Hello everyone hope you're having a good bank holiday. I'm fed up of this miserable weather. The report said it was going to be nice today but it's grey and miserable!

Alex is ok - had a virus all last week as was very poorly poor thing but on the mend now and so nearly there with his walking. He takes a few steps, falls down, stands up and takes a few more - he's very determined bless him!

Morning!!

1ST BIRTHDAY LIST
Eloise (amyclaramum) 23 August
Cerys (PurpleLostPrincess) 2nd September
Ryan (Dal21) 7th September
Linus (Sophus) 15 September
Alex (Chattyhan) 16 September
Niamh (HeinzSight) 17 September
Sadie (Thomcat) 24 September
Lucy (ChoochyFace) 23 September
Fay (Mica23) 27 September

I know - this time last year, we were putting down EDD, and whether we had elec cs booked...how time flies. Ryan has virtually overnight started crawling/ pulling himself up - the works. So stairgates have gone up! Make life so easy as he can crawl to his hearts content and I can let him be!

ACMum - I had the measles jab because Ryan is already at nursery and there is a measles breakout in NW3. They wouldn't give MMR before a year, so I had to get him the measles jab privately. Only yesterday was he himself again - so took two weeks to wear off. Now have to decide whether to have the MMR given in a few months time or just carry on with the single vaccinations.
I am inclined to think that the MMR is too nasty - dread to think what all three strains of viruses will do to him if the measles jab left him poorly. Maybe I am suffering from PFB syndrome.

Hopey - nice name change, but will take a while to stop calling you hopey . Have a fab anniversary.

Sophus - hope you are feeling ok.

Hi to everyone else - gotta run.

MCLF - hope you are doing ok.

HeinzSight · 26/08/2008 11:21

Morning, hi dal, sorry to hear poor little Ryan has been suffering after his Measles jab. Bit worrying that, given that the MMR is so full on. Maybe single vaccines would be the way to go for him. I was fortunate that the MMR didn't seem to cause any side effects for DS1 or 2. And you can always call me Hopey, I couldn't name change to Hopey, because someone already has it, although I don't think they post anymore, I just felt that my girl wasn't big was a bit out of date now and I also believe that hindsight is a wonderful thing , also quite like beans

dal21 · 26/08/2008 11:44

Morning Heinzsight (I do like what you have done there )

When are you and DH staying at the fabulous looking hotel? Anytime soon?

Hmmm, re. the jabs - will see nearer the time, Ryan needs a three month gap between this and any others, so will see. Between all the illnesses he has had though, he has dropped so much weight. He is now back on the 25th centile. Am not worried about him since he is a happy boy, just feel terrible is all.

I will talk to the GP and decide the best way forward.

xx

HeinzSight · 26/08/2008 11:47

Dal, poor little chap. Have you considered putting some vitamin drops in his milk or drinks, I used to give them to my boys and was giving them to Niamh, must start that again actually, think they're called Abidec. hold on, will Google, back in asec

HeinzSight · 26/08/2008 11:51

some info here about it. Can buy in Boots.

Our anniversary is on the 5th, am uber excited. 10 years, can't quite believe it. My stepmum is taking a train from London to here on the Tuesday so Niamh gets used to her putting her to bed etc, then DH is taking Friday (5th) off as holiday then we're off. We're having a 'complimentary' meal at the hotel, but the other evening we're undecided as to where to eat, so any suggestions....? Also thinking of doing comedy club on the Friday then seeing a show on the Saturday.

HeinzSight · 26/08/2008 11:53

Boots link for baby abidec and [[http://www.boots.com/shop/product_details.jsp?productid=1077390&classificationid=1030279 1 year plus]

Have managed to upload some more video to YouTube, search under GNCJN if you want a peek

HeinzSight · 26/08/2008 11:53

try again!!

dal21 · 26/08/2008 11:58

thanks hopey. i am currently giving ryan live bacteria evry morning as that is known to help immune systems. but will take a look at what you have recommended.

re. restaurants...three questions

  1. i assume romantic is what you are looking for?
  2. what budget per head are you looking at? Or does that not matter so much?
  3. what are yours and g's fave foods?
  4. is there any aspect about the restaurant that would make it uber special...views? music? etc....
dal21 · 26/08/2008 11:58

Thanks hopey - that does look great. will start giving it to ryan in a few weeks!

dal21 · 26/08/2008 12:01

make that four questions even...sigh...

HeinzSight · 26/08/2008 15:12

budget pretty good, given what we're spending on the hotel
I love seafood, G not keen, he hasn't really got any faves, I'm the food lover of the house!

On my 30th he took me to The Witchery by Edinburgh Castle, was GORGEOUS, had a banquet of seafood including lobster. But Edinburgh's pretty far to travel from London

Really trying not to panic, but my stepmum has sent me an email saying she's just been in contact with someone who has chicken pox (at the contagious stage), she's had shingles before and is worried she may catch it again...... oh bugger, have posted on Health forum.

