AprilMeadow · 27/03/2008 09:29

Ella is jsut about on the mend. If she has a good day today then she can go back to nursery tomorrow. Havent had any sick for a few days and only 2 nappies yesterday, so fingers crossed.

Cam, glad you had a good time safariing. My brother won a trip at work to go to SA on safari for 1 week. Flys out next Wednesday.

Pebble, wow at A's walking.

Lups, YAY YAY YAY well done to D on his job. Am so pleased that things are FINALLY going your way.

Abby, thats great to hear that R is eating well now. Must be a relief for you.

LG&T, hope that the lurgy is leaving your house and that it doesnt come a knocking for a LONG time.

JIMW, good luck with the packing and fingers crossed for a smooth moving period.

Scoot, hope you have a more exciting day at work. How's the house? Sorry to see that L is not feeling too good.

The first birthday is Charley's George (and not forgetting Ben of course). He is on the 3rd, then Lupins Arlen on the 5th and then Ella on the 10th.

Ella is cruising alot more now and managing to get up the stairs in a blink of an eye!

Not much else to report.

Pinkjenny · 27/03/2008 10:20

Scoot - dh is from Ingleton - do you know it? Work is such an inconvenience eh?

Lups - great news about the job. Treat yourself, you deserve it.

April - Ella sounds so gorgeous. Stairs are a pain aren't they. Think of my friend with a 10mo ds also, she has a split level living room AND a wooden floor. Nightmare.

JIMW - I love moving house. Make like Anna Ryder Richardson. Without all the gross pink and purple.

Mum2G - baileys, yum. Is it too early for one?

And the news is (allegedly) that my friend went to pick her ds up from Lexie's nursery, and apparently she waved at her. Hmmm, not sure I believe her... Lexie had a terrible nights sleep last night, she is cutting five teeth at once, poor thing, three on the top and two on the bottom. And she's got a cough too! Its all fun and games.

scootermum · 27/03/2008 10:38

I know the name PinkJ but not been.
I cant belive Ella is going upstairs..last time I saw her was in Waterloo that day before I had had Mae and she was so so tiny and of course thats how I always think of her..
Thats right Geroge and Ben were first..
We should have some sort of gathering on the thread on the third to say the first of our Happy Birthdays or something!

CM has just called to say that L is burning up and very red in the face and now M is looking the same way too.Not good.Am going to try and shunt all my meetings around so I can go get them.I called DH to ask him if he could go and you'd think Id asked him to scale the north face of the Eiger!I dont think he gets that its quite difficult for e to just drop everything too sometimes!

OP posts:
Pinkjenny · 27/03/2008 10:45

Scoot - poor dds, I've got a real phobia about L's temperature, she spends half her life with the thermometer rammed into her ear.

Grrr at your dh. Dh and I had a huge row this am about exactly that. I was doing my 'blue-arsed fly' impression that I do every morning since going back to work. The difference is, Mark usually isn't home when we're getting ready. He was really annoying me, watching me running around, trying to sort breakfast, change bums, wipe nose, blah blah blah, sitting there eating his breakfast. I felt like wrapping it round his bloody neck.

He just has no idea how much more there is to do since going back to work. Life hasn't really changed for him since Alexa was born, and the buck always, always stops with me. I'm not complaining, I wouldn't have it any other way, but a bit of help or even just some appreciation or consideration wouldn't go amiss sometimes.

OK, rant over.

largeginandtonic · 27/03/2008 10:57

Oh Scoot the poor wee things, wish i could whizz over and get them for you. Disappointing news on the John Frieda stuff then, what shampoo is it?

Yay on the walking Alana! Shoes in no time, i know a lovely shop called Piggys in Fareham that we should go to Pebble, such gorgeous shoes n there.

Pink nice to see you posting We are all in it together and even i give in to crazy doc dashes sometimes.

Beau fine now, no sick or nappies for a while. No farckin bugs allowed.

Lups excellent news on the job front! How nice to be able to relax a bit now and enjoy life. Love Tavistock My fave shop is the one full of lovely nic naks and Cath Kidston not.

Cam the Safari sounds great! Lucky you.

April glad Ella is on the mend, remember NO DAIRY until tomorrow. It will bring the nasty poo back.

I am miserable, have been grumpy and short tempered for a few days. My period came on Tuesday so no Xmas baby and DH is off to sea in January, not sure if i want to do it all alone.

