Needed a new thread...

DD2 is much better today, she ate some fruity toast for her tea last night and loved it. And it didn't reappear an hour later either!
Have been to a mnmeet in Harrogate today, DD2 is starting to enjoy play dates now, especially this one as there was a fantastic baby section for her to play in!

Ooh, don't know YG - you seem to have done all right so far though

TracyK · 27/01/2005 08:59

Re new thread title - was this one 7th heaven cos it was the seventh thread??
if so - maybe eight - one fat lady?

dot1 · 27/01/2005 09:01

that would be me.... still got 2 stone to lose from being pregnant...

LucyJones · 27/01/2005 11:13

Oh I see Yorkiegilr. All these tests at different times in different places really confuses me!! I couldn't believe how unscientific the hearing test was!! I was trying not to laugh. Especially when the hv kept going 'weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee' softly and then getting louder right near ds and all he did was giggle and lunge for the table instead of look at her!!!!

lunavix · 27/01/2005 11:23

LJ - lol reminds me of at ds's 8 month check she dropped some grains of rice on the floor which he was meant to poke at. DS looked at the rice, then look at her, and I swear the look was 'If I can't eat it, and it doesn't make a loud noise, why should I bother??'

TracyK · 27/01/2005 11:42

dibs dabs have started for the first time since ds - god I'd forgotten what a pia they were. almost 2 years with no bleeding - it was bliss.

hewlettsdaughter · 27/01/2005 15:27

dibs dabs? do you mean your period? I got mine this week too (first one since before getting pregnant).

LucyJones · 27/01/2005 15:28

never heard it called dib dabs before!! - lol

lunavix · 27/01/2005 15:29

I got mine after 8 weeks! Dammit!

On the injection now, so don't get them at all... yay.

TracyK · 27/01/2005 20:06

I usually say - the rabbit's cut his paw - but thought dib dabs was politer.
I didn't even have any towels in the house. I hope they don't last too long - I heard they got worse after having a baby??

dolbear · 27/01/2005 20:17

mine - (the painters ) are better , shorter , less cramps , more hormaonal though , small price to pay for less pain and no fainting due to blood sugar plumeting - so I don't mind , though I keep being late and freak ! if b-4 I was nervous now I practial break out in a sweat , i will have another , but not for a while yet

GP went well , got referal , and eye drops for infection ( bless him ) but they could only find one testy have to go back in a mth , nothing to worry about ?
now have 2 phone HV and arange a home visit - another one ! does every one else have them @ home or are my lot more nosey ?

lunavix · 27/01/2005 20:21

I have them at home but I don't think they have a clinic place they hold visits at. There's a drop in clinic in a local church hall to weigh and ask questions but I refuse to go, if the health visitor that called ds a porker is there I wouldn't be responsible for my actions!

LucyJones · 27/01/2005 20:23

we have to make an appointment and go to my gp's surgery to see the health visitor. I hate going so if dh wants to know how much ds weighs he takes him!! We got the hearing test appointment through the post. I jjst hate taking ds, undressing the poor thing (especially in this weather), praying he doesn't wee and then dressing him as quickly as possible so now refuse to go!!

TracyK · 27/01/2005 20:28

i used to go on a tues am - drop in at local village hall - but it lasts for 2 hours and they have tea and biccies and loads of toys for ds to play with = so was more a social thing

LucyJones · 27/01/2005 20:29

I would definitely have gone if it meant meeting other mum's but it was always empty when i went. I have completely failed to make any friends round here with baby's ds' age!!!

TracyK · 28/01/2005 08:37

I found it very useful and met a couple of mums although haven't really kept intouch with any of them as we all went back to work.
If nothing else it meant at least on a Tues we were up, dressed and out by 10 ish!

MrsDoolittle · 28/01/2005 13:27

I hate going to see the hv too. Well there are two, I like one and can't stand the other. Dd was three weeks old when I took her to baby clinic, when I had to undress her to be weighed she started crying - who could blame her? Well 'the other' just said get on with it I have no time for this. I couldn't work out whether she was joking or not (it wasn't funny) so I let it go. When I took her for her jabs at 4 months the same hv said "Why are you here then?" when I said I didn't want her weighed. My blood was boiling! So we don't go anymore.

dolbear - my period is the same as your experience. Less cramps, shorter, but I am dangerously hormonal; surprises myself even. Started back in August, now I am back to my usual regularity.

Chuffed · 28/01/2005 22:38

still no sign of mine...
Been off work feeling a bit fluey so not a lot of time spent on the PC. dd went to nursery so that I could recover today as I didn't get much rest yesterday.
Anything interesting planned for the weekend?

handlemecarefully · 28/01/2005 22:51

Phew - I need to lie down having jst skim read this thread.I haven't been on for a couple of weeks due to:

I had flu last week...
then 2.6 year old dd got flu...
then last weekend dh got flu plus gastroenteritis..
then all this week baby ds had gastroenteritis culminating in a referral to hospital for dehydration..
and yesterday dh had major chest pain and was diagnosed with pneumonia

fortunately my mum arrived today having got the train down from N.Yorkshire to come and help us.

All this talk of books - do any of your babes look at and pay attention to books? Ds seems to get irritated when I try and show him one - prefers to chew it or bang it against a hard surface.

lunavix · 28/01/2005 23:09

I'm so sorry hmc it sounds like you are having a really hard time Hope everyone is feeling better and makes a speedy recovery soon.

Ds loves books, mostly the touchy feely ones. He loves a winnie the pooh touch and feel one we have, a couple of the usbourne 'thats not my...' touch and feel ones, and also a 'baby bright' finger trace one. He listens to me read the words, looks at the pictures and touches the touchy feely ones. At the end of the baby bright one you press a button and a baby giggles and it makes him wet himself laughing!

hewlettsdaughter · 29/01/2005 12:51

OMG HMC - hope things get easier soon!
DD likes "That's not my puppy" (especially the one with the shaggy ears to feel) and also her Baby Einstein Neighbourhood Animals book with real photos of animals in.
DS (5) never really got into books until he was about 18 months - he has never looked back since though!

TracyK · 29/01/2005 13:38

hope everyone is feeling better - springis on its way! then summer and hopefully get the old bones warmed and a bit of a tan!
ds doesn't really 'get' books - he'd rather turn the pages himself and then try and rip them. I am perservering though as I heard somewhere that they still like to hear your voice and be held snuggly - even though they don't really understand reading.
although I can see it is going to start to be added into the bedtime routine in a couple of months as the bottle doesn't really take any time at all to get drunk.

LucyJones · 29/01/2005 13:44

Not too much book reading going on here either - ds just likes to throw them on the floor. He does like the ones that have pictures of babies in them, especially the one that has a mirror at the end - he laughs at himself Those 'that's not my puppy/dinosaur/train/teddy' etc books makes my dh laugh as he says it's the world's unluckiest mouse because he loses everything!!!!

LucyJones · 29/01/2005 13:44

P.S. Chuffed hope you feel better soon - flu is yukky
