hi, (cant be bothered with capital letters as i got fay in my lap)
firs i hope cerise is better!!!!poor little munching and poor you..its awfull when little ones are not well, but i guess you know that really well!!
as for the gap; it would be nice to wait till she is 3 or 4 but ladies, im not a spring chicken so the option of waiting for the "right" time is no out of the window.hopefully we are going to move to ireland where dh has lots of relatives...
as for milk feeds; fay has gone weirdand wont have any milk during the day!!i still manage to get recomended pint into her but had to add a extra night feed to do it!
oops!someone had a poo..have to dash!love to all!!xx for poorly cerise..

mica23 · 09/07/2008 13:42

ps dal-im too interested in magic mat but dont know anybody who has tryed it, got a feeling that babies see it more as a challenge than a deterrent!

dal21 · 09/07/2008 20:13

I killed the thread!!!

Where is everyone?

Hopey - thanks for your text, I dropped you a message back.

Sorry about the rant, headed out for lunch (in the pouring rain...grr) with a friend and had a lovely time.

Am starting to get into work mode, already organising my meetings for my first week back. Yikes!

Hope everyone had a good day.

Lollypopzmummy · 09/07/2008 20:35

Hi Dal I read earlier but didn't have much time to post.
Have had a horrible day here too (weather-wise and general man-crapness )

DH decided we were going to have a clear out (mostly my stuff) of the end room (as he took on some conservatory furniture from a Freecycler. Anywho, he's got into a shit with me several times today, including when I slipped off the front step putting out some rubbish (I wasn't even up and he was in my face asking "assessing" questions, I just wanted to have a minute to shake it off a bit first, before thinking about any potential trips to hospital, blardy first aid training gives him the right to hassle me with questions before I've even caught my breath?!).

Anywho, it's all done now, his precious room is clear of my junk and he now gets to fill it with whatever the f**k he likes (not that he wouldn't be able to do that when I move out anyway!!! ).
I'm getting more and more aware that he's still treating me like the naieve 19 yo that he met all those years ago, just cos he's 10 bloody years older than me he thinks that I don't have a brain (haha check our latest IQ test you moron! ), I just can't wait to get out of this house and he can, either, see just how much I do, or leave me the heck alone and we can live happily separted!

Got some paper work to drop off to the council tomorrow and, hopefully, the wheels will, finally, be in motion. Can't wait!!
Off again, baby to get to bed!
xXx

dal21 · 10/07/2008 08:42

Morning Lolly - So sorry to hear about DH. It sounds as though he is being a tad difficult because deep down he is trying to adjust to the thought of you guys not being there. I am not defending him by any means - as his actions sound quite hurtful. to you, hope your week gets better

MrsBumblebee · 10/07/2008 09:14

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been on for a while. It's been siege mentality around here for the last few days. Paul's had a really stinking cold (his first proper cold, so I don't think he knows what's hit him!), and the poor love has been quite upset about his cough and his bunged up nose. Also, he's suddenly hit the separation anxiety stage with a vengeance. Bed times and nap times have become a real battle - he screams unless I sit in the room with him until he falls asleep. I think the cold has been a contributing factor as well, to be honest; the poor mite's just feeling really sorry for himself and wants his mummy 100% of the time. On the up side, he started clapping yesterday, so I'm feeling very proud of him!

Lolly and Dal, sorry you've had some bad days recently. Lolly, it sounds like your DH is being a bit of an arse. I think Dal's theory might be spot on! Dal, I've just bought Paul his first plate, but so far I'm holding it for him while he eats off it. I'm avoiding the magic mat on the basis that I'm generally trying to avoid buying things that aren't 'real', IYKWIM - he's going to have to learn eventually not to throw a plate on the floor, so he might as well start now. But I suspect I might be eating my words very soon!!

Hi to everyone else!

mica23 · 10/07/2008 12:54

Apologies about all the mistakes in the last message..Fay is really squirmy baby..
Had a bit of crap news today. We had a second hand baby shop locally and after 20 years us closing down!!The place was fantastic as you could get absolutely anything to do with babies in it and godsend for toys.It was really handy for getting rid of stuff..
Does any of you know when do babies stop putting everything into their mouths??It seems I spend half a day stopping her from doing it and another half taking away from her stuff I failed to see her taking! She knows now to put her hand behind her back in a bit at keeping her treasure..

Lollypopzmummy · 10/07/2008 17:15

Mica My DD1 is 3 on Saturday and she's still putting random things in her mouth (not usually toys but will pick up bits of food and go for it! YUK!) it's just their way of testing things out, you're just going to have to keep an eye on her, that's all (Lolly's already made a grab for the laptop cable twice and it's tucked out of the way so she's actually intended to get it out and have a chew on it!).

Dal I think you're right, things are very emotional right now and even my brain's completely mashed. We're both trying to make allowances for it, and it's working a bit better today.

xXx

HeadFairy · 11/07/2008 15:20

Hi everyone. Sorry to hear about various woes. I can't add much fun to the mix, I've been ill for over a week, I had a temperature of over 100 deg for nearly a week. I'm getting better, and the plus side is I've lost nearly a stone, but it was rubbish for a while. No idea what it was, a virus of some kind. We've been the house of many germs since the walking petri dish Luca started nursery!

