Needed a new thread...

DD2 is much better today, she ate some fruity toast for her tea last night and loved it. And it didn't reappear an hour later either!
Have been to a mnmeet in Harrogate today, DD2 is starting to enjoy play dates now, especially this one as there was a fantastic baby section for her to play in!

sorry lunavix, must have confused you with MrsD. He likes to spend time on his tummy but gets annoyed when he knocks a toy out of his reach and can't get to it!!

hewlettsdaughter · 20/01/2005 19:45

Glad to hear dd is getting better MrsD.
Those of you doing babysigning - what books/videos/dvds are you using? I looked into it a bit ago but got a bit confused over the different languages/products available so didn't get any further.

TracyK · 20/01/2005 19:50

we did baby signing class - but I've been v. lazy and not continued it in the house - must do better!
ds up at 7 this morning - 30 min nap at lunch and then NO MORE nap till bedtime at 7 - I do hope this is a one off!

lunavix · 20/01/2005 20:19

LJ - no I meant he puts his arms up to be picked up sorry! Def no crawling!

HD - I've got the Garcia book, it's American sign language, and the guy in the pictures is SERIOUSLY scary but it's quite easy to follow. Also waiting to get a sing and sign dvd, just wanted to introduce something fun for ds as well, he loves his music.

Chuffed · 21/01/2005 09:12

dd awake at 4.30 again this morning - must get over this jetlag.
We had 4 unsupported steps this morning and apparently 3 last night when I was at the gym - looks like dd is going to be toddling soon. She got a book from her shelf for me this morning and brought it to me to read which was rather cute...oooh this is such a cool age.
Soooo glad it's Friday - 4 year wedding anniversary today and we are off to dinner with friends and dd (how romantic although I shouldn't really complain after a month on holiday).
Have a good day!

ds turned away from nursery this morning and sent to docs as he had what looked like a nettle rash on his hands, feet and legs.
Doc says just an allergy to something and cleared him to go back to nursery.
I had tried the Hipp Organic ready made milk for 10mo + - maybe allergic to that?

MrsDoolittle · 21/01/2005 12:56

Finally its Friday! I've spent long days at work but today I am just dying today to get out and head for Norfolk.

Fennel · 21/01/2005 13:18

mrs D - how has dd been? at least you've got a mother who will look after her - that must come in useful in the future. mine only wants them overnight from about 3 up (which is ok now).

had a hellish morning, dd2 was dragged screaming all the way to school. she started 2 weeks ago but doesn't like it. I nearly let her stay home but it's my day at home with dd3 and I'm so tired I could't face it.

dd3 only says herro/hiya and now mama. but if you ask "who's mummy", "where's daddy" "where's dd2 etc she pats the right person - very brainy, we think

Fennel · 21/01/2005 13:20

reading that post I sound mean. really I don't know whether to let dd2 stay home instead of getting used to school, I didn't force her to go ONLY cos I was tired. I ended up in tears in the playground though - so embarrassing.

Chuffed · 21/01/2005 14:01

Fennel I'm sure tears are commonplace in the playground. It is important that you have time with dd3 don't feel guilty about it.
Have a safe trip MrsD.

dolbear · 21/01/2005 15:57

got some sleep - hurrah
ds @ nursary , mainly to take his mind off the teeth , was getting abit good at the old sympathy vote
this is the 1st time I have spent any time on my own for 1 mth and it has been heaven , have managed to do washing , cleaning etc

dot1 · 22/01/2005 17:38

Fennel - you didn't sound at all mean. You know how shy ds1 is, I'm already terrified of how he'll be at school. It's taken him most of this year to start getting used to his nursery - he goes on a Friday - it's only in the past couple of weeks that they've said he's started to talk a bit, and he doesn't burst into tears at the thought of going... Still, we've kept taking him because I keep thinking he's got to get used to being with other people. So difficult though. And as for tears - we've just dropped ds1 and ds2 off with various grandparents to have our second free night since ds2 was born, and although I've been looking forward to it for ages, I've not stopped crying for the past hour...! I hate the thought that ds2 will be missing us (projection, I know!).

