Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Pebblemum · 14/03/2008 22:13

Evening

I must sort a proper pair of shoes out for Alana but never seem to have the time, plus all the decent shops are miles away from me She can walk perfectly holding onto the tips of my fingers (in fact theres hardly any grip there)but she hasnt got the confidence to go it alone. Im torn between wanting her to walk (would make life so muc easier as she is really eager to do it and gets upset that she cant)and wanting her to stay a 'baby' for a while longer

She still has her nasty rash. Took her to see the dr and to be honest they have no idea what it is. Its going to be a case of trial and error. The rash looks as though its infected (but thats how it looked when it first appeared) and so the dr has placed Alana on antibiotics and has given me Dermol 600 to put in her bath (this is used to treat eczema). I also have to cover her in Double Base cream twice a day. If it gets worse over the weekend I need to go to the out of hours surgery and if its still not gone by either Monday or Tuesday I need to go back and they will try something else. The dr agreed that there is something wrong for her to be so completely covered. She is literally covered from head to toe, the only clear bit of skin being her bottom which could be down to the Burn cream Ive been using to combat her nappy rash (was recommended it by chemist and it is great, a lot better than anything else Ive ever used)

I was so pleased with E today. When i collected him from pre-school all the children were sat in one group and we were told that they had been naughty, they wouldnt tidy up the toys and kept playing instead. All the other mums in front collected their children and when it was my turn the teacher said that she was very proud of Ethan because he was the only one who had tidied up properly and that they had praised him so that he knew that he had done the right thing and that when they were telling the others off that they werent talking about him Now all i have to do is get him to tidy his room so well lol

As a reward I gave him one of his easter prezzies early. It was an Optimus Prime dressing up suit (and a spiderman one so that his friend could dress up too) He has been walking around in it ever since and he is still wearing it now, in bed he didnt want to take it off. He probably would have got it anyway, once dh saw it he couldnt wait to give it to him (think he was jealous he couldnt fit in it lol)

Just want to add my bit to the food our babies eat list before i go. Alana will eat anything she can lay her hands on. She has been known to swipe things off of plates if you arent careful

She likes strawberries, donuts, choc cream eclairs, chips, bernard mathews footballers, crisps, chocolate.....could go on but it would take all night. She eats lots of normal healthy foods too the ones ive mentioned are things she has either pinched or people have given to her to taste. Makes me laugh when she eats strawberries, she will take a bite, screw her face up as if its something really revolting, swallow it and then carry on eating it, pulling a face with each bite

right im off, have a nice glass of Tia maria waiting for me!! Hope you all have a nice weekend

Pebblemum · 14/03/2008 22:49

Blimey that was a long post

Just had a call from my neighbour, she is at the hospital with her cousin who is in labour!!! Apparantly she is not coping with the pain and in the really early stages (before the contractions really kick in) she was cursing and crying that it bloody hurt God knows how she is coping now and she has been told that she still has quite a while to go yet. In a way im quite its not that i enjoyed the pain of labour, far from it, but soon she will be holding a beautiful little baby I want one, no i dont, yes i do, no really i dont but i remember that feeling when you see your LO for the first time {{{pebble goes all gooey eyed at the memory}}}

Lupins71 · 15/03/2008 03:37

TYG she could be your twin in that pic - lets hope ds looks like you - any name ideas yet?

Pebble hope A's skin gets sorted soo poor little mite, A gets very annoyed with his sometimes, have you tried sudacreme - works wonders for alot of skin ailments might be worth a patch test to see if it helps, well done E on tidying up - maybe he could show W, but she does it at school must be going wrong somewher , hope your neighbors cousin manages ok

Well i was disturbed by my darling some at 12, then my darling daughter at 1, and have been awake with son since 2 , supposed to be going into plymouth with my mum tomorrow (going to drag here in the direction of hotel chocolate) he had better go to sleep soon or i will be too tired

Hope ev1 else i tucked up snuggly in there beds (whispers night night)

Pebblemum · 15/03/2008 09:51

Lups sorry to hear you have had another bad night, Alana was awake on and off too but luckily she managed to sleep through from 2am so im not that knackered.

Ive tried sudocreme but it didnt make a difference. I was using that on her nappy rash too and it wasnt working then the chemist recommended this burns cream and it cleared it up almost straightaway. Did think of trying it on her spots but think i will give what the dr suggested a try first

Well I had a text from neighbour, her cousin had a little girl at 5.44am called Dana and weighing in at 6lbs 11oz. Last I heard she was screaming the place down and that was shortly after i posted last night so dread to think how she was nearer the birth. My neighbour was her birthing partner so I expect shes knackered as well (she had a migraine before she left so that wouldnt have helped)Im now off to buy the baby a present (any excuse to look at the tiny newborn clothes, amazes me that our LO's were ever that small)

mom2latinoboys · 15/03/2008 12:57

Morning all. I hope everyone is having a lovely day. The sun is shining, it's warm out. Well a few moments ago Mateo had a tantrum, slammed the door and knocked a frame off the wall. He's most impressed with his power.

