Oooops no room to link to old thread!

Lol at AQ forgetting that she is pg Sure the madness will pass. And don't worry about my chocolate supply, I live round the corner from Tesco

Jabber I think you should pop ds in the post and I'll sned him on holiday with all my clibing friends, they do similarly dangerous stunts on a larger scale. He'd have a ball

Congrats SachaF too!

Fine here Oli, LO getting easier, although saying that she is destroying my spider plant whilst I type this! Getting a bit mroe organised at home too, hence sudden reappearance on here. Thinking vaguely about having another, but not sure I could face another 9 months of pregnancy, didn't agree with me last time! Plus DD still doesn't sleep through , little beggar. I don't think I could be a birth partner either though - far too gory for me!

Just to add my two penneth on the shoes front, I wouldn't bother either until you need them outside. We bought some in November when DD started walking and they didn't get used much until after Christmas by which time they were too small . At £20 a time, its a waste. I think we will be on the third pair before long too. The walking took bubs a few weeks to get going and then she was flying, it will all come together one day.

Olihan · 25/03/2008 11:45

All a false alarm! Everything stopped around midnight and nothing since. Ah well, it will happen within the next week - she's 40+4 so I'm guessing induction will be middle of next week if it comes to that.

Eli, no ideas about the foot but probably worth getting her hips checked, for peace of mind if nothing else.

Indith · 25/03/2008 12:37

And there was me getting excited and going to type some congrats to you and your sister Oli, tell her to hurry up please as she now has a whole thread waiting for her to give birth

Sure the osteo will be able to answer any questions Eli. Looks like the 'slow' ones are gearing up to show the early walkers who is boss

Lenni, FGS etc am defo holding back til shoes are really needed, sooo expensive plus my ex shoe fitter friend keeps warning me of the problems you can cause by putting them in shoes too early. My mum is coming up soon for a spot of babysitting though and is way too excited at the thought of him nearly walking. Apparently if I don't get him shoes then "how on earth will he get used to walking?" Erm...we have a house, we go to cafes, he has nice thick booties for outside. I really don;t thinkk a pair of £25 clarkes shoes is going to make me walk all the way into town bent over double holding two fingers! May have to take her photo into Clarkes and ask them to ban her

I'm sure it will happen soon, Oli. Got me thinking about birth again, urgggh. God, I hope it's less painful this time and he/she comes out in 3 pushes or something!
I bought "pre-walkers" for ds2 a month ago and he's outgrown them without getting any closer to walking. DS1 persuaded me into it. I have a pair of lovely shoo-shoos which shall have to keep him warm in the meantime!
We've had such a lovely couple of days with just ds2 as ds1 at gm's, so relaxing with just one!

FunkyGoldStar · 25/03/2008 14:00

DD1 just got her delivery of Barbie mariposa karaoke wings - she is in heaven!

DD2 was almost running with excitement at DD1's tumble club this morning. She was so fast.

They are really growing so quickly....!

AbbyMumsnet · 25/03/2008 14:50

Hello all - sorry to barge in, but if you haven't already done so, would you think about completing our sleep survey here? If you do you'll be entered into a lovely comp to win £1250 of rather special, children's furniture. Thanks ever so!

Elibean · 25/03/2008 16:39

Ah, thanks for reassuring thoughts all, osteo booked for tomorrow, won't hurt - but no, not worrying much in meantime now, no time!

No shoes, either, and of course the French side of the family are convinced that (as well as adding lots of salt to her bath) dd would be walking by now if I'd put her in nice firm ankle-supporting boots instead of her warm, soft, baby ones.

