still just skimming the surface of dealing with it all. The ashes thing was a nice symbolic event but it didn't feel like an ending or a closure, just a nice opportunity to come together as a family and chat about mum. Except it did mean spending time with my sister who is a total and utter nightmare - and we all share that opinion. When i was feeding Linus on sat night before his bedtime i ended up with virtually my whole family sitting on the bed trying to hide from her.

Linus is being very whiny today, he has had so much attention these past four days that he thinks it should carry on like that. He went into total meltdown today because i wouldn't let him have the remote control.

Holly - great to have you back, another friend of mine went back to work today. Poor you.

Hopey-she is only stadning holding onto sofa so not having to move stuff yet thank god!!

PLP-No my name is not Edie in RL!!! Ha ha. Ill look for you........

Lollypopzmummy · 21/04/2008 22:50

Sophus Glad that things went well this weekend and Linus coped with the hefty travelling

Mrsbumblebee: Bleeding?! Blardy wonderful, as if I haven't bled enough over the past couple of years and now the periods have started again. . . is there no end to our suffering?!

Holly29 Welcome back! I vaguely remember you from way back!

PLP: Lolly's also a big fan of proper cups and I keep meaning to get a doidy cup but my head's so full of other crap that I never get round to thinking about it when I'm in the right place (oh the joys!), although saying that I did buy her the cutest cup today from Tesco (they don't sell doidy's) and it's got cow print all over it (to go with her gorgeous cow outfit!! Have GOT to take a pic of her and post it!)

Well, Lolly's been progressing loads lately and is now going to move on to the next stage of glucose formula, which is yet another sign that she's growing up I'm hating all this progressing that she's doing but there's nothing I can do is there?! Have been feeling quite crappy lately (as you can probably tell ) and am finding myself more and more in the frame of mind that we always find ourselves in as mother's in that I have no identity. . . I'm just someone's mummy and that's it. . . I've got no life outside this house and nothing in my life that does not revolve around my children, every waking moment revolves around them and what they're doing, I'm just their minder, I might as well be faceless and nothing.

Well, that was depressing eh?! Pants to this I'm off to escape to the wonders of Facebook to lose myself in mind-numbing games and what-not.
Night all
xXx

Holly29 · 22/04/2008 09:46

Lollypopzmummy,

TOTALLY understandable you feeling like that! I used to count the hours until bedtime sometimes just so that I could feel like I had my own life back (glass of wine, bit of chatting to my friends etc.). Trust me, being back at work is no easier - yes I have my identity back in a way but I've changed and it is just hellish kissing my beautiful son goodbye in the mornings... I have no magic answers!

amyclaramum · 22/04/2008 13:47

Halllooooo everyone ! Hope you are having a good day ?

The DD's are back at school and Eloise is asleep so I have some time to get on with the housework but I'll go on Mumsnet instead !

Well done to your DH hopey - and you are very brave having a short haircut - mine is a mess at the moment and needs a good cut!

Sophus - glad the weekend was ok and you had some time to talk about your Mum with the family - your sister sounds interesting

Lolly - hope you are having a better day - its really hard to lose yourself in being just a mum - but you always sound so creative and talented with your dressmaking skills - I can barely sew in name tapes !

PLP - hope Cerys is ok ? its sounds like you are worried about the little love.

Holly - welcome back - nice to see you !

Eloise and I have had hideous colds and i think because i haven't fully recovered from the Hep A I have been completley wiped out! The doc has given me AB'S so I'm hoping to feel better soon !

Eloise has just started clapping her hands together and is very pleased with herself!

We have booked her Baptism at the end of May and I am trying to organise everything for that (my DH is athiest so not really fussed!)
but there is alot to get done and a minefield of invitations to sort out !

love to all xxx

Lollypopzmummy · 22/04/2008 17:06

wow amyclaramum you're married to an athiest, how does that work for you? Do you two ever get into "discussions" about your differing beliefs? My DH doesn't have a clearly outlined belief system but I don't think we've ever discussed religion properly yet. . . but I'm a pagan through and through and we agree on certain things but he obviously disagrees on things like faeries and sprites!

I'm feeling a bit better today but that's more to do with the fact that I escaped this morning to go and have a haircut (nothing drastic, just a trim to spruce myself up for my "birthday" dinner with friends tonight) and am leaving DH tonight so I can totally unwind and get a bit hammered if I so wish (Shh don't tell him ).

DH is expecting to have a job by next week so I've got a day and a half of running around next Tuesday! I've got my 2nd driving lesson booked for 9-11am, so the girl's have got to be booked into the creche, which means I have to be there for 9, meaning I have to walk up to the creche from town, first catching the bus in to town, but even before that I have to walk up the hill to the hospital as there are no buses running through the village due to something going on with the road and the bus company is NOT sending the usual buses through the diversion, instead they are completely missing out our village and instead there's only 3 buses coming through the village in the morning and only 3 to get home in the afternoon, none of these having easy access, so it's a 25 minute walk up a rather steep hill (and that's for me, a 26 year old, our village is just full of OAP's!) with 2 kids in the double pushchair which I will then have to put down once we get there as it wont fit on the new buses cos there is a pole in the one place where you could put a pushchair!
I've complained so many bloody times to this company for many different reasons and the most I get is a free day travel pass, which is great but doesn't solve the problem that I am CONSTANTLY having to struggle on a, nearly, daily basis to use their "service"
Am slightly tempted to phone them and insist that they pat for me to get a taxi next Tuesday

Anywho, I'm off again, have got an hour to make myself beautiful ( think it might take longer than that!! lol)
xXx

dal21 · 23/04/2008 14:23

Hi everyone!