Talking of which, Dal, sorry to hear you're dreading starting work. It's understandable, it's the hardest thing I did, but your hours sound brilliant. I think it's a case of gritting your teeth until the time comes and trust me you will find it much easier than you thought and you'll probably love being back at work. Just stock up on echinacea for all the germs Ryan will bring home!

Luca's still on 4 milk feeds a day, but the last one is a dream feed and it's mostly for me to keep my milk supply up now I'm back at work.

I'd better dash because Luca's just managed to bump his head for the gazillionth time today, hope everyone else is well. take care xx

Quiet lately, who killed the thread this time?!

dal21 · 14/07/2008 09:01

Morning! Not me!

mica23 · 14/07/2008 14:32

It looks like it was me..

mica23 · 14/07/2008 15:09

Dal-strange as it sounds work becomes time for yourself, kind of.I adore Fay, night before last I got her out of cot and into bed with us becouse I dont know..I missed her (cot is in the bedroom with us and she was with me all day!!) but still its nice to have couple hours away so you can rush back..
Hope it works for you.
Lolly-thanks, I was hoping you were going to say; couple of months and you are home dry! :O She is so fast, it seems I blink and there is something in her mouth and then its dealing with clamped jaws and little teeth..O well, I will just have to faster than her.wink

I was shopping for her the other day and saw a baby BLANKET for £135!!!shockIt was a darn baby blanket!£135!!

Twitmonster · 14/07/2008 16:56

ok.
How are you all doing?

Feeding. If you can be bothered with all the mess let them try. Personally I can't be.
cups. dd was having her milk in a bottle until i got pregnant with babytwit [I think] and I just made her go cold turkey, mean but it worked.
Hello to the new people, it's good to meet you. I probably won't be back for another few weeks but still.

dal21 · 14/07/2008 17:55

Hi Mica - You didnt kill the thread..it does go mega quiet sometimes. Re. the magic mat, I use this. We have the tripp trapp high chair and a nice table, so wanted something to protect the surface. It works a treat and Ryan happily eats finger foods off it. I have not progressed to letting him spoon feed himself yet tho.
Thanks also for your kind words re. work, I get that feeling too - and think once the transition is done, Ryan and I will both be fine.

Lolly - how are things with you and your DH?

Headfairy - thanks also for your kind words. How is the household now? Feeling better?

Twit - Great to hear from you. Thanks re. the feedback on the bottles. Ryan is really starting to play up at his morning beaker feed, only takes about 2oz. DH and I were discussing this morning whether giving him his night feed via beaker would be better aswell. My only issue is that Ryan takes 8oz from the bottle at night without issue and he needs to take this amount considering how little he takes during the day from the beakers. I may well get him to 12 months when his min requirement for milk drops from 18oz to 12oz and then give it a go. He is sleeping so well, I dont want him to start waking because he hasn't had enough milk at bedtime.

All is good on our front. Ryan had his first settling in session at nursery, and it went really well. Have another two sessions this week when I will actually leave him there - so that will be the real test. But I actually think we will be fine.

Hope everyone else is ok and busy, hence the reason for no posts. to all.

Lollypopzmummy · 15/07/2008 02:35

Mica: Where the heck do you go shopping?!!! Are you totally sure it wasn't a misprint or something? Were you in Harrods?!!

Twit: Well done you, dashing in like that, anyone would think you've got no time to breathe, you'd think you've got a baby to deal with

Dal: DH and I are ok, so far, think things might go a bit hateful when I move out but he'll get used to it once he gets his friend moved in.
It's looking like the council will be taking 2 month's at least to house me so I've emailed a few estate agents in desperation, I really don't want to be stuck in some grotty flat on one of the local estates (they're really not nice, dealers in every other flat as far as I'm aware, not good for bringing up LO's ), but if I can't get an estate agent to take me on then I'll be putting my demands with my council lady, there aint no way you're getting me in a stinking council flat next door to no stinking druggy!!!

I'm up at stupid O'clock (as you can see). We had a gorgeous weekend, it was DD1's birthday on Saturday, we went to the local annual fete (we've never been as it's always held on the Saturday around DD1's birthday, which is usually when we do her party, but we're combining the girl's birthday's this year and doing the party in August, between the two birthdays, if that makes sense? ). It was a lovely day and the weather stayed really nice, same yesterday, we went over to DH's parent's and they did a barbeque for us, lots of meat and chocolate-y things for after's.
Then today happened! I went and put my foot in it with BIL's wife (who I've known for years and years) about their relationship. . . long story short, he's in doo-doo and I've possibly signed his divorce papers for him! He didn't do anything wrong but. . . ah it's too long and far too boring, absolutely not worth getting excited about but, basically, I landed him in it, and she was really upset (I honestly thought she already knew this vital piece of information!).
So, I'm up now, feeling very bad and like I've wrecked someone else's marriage (like I was doing such a good job with my own, thought I'd drag someone else down with me?! It's just my luck, I swear I'm cursed or something!).