HeinzSight · 26/08/2008 15:30

Phew, looks like she'll be ok. Apparently you can't catch it from other people, it's something that lays dormant in everyone that has had chicken pox in the past.

dal21 · 26/08/2008 15:53

I love the witchery..went there myself a few years back. Based on what you have said, then I would recommend the below.

Based on seafood, I think J Sheekey is fantastic...one of the best fish restuarants in london jsheekey
Is in heart of theatreland too so can do show then they will seat you post show. Can get filled with business diners weeknights but on weekends is more non business crowd and very romantic

If you want a place that does amazing seafood, but amazing steak also...Bluebird is one of my faves. Only problem is the location...a bit out of the way in chelsea.
bluebird

But one of my most fave restaurants in London is a little out of the way place, amazing food and service with live jazz. Out of this world. Boisdale in Belgravia.
boisdale The atmosphere is lovely too-it isn't very well known.

If you want somewhere near that is good for brunch etc, I think you are fairly close to Green Park, then the Wolseley does amazing brunches wolseley

If non of those float your boat, let me know and will go onto next batch

There are always the restaurants in the Morgan hotels - Sanderson, St Martins Lane...they are both more hip/ noisy..but great for people watching. Sanderson is only worth it if you get a table in the garden... but both have great bars too...

Ohhhh, am all excited for you!!

HeinzSight · 26/08/2008 15:56

Knew I couldn't rely on you Dal, you're a star. Will have a nosey at those links x x

HeinzSight · 26/08/2008 15:58

J Sheekey looks fabby, have already picked what I am potentially having from their menu....

Plateau de Fruits de Mer with Lobster

(for two)

ALL for me....greedy greedy guzzle guts.

dal21 · 26/08/2008 16:01

Then defo do jsheekey...you honestly wont be disappointed. Book a show (do you know what you are going to see?) then when you call the restaurant they will know what time to reserve a table for....

It is the most central of them all...you can have a lovely wander through central london after....

dal21 · 26/08/2008 16:03

Oh and the mixed grilled fish platter takes some beating too....they seerve fresh, seasonal mix fo fish...

dal21 · 26/08/2008 16:03

a mix of fresh seasonal fish even...got so excited, couldn't type any longer

still drooling

HeinzSight · 26/08/2008 16:05

May be a bit too fishy for G, will get him to have a look.

Boisdale looks great too.

Thanks for this Dal, do you have any others?

Am offline for a bit, G's got yet another hospital app, had physio at lunchtime, off to see orthopaedic surgeon now for check up. It's all go go go here!

How's work?

dal21 · 26/08/2008 19:14

Try these

daphnes Been a few years since I have been there, but food used to be amazing.

blakes. Very expensive, very low key - you may be rubbing elbows with a list celebs...not great on the atmosphere front

Buddha bar has also just opened in London. Havent been to this one yet, but if it's anything like the one in Paris - it is a great night out!

cocoon again more hip and buzzing like asia de cuba in st martins lane hotel. As opposed to old school dining

cinnamon club if you like Indian, then this restaurant is amazing

st albans again, more modern but fun

If you fancy views of London, then these 3 restaurants have the most amazing views

galvin Didnt get great reviews when it opened, but the views are second to none. Hear it has improved, havent actually been

skylon want to go, hear good stuff about it

oxo tower. Great food, amazing views, good atmosphere

Enough to keep you going?

There are obviously heaps of others, Bibendum is another restaurant people rave about, as is Claridges. Didnt like the food in either, but maybe I had an off evening.

dal21 · 26/08/2008 19:18

Oh and to answer your other question. Work is great. So great. Really loving it. Touchwood it continues.

HeinzSight · 26/08/2008 21:26

Dal, thanks so much for taking the time to post all that, you're lovely.

Will let you know what DH and I decide.

Am so glad you're enjoying work. x x

HeinzSight · 27/08/2008 18:01

Made a decision, have booked J Sheekey for Saturday night, and have booked tickets to see Avenue Q on Friday - looks v funny and naughty. Am SO excited.

Quick question dal, do you think J Sheekey will agree to do the Fuit de Mer banquet just for one? I have sent them an email. Will maybe give them a ring. G only gave up being a vegetarian after the accident, having been meat and fish free for 18 years! Shellfish a bit too much for him just yet!

dal21 · 27/08/2008 19:08

Superb choice! You will have a wonderful supper. You have to call them I am afraid. They may not prepare that dish for one, however with advance warning they should be more than happy to whip up something more suitable for G.

Can really depend on who you get on the end of the phone, some of the staff are really helpful - some may take the view of why is a non fish lover coming to the restaurant. Silly but true.

Call. Then nearer the time (maybe even on the day, call them again). To be honest, the concierge of the hotel can give them a call on the day to make sure all is good.
