Needed a new thread...

DD2 is much better today, she ate some fruity toast for her tea last night and loved it. And it didn't reappear an hour later either!
Have been to a mnmeet in Harrogate today, DD2 is starting to enjoy play dates now, especially this one as there was a fantastic baby section for her to play in!

Glad to hear that dd is ok, Mrs D. is this the first time you've left her? I have to go away with work next week, only to London, for 4 days. Ididn't want to leave dd3 for that long so I have persuaded DP to bring dd3 for the last 2 days. He thinks it's going to be a romantic weekend but actually I just want to see dd3 and he's only invited as her bearer .

hewlettsdaughter · 17/01/2005 19:29

MrsD - you don't have to wait for the little lightbulb in your head to light up. You could just ask to speak to your boss and explain that things as they are aren't working for you at the moment - see if s/he has any suggestions. Is it possible to delegate some of your work?

lunavix · 17/01/2005 21:38

Did someone say their lo has been given an inhaler?
Ds was today, with ipratropium. Apparently they only give it to parents with lo's who complain enough, as 70% grow out of it by the time they're 2.

dolbear · 18/01/2005 11:58

oh ,Mrs D I am so sorry to hear you are struggling with decisions

dh has been v ill since he got back from vegas so i have had 2 babies to look after on my own , I have had ds 24 hrs 4 2 weeks now and I am on my knees

i am on my quest for p/t work - long story but I want to do something - useful u guys sound like you have worthwhile if stressful jobs , b-4 i was a team leader in a marketing firm , paid the bills but not v inspiring if I am gonna leave ds then i want it to be for more than just shuffling paper 4 some marketing company who sells team building - BS to other companies !!

Chuffed · 19/01/2005 11:03

Well we are back and I'm sitting at work
Geez it has taken ages to catch back up on everything that has been going on.
NZ was great, the weather wasn't the kindest when we arrived although dh thought so and he was out windsurfing for the first 4 days. The last week before we left was gorgeous and hot and we all went to the beach a couple of times. Christmas was fab, dd got so many things we couldn't bring them all back.
She seems to have grown up so much while we were away. Still not walking by herself but she initiates taking a trolley, and climbs up on things now (like the fireplace at the house we were staying in). She is also opening and closing cupboards and draws and toilet seats, waving and clapping. If we say where's my nose, eyes or mouth she can point to them on our faces which is exciting and she knows she is clever as after she does it she claps at herself. It was all tears at the airport.
Flights weren't too bad, Singapore outdid themselves again and the jet lag hasn't been too bad (we arrived yesterday morning).
Sorry to hear about your working full time dilemma's MrsD, you just need a holiday away on an airplane as a family.
I hate having to go to work but I don't hate that at work I get challenged in a different way to being at home with dd and it is nice to have adult company that isn't child related.
I was worried about how dd was going to go into nursery today after a month of dh and I being around every day and she reached out for cuddles with one of the girls and didn't even care when I left - snap TracyK.
I saw the HV just before we left for NZ and she said they were running behind on the 8 month checks and I'd get sent an appointment letter, well 9.5months old and no letter yet. I'm pretty sure she is fine though.
Well I'll sign off now and check out the rest of site. Off to the gym at lunch time as too much wine and good food has made me look like I'm expecting which I'm not
Chat soon

LucyJones · 19/01/2005 11:08

welcome back chuffed. Glad you had a nice holiday. We got our hearing check date through today - next Wednesday. I thinking of quitting work at March as am so fed up with it. However it's dependant on dh getting a payrise so I'm not getting my hopes up (well trying not to). I'm slightly concerned I'll go stir crazy with no adults to talk to but think I should go for it if the opportunity aries iyswim!!

dolbear · 19/01/2005 12:49

nice 2 have u back chuffed , glad all went well
off 2 HV 2-day 2 investigate 8 mth checks , got 2 top teeth coming through @ the mo , which mean less sleep than b-4 and a grumpy - nappy rashed baby - hurrah
L/jones - u do go a little loopy @ home all day , but TBH when people come round they wonder how I get eveything done , its amazing how busy you actualy get some days and as my family does not seem able 2 go more than a few days with out having some kind of drama @ the mo we used 2 b so boring

if anyone has any info on where to look for 'useful jobs ' I would be most grateful

Lowryn · 19/01/2005 13:06

Wahey! Just wanted to post and say that last night DS went from 6.30pm to 6.45 am! This was his first proper night! Hoorah long may it continue!

Fennel · 19/01/2005 17:01

Lowryn - that's excellent

chuffed - welcome back. my dp has been enjoying the recent gales for the windsurfing opportunities too.

what sort of job might you be thinking of dolbear? any ideas?

hewlettsdaughter · 19/01/2005 22:31

Wow - words, that's impressive (especially as she obviously knows 'cat' means cat!).
Glad you had a good time chuffed. How is your week going MrsD?
Hope you have another good night tonight Lowryn! My dd seems to have a runny nose (again) so I'm not sure she will make it through. Ah well, c'est la vie.

