Frizbe · 22/03/2008 17:39

Oh Astro, sorry, thought I'd posted about the bloods, all back and all fine just him being a worry wort.....

Cadmum · 22/03/2008 21:36

Thanks Astro and Friz... I know that you are right about his having little choice in the matter. I am finding that I have less and less patience for the whole thing.

Mostly just tired of being last when I am considered at all.

You are both amazingly kind for suggesting that I am a good mum because there are certainly days where I wonder... As for the traipsing around the planet part: I never imagined that I would have lived in 5 countries with 4 children when dh and I got married.

I know that you are right about dh having little choice in the matter. His job pays the bills and he is expected to be there on a moment's notice. I was only cranky about the too sick to participate in family life but well enough to work nonsense.

As it happens, both DH and DS1 are still feeling rotten. DS1 still has a fever today and is complaining about an earache. Great timing since there isn't much I could do shy of A&E on the Easter long week-end. Poor bug. I hate it when my kids are sick! DD1 and DS2 are coughing like they belong on the TB ward but at least they have enough energy to get on everyone's nerves. DD2 just keeps going and going like the Energiser Bunny! She is using the potty today about 50/50 which is an improvement since she has been back in pull ups since the move.

I must get to bed!

Thanks for letting me vent and helping me to see it from another perspective.

Happy Easter!

is the house we are trying to sell. pictures not great as twas a rainy grey day. agent says he will be back on dry sunny one to get some blue sky pics.
I have escaped intact from the in laws ( just) only a couple of minor arguements with MiL. She got huffy when I questioned the safety of some electrical sockets thay have added. And appaently no one should home school, it shouldn't be allowed says MiL.- back ground... I said it wouldn't be my 1st choice but I could see it might be the right choice sometimes, my siL ( her daughter ) home schools 6 for crying out loud.
Boy demoplised half an easter egg after lunch. and has a chocolate tractor to get through over the next few days.
Sympathy to all those with flaky dhs. ill kids and ickky bugs.

Frizbe · 24/03/2008 15:08

Uni, yay for getting house on market, I think you have the same hob as me ours will get replaced eventually (remember my oven broke, so now they don't match?)
The balcony area is nice, garden looks good too, hope these help sell it quickly for you.
re your mil, sounds like she doens't think much before she speaks

{{{{{Hugs}}}}} for the poorly kids and dh Caddy, its sure not nice on hols. Why do kids always get ear infections on hols??? I've been to A&E before with both ss and dd1 on hols/sundays, grrrr.

We've been out to Bakewell today all of us so not used to going anywhere with dh, that it made a lovely change. Kept snowing too, which was nice, as very picturesque! dd1 is the proud owner of a new bangle and two pegs with flowers on them now have pudding for tea too

laundrylover · 25/03/2008 12:26

Hi all,

LOL at your men observations - you are so right! DP is at A and E with his thumb which is still injured from his ski trip....

Well, we missed the snow again!!! Lots of flakes at Centerparcs but not a single one stuck - came home to see that there had been drifts and everything. Ah well, we had a good (if sometimes rather stressfulwith 18 faimly members!) weekend. Kids loved the pool but both mine and DPs bikes had punctures and we never fixed them so used the bike buggy as a push buggy which was fine. Centerparcs is great as long as you are not paying yourself.

I had a few glasses of fizz on my birthday and fell asleep at family get together so had to be put to bed with the girls at 10pm....went horse riding yesterday which was fun but legs are feeling it today. Am about to attempt to run 10k but may well cut it short

Hope all the poorly people are feeling better....Kiah has been off colour and has had a temp for days.

OP posts:
Frizbe · 25/03/2008 13:40

for poorly Kiah, dd2 has lots of snot, wonder if Kiah has same?

for lovely weekend though, even if you did miss the snow and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

laundrylover · 25/03/2008 14:14

Hi Friz, not much snot - just temp and no appetite.

Sorry to say that I have been amused by your DHs super fertility! Good news that his bloods came back clear....hope he feels better soon.

DP has not broken his thumb but has damaged ligaments...has to do cold pack so the packet of peas that aided my foot will be called into action!

OP posts:
UniS · 25/03/2008 16:24

snot- theres a lot of it about. boy frequently has a crusty nose at teh mo. poor mite has a rash round each thigh at teh mo. not sure if its been being in dizzys for teh weekend or a wrap that had too much soap left in it after washing.
Got to get on with stuff so just a quick Hi and Bye.
reminder- if you have kids world book day tokens ... spend them before Sunday- they run out. we have the Padington counting book from the £1 special set.