Actually, I could use a pair myself....

jabberwocky · 25/03/2008 18:17

We're back! Had a wonderful, very full week at our new house. I wish we were completely moved in by now. 6 weeks to go... After that I'll be ready to talk about the US meet-up

There's so much to catch up on I don't know where to start. I saw that Indith's ds still has ear problems It took about 6 weeks for ds2's ears to clear but it seems your saga has been going on longer?

eli, I don't blame you for getting it checked. It will put your mind at ease. I think dh was rather irritated with me today for insisting on a dental appt for ds1 after he bumped a tooth really hard last week (first night we were out of town - of course!) and it was fine just like he predicted. But especially after being married to a children's dentist (ex-h) I tend to go overboard fretting over things like that

FGS, I wish I could be closer to help you out after the surgery. Have you gotten anyone to commit yet?

As far as baths go I don't use soap very often on either ds. Ds1 has very dry skin and patchy eczema while ds2's eczema flairs up at the slightest provocation. Am also terrible at remembering to brush ds2's teeth

Indith · 25/03/2008 18:57

Lol Eli not just my mum then! Clearly all Frogs are mad as erm, well, a box of frogs

Welcome back Jabber, new house all shiny then? Ds has just finished his second round of ABs thanks, clear so far but then it was last time!Everything crossed that it doesn't come back this time

I think I'd be the same with a bumped tooth, I bashed one as a child and it died but didn't fall out so I had a horrible black tooth until I lost all my milk teeth, not nice!

Ds now has a cold and evil cough with sore throat. Because you know, babies can't be healthy for more than 2 days at once

OP posts:
Olihan · 25/03/2008 21:25

DSis is still niggling on and off so things seem to be heading in the right direction. I think she needs some labour vibes from you lot, please........

Elibean · 25/03/2008 21:59

Labour vibes, labour vibes...

Sounds great, Jabber, v exciting! Whats it like then? Tell all please (I'd love to move house but can't, so will live vicariously...).....

O God, Indith, don't say that (the bit about babies being well for 2 days) its so true it makes me quiver with dread. We're supposed to be going to Paris in about 10 days' time (grandmother's 101st bday soon, our annual visit due!) so am hoping hard for no viruses: not allowed to infect very elderly lady - ha, might as well sell our tickets now.

Not that I'm being remotely negative of course

Elibean · 25/03/2008 22:00

and hope DS is feeling lots better fast!

FunkyGoldStar · 26/03/2008 08:19

Labour vibes.....

babypowder · 26/03/2008 09:01

Indith, poor, poor DS Eli, hope yours manage to stave off the bugs until after they return from the milestone party. [fingers crossed]

Jabber, I don't know how you are managing to not move into the new house compeletely - I'd be beside myself by now! Obviously, we're all very excited about seeing it when we meet up at yours

Had a rotten night last night. DD1 came into our bed after a nightmare, and then 2 hours later wet the bed (which she hasn't done for a long time). So it was everybody up, change the bedding, get duvets etc into the wash. Which woke up DD2, who also ended up in bed with us. I feel like I've been put through a mangle. And I've managed to scorch the feather duvet in the tumble drier, so the house smells revolting.

Indith · 26/03/2008 09:29

Sending labour vibes...but mine are probably a bit rubbish considering how long ds took to decide to be born!

BP Hope for a better one tonight, and a nice long nap at some point today!

Eli, I was talking rubbish, babies are almost always healthy and anyway bugs can't survive in Paris, it would ruin the chic atmosphere to have babies with snot pouring from their noses. It will be fab.

Ds was up at 5.15 today and about as impressed about it as we were. Moaned when cuddled, screamed blue murder when put down. Came to bed with us which is the most fun in the world ever, romped around, giggled, poked us, giggled, bounced....eventually fell asleep with an elbow in my neck, a hand on my cheek that kept fluttering around, kicking me in his sleep and snorting though his nice bunged up nose in my ear. Needless to say I did not go to sleep and twiddled my thumbs til the alarm went off.

I think I preferred the ear infection, he did nothing but sleep then!

Lakes on Friday, ds had better be completely healthy by then, the thought of sharing a room (with a nice set of bunk beds for dp and I, thanks FIL really well thought out that was ) with ds as he coughs and splutters and wakes at the slightest noise fills me with fear.