Lowryn · 19/01/2005 22:36

Oh wow, all this talking and naming body parts is impressive! DS is still my ickle baby, except for the crawling and amount of food he can put away!
He has a new trick though...He can snort through his nose to amuse himself. It normally starts when he is laughing and then he laughs harder and snort snort piggy snort!
Just like Peppa pig, gosh mummy is so proud!

dot1 · 20/01/2005 08:52

definitely no words here either! We're trying to teach him some animal noises, but he just sounds like a little animal anyway..! He's also very snorty and snuffly - when he's crawling around snuffling and snorting it's just like having a little semi-wild animal around the place..!

TracyK · 20/01/2005 08:56

trying to get ds to answer woof woof when I ask 'what does sammy dog say?' he did it twice one day last week and never again - dh doesn't believe me!
Just saying mama and dada - no other words - maybe bup bup - which I take to mean pick me up??
going through a 'not very hungry' phase just now - or maybe he doesn't like nursery food.

lunavix · 20/01/2005 09:15

No words here either! And he's a bit cross too because the 2 7 month old girls at baby group have both started crawling properly and ones almost walking too... he glares as if to say 'why can't I do that?' but it doesn't motivate him any more!

He's gone RIGHT off his food too, only having about 12oz of milk and maybe 8 cubes in total a day. Very grumpy too think its the clingy/teething thing!

The only new thing we have is bouts of hysterical clapping where he finds himself oh so funny and clever for doing it!

Trying to teach him signing at the moment too... wil see how it goes.

Chuffed · 20/01/2005 09:34

I was going to try signing too lunavix but it is really hard unless it is done constantly which is hard with nursery.
I think we have a few words too, mama, daddy and dadda, book, look, kitten (although it was said three times with witnesses and not again).
Another 4am wake up this morning due to jet lag unfortunately, we are starting to flag a little now.
This is just such a cute age although dd is a mischief. We have taught her to crawl backwards off the couch and bed so she doesn't land on her head but she is tall enough to pull things off our table she almost tipped my porridge on her head yesterday morning.
Is anybody else's child incredibly vain, she can sit and watch pictures of herself on the screen saver for ages and loves photos of herself too.

lunavix · 20/01/2005 09:37

ds loves the mirror... granted apparently they don't recognise themselves for another few months so we call him 'the other baby'. When ds is getting ready for a bath we sit him in front of the mirror and he gigges and shows off for ages!

I'm a bit worried about the consistency of signing, I stay at home so I have more time to do it, but mil sees a lot of him and has him quite a bit and theres no way she (or fil/bil) will do it I can't even get her to stop giving him crisps and biscuits!

MrsDoolittle · 20/01/2005 11:55

Dd loves the mirror too, it's garanteed to make her smile and reach out. This 'other' baby is highly entertaining.
This week has dragged for dh and I, both of us our missing our lttle ginger-haired munchkin (his words not mine). It's been nice just to go out for a drink though and we are planning to go the cinema tonight and eat out.
I am speaking to dm a couple of times a day, she is absolutely thrilled to be looking after dd. I am just so grateful she could take her. She sounds like she is getting better.
I'm leaving straight from London to Norfolk after work tomorrow to pick her up.

lunavix · 20/01/2005 12:00

I'm so glad you are feeling a bit better MrsD.

Any ideas towards your future plans with work/dd?

MrsDoolittle · 20/01/2005 12:14

No ideas about future plans still I can't afford it really at the moment.

Lowryn · 20/01/2005 12:59

I taught babysign to my daughter when she was around 8-9 months. She was going to a nursery 3 days a week then, it didn't really interfere with her ability to pick it up. I still remember the happy moment when she first signed MORE TO EAT and ALL GONE.
I guess I had better have a go with DS.

Oh, and DS woke up TWICE last night, just to get his own back on me for tricking him into sleeping through the previous night...arghhh!

dolbear · 20/01/2005 13:13

glad things are going a bit better 4 u mrs d
last 2 nits been a mare ds teething so got viral thigy as well like last time temp , snotty nose etc etc u no things hve got bad when u not only celebrate but feel practicaly bonny on 4 hrs continuos sleep.
no words here either apart from ba ba dada etc etc and some v strange noises due to exploration of teeth and tounge !!!
ds must also be vain as he kisses the' other baby 'all the time or the' bouncing buddy' , when we put ds in a bouncy from the door frame we would put the mirror up so he someone to talk to !!!

LucyJones · 20/01/2005 14:40

Hi everyone. I'm glad Lunavix's little one isn't crawling as I was starting to feel a bit paranoid!! And definitely no words here either!

MrsDoolittle · 20/01/2005 15:10

Same here LucyJones! Not even an inkling. Just raises her arms in the air to be picked up!!

lunavix · 20/01/2005 15:11

Yup he can do that too - also learnt to wave today! Not at me, or dp... at the pretty blonde lady at his swimming lesson!