Still, the thought of a nice meal out tonight with dp, then home to bed and a HUGE lie in tomorrow is cheering me up..!

lunavix · 23/01/2005 08:08

My chunky monkey is just under 24lb

Where can I get diet formula? And diet apples (for puree, as that's all he eats?)

Fennel · 23/01/2005 14:26

lunavix - it's amazing how big they can get on so little. my niece, age 2, has been rigidly fed mainly a vegan diet by her two skinny, exercise-freak parents and she's HUGE.

My idea of an exciting "child-free" night still includes us keeping dd3 with us as noone wants all 3 of my little darlings at once. will dd3 still be accompanying me and dp on our nights out when she's a stroppy teenager? but she still sleeps in restaurants very nicely in the evening.

dd3 has been sleeping badly, waking at 4 and 5 am. last night we ignored her totally when she yelled. then today I saw she's cut another tooth (no 5). oh the guilt... poor baby left to suffer

dolbear · 23/01/2005 19:53

ah Fennel sos 2 haer about the guilts
ds has been cutting his top 2for what seems 4-ever, last night dm had him and we had our 1st night 2-gether4 6 mths it was realy nice 0- must be the season to couly time , we even managed 2 have a little nooks!!
managed 2 get ds 2 HV - 22lbs - so u r not alone Lunavix , asked about 8 mths check - I have 2 make appt with GP , who does one bit , then I can ring the HV to come round 4 another home visit - More cleaning then so I can get ds refered to the Hopital 4 his eyes , seems in our district we have 1 do it off our own backs as opposed 2 being conatcted by the HV's

dolbear · 23/01/2005 19:54

sorry I meant couply time - not sure what couly time is

I reckon ds is about 27 lbs now... Keep going through the worrying/not worrying cycle - he seems to look 'fatter' on some days and I get all worried he's obese (can you have obese babies?!), then some days he just looks big. He's threatening to grow out of his already huge nappies and we may have to go on to toddler ones - his tummy is so big that even the nappies that go up to 33lbs are getting tight... But what can we do? He doesn't have anything naughty and just eats the amount he seems to need...

lunavix · 24/01/2005 09:41

dot - that's how I feel, ds eats fruit puree and a bit of milk and that's it!
He does scoff back some junk at granny's...I'm trying just to breathe deeply and accept that feeding babies rubbish is what grannys do, Doesn't stop me taking it off him when she leaves the room

lunavix · 24/01/2005 09:42

I've just decided to put him in cloth nappies and he's already a large, and someones suggested an extra large!!

My poor little boy, luckily he doesn't really look fat, as he's so tall he just looks older. People ask how old he is, I say 9 months, and they can't believe it.

Fennel · 24/01/2005 10:28

I had the pleasure of meeting dot's very cheerful ds again last week - can confirm he is "robust" - he mugged my dd for a breadstick, ate it and then hoovered the floor for crumbs! but he didn't look fat actually dot, he's tall as well as broad. just bigger than average for his age.

lunavix · 24/01/2005 10:39

lol@the mugging

Ayd was following a little girl at our play group round (no idea how as he still isn't crawling but he was getting there.... ) and eating her rusks that she dropped!

dot1 · 24/01/2005 12:17

thanks Fennel!!! Dp was v. embarrassed at ds's mugging abilities - but it's a relief to hear he doesn't look too fat...!

dolbear · 24/01/2005 13:34

haha - i like the mugging story , i find taht as soon as i strat to worry about ds size , he tarts to cut a tooth and goes off his foof for about 2 wks and will only drink milk , so then I woarry that he is not eating enough - ug it never stops !!

dolbear · 24/01/2005 13:35

realy must spell check or something ! mind only on 1 st coffee of the day - my excuse and I am sticking to it !!
