oh no SOL. poor you and K.

Eddas · 25/02/2008 11:27

oh sol hope you and K are feeling better soon.

WO, poor c with the coughing.

Horrible when dc's are ill they are tough little cookies though and will be feeling much better than us parents who wish we were ill rather than them. I have been told many times that when babies aren't well they just conserve energy so they don't look like they're doing much but don't worry it's just their way of getting better

DH went out last night and has ben sick 3 times this morning pmsl! I had a bit of a night with him as he's a nightmare to sleep next to when he's had too many. First thing was a turned to face him(whilst sleeping) and got a rude awaking when he let his elbow smack straight into my face. Nice. So promptly turned my back to him then he does this leg-kick thing where he puts it right over me arse. oh for a spare room for the 'had one too many nights' He does always apologise in the morning

Went to preschool this morning. The committee(inlcuding me) have decorated the toilets over half term and not one of the 4 members of staff said a thing about them not expecting much but some kind of acknowledgement that we've done something would be nice. I mean they were rank before Here's hoping for a comment or 2 when I pick dd up. Or maybe tomorrow when the chairlady is there I live in hope

must go change and be off to work soon. Oh and maybe get a bag of food/clothes ready for ds. Why do I always leave it til the last minute

StealthPolarBear · 25/02/2008 11:35

i'm going to an MN meet up soon!

elkiedee · 25/02/2008 11:42

SPB, I'mquite nervous. I wouldn't choose to stay at home forever even if I could afford it but my job isn't a "career" job - I've had spells of enjoying it and spells of hating it. I'll miss Danny and baby groups and I'm worried that I'm not going to see anyone at all outside work, whereas at the moment I get to see people at baby groups and stuff. And I'll miss D, he's going to a childminder.

Who are you meeting and when? I'm hoping to get to meet a couple of London May 2007 mummies (from mumsnet) this week if all goes according to plan.

elkiedee · 25/02/2008 11:48

and their babies as well (both first timers I think)

CaptainDippy · 25/02/2008 11:52

Totally no time to catch up, but just bookmarking - hello!! Computer is still being a complete bugger Just been extremely technical and turned the wretched thing off and on again and after 40 mins it has finally let me into MN - Not sure how long it will last though and I have a hungry P to feed, so got to buzz again. Hope everyone is doing ok ....... much happier and healthier in DippyLand, which is good. DH away on course for three weeks now ; but [smile becuase my little big girl is four today!!!! When did she get so big - and ooooooh, I just looked at the computer clock and she was born exactly two mins ago, four years ago today!!

Ouch!!!!! Twenty mins time I'll in theatre being stitched up!!!

Bramshott · 25/02/2008 11:53

Morning all!

Well a busy weekend here - I had to go to Birmingham for work on Sat which was knackering but a good day, and DH survived his first whole day alone with both girls. TBH I think he has been a bit nervous around Orla previously - not knowing what to do etc, but since Sat he has been more hands on and confident - he put them both in the bath last night without me asking him to!!

I have also (I think) stopped breastfeeding which I am feeling a bit sad and ambivalent about. I was planning to carry on until she turned 1, but then because I wasn't there on Sat, she had a bottle at bedtime and took it absolutely fine, so I thought oh well, maybe let's leave it there? So she had a bottle last night too and seemed perfectly happy. Although I got into a weepy mess about it last night at bedtime. But then I am figuring that I will be a weepy mess even if I wait another 4 weeks and then stop, so might as well do it now and get back into my underwired bras! Also has the benefit of me already having fed her for the last time (Fri night) without realising it was the last time and getting weepy. Ho hum. She is definitely my last baby, so I will never breastfeed again (welling up now at the thought )

Sorry to hear about all the poorly babies - O has a nasty cough which keeps her up a bit, but is on the mend I think.

elkiedee · 25/02/2008 12:06

Happy birthday to K, Dippy!

Time to get ready to take D to Grizzly Jolly Babies. Had hoped to have my reheated coffee first but I don't think it's going to happen, but I guess I should have drunk it while he was asleep. He had a good nap today, a little more than an hour, but awake isn't happy being put down.

Sorry Bramshott about the feeding.

Hope you all have ok afternoons.

CaptainDippy · 25/02/2008 12:21

LOL @ "Grizzly Babies", Elkie

YEy to DH being more confident with girls after w/e Bramshott

Right, lunch .......

mammyjo · 25/02/2008 12:41

Afternoon all! Happy Birthday K! Dippy, hope you all have a lovely day!

SOL, sorry your trip was so crap. Poor little K. Hope she is better soon. How are you feeling now? Did you see the gp yet, or is it this week? Sorry, cant remember when you said you had your appointment. Glad to hear you have your mum coming over for a bit of support. {{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}} to you xxx

Pesha, I laughed when I saw your post about not staying up until Lost came on last night. I normally watch it, but was in bed by 8.45pm as I was whacked!

Oooggs, wow to Jack walking!! Bless him. No stopping him now then! Dont think F will be walking any time soon, ds was already off by this age but he never crawled. F crawls everywhere so I guess she doesnt need to walk as much as he did!

Have a good day all. I feel a bit rough, up in the night throwing up. Seems I have the bug that dh had yesterday. Feel a bit better already though, so hopefully it is just a short lived thing.
F is poorly again. Have taken her to the gp this morning as she had a temp of over 40c. Nothing to find, just viral - again.

liath · 25/02/2008 13:42

SOL, so sorry the trip was crap - you sound so low, hope things improve for you.

Hugs to all the poorly babies. No real advice for the cough, either WO (apart from using earplugs..). DS has a really good going croupy cough - the amount of bugs doing the rounds at the moment is awful, roll on spring!