DH did cheer me up a little earlier though, looking at nice cars on auto trader, he says he's going to buy mine first (with his insurance money) and then his (with compensation money, if/when he gets any ).
He can bribe me all he likes, I'm still moving out lol
xXx

sophus · 15/07/2008 21:56

hi all
been meaning to post, all well here. Linus is just coming out the other side of a cold, and his top teeth came through so he's been feeling a bit sorry for himself and not sleeping too well.
He's walking pushing his little wooden trolley around now.
Today he has spent a lot of time putting a sweet potato in the washing machine and taking it out again, putting it in, taking it out.....
I am adjusting to having horses back in my life, i take Linus to see them every day and he likes sitting in his buggy looking at them whilst i do my chores. It's added another element to my already complicated life, but it's great to have them back.
Me and Linus are off to South of France this weekend to see my Dad, DP is staying at home, so i am going by train. Have got to get across Paris by myself with Linus and luggage.
Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine.

oh and Dal - work will be the making of you, i am loving being back, and I miss Linus but he has an absolute ball at the CM. It is great to be an adult again.

EdieMcredie · 16/07/2008 11:32

Lolly-Oh dear, sorry to hear abut the BIL stuff!! How awful for you! Although on the up side it sounds as though your weekend was lovely and Hooray for DH buying your car first

Mica-Nice to see you posting plenty!

Sophus-You are a brave lady re travelling with Linus-good luck. Whereabouts in SoF are you going? We have an apartement in Roquebrune.
Have a lovely time...

Dal-You will love being back at work...even I do and I really worked myself up about it before hand.

Things are good here as mum is on her summer hols (works in a college) so is over everyday bringing food and wanting to babysit absolutely loads!! GREAT!

Millie eats mainly finger food but does love to hold a spoon and have a go. Re: bottles. Millie was late taking a bottle so now drinks aout of pretty much anything which is handy. We never had to give her a dummy so don't have to worry about that, (actually we did try it one night in the early days but she didn't like it)

Hope everyone is having a great day!!!!!!!

Lollypopzmummy · 16/07/2008 13:45

Yippeeeeeeeeeeeee! It's looking good for DD1's starting with a proper pre-school/nursery in September. I'm so happy she's not having to go to that skanky pre-school and have to sit in her poo if she forgets to let them know she needs changing

I'll only be paying for two hours per week and it's right in town so, even when I move, it'll be so easy to get to/from.
It's such a relief to know that she'll actually have some sort of social interaction, and I'll have some decent time with Lolly (or me time, if I plonk her in the local creche!) I'm sooooooooo happy right now, it's been such a long time since I've felt Ok like this, one problem down, now to tackle the rest of the world! Bring it ooooooon!

Update: I emailed a couple of estate agents appealing for them to reconsider their decision not to accept the council's "deposit guarantee" scheme and they replied giving me the reasons that they're not happy with it, looking at their reply I honestly don't blame them and shall be having some serious words with my council lady tomorrow!

Still, can't get me down off this high!

xXx

Hi Ladies1We had great day yesreday too1Went to do some boring stuff at West End that you have to wait around for 2 hours for but it was just around the corner from St Jamses park and Palace so we kept poping into the park.I tryed teaching Fay to feed the ducks but she kept eating the bread herself!!We saw some <
Masai woriors from Kenia in a full dress, had a chat with a police lady on horse (Fay freaked when the horse moved ) and saw a change of guard! Not bad for what we expected to be hellish day pushing paper..
You all probably know all this stuff but Jon Lewis does pdyshoe style shoes for £9, £4.50 as they are on sale now and I find that GAP socks are the only ones that dont slip off and they are doing sale now too.(it was a tip from sil, it would never occur to me to go sock shopping to GAP)
Lolly have you tryed hausing assotiations?

Twitmonster · 16/07/2008 16:50

Dal; with regards to how much milk he's taking in, if he has plenty of fluids, he's fine on that front, and yoghurt, cereal with milk etc all adds up calcium etc wise.

Hi to everyone else babytwit passed his hv checks with flying colours, so I must be doing something right [not sure what though]He weighs 18 lb something.

blummin washing machine has broken down [surprisingly]. It's ds'2s birthday on the last day of term and we're taking him to the cinema and McDonalds.
Just don't tell anyone.

Lollypopzmummy · 16/07/2008 19:53

Mica: I'll be asking my council woman tomorrow about housing associations and see if she's got any contact details (I'm pretty sure DH looked into it and our local one but can't remember why we gave up )
xXx

LisaLessLumpy · 17/07/2008 17:14

Hello all.

Sorry not got time to catch up with everyone just now but I hope you are all doing well.

Ben is 9 months and 12 days old, he has his bottom two teeth that came thru on the 4th and 14th July. Got him weighed today and he is 23lb 5oz He loves his baby walker and hates sitting still. He wants to walk everywhere but is nowhere near crawling. He refuses his dummy in the day now, so only has it at bedtime. He will drink milk out of a beaker but only a small amount so for the meantime I think it is better that he has his milk, if it is out of a bottle so be it. I'll give it a couple of months and then try again. He is a very happy smiley child and I am incredibly lucky