Lupins71 · 15/03/2008 20:00

Have to confess I tested today but thankfully it was negative, I had 2 days really light bleeding it wasnt even every time i wipe (sorry tmi) and then my period hasnt turned up, but i think it was just a really light period I had one like this the other month but it was at the right dates, phew panick over me thinks, was really racking my brains over what on earth i would have done

twelveyeargap · 15/03/2008 23:32

Pebble, poor little thing. I had what the dermatologist called infected excema (though two GPs at my practice had never seen anything like it) and Dermol and the antibiotic cream didn't do anything to help it at all. My friend, who is a homeopath, fixed it with Pulsatilla, though her first thought was to Sulphur, which I'm reading up on the web is often given to babies for this sort of rash.

You might think it's worth trying... Can't do any harm, that's for sure. Sulpher 6c (that's the lowest potency), once a day for up to 5 days and see if there's any improvement. You can buy the remedies very cheaply in most health food shops and some larger chemists.

My friend gives her baby Pulsatilla when he's clingy with a bad cold, and Sulphur is definitely safe for babies too.

Lupins71 · 16/03/2008 09:28

You so qualify for a phone a friend TYG, is there any subject which you have no knowledge

Lupins71 · 16/03/2008 09:31

willow is sending an emoticon as she's never done one and thinks its amazing - here goes

AbbyLou · 16/03/2008 18:36

Well done Willow, you are a clever little thing. Took me ages to get that right!!
Hope everyone's ok and enjoying Sunday.
Pebble sounds like you're having a nightmare with A's skin. R has dodgy skin but it doesn't sound anything like A's. We use Diprobase and Eurax. We have the Diprobase ointment which we put on before the bath and then it stops the water drying out her skin even further. We then put the Eurax on her excema afterwards. We are only allowed to put a thin lyer of that on once a day as it is not really recommended for children under 3. Together they have both worked well.
We have had a nice quiet day today. Went round to the in laws for a short while this morning and then dh took C to a party this afternoon. R and I endulged in some retail therapy and I bought her some very cute shoes. I really wanted to get her some more 9-12 month clothes as she has only just started wearing them and doesn't have many. I was most disappointed as everything in the shops is so summery - strappy dresses, cropped trousers, t-shirts etc and I couldn't find her anything suitable to wear now. Looks like I will have to resort to Next Directory again.
Well hopefully it will be more of a normal week at work this week after the panic of Ofsted last week. Also it is only a 4 day week so that's pretty cool.

Lupins71 · 16/03/2008 20:32

Abby it is all summery, A needs some more 12-18 trousers i ended uo getting him some zip offs in heavy cotton but they are really summer trousers,

Does anyone have the mn cat thingy, if so can i ask a favour, just need to post some nappies on the for sale board but no longer have card in which to subscribe with, just wondered if someone wouldnt mind posting on my behalf, would be very grateful

i have been in foul mood today, very black tiredness cloud hanging about, very cross with dd for not letting me nap uninterupted off to bed now and praying for full nights sleep

Pebblemum · 17/03/2008 13:38

TYG The anti-biotics and Dermol dont seem to be doing anything so I may give your idea a go. Last night the skin on her shoulders and back looked red raw but she didnt seem in any pain. Im taking her back to the dr's tomorrow so will see what other explanation they can come up with. Just wish it would clear up, people keep looking at her and then giving me dirty looks as if im risking their precious kiddies catching it by letting her go out in public

Has any one got any advice on how to get a new mum out of the clutches of her overbearing mum? The girl who gave birth on Saturday has spent every day since in tears. Although she is 21 and quite capable of looking after herself and the baby, her mum is taking over (she still lives at home) The Mum has built the baby's cot in her room, everytime the girl goes to pick her baby up the mum pushes her out of the way, when the baby cries at night the mum wont let her daughter feed her she has to do it, when a nappy needs changing the mum rushes to do it, think you get the picture The poor girl isnt being allowed to spend anytime with her baby. To make it worse the mum had gone out months ago and bought all the things for the baby but yesterday the girl discovered that the pram is broken and the cot is being held together with glue She couldnt even take the baby out for a walk to get away from her mum Luckily my neighbour has given her another cot and found a pram for £30 (from a friend so its in a good condition and safe)so that has helped a bit but the poor girl is in a right state. Shes tried saying something to her mum but she wont listen. We are all worried that all this upset could lead to PND and her not being able to bond with the baby. Its so bad that when the girl got a clean sleepsuit out for the baby, the mother took it off her and said that she wasnt wearing that one and proceeded to get another one of her choice out of the drawer. My neighbour is going to try to get the girl round to stay with her for a few days and see if that helps but we need a long term solution. Any ideas? (apart from slapping her mum which everyone feels like doing lol)