FunkyGoldStar · 26/03/2008 16:47

Hi everyone. Not having a good day. Burst into tears on phone to internet shop this morning, then to DH this afternoon. He came home for lunch and fed me.

I feel so rubbish. I dont know if it is anxiety about the operation/recovery time, my hormones since I started the pill, winter blues or what

I dont want to go to the GP about it... I know that sounds silly. I think I just need a break. At least with just one DD I got an hour off when she slept. I just miss having some me time I think

castlesintheair · 26/03/2008 17:46

FGS, I really do think you should see your doctor. You shouldn't have to suffer this much. I know how you feel and you don't have to feel this way. Be kind to yourself and I hope it gets better soon

babypowder · 26/03/2008 18:48

I second Castles, FGS, for what its worth. And I understand about the me time - after you've recovered from the op, is there anything you can do to wrest at least an hour here or there just for you?

Elibean · 26/03/2008 19:40

((FGS)) I think op anticipation alone is cause for bursting into tears type anxiety, but no time for yourself and your feelings is guaranteed to make you feel rubbish too..I really hope there's a way for you to get some space soon. Do you have any help at all, atm? And, is there a particular reason why you'd rather not go to your GP? I wish I could come and borrow your dd2 for a few hours to play with mine and give you a break.

Indith, nice try, but am sadly unconvinced. So sorry you and BP had rubbish nights, but glad your DS is still giggling - usually a good sign

Took dd to osteopath, who said not hips, probably overmobile ankles and knees, and did some cranial stuff on her which she seemed (amazingly) to quite enjoy. She played with a skeleton's foot, wrecked the aircon remote control, and generally ahd a good time - poor man has a partner who is 18 wks pg with their first child, and looked rather pale when we left

FunkyGoldStar · 26/03/2008 19:50

Thanks Guys. DH and I are talking tonight and he is very supportive.

I think it might be my pill. I am much more spotty then ever before, gettign a migraine once a month, and just seem overanxious a lot. I am on Microgynon 30 and just searched the MN archives and found a lot of similar side effects. I have to keep taking it for a bit otherwise af might start mid operation but I will go to the Drs to see if I can change types. I need something because of heavy periods...

I didnt really want to go to Drs as I had a bit of PND with DD1 and I dont want a label being shoved on me when I'm just not sure that's what it is...

babypowder · 26/03/2008 20:20

DD2 had her MMR and pneumococcal this afternoon. She's high as a kite and won't go to sleep. Injections always used to knock DD1 for six, and I was always guaranteed a good night's sleep after she had hers. Clearly, DD2 is not cut from the same cloth.

Pray, please, for a night with no noghtmares, wet beds or coughing - I have to get up at 5:30 tomorrow to fly to Norwich

babypowder · 26/03/2008 20:22

nightmares. What is a noghtmare? I need sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep!

Hello! The wanderer returns! So much to catch up on!
Oli, my wobble is over and we aren't coming back to England. Any news on your sister?

Fgs, have you tried taking magnesium and vit b6, I felt very low when dd was about 15 months and it really worked wonders.

Jabber well done!

Right off do read what everyone else has been up to. In the meantime hope everyone else is well.

Have a look at face book group.

lennied · 26/03/2008 21:31

Jabber, do you have bath emoilent there? We have a household of eczema sufferers and we all use hydromol in the bath. Makes a massive difference. Also cures my psoriasis at the same time.

Eli - that osteopath sounds wonderful. How do I find one? Do they have a register for properly trained ones? Maybe they would help DD finally sleep through. Plus she still has a slightly flat patch on one side of her head from sleeping in the same position for the first 8 weeks (flat head syndrome), which the health visitor is still completely unconcerned about 12 months later . I am sure that has a lot to do with her not sleeping...probably wishful thinking. Think she is just stubborn really.
