oh dear, crappy illnesses hope the lo's are not too much of a pita tonight.

Elkie, ah yes blanket lady. How lovely of her to make it and deliver it

RH, well done on the job, welcome to the exciting world of accounts

BORED BORED BORED tonight

elkiedee · 22/02/2008 21:20

Poor SPB and oooggs, hope things get better

NorthernLurker · 22/02/2008 21:33

Important - SPB and Oooggs - do you have large bars of Dairy Milk in the house??

On no account attempt a tricky night shift with sick child/ren without a good kilo of the stuff. You need the strength - so send your respective dh's out to 24hr supermarket now!!!

You know it makes sense

Thinking of you both as you fight the good fight....

Eddas · 22/02/2008 21:34

nl, you make me laugh

NorthernLurker · 22/02/2008 21:36
  • hi Eddas - how are you?
oooggs · 22/02/2008 21:38

nl - you're funny

yes lots of chocolate in the house, dh working til 10.30pm

thinking of you katy & and I am now off to bed night x

NorthernLurker · 22/02/2008 21:40

Night Oooggs - may the force be with you! So glad you've got supplies in - being up in the night makes me ravenous - and therefore grumpy so a bit of chocolate is a lifesaver for me

2HotCrossBunnies · 22/02/2008 22:05

Evening all - just spent an age catching up on the thread and have no doubt forgotten it all...

so - Happy belated birthday to POTC, hope your mystery cake was nice and the new man winds his neck in a little !
Oooggs sorry to hear Jack is poorly, ear infections are horrid. Hope the choc helps.
Runny - well done on 2 job offers, brilliant!
SOL - hope the skiing weekend goes well (if you've gone) or that you have a nice quiet time (if you haven't!).
SPB - chin up!
WO - enjoy the party. 12 April is DS2's first birthday !

Been very busy here this week and not managed to get onto MN unti tonight from Tuesday. Have interviewed several nanies for when I go back to work. Now I'm not paid a pitance but HOW do people afford it????? The pay rate is not too bad on a net basis but most of the decent, qualified, experienced ones want their tax paying. If we do that then I would be going back to work for the love of it, and I don't love it. Pants. Can't really do any other child care choices as DS1 needs taking and collecting to his nursery school at 9 and 12 and then looking after in the afternoon. If I'm having to pay someone to do that they may as well look after DS2 too - no extra cost for another child to the nanny. Still will keep up the good search...

Hope all have good weekends. We have the in-laws here as FIL is 60 on the 29th (or should that be 15 ) so we are all going out for dinner. Also tomorrow is mine and DH's 12th year anniversary of getting together - not that I am allowed to count that anymore supposed to just be wedding anniversaries...

NorthernLurker · 22/02/2008 22:07

have you heard from any nannies who want to bring their own child as well? As ds1 is out at nursery school some of the day that might work for you - and I think they are a bit cheaper but just as experienced

StealthPolarBear · 23/02/2008 08:03

Morning, night not too bad after all, he was only up twice, he musthave heard me wingeing
Where on earth is everyone? We seem to be very low on numbers! Shall I take the register?

Eddas · 23/02/2008 09:08

I'm here miss SPB

I need a break from dd. Thank goodness preschool is back on monday. She misses it so much, she's been asking everyday when she can go back. DH is supposed to be taking both dc's to a soft play place today so I can get some peace and sort out yet more of our clutter

Will also b changing over ds' clothes from the 6-9 months to the 9-12 months He's only 10 and a bit months I guess tis a bit odd though as dd was always in the next size up ie at 10 months was in 12-18months she was very tall, and still is. No-one believes she's only 3

rght, off to chivvy dh along and out the door. Only been up a few minutes and dd is getting on my very short nerves

DloeufyDoo · 23/02/2008 09:58

mORNING.wELL DONE rUNNY ON 2 JOB OFFERS[SMILE]
eeK TO POORLY BABIES.hOPE EVERYONE HAS A GOOD DAY[SMILE]

elkiedee · 23/02/2008 10:27

Morning all, glad to hear SPB that you got some sleep.

I think the May thread who normally post a fraction of us has been busier the last couple of days. Has everyone except me found a life or are we just too tired? Hope that if SOL and family have gone to Slovenia it's less stressful than it sounded or than she feared.

Our night was ok in the end but came to a premature end at 5 am and his first morning nap was very short.

Eddas, the more I talk to other people about this the more I think label clothes sizes for babies are quite theoretical. At least you get more wear out of his clothes that way. Do you have all the 9-12 month clothes all ready and waiting?

oooggs · 23/02/2008 10:47

katy glad you had a better night - so did we with dts 7.15pm - 7am shame ds1 didn't follow suit

NorthernLurker · 23/02/2008 10:57

so pleased you had better nights Oooggs and Katy - can I eat all your chocolate now??
Got to get ready in a minute - we are going to the tip and the farm shop then over to a friends for the afternoon. I've just had Simnal cake for breakfast-is that very bad? I absolutely love it -mmmm marzipan! And luckily enough dh loathes it - so no rivals for my cake bliss

Eddas · 23/02/2008 11:08

oooggs, maybe one day they all sleep through in the same night [fingers crossed]

Elkie, I agree the labels don't mean too much on the clothes, varies from shop to shop too. Yep I have 9-12 months stuff waiting and loads for over 1 too. Only because I have 2 very kind friends that want to offload their ds' clothes Cheaper for me too which is much appreciated as we have cashflow issues

Hi NL

elkiedee · 23/02/2008 11:56

Hi Dooby, I thought it was you but I've just understood the Easter spelling (oeuf is French for egg).

runnyhabbit · 23/02/2008 13:18

Crap night here.

W woke up at 2am screaming the house down - he had been sick everywhere Stripped him down, bathed him, and then brought him to bed with us. An hour later he threw up again Then he slept for a bit, and at 4.30am, he threw up again

Woke at 7am, really fretful, but not sleeping, so thought he might have been hungry. Big mistake giving him ff. It came back up as quick as it went down

But, he's been fine in himself - smiling, chatting etc. He's managed 3/4 weetabix with a tiny bit of milk, and kept it down.

I, on the other hand, am propping my eyes open with matchsticks. I've had my haircut this morning, so I do look a bit presentable.

Hope tonight is better. Have a good weekend all
x

Idreamofchocolate · 23/02/2008 15:53

Just popping in as actually have a few minutes to myself; DH is taking the DDs to the PILs as they are staying the night so we can GO OUT!!!!! Miracle! And boy do we need it. It might help us advance from the usual evening conversation that consists of a few grunts in each other's direction, swiftly followed by me announcing that I'm going to bed . Actually its not quite that bad, but it will be good to be able to have a conversation with each other in a pleasant environment without the tv on in the background whilst simultaneously listening out for S starting to cry, cooking supper, doing a load of washing, etc etc. Oh and not having to do the washing up afterwards.

Half-term has been busy, but Em has been a star. She's so grown up and good at the mo, I'm very proud of her! Now looking for ideas for her 6th b'day party which is rapidly approaching in May. Any ideas for a bunch of 6 year old (mostly) girls?

S started crawling forwards this week, which is so lovely to watch as she's been shuffling backwards for ages. Tis funny how something seems to just click in their brain and they just master a new skill. Em was the same with walking:- one day she couldn't, the next day she could and that was that. Quite astonishing!

Right, better go. Lots of love to you all, haven't caught up at all I'm afraid so no personals, but hoping all is going well for you all. Going to do some sit ups (sad old flabby cow) whilst I have the chance. xxx