Turns out it was just as well though as i had a letter through from the hospital, i have an abnormal smear result and have to do go in for a Colposcopy I have not had a smear since i had dd so am now terrified i have been harbouring something awful and as i have not been checked it has gone undetected until now. So of course now i am even more miserable.

Poor dh is doing everything to cheer me up, he is still on leave. I would be rocking in the corner if it wasnt for him

SKYTVADDICT · 27/03/2008 11:18

Hi all

Just been valiantly trying to catch up.

Try not to worry about the smear LG&T (easier said than done I know). It is best to get it checked out though.

We are still planning on being down there and coming to the meet up on the 18th.

Once question LG&T. Did Hugs, DH and Beau get chicken pox from one of the twins who had shingles? Terrible memory haven't I?

My mum and sister have shingles and both their GPs have told them it isn't catching but I'm not convinced. The two week incubation period could just about give C and DD2 the pox for our hols!!!!

Had 20 week scan yesterday and all was well. No soft markers for Downs and the midwife said that if the baby had downs they would expect to see at least one of the markers. Can't believe I am having a BABY! I think it is just about sinking in.

I have to work all day every day next week and am really dreading it. C is going to a NEW cm for two days so it could be a disaster.

Juicylucytoo · 27/03/2008 11:19

Hi to everyone. Sorry I'm a crap / lazy poster.

Oh God LG&T - It never rains but it poors for you. I'm sure it will just be a precautionary measure and it'll be fine. x

Got the builders in here too Scoot. Bloody Bedlam. Plaster dust everywhere and I've run out of teabags already!

largeginandtonic · 27/03/2008 11:26

They most definatley DID catch it from a twin who had the shingles. It took 2 weeks before dh got it, then B that afternoon, then Hug's 2 weeks later! Oh noooooooooo!!!

JamInMyWellies · 27/03/2008 11:28

just a quickie, still meant to be packing

LG&T I had an abnormal smear after Archie and I had to have a colposcopy. DONT PANIC I googled worst thing to do. Its jsut like a normal smear legs akimbo lady garden on show to the world but the consultant wears a pair of binoculers and your vag is magnified a million times on a telly screen for all to see!! Anyway what they are looking for is large white areas if they see this they will take a sample and possibly burn it out easy peasy no probs. When I had it done there waas what I thought was a lot of white but they felt the best thing to do would be to leave it and re smear in 6mths.

Pinkjenny · 27/03/2008 11:30

LG & T - about the abnormal smear. Its so common to get an abnormal result, I had one when I was 18 and I was terrified for weeks. Usually nothing, don't you be worrying.

Juicy - hi!!!!!!! You are so lovely, I never make any workmen tea, they all hate me.

Sky - can't believe you've had your 20 week scan, our last pregnancies seemed to go by so slowly, yet these are seemingly whizzing by.

My friend had a new ds last Thursday, Tyler. I'm off to see him on Monday, dh will be getting it that night, IYKWIM

Juicylucytoo · 27/03/2008 11:39

Not lovely honest PJ - Just want them to come back and finish the blardy house!!

BTW, O is neither clapping nor waving nor crawling (properly - comando only). Obviously inherited more of his Dad's genes than mine

JIMW - I guess you're too busy packing to do the 1st Aid course tomorrow?

SKYTVADDICT · 27/03/2008 11:58

Oh no LG&T

Best make us provisional for the 18th!!

JamInMyWellies · 27/03/2008 12:00

oh bugger forgot about that. Would rather be packign but have to go to SIL house for b-day party.

TillyScoutsmum · 27/03/2008 12:01

Hi all

LG&T - another one here who's had abnormal smears... Very worrying I know, but I'm sure it'll be fine ..

Hope everyone else is ok.

Tilly is over the worst and actually ate some brekkie for the first time in about 2 weeks. She's still commando crawling and nowhere near pulling up or walking either.

BTW - she was born on the 2nd - so might be first May baby ?? God - can't believe it was a year ago I was sitting in glorious sunshine in the garden with a mahooosive bump It seems like only yesterday but then again, it seems like I've had her forever (and over 12 months of no sleep probably makes it seem longer )

mom2latinoboys · 27/03/2008 12:01

LG&T did they give you a smear when you were pregnant? standard practice here.

Everything will be fine don't worry.