Cadmum · 26/03/2008 10:01

Happy Birthday Astro! I hope Kiah is up and running again soon. Sick little ones are heartbreaking.

Snot! Will it ever end?

The cough is the worst part for my clan. Keeps us up all night too...

DS1 was off the couch yesterday for the first time in a week and we dragged him up into the mountains where there was 50 cm of fresh snow for some sledging. (Not very clever after a week of being ill, I suppose ) Somebody should have told me that being parents of four would put a limit on spontaneity!

Uni: The house looks fabulous. I hope that it sells quickly. Do you know where you would rather live? I don't envy you the move. Maybe because my life is still in boxes from 4 moves ago... i hope the boy's rash is better. DD2's behind is a bit of a mess at the moment as well.

I have period #2 and am bleeding through my clothes like a 12 year old... Ridiculous! That will teach me for bragging about having only had one since DD2. Off to tackle Laundry Mountain.

Hello all! Is DTM ever about?

Cheers!

Cadmum · 26/03/2008 10:04

OOPS! That should read Happy Birthday laundrylover!

DD2 was in my lap and all of the message has been deleted in parts...

I promise to edit next time.

The original message to Astro was about the camera. Did you get one, yet?

laundrylover · 26/03/2008 10:12

Thanks Caddy.

Your period sounds awful - you need a mega mooncup - maybe a bucket???!!!

Just about to take DD1 and her friend who I have for the day into Manchester to the Science and Industry museum....need to pick up prescription for ADs on the way as ran out yesterday and will not survive the day without drugs!!!! DD2 in nursery - childcare all gone to pot for the hols.

Can see snow on the hills through the rain and mist so it won't be around for long i guess. You'll have to go sledging for us Caddy.

OP posts:
Cadmum · 26/03/2008 11:51

Moonbucket! Are you off to market a new product?

Astrophe · 26/03/2008 14:21

Hello all. Thanks for birthday wishes caddy - shall save them until september!Happy Birthday LL! Glad you had a nice time

Speaking of birthdays - any ideas for a pressie for DH's 30th? Its not until August, but I want to get something special, and funds will be tight as we will be on holidays by then - probably in France or Belgium.

Caddy, how are you feeling today? Has DH improved any?

DH and I fell out yesterday - he had the day off and we had a plan to go out for the day, but it didn't eventuate. I get stir crazy in the house all day when we had planned to go out, but the worst thing was DH's lack of enthusiasm for anything. He sat around on You Tube and faffing with computer stuff saying "well, I'm ready", and when I suggested ideas f what to do "yeah, ok, I guess...whatever". Grrrrrr.

He really is a good guy, and is generally reasonably helpful around the house etc, but he has a tendency to be emotionally detached, and to just emotionally 'opt out' of the family whenever he couldn't be bothered.

I think its a combination of introverted personality, missing bachelor-hood, loneliness (lack of close friends in this country), depression?, and plain old laziness. Hurts though, doesn't it Caddy?

Anyway, he was nice the morning, and we shall have a chat tonight.

Went to see a mate and her chicken poxy DS today, with DD in tow as she has been immunised. DS had to stay with another friend though, as I don't want him catching it before we go away next week.

Hope all the various bugs and sniffles have been dealt with in all of your families now

Oh, didn't get your camera message Caddy - except for one last week I think?

UniS · 26/03/2008 14:34

LOL at moonbucket. think I need one of those too at some point each month. I'm perfecting teh art of " boy, can you put this inteh laundry basket, that on teh bed, this on teh steps etc, to keep him occupied while I'm changing mooncup/tampons etc. hes far too nosey for comfort.

spoke to HV avout teh recuring nappy rash, she took a look and has given me a persciption for anti fungaul cream, it'll either clear it up and prove its fungal or won;t in which case its not fungal.... seems worth a try. Might be the leveage I need to get dh to sort out his fungal toe nails .... Wot is it with men and Drs.

Thank you all for nice comments on the house.

Happy birthday LL. My nappies are blowing in the breze in your honour.

Frizbe · 26/03/2008 23:26

dunno about Men and Dr's it more men and dentists here, ss said the following to dh Monday night before he went back to mums, when pressed on what he wanted for his 10th birthday 'I really want you to go to the dentist Dad, just that, nothing else' I went and hid, totally off his own back, the girls backed him up too for it to have to get to this stage really.

Uni hope the rash clears up soon for ds.