Holly - great to see you back! Dare I ask...how is it being away from George? What childcare arrangements have you made? I go back the end of July and am starting to dread it!

Hopey - such great news re. your DH and the marathon. I had a good laugh at our texts after. How was he afterwards? Lose any toenails? And post some pics of your new haircut!

Sophus - am so glad the trip went well. How have you been feeling since?

MrsB - I second the advice about driving at night. We did that at Christmas and whilst we were a little tired for a day or so after - Ryan's routine wasnt disrupted at all.

Amyclaramum - hope you and your LO are feeling better.

Lollypopmum - how was your night out?

My news? Ryan was a little poorly - but touchwood, after a few days of not being 100% he is back to normal. Seems to be coming on leaps and bounds at the moment. Is finally rolling from his front to his back and vice versa. Plus leaning so far forward - he gets into crawling position, then cries because he doesnt like it! He has mastered getting the beaker into his mouth, but havent let him lose with the doidy cup yet. May save that one for lunch in the garden when it gets nicer out. I cannot believe how much he is growing week on week!

Hope everyone else ok.

Kink - was hoping you would have posted. Thinking of you and hoping all is ok.

Right after a week away from mnet - am off to have some fun in AIBU....hope there is a corker brewing. catch up with you all later.

Lollypopzmummy · 23/04/2008 17:04

My night out was lovely, we had tapas (my first time) and it was gorgeous, very garlic-y, just the way I like it (woke up with death breath love it!!).

Lolly's got her 2nd tooth coming through I found this morning, and is in a funny grumpy mood today.
DD1 has got a gacky eye so is on antib's and drops. FUN FUN FUN!

DH is hoping to have a job sorted by next week but he hasn't heard anything as of yet so still keeping finger's crossed in this house!

Not a lot else to report I'm afraid, I might get Lolly' to the Hv at some point soon so I can report weight etc, she's not crawling yet but I might just let her "fall" into the crawling position (Dal Ryan's an inspiration, obviously ) and see what she does with it!
She's been playing with her feet and can roll really easily by pulling her leg into the direction that she wants to go. She's also started clinging when she's being carried. . . anyone else's LO's do this? I only noticed cos DH was carrying her to bed and she had such a grip on him and then realised that she did it to me too, she looks like a koala! Too cute!!

Anywho, must be orf, dinner to cook and all that!
xXx

dal21 · 24/04/2008 08:10

Lolly - glad you had a good time. I am not a big tapas gal, not sure why - just doesnt really float my boat.
Ryan also does the clinging thing. Very Cute, in the last week he has also started rubbing his nose back with mine when i do eskimo kisses. There is so much he is starting to do on almost a daily basis, it is unbelievable.

Well the weather is lush here today - so warm already - so no doubt will be out later with Ryan.

But I weighed myself today and have lost another lb! whoop whoop. Can't say it is easy though - have upped 2 of my runs to 45 mins, never thought losing all the baby weight would be this hard. Am at all of you who have already done it!

Hope everyone else posts today. If not - hope all well!

MrsBumblebee · 24/04/2008 08:27

Hi all,
Lolly, glad you had a fun night. I can't say I've ever quite 'got' tapas either. It all tastes quite nice, but I end up feeling dissatisfied even if I've eaten quite a lot. Just greedy, I guess .

Dal, lovely to have you back. Re the weight thing - well done, sounds like you're almost there. Trouble with me, is that it's not the weight itself that's the issue - I lost all that in the first 3 months, but my figure is NOT what it was. I need to do some toning exercises - though when I'm supposed to do that while looking after Paul is a mystery . I have at least started doing some sit-ups during nap-time now, in the vague hope of putting on a bikini again at some point in my life.

Hope everyone's well. NB I've just started a thread about Paul's behaviourhere. Would be interested to know if any of you guys have similar experiences, or any suggestions!

dal21 · 24/04/2008 08:57

Mrs B - have posted on your other thread. You are not alone! Trust me! Dont think any of this motherhood lark is easy. Whilst I am looking forward to going back to work a few days a week to get some stimulation, my heart sinks when I think about leaving Ryan. Holly - where are you? want to hear how you are doing?
I have a feeling this may be similar to bfeeding. I dreaded giving up, but when I actually did, it was fine. Thats what i keep telling myself anyhows.

I think the same thing with tapas. That plus the fact that I once realised it wasnt the lowest calorie of foods! I think I like to have a set amount on my plate - not into picking at foods.

I am getting my tone back which is great. Can definitely see the difference all over. Took Ryan swimming the other week and only have bikinis - felt fine putting it on - but then i have no shame!

Whereabouts are you located MrsB? Remind me?

LisaLessLumpy · 24/04/2008 10:42

Oh to wear a bikini again, will need to tone up a LOT to do that.

Dal - I'm sorry to say this but it is MUCH harder to lose the weight after a second baby, trust me I have lost a total of 19lb since Jan 1st though, so I am doing it slowly but surely Oh and the physio has given me the all clear to carry on jogging, just need to go slowly

Oh and I love tapas
