AprilMeadow · 18/03/2008 20:00

Oh no poor you and A TYG. I hate vommit! Well done to her on all of her words.

Hi Liahgen, good to see you back on line. Poor you having to nurse the sick

Lups am so pleased that you are doing the same And YAY on your mum babysitting. How is D getting on?

Pebble, I hope that the Dr's are able to help you/Alana with that nasty rash.

MTLB, that would drive me nuts! Although..... I was on the phone to a supplier and gave my name and they said how do you spell that..... I was like 'Claire' as in 'Claire'. The response was 'can you spell that' C-L-A-I-R-E and she said 'C-A-L-I-R-E. I mean come on i said it clearly and slowly! Its not tricky!

MrsJB, LG&T, Scoot, Cam etc etc etc big hello to you all x

twelveyeargap · 18/03/2008 21:01

That's just rude AM, when people ask you to spell your name and then don't listen. To be fair, I have seen Claire spelt Clare as well, (as in the county) so fair enough to ask, but at least have the decency to listen when you do.

My surname usually needs spelling when I'm on the phone, which is absolutely fine, but I get so narky when people repeat it back wrong. Once, ok, but sometimes I spell it three times, even reverting to the radio alphabet so there can be no mistake and then the correspondence from said company STILL arrives misspelled.

I used to work in a call centre (that was right after the McJob) so I know how you should deal with customers (but it also makes me very polite when I call a call centre). However, I have high standards of them too. I won't broke any nonsense in McD's either... I know it's possible to get a Big Mac meal in under 30 seconds. I used to serve over 120 customers an hour sometimes, so it makes me want to shout at someone plodding around making a meal of getting three items on a tray. Especially since they're being paid considerably better (even allowing for inflation) than I was when I worked there. No minimum wage back then.

What a ranty pain in the arse I am this evening. I think I should go to bed and put everyone out of their misery.

AprilMeadow · 19/03/2008 09:45

I dont mind about the spelling so much, it was more the fact that she wasnt listening. My MIL spells my name Clair, that annoys the hell out of me given that i have been with dh for 9 years!

I know what you mean about the golden arches (Scoot close your ears) it drives me mad at how slow they can go. Sometimes i think i would go behind the counter and get it quicker.

Off work today with Ella. She has sqitty bum and it is red raw poor liitle mite. Luckily i have mass supplies of Sudocreme! Although think i will have to find some scented candles to make the house smell pleasant!

mom2latinoboys · 19/03/2008 12:41

liahgen--I got pregnant in January before I got my period back, but sadly we all know how that ended

TYG--I'm glad I'm not the only one. I mean my job is not in my field, and I'm not using my education, but scheduling wise it's the best for my kids.

Pinkjenny · 19/03/2008 12:52

Hi everyone!!!

So lovely to see you all. I promise I will read back and catch up properly. The reason I have been so rubbish at posting is that I am back at work now. Boo. Am slightly concerned I may get sacked for breaching the IT policy, but hey ho,its only an interim role until Sept. Part time though, which is great.

Lexie is beautiful, as LG & T (who still acts as my counsellor) knows. She is not terribly steady on her feet, although we knew her development would be slightly behind because of her hips. The hips, anyone remember the hips!!! She is very chatty though, and crawls at a rate of knots (or is a nautical knot a not?). Had a bit of a scare on Monday as she covered herself in red nail varnish - smashed the bottle when I wasn't looking. And yes, I know, she shouldn't have been playing with it in the first place. Anyhoo, she doesn't seem to have taken any harm. I was completely hysterical though, covered in tears and snot and red nail varnish.

Its refreshing to see that I never change though eh?

xx

Pinkjenny · 19/03/2008 13:13

But I think it is important to add that I did not go to a & e!!!!!

Pinkjenny · 19/03/2008 14:16

Some of the people on mumsnet are vile. That's all I'm saying.

Pinkjenny · 19/03/2008 14:39

Do I smell? Has no one missed me?

Pinkjenny · 19/03/2008 15:30
SKYTVADDICT · 19/03/2008 16:03

I'll talk to you PJ. Have you laughed about the nail varnish yet? It does sound quite funny .

Not been around much myself. Feeling soooo tired most of the time (for a change).

We have just noticed one difference between girls and boys. The DDs NEVER put anything in the video player but C has been trying to put DVDs and bricks in it today for the first time! May even have to buy one of those video protector thingys.

He is all over the place crawling and putting the smalles bits in his mouth. I think he is a bit magnet!

He also waves bye bye and points but does not say much that means anything, not that I had noticed anyway.

AbbyLou · 19/03/2008 17:44

Hi PJ, nice to see you back. Glad to hear there have been no more visits to A&E, you must be relaxing!!
Sky if my two are anything to go by they are completely the opposite of yours. C never touched anything he wasn't allowed when he started crawling, he was quite content playing with his toys. R on the other hand wants to play with everything that isn't a toy! Her favourties are the dvds, the bin, the magazines/papers and the Sky card. C nearly went bananas the other when she pulled the Sky card out during Peppa Pig!!

elkiedee · 19/03/2008 20:30

Hi PJ, were you posting from work? tsk tsk

I nearly did get sacked, well, I feared I might be for a while, over internet use at work a few years ago. Hence I didn't spend much time on mn until I started my maternity leave last year, as I was going to bed earlier than I have since I was about 8 years old.

Who's vile on mumnset or were you just trying to bait someone into talking?

Mrsjaffabiffa · 19/03/2008 21:14

hello everyone...

Sorry not been around much, fecking sickness and chest infections plauging Les Cerises again!!