Pinkjenny · 27/03/2008 12:03

OK - I have a confession to make. I can't keep up with the name changes. JIMW - I love you, but who are you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TillyScoutsmum · 27/03/2008 12:04

Doh - just realised there are some babies with April b'days. I'm such a dopey cow sometimes

AprilMeadow · 27/03/2008 12:34

Oh yes Tilly there were some very impatient babies in the AN thread! I think there are a few towards the end of April as well.

Dont forget ladies i have the spreadsheet with all the dates on. Am happy to email it.

AprilMeadow · 27/03/2008 12:39

JIMW is Juliewoolie.

LG&T sorry to hear that AF has arrived and also that you are having to go to the hosp for a check. Please can you let me know what i can bring on the 18th... and dont think of saying nothing... it goes without saying that i will be bringing KK's (i promise i wont forget).

Scoot, i hope the girlies get better soon.

Am struggling to think of what to get Ella for her birthday. Have no idea. Girls are much harder than boys!

Pinkjenny · 27/03/2008 12:42

Juliewoolie - of course. I've been looking at her pictures and driving myself mad!

Pinkjenny · 27/03/2008 13:43

Just started to stock pile Lexie's birthday presents . Does anyone remember the toy where you used to pop the little figures down with a hammer and they would pop back up?

I'm not explaining myself very well, am I? Her friend has got one and she loves it, but I can't find one anywhere.

scootermum · 27/03/2008 14:12

Worry not largegandt..soon we will all be round at your gaff to cheer you up!!I am bringing Lily-God help you all!
Sometimes its all too much-glad N is there to make sure you are ok..
V05 New fomula shampoo for dry or damaged hair (mine is both)

Thats the thing see PinkJ-Nothing changes for the man when the baby comes and the Mum is at home, vis a vis when the Mum goes back to work they conveniently forget that now they may have to pitch in when the baby needs something durng working hours..When I went back after L and was pg with M I did all the dropping off and picking up as well as all the other stuff..not now no fear..I have engineered it so I start work at 8..thus Dh has to drop off kid (and I pick them up)He has had a rude awakening..he excalimed the other night how it was'like doing a days work before you even get to the office!'Well YES, EXACTLY!

Glad scan went well SKY!

Builder is now not answering his phone..I do not have a good feeling about the kitchen being 'done' by the weekend..

OP posts:
scootermum · 27/03/2008 14:14

Yikes..Ive never hd a smear, ever..have always been preggers when they have sent for me..think better call the Dr to be on safe side..

OP posts:
Pinkjenny · 27/03/2008 14:30

Exactly - I was saying that last night, but the other way round, when I used to finish work the day was over. Now my other job starts!

Have posted a thread on food - no responses yet eh Sky. Maybe you lovely ladies can help. Want to get Lexie Boo off the jars now, but am seriously strapped for time when I get home from work.

Any quick ideas?

I am also cursed, sorry, blessed, with curly hair. And now have no time to straighten it, frequently giving Worzel Gummidge a run for his money in the 'bad hair day' stakes. Tresemme do a good shampoo for dry and damaged hair, the colour code is turquoise. I find Charles Worthington serum for seriously shiny hair much better than any John Frieda stuff, which, in my opinion, is garbage.

scootermum · 27/03/2008 15:35

Yes, I used to use Tresemme but saw this Vo5 on offer in Boots for £1.99..and think my hair just needed a change in product..that said its still sticking up at the back! Will try the serum though as JF is losing charm for me.

Try this;Fry a shedload of lean mince in sunflower oil.Add an onion, bit of garlic a carrot (Cooked and whizzed prior in a food processor) and any other cooked veg you like whizzed up.Add a tin (or less depending on amounts of mince)of chopped tomatoes and simmer for a bit..meanwhile cook or steam a big potato.Whizz it up.Add that to mince.Voila-Shepherds pie type thing..you can make as lumpy or smooth as you like..
Divvy up into portions and freeze..

Alternatively have you tried scrambled egg?(Although give her a tiny bit first to make sure no allergies)

Or I tell you what else is invaluable..a steamer..you can just chuck any fish or meat in the bottom teir, and veg on the top leave for half an hour and whizz up with a food processor..or a hand held whizzer-which is what I use-less washing up.

Have to admit Lil never ate anything but jars..but with M was determined she would eat normal food so went for it and actually things dont take as long as I thought..specially if you make lots of a thing at once and freeze it all-then you just defrost at will..or give her whatever you are having whizzed where poss..saves time..also you cut down on your portion size as you are saving some for the baby, thus you lose loads of weight
