StealthPolarBear · 25/02/2008 07:00

what an incredibly crap night
Lol at this thread, glad it's back to 'catching up' length when i get up! Can i nominate "is she into caramalising stuff?" for the next title? (or something like that)

StealthPolarBear · 25/02/2008 07:01

ellie & pesha, glad you had a good time!

NorthernLurker · 25/02/2008 07:13

Morning SPB - sorry to read of your bad night? I'm up early for once. Have to do school run then have a bloke coming to look at the house. After that I think I'll take B into town and get something yummy for my tea as dh is away now till Thursday (aaargh)
Shall I go chinese a la M&S or stick to traditional British a la M&S???

geordiemacminx · 25/02/2008 07:21

Hey ladies - I'm back fter a weekend of visting dp's famkily. Had a grand time. Had a wee catch up but cant remember anything!! Hope everyone is well.

Oooggs - wow to walking baby - C is just about there too, standing, cruising and pushing his toys around.

Hi GMM

SPB - no idea why there's a stray ? in my post - sorry

StealthPolarBear · 25/02/2008 07:42

GMM - we need you! Isn't hand cramp a small price to pay?
NL, I would go for italian, sorry! Although I love chinese, just there's never any chinese ready meals for a vegetarian ho hates sweet and sour! This is going to sound awful but I almost wish DH was away for a few days That is awful when you are wishing yours wasn't, sorry
T currently pushing the hoover across the floor - that's going to come in handy when he's older Although he still lives in fear when it is on, he gets his own back when it's not plugged in!

NorthernLurker · 25/02/2008 07:53

don't really feel like Italian...will let you know what I decide.

Don't feel awful SPB - it's nice to have a bit of peace - and unlimited pc time - three kids by yourself for 4 days is quite knackering though - at least 2 of mine are at school - Dippy's got three at home and her dh is away isn't he? Are things a bit tough with your o/h? Bad nights can wreck havoc can't they?

T very cute with the hoover!

liath · 25/02/2008 07:59

Morning,

SPB, sorry it was a pants night.

NL we've had very good peking duck from M&S! I'm minus DH till thursday too so maybe a wee trip to M&S is called for here too .

Oooggs, seems outrageous of your brother IMHO - surely if they're having a wedding abroad then the whole point of the reception would be to have all the family there!!

Pesha, LOL at the hot-tub talk .

Have a lovely meet GMM, WO & EB.

Ds seems a bit croupy this morning but happy enough in himself. I had an amusing conversation with dd last night -

dd - Can I eat snot, mummy?
Me - I'm not sure that's a very good idea.
dd - But my snot tastes nice mummy.
me -

NorthernLurker · 25/02/2008 08:17

are all our dh's at some sort of convention?

school run now - back later in between hoovering etc for viewing

StealthPolarBear · 25/02/2008 08:29

lol at your ds liath!
NL, yes, i can see 3 children must be tough things not bad with dh at all, but if he ent away for a couple of days i could co sleep more comfortably and not worry abt meals or tidying. not that dh particularly expects me to tidy but it's horrible being at work all day then walking into a dump. I am a cow for even thinking that but i'd also go to bed when t does...his brother's stag do must be coming up soon, surely??

StealthPolarBear · 25/02/2008 08:32

dd, liath, sorry
if your ds started talking like that i'd be very impressed, even if it was about snot

liath · 25/02/2008 09:13

SPB, he seems more interested in producing vast quantities of the stuff just now.

I sometimes find it easier when DH isn't here, not that he isn't a fab dad etc but at least then I don't have unrealistic expectations of how much help I'm going to get.

NorthernLurker · 25/02/2008 09:29

SPB - I can see what you mean. I'm lokking forward to not having to shush dh when we go to bed - am paranoid about waking B and he has extra noisy keys, belt, mobile phone etc etc. He also has an asthma inhaler to use before bed but I 've 'trained' him to use that in the bathroom now! Poor thing is probably glad to get away for some peace!

weeonion · 25/02/2008 10:33

good morning folks. how are we all, esp those with dp/dh away?

C has a stinking cold and a bad cough. its the first time she has been sick in her 10mths so i guess i have been lucky but just feel useless to help her. she was really sorry for herself through the night. dp went in and one stage to comfort her, didnt work so i went to help out, only to find him standing over the cot - waving and dancing! WTF! how exactly her thought that was gonna help i dont know! she has had her first calpol ever - not impressed with the taste and is now having a kip.
what do you recommend for a cough? i have a docs appt later so we'll see what he says!

NorthernLurker · 25/02/2008 10:38

baby has cough - I recommend.........putting the baby monitor inside a thick sock. You'll still hear her if she cries but the continual cough, cough, cough - that they sleep through (how?) - will be somewhat muffled.

Was that the sort of help you were looking for??

elkiedee · 25/02/2008 10:40

Morning all

Had my first experience of exploding poo this morning, went up his back and through his vest and babygro. Ugh. I ran a bath to clean him up and hand rinsed the worst stuff off his clothes as it wasn't possible to put it straight in the washing machine at that moment.

I'm a bit worried that D's going to be ill for our last week full time together and I'm not going to be able to take him out to the usual groups etc. Am crossing my fingers as it was at his normal nappy filling time - 8.30 just as dp leaves the house for work, and afterwards he went into normal pre-nap grizzle and fell asleep in the buggy. Think he'll wake up very soon, am going to make a special effort to offer him lots to drink and otherwise treat him normally and hope for the best unless he starts behaving in a way which is out of the ordinary.

gmm, sorry to hear about your computer, are all our computers getting together to play up now? Leaky, Dippy and someone else have been having trouble with their pcs too. Glad that you had a good time and envious of your mini-MN coffee morning, hope you all have a great time, and that one of you finds time to report back.

StealthPolarBear · 25/02/2008 10:43

that was your first exploding poo experience??
hope he's not ill - sure he isn't just making up for lost time
I too am getting very protective of my last little bit of time off! Are you going back FT or PT?

elkiedee · 25/02/2008 10:45

PMSL at NL's suggestion. D's cough keeps waking him up so he cries, unfortunately. Can't do much other than calpol/medised/affection and comfort and helping him to get sleep when he/we need(s) it.

elkiedee · 25/02/2008 10:46

I'm going back full time.

StealthPolarBear · 25/02/2008 11:02

That must be really difficult, coughing wakes me up, so it must be so hard for a little baby Hope C is better soon wo.
Elkie, how are you feeling about going back? Who is looking after D? I obviously am enjoying the last few weeks but in a way I want to be back just to get it over with!

Sexonlegs · 25/02/2008 11:03

Morning all.

Haven't a hope in hell of catching up. Hope you are all well.

Ellie, hope you had a lovely birthday.

Well, we went, and it would have been fine, but the evening we arrived, Katie was sick, and has had v and d ever since. We thought she was getting better - had some solid food Sunday lunch time for the first time since Thursday, but then this morning she puked all her milk back.

Feeling so low. Dh off to Dublin this afternoon and back tomorrow night.
Thankfully my mum is coming over.

Need to go, K awake. She is just so weak and tired I feel so sad.

Back later.

StealthPolarBear · 25/02/2008 11:05

oh no! Poor K, I bet that was so stressful. Glad your mum is coming today, can she look after the 2 of them while you have a sleep or a walk or something that gives you time to yourself?