Caddy I dunno 50cm of fresh snow sounds good to me even after a week of illness

Astro for your botched day with dh, that sort of thing really gets on my nerves too (not that I have to worry about that much these days with us both working as much as we are doing )

LL good day out then?

dd1 appears to have an earache here, could be a long night

UniS · 27/03/2008 20:29

have spent a big chunck of today exploring teh local enviroment- or in other words spend 60 minutes walking up your own street with a 2 yr old who finds EVERYTHING fasinating. It takes FOREVER to walk up teh road these days we have to stop and look at every man hole cover, every body working in their garden, half teh cars, all teh motorbikes, any cats, some of teh bins and some of teh garden walls.
rool on tomorrow. I'm working teh evening, slightly bricking myself as i havn;t done comedy club sound for Years and years , hope I havn;t forgeten everything. only doing it at last minute coz chap who would be doing it is at his fathers funeral. His kit, his van ect. I'm collecting the keys and hoping its all in the van.
How was teh ear achey one friz, did you get much sleep?

Frizbe · 27/03/2008 22:27

Uni, good luck with tonight then sure it'll all be fine. I know what you mean re the road, we're hampered by the stuffing dog muck, which lovely owners leave on the next road over as well (there are no houses that face onto it, so people seem to assume its nice to let their dogs poo and not clean up after them ) I spend half the time yelling at both girls to avoid it.....or picking the youngest up and then she wants up all the time

dd1 woke up at 1am and yelled for dh, so he had to go and pacify her, she didn't want me he came back to bed about 2, then dd2 woke at 5.50, oh joy.

Frizbe · 28/03/2008 21:56

dd1 has gotten into the school we all wanted her to go too, hurrah

Have a great weekend girls.

Cadmum · 29/03/2008 08:10

Uni: I hope your evening went off without a hitch...

Friz: Great news about dd and shcool.

We have not been so fortunate here... Way too long a story for this thread though!

Have a nice week end all!

Frizbe · 29/03/2008 21:04

Caddy can you summize at all??

Frizbe · 29/03/2008 21:45

Oh and something to make you all laugh.
dd1 takes new slip on plimsole shoes off in Cafe Nero today, leaves them on floor milkshake arrives and we split a quarter of it into a cup for dd2, 10 seconds later, dd2 is fidgiting on her chair, slips, drops shake straight into dd1's empty shoe, I kid you not, she couldn't have been a better shot I had to laugh, even the barista thought it funny as they came to help clear up the mess. Meridian bless her ran to the loo's to wash it out and blow dry it, whilst I helped mop up any excess that had splashed onto the floor dd1 not too impressed though, I told her that's why she shouldn't take her shoes off in cafe's!

Cadmum · 30/03/2008 09:51

Friz: LOL about the shoe. I love these kinds of accidents. Glad the barista was willing to help mop up. (Can you tell that it has been too long since I have been in a cafe where I speak the language and might find service?!?)

School summary will have to wait until I have an hour!

Cheers all. Have a good Sunday. Did the clocks go forward there today as well?

I am tired. I want that hour BACK!

Astrophe · 30/03/2008 16:10

lol at the milk shake - glad it was a good day and you could see the funny side - on a bad day that would have sent me over the edge!

I was thankful for a good day on Thurs (? - it was when the sun was out?) - was putting the rotary clothes line back up in the garden, into its little hold. I shoved it in hard - cue big squirt of disgusting, stinky, mouldy water leaping up into my mouth! Aaaargh, it was so revolting and it tasted so foul. DC thought it was hilarious as I was retching and spitting, and then had to have a shower as I could smell it, even after I had washed my face! Gross. But luckily it was a good day, so I could laugh too!

DH has been - um...difficult the last few days. Not being mean, just very emotionally flat and detached. I asked him about it, we had a chat about him not being happy and fulfilled There is a thread on here somewhere, but I name changed to Dashed if you want to see it). So we are not fighting, not arguing, but both feeling sad and not sure what to do Why does this always happen before hlidays? We are due to go away in the nw van on Wednesday.

So sorry about the school thing Caddy - rant if you like.

Glad about DD's school Friz!

UniS · 30/03/2008 20:29

comedy club was fine. I'm missing that lost hour too. finished and home about 1am on saturday .
breakthrough weekend ... boy has worn pants for the 1st time and eaten brocli willingly for the 1st time in months and months.
sympathy for those with flaky dh's. mine is doing his ironing to top gear, its teh one with teh race accross london so I'm on te laptop waiting for teh good bit.

ttfn
