Needed a new thread...

DD2 is much better today, she ate some fruity toast for her tea last night and loved it. And it didn't reappear an hour later either!
Have been to a mnmeet in Harrogate today, DD2 is starting to enjoy play dates now, especially this one as there was a fantastic baby section for her to play in!

I've got another thread asking this question - but maybe you gals will know. ds is in 9-12mo clothes just now and has a bit of growing room in them - but the next size up is 18mo by the looks of things. Do they slow down growing for 6 months??

yes - but what I mean is - wil he be wearing them for 6 months. Up till now they go up a size every 3 months. but you don't get say 15 mo clothes.

i'll need to plan carefully then - cos it'll cross over from spring to summer and into high summer.
I shall maybe wait until nearer the time and see how much he's grown. tho the catalogues are full of lovely summer clothes. Im so glad don't have dd - I'd spend a fortune - the vertbaudet cat. has got delicious baby girls clothes!

LucyJones · 29/01/2005 19:26

Lunavix - saw from another thread that you and dh have sorted out your problems and are going to ttc soon. Glad things are better for you and sending baby dust your way

ooh the first to post today - everyone must be having busy Sundays, hope you're all relaxing while dh/dp's look after the little ones we went to a lovely country pub for lunch today - I had pate to start with and ds wolfed down lots of my toast! Ate far too much (and drank!) but I'm meant to be on a diet - still weigh half a stone more that i'd like

MrsDoolittle · 31/01/2005 11:28

I have a dd and I am spending a fortune!!

Chuffed · 31/01/2005 12:20

What a lot of chatter since I was on last.
dd loves her books, we joined the library on Saturday and got a bunch of books out for her. She does love the touch and feel books and those with lift up flaps. She wasn't interested much until Christmas and then she just suddenly loved them bringing them to us to read to her. I think now that she has mastered her cruising and doesn't seem confident to start walking on her own she appears to be focussing on something else.

We went to feed the ducks in Kensington park yesterday and she loved it but couldn't get the hang of dropping the bread bits instead of putting them in her mouth.

We have been lucky and have hardly spent anything on all the gorgeous girls clothes around as both grandparents have been spoiling her and she uses quite a few bits and pieces we have been handed down from friends. She is ranging in size from 9mth pumpkin patch stuff to 12-18mth gap trousers.

Hope everything is settling down HMC.

lunavix · 31/01/2005 13:49

LJ - Thanks

Chuffed - surprised she can bring you books! If ds wants to play with something or have a cuddle or move something else he bursts into tears and sits there sobbing till someone guesses what he wants and gives it to him. He isn't proactive for toys/books/etc he won't go looking for them, is only interested if they are right in front of them.

We booked him in for swimming lessons, he has had two so far. He loves it! He's kicking and propelling himself around on his back (with dps support of course ) and loves being dunked under. Makes me feel all proud

lunavix · 31/01/2005 13:56

Oh another thing I was thinking of - what's everyone doing for their LO's 1st?

What with ds being my first, I have the urge to have a party and spoil him rotten, but just have no idea what to do for 1 year olds

dot1 · 31/01/2005 15:05

when ds1 was one we took him to a children's farm - mad idea as it was December and freezing!! This year now we're near our parents we'll probably have a birthday tea just for the family - more really for ds1 who will enjoy it - I'm debating whether to buy him 1 present aswell so he doesn't feel left out - but could be starting a dangerous precedent!!

Very proud of ds2 - yesterday he learned to roar when I say "what does a lion say?". Very cute indeed - and then he claps himself 'cos he knows he's so clever!!!

vict17 · 31/01/2005 15:49

I don't think we'll have a party here as family is a long way away. MIL wants to come and see ds blow his candle out but I'm hoping we won't have to have her as we're having my sister and kids the weekend before. I'd really just like to do something just the 3 of us. Because ds won't know what's going on it feels more like a celebration of how the parents survived and how far we've come in a year doesn't it?!! Personnally I think we deserve a cake and presents more than the baby!!

vict17 · 31/01/2005 15:49

(hope you don't mind me lurking on this thread as ds is soon to be one!!)

Chuffed · 31/01/2005 15:59

dd is one on 29 March and nursery is closed and family is on the other side of the world so we will probably be on holiday. Either in Valencia or snowboarding - haven't decided yet.

Don't you just love that they clap at themselves when they think they are being clever.

lunavix · 31/01/2005 16:05

Yes! ds has a symphony tower thing (where you put the balls in a funnel in the top and they drop down some stairs and it plays music) he can put the balls up the top himself (although its quite a stretch!) but if I do and spin them, so they spin around the funnel for a while, he sticks his hand in to push it down the funnel. Then he claps as he's so proud of himself!

LucyJones · 31/01/2005 16:05

Hi Chuffed!! Am very impressed and envious at all your travelling!!

Chuffed · 31/01/2005 16:22

We do things on a pretty tight budget or we wouldn't be able to afford it. No luxuries for us...

dolbear · 31/01/2005 18:09

HMC , sorry things have been yuk , hope u all feel better !
ds only plays with his bath books , all others get eaten and he wriggles too much for the snuggly read to them thing , anyway I have been informed by dh that it is his job - so b it.
we went up 2 m'chester on fri ds loved being in the front of the van ( in bb seat )he could see evything !
1 b-day dh was planning a get-away to c-parks I said no way , the gp's would never 4-give us dm 1 mile away & others 1/2 hour there is no escape there will b a party and a big 1 @ that but after the yr my mum has had would be mean to deny it !
dodgy eye is now better after 4 drops a day ( what fun )

Yes, dd is still doing this from time to time - she has 6 teeth now. We have booked a midweek break at Centerparcs in April, just before dd's birthday. For ds' 1st birthday we held a family party (we never had a christening or anything so it was a good time to get everyone together). We'll probably do something similar for dd.
dolbear, bet you're glad you don't have to use the drops any more!

Fennel · 31/01/2005 20:20

dd3 is still biting me especially when a tooth is coming through - no 6 arrived with muchweeping and wailing yesterday, during an endless train journey London-Manchester - 4 hours in the "quiet carriage" of a massively overcrowded train - it wasn't very quiet with us in there though...

HD, thanks for asking, dd2 is ok at school. she cries when dropped off but they assure me she's happy the rest of the day. she likes after school club though, which is a plus as it makes my days easier if they go sometimes.

chuffed - we will be in Spain at the end of March too, next door to Valencia - Murcia for 2 weeks.

hewlettsdaughter · 31/01/2005 21:36

Ooh, new thread alert!
