NorthernLurker · 24/02/2008 00:26

SPB - bI looked at the nappy thread - it's one of the saddest things I've seen on here.

Hi Pinions - good to 'see' you

StealthPolarBear · 24/02/2008 08:47

Hi Pinions, was wondering what had happened to you yesterday. A lot of people seem absent at the moment, but you've been gone ages!!

leakyR · 24/02/2008 10:03

Hello ladies

I know it's been aaaaages. Our laptop is busted and back at Toshiba who are being slow and difficult about mending it. I don't have any other access to a computer so after this it will be a while until I'm back again.

We're all fine. George is gearing upto walk any time and enjoying nursery although he's had a cold since he started and at the mo has got a squitty bum thanks to all those shared germs.

We should be moved within a month, but hopefully I'll be back online before then.

Hope you're all well.

Haven't read the thread. Is someone pg?

Eddas · 24/02/2008 10:06

Morning everyone,

Nice to see you Leaky. Don't think anyone's pg, do you mean the egg-shaped bump reference in the title? that was because my dd bumped her head at the swimming pool and ended up with a HUGE egg-shaped bump and I mean huge!

oooggs · 24/02/2008 11:13

morning - yes it is constantly quiet on this thread, loads missing, mammyjo hasn't been on for a bit and Ange in ages and ..........

making a chilli for lunch, ds1 has a party at jump this pm - oh the joys

work ok pinions?????

elkiedee · 24/02/2008 11:53

Hi Leaky, miss seeing you around. Shame on Toshiba for not getting their act together fixing the laptop. Glad to hear nursery's going well. Good luck with packing and moving if you're kept away from us before that. And presumably with being connected to the internet at your new ho9me.

StealthPolarBear · 24/02/2008 12:06

Shall we start a new thread to entice some people back?

weeonion · 24/02/2008 12:17

good morning folks!

i was looking back at our stats thread and so many people havent posted in ages

hope yu are all having a grand weekend - we had a lovely time in the country. C was on best charming behaviour.

StealthPolarBear · 24/02/2008 12:20

Hi weeonion!
Glad you have had a good time

liath · 24/02/2008 12:22

Hi folks!

Well DH has bogged off ski-ing so I'm on my own with the kids till Thursday night. Will probably end up decamping to my parent's house I expect!

Presume SOL has decided to go, hope she has a good time despite the lack of kettles.

Am starting to think about dd's 3rd birthday party so any hot tips from CD, Luce and other party veterans gratefully received . I'm hoping to do pizza-making......this could be a messy mistake !

StealthPolarBear · 24/02/2008 12:29

hi liath!
Just x posted with you on another thread- are we the only ones on MN at the moment? Must get on...

elkiedee · 24/02/2008 12:39

Well, it was bound to quieten down, I think we're still one of the busier postnatal threads, hopefully we won't go down to one which lasts two months.

StealthPolarBear · 24/02/2008 13:52

well since I have nothing more interesting to post I would like to let you all know that T is stinky for the third time today.
Wow life as a mum is all glamour isn't it?

elkiedee · 24/02/2008 14:16

What fun for you, ick. I read the nappy thread, at least I assume it was the one. I was expecting it to be someone saying that she only changes her baby twice a day herself. Still, it was quite shocking!

I'm trying to pluck up the courage to pick up the phone and make a couple of calls, and then I think we should take D out for a bit, think we all getting a little bored here, certainly D and I are.

mammyjo · 24/02/2008 14:28

Hello! Havent been around for a few days and havent even tried to catch up yet I worked Thurs and Fri which means I leave the house at 7am and dont get back until after 7pm. Basically means no MN time for me!
I actually went out yesterday to watch the rugby with some friends. Mum and dad had the dc's, and I got very very drunk. It was fab
Feeling a little dodgy today, but not as bad as dh who seems to have picked up a tummy bug as he has a squitty bum and has been throwing up. Initially I told him he was sick due to excessive alcohol, but it looks like it is more than that.