PJ it's lovely to hear from you again. I bet Lexie is soo gorgeous!have to say the red nail varnish would have been one of my woese nightmares!

lg&t, still OK for the 18th April? Hoping so can't wait to see you and all who can make it.

anneme · 19/03/2008 21:15

Just popping in to say good bye for a couple of weeks - we are off on holiday which I am really looking forward to. S will probably be walking by the time we return - he is quite keen! Goodness knows how many more of you will be up the duff!!!
take care and see you all soon
A

Mrsjaffabiffa · 19/03/2008 22:14

Have a fab holiday A. xx lucky you! I will not be up the duff on your return, I assure you.

Pinkjenny · 20/03/2008 08:51

Anneme - have a great holiday - can't believe S is nearly walking. Alexa can barely stand up! Not that I'm keen on rushing that phase, the crawling is bad enough.

Mrs JB - I know, the red nail varnish was awful. But she had the decency to smash the Rimmel one and not the Chanel one she was banging it against. Boo to chest infections, Lexie has had a cough for about six weeks now, its driving me mad.

Elkiedee - I am indeed posting from work. I wonder if I'd be the first HR Manager to be sacked for IT use. Hmmm.

Abby - Lexie is the same, only wants to play with inappropriate things (red nail varnish, anyone?). The worst thing was that obviously the next day I had to tell nursery. They have a whiteboard that they put info on that the parents give in the morning. When I arrived to pick her up it said - Alexa - swallowed a bottle of nail varnish. I mean ffs, social services are prob on their way round.

She won't wave or clap yet. She looks at me as if to say, I can do it, I'm just not going to. She says 'gone' and 'all gone' quite a lot though. I'm not getting hung up about her development after reading all your posts. Honestly, I'm not. No, honestly.

AprilMeadow · 20/03/2008 10:43

Hey Pink, each child does things in there own time. Jack is still deciding if he wants to sleep at night (hes nearly 3), Ella doesnt have ANY teeth. A friend of mines 3yo has only recently started speaking more than a few words at a time. Honestly dont worry. Perhaps you could give yuorself a verbal warning for being online during work hours

We have just booked to go to Glasgow on Saturday and come back on Sunday. Going to visit our friends up there (ellas godparents). Dont really have anything exciting to add.......

Mrsjaffabiffa · 20/03/2008 11:11

I do AM............ You would be packing now to come to me if it wasn't for god dammn work. Have a lovely time in Glasgow.

PJ, AM is so right, Mine have all been very diferent in development. Harrison was crawling at 6mths & walking at 10mths, he could sign most of the basic commands and was very verbal early on, at his first b'day party he was the only one out of 4 from my ante-natal class who was walking, well actually he was running. Maddie crawled at 9.5mths about the same as J but didn't walk unaided properly until just before 14mths. Jorja doesn't talk, she will wave and clap and danse on demand but has no idea why she is doing it. She says nothing apart from babble, da, da, da, ba, ba and mum, mum, but they are not in the right context! It really doesn't matter, they all catch up in the end. By the time she gets to school, she will be the same as all the others.

LOL at the verbal warning! Post again today and you can give yourself a writen one.

TYG, not long til your hols. I hope A gets over the sickness before you travel.

Cam...... you OK lovely?

Harrisons new passport arrived today, he's happy that it means he can come to the UK and not have to stay with Nan & Grandad. What a rip off, I've spent a fortune with the passport office in the last 3 years. Cheeky buggers charge more for a passport issued from the british consular than getting it in the UK.

Pinkjenny · 20/03/2008 11:37

Thanks Mrs JB - its just the hips thing I think, made me a bit paranoid about her walking.

See, now I'm on a final written.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 20/03/2008 11:48

Oh god, PJ stop right there, can't have you sacked for chatting to us!! or though then you could --post more.

She may take a little longer but you musn't worry about it, it really doesn't matter, believe me you are right in not wanting that stage to happen too quickly anyway. You think crawling is hard work!! LOL

Get back to work young lady!

Pinkjenny · 20/03/2008 11:56
AprilMeadow · 20/03/2008 12:29

I know mrsJB should be coming next weekend! Am still soooooo gutted about that. Although am looking forward to coming out later in the year xx

mom2latinoboys · 20/03/2008 13:05

Hello all. Cruz is cruising. He gets around the furniture quite well (but he's usually searching for the remote control) You know he's a man right there.

I think Mateo watches too much Handy Manny because he has started walking around saying "I'm a hammer" it's funny because then he laughs histerically at himself.

Hope everyone is well.

scootermum · 20/03/2008 14:36

Hey all,

Well am STILL living in a building site..absurd. The builder promises me faithfully that it will all be done by next Friday..However the kids are coming back from my Mums tomorrow. So for a week we will have to live upstiars only with only a microwave to make tea's, breakfasts and everything else.Plus everything is filthy.I have alot of work to do tonight jsut making sure we can live upstairs.I beg of you-the whole thing was meant to take two weeks and has actually taken 4..and its not like its even that big!

Work is very slow today which is fine with me-am still getting to grips with where everything is at my new service and trying to remember things that I shouldnt really have forgotten.
One of the tenants has Impetigo so all the staff are now convinced they have it too and are scratching themselves madly.Off now to go round with the alchohol wipes etc to try to stop it spreading everywhere as I googled and see it is highly contagious.Just my luck if all the tenants and the staff and probably me as well come down with it!

Anyone any big Easter plans? The weather looks apalling but we are going to have to brave it and get out as I dont see Lily and crawling Mae wanting to stay cooped up in the upstairs of our house for 4 days, Siberian chill or not!
We were planning on going to the medieval jousting at Knebworth house near us on Monday but not sure how much fun that will be if its brass monkeys.