Bramshott, it's kind of bittersweet stopping BF I'm sure - sad but with the compensation of wearing nice bras again!!

Pesha · 25/02/2008 15:03

Had a quick scan through but not proper catch up.

SOL - sorry K is poorly Hope she picks up soon and your mum coming gives you a bit of a break.

Dippy - happy birthday dd1!!!

Well dp's car is an insurance write off, doesnt seem too badly damaged but is a coupe and parts etc are expensive.

On top of that my car is now making a whistling noise and knocking itself out of 2nd gear so going into garage tomorrow, please let it not be anything expensive. And my washing machine is broken and not draining water out so all dd's pe kit is stuck inside. Luckily we bought it 3rd march last year so its still within its 12 months. And I broke my phone at the weekend, have insurance through my bank account luckily but still have to pay the excess. Cant believe we've had 2 cars, the washer drier and my mobile all fuck up within a week

Oh shit best go get kids...

NorthernLurker · 25/02/2008 17:14

Afternoon all

SOL - poor little K and poor old you - pleased you've got your mum coming over. Tbh - I think you need some time off work, just to relax a bit with B and K and take things a bit slower till you are all back to full strength. Any chance of that?

Eddas - hope somebody said 'thank you'

Dippy - hope the computer is restored to full health soon!

Bramshott - stopping breastfeeding is sad but well done you for going on with it for so long and stopping at a time that was obviously so right for O.

Mammyjo - poor little F as well - Spring soon though and that should see a bit of an end to the bugs! Hope you feel better soon as well.

Pesha - car diasters and the washing machine - how grim for you. Hope they fix it soon - as it's still under guarantee do you think they would give you a brand new one (hopeful facial expression)

Well - we had a house viewing today which seemed to go ok and as a consequence the house is super tidy! Need to go make girls some tea soon and boot them off to bed then I can do some prep for the interview of got next week - and mumsnet of course!

elkiedee · 25/02/2008 18:24

Sorry to hear about your K being ill, SOL, somehow I missed that earlier on. How's she been feeling today?

NorthernLurker · 25/02/2008 18:27

Hi Elkie - how was your grizzly baby amongst the jolly ones?

cazboldy · 25/02/2008 18:27

Hi all.....can't stop.....not sure what is going on here atm!

tesco just delivered and haven't got loads of items

Ooogs - do you mind me asking why you had no children at your wedding? and did that affect them, or cause any arguments at the time?

I wouldn't go without my dc - even if it was my brother's wedding - in fact especially as it is his wedding! they are his nephews, and his neice fgs!

NorthernLurker · 25/02/2008 18:28

Aaaargh on yor behalf Caz - have they just sold out or has your delivery person left it all on the van?

cazboldy · 25/02/2008 19:02

NL - have just had a phone call - 4 crates of items left at the depot, and they will re-deliver!

NorthernLurker · 25/02/2008 19:03
  • when will this be?
oooggs · 25/02/2008 19:09

caz - we did have children at our wedding - well only our NIECE who was 7 years old and our bridesmaid. We also were married abroad and had both sets of parents, my brother and dh's niece there.

When we had our evening reception a few weeks later, same sort of thing, 7.30pm start, NIECE was there in her bridesmaid dress and nobody brought little ones (their choice) there were a 14 & 17 year old there, but not many of our friends had kids.

I have not answered his email, I have 'don't spoil it for them' from my dad ringing in my ears and I didn't sleep well because of this.

I don't want to go as he had made it clear that they don't want them there, but could accomodate . Thinking of just not turning up.

oooggs · 25/02/2008 19:10

of and it didn't affect them as we have been married 6 7 8 years and my brother was single and living at home

cazboldy · 25/02/2008 19:20

NL they said tonight......

Ooogs - how horrible! I don't think you will be missing much by the sound of it!
I wouldn't go, and I would explain that you felt unwelcome
I know how you feel about your dad's comment though. when my brother was organising his wedding (last October)his mil passed a comment about how many children there would be - my 5, my nephew and the 2 my parents foster- at the sit down meal, and I was a bit put out - my mum started on about how it was their special dat etc etc warning me not to say anything, but in the end she got so fed up with her, she told her it wasn't her fault that her children hadn't any children yet, so get over it lol!
she was awful though - although she is a nice woman usually, she went a bit mad during the run up to the wedding!

cazboldy · 25/02/2008 19:22

or as someone - i think it was NL? said earlier, maybe just show your face for an hour if you are worried about causing upset.....surely this woman understands if she has children???

Sexonlegs · 25/02/2008 19:24

Evening all.

Runny, meant to say what great news re the job offers!!

Caz, hope you are ok. You sound v peed off. Hope you get your shopping soon.

MJ, poor poorly F. She is suffering of late isn't she.

Hope everyone else is ok. Sorry for lack of personals - head is mush.

All okish here. Dh's trip to Dublin was cancelled - hurrah!! He took K to the docs this afternoon for me just to get his opinion. She seems a bit brighter, but lack of food/milk has made her so tired and limp poor lamb. No more V, but has D - yuk!!
Mum came over which was lovely. Feel crap myself - not sick, but earache and sinuses playing up - more than likely from the flight.

NL, I think you are probably right re taking time off from work, but not really possible atm. Although I am taking the next 5 Tuesdays off to use up my holiday entitlement, so will only be working 2 days a week. I am starting to question this whole work thing. I am finding my job quite stressful, and also not feeling like I am giving 100% to anything in my life. The trouble is, can't really afford not to work, and as much as I adore K, could not be a sahm. So difficult to know what to do for the best.

Sorry, waffled for ages

oooggs · 25/02/2008 19:35

caz - it is that comment in the email 'just like yours' which is winding me up