Hope everyone is doing ok, will try and catch up later xxxx

runnyhabbit · 24/02/2008 14:36

Afternoon all

My friend (whose waters broke a few weeks ago) had a baby girl yesterday morning, weighing 3lb8oz. Just over 2wks prem, but both seem well.

W was much better last night - slept all the way through, and has been eating more today. Hopefully just something disagreed with him, and its out of system iyswim.

Dh dad and dh uncle are coming round later to plaster the bathroom ceiling. And we've finally got a bathroom door (just needs to be fitted) I am so fecked off with this bathroom. (obv not the bathroom, but just all the work that still needs to be done)

I read that nappy changing thread too. Tbh, I think that the mum may have deeper issues.

runnyhabbit · 24/02/2008 14:37

meant to put just over 8wks prem

oooggs · 24/02/2008 18:10

Jack has just taken his first steps!!!!!! he is 10 mths old and has taken 5 . James was 16 mths before he did it.

yes too many people missing

liath · 24/02/2008 18:38

Wow - well done Jack! Did he look shocked or just pleased with himself, oooggs?

elkiedee · 24/02/2008 18:48

Runny, good news about your friend and baby, hope you'll let us know further news about them both.

Eek and congratulations to Jack on those first steps.

MJ, good that you had a fun day yesterday. Sorry your dh isn't well, though I confess when I first read the words "squitty bum" etc I assumed you meant your dcs not an adult.

Eddas · 24/02/2008 19:08

wow oooggs don't think ds will be long, he keeps letting go and then standing for a few seconds(getting longer each time now) EEEKKK

Just been thinking about birthday parties for ds and then dd, his will be my friends and their dc here for a couple of hours. DD's i'm hoping will be in the church hall(where preschool is) and will do party games etc. Been getting ideas from the party section on here. Just love mn, always comes up trumps Was a bit worried before reading threads on here, thought i'd need an entertainer or something but really want it cheap. So have loads of party game ideas(simple as they're only 4ish) and will do food etc so should be fine. I do like to think ahead mind you want to book the hall asap so that's the main reason for forward planning

ELLIE is cd still having internet issues? Would you be able to text her my number please? She's supposed to be coming here on friday and want to confirm/sort details etc. Thank you

StealthPolarBear · 24/02/2008 19:53

Wow oooggs - the first April 07 walker (I think?) - I bet he sleeps well tonight

Gone are the days when I couldn't keep up with the thread

Maveta · 24/02/2008 20:23

Hi All,

Congrats to Jack on his first steps Oooggs!! very scary

Well the meal today went really well, lots of work but everyone enjoyed although I've never cooked thai before for people who had never eaten it! They ate it all up and seemed to enjoy but were also slightly perplexed lol. weird.

Also, hopefully our run of 3 bad things is now over. First the car seat. Then the washing machine. Then last night N pulled the cord on the Apple Mac laptop and it fell off the counter and smashed the screen Amazingly missed hitting N on the way down and he didn't even looked surprised but obviously my relief at that was big enough to (at least momentarily) eclipse the disbelief that something else had broken.

Kind of feels like a crash course in parenting, you know, learn to let go of attachment to material things. Slowly watching loved objects of pre-baby life die a hideous death and the sticky hands of a midget marauder Immediately was most worried that we'd have lost the info on the hard drive as (very very stupidly) didn't have any of the 3 years' worth of photos on there backed up. And we have a Lacie sat right here, just kept not getting around to it. I will be GUTTED if that's the case but a few people so far have said it most likely is just the screen. will have it checked tomorrow.

Also FINALLY sold some nappies to pay for some new ones which I'm chuffed about. And finally wrote to the shop that sold me some nappies which I'd been really unhappy with (re. quality and performance) and they have said there was a faulty batch and they'll send me replacements! so I'm dead pleased at that very unexpected result.