Lupins71 · 17/03/2008 14:05

OMG thats shocking Pebble, that poor girl, can she not just say to her mum enough is enough and its her baby - in the nicest possible way of course
Ikwym about people giving you funny looks re skin, when ds' is bad i get looked at like im a neglectful mother - have i not possible taken to gp or hv to get it sorted grrrr!! hope it gets sorted soon,

Pebblemum · 17/03/2008 14:51

Lups shes tried talking to her mum but its gone in one ear and out of the other. The mum was very when she found out her daughter was pg because she had been a bit broody herself so now it seems as though she has decided that this baby makes up for her not having any more and she is treating it like her own. Its definately not right. Its making me feel down just thinking about the poor girl. My neighbour has gone out to buy her a necklace today, a mum one, to try to cheer her up a bit and make her feel a bit special. Just feel sooo sorry for her

Lupins71 · 17/03/2008 15:36

Oh how terrible for her, my friend had a similar situation altho nowhere near as bad she lived with her mum and her mum was always trying to do things her way

AprilMeadow · 17/03/2008 20:34

Hello all,

Time is going by so quickly at the moment that i cant even remember what we did at the weekend and it's only Monday

Ella is just such a delight to watch at the moment. She as added several words to her vocabulary : 'this' 'look' & 'hiya/hello'. She has some gorgeous faces that just make me crack up. This weekend she has been a lot more steady on her feet and is wanting to stand up alot more and like to cruise and walk holding just one hand.

She is eating a lot more of the foods that i give Jack. So lunch today was: ham with cuecumber, yellow&orange peppers and bread and butter, followed by 2 yogurts. She also snatched from her brother about 30 blueberries (they digest VERY quickly ). She loves wotsits and KK's, infact its probably easier to name the things she doesnt like/wont eat........ nope cant think of anything

I think she is on her last box of baby milk before turning one so have decided that once it has finished she will move straight onto cows milk...... does that sound naughty?

Ds has gone a bit backwards on his sleeping and is now a handful to get to bed and is waking twice again during the night after having spells of waking jsut once or perhaps even sleeping through.

The houe move seems to be getting closer, there was talk of exchanging this week but we are still waiting for the sellers solicitors to answer a few questions. Should (fingers crossed) exchange early next week and complete very shortly afterwards. Seems to have gone by so very fast given the nightmare we had moving in here! Have already paid the deposit on the new kitchen we want and have the bathroom people going round tomorrow to measure up before coming back here to decide what we want. We are hoping that we can get the hosue keys on or around the 1st April and then get all the suppliers into action straight away with a view to having all the work done and completed by the end of May. Wont move in until we have the hosue completely how we want and with all the furniture in place. The great thing is that we live about 100m from the new house so we can just load the cars up and take a little bit over at a time and then jsut use a friends van to move the heavier/bigger stuff.

Cant believe i have been back at work for 2mths now. Its really good fun and so far i havent botched anything up. Spent Friday morning with the accountant going through loads of bits that i didnt understand. He said he was very impressed with some of the stuff i had been doing given that i havent ever done accounts before. Working 20hrs a week is going well and as of April i have pulled the dc's out of a Froday pm session so that means i get to spend more time with them but it still gives me 3 hours on a Tuesday and Wednesday to myself to get bits and bobs done.

Had a slight mishap with my round brush this evening....... tried winding my hair around it and somehow (just dont ask how) i managed to get into a right mess. Took about 15mins to unravel it and even had to cut some off to free myself! Dh thought it was the funniest thing ever and ds told me i was a 'wonky wonkle'! Dont think i will be using that brush again.

Will now go and read up on what you have all been upto

AprilMeadow · 17/03/2008 20:35

Wish MN had an automatic spell check like word does!

twelveyeargap · 17/03/2008 20:57

Download Firefox, then download the English (UK) dictionary add-in. It will then spell check everything you type in the message box as you go along.

anneme · 17/03/2008 22:07

poor you pebble -it is horrid when you feel people are looking and judging - i had that with ds1 when he used to get infected eczema on his face - just above his top lip. If Alana is having probs there then it can help to put vaseline on it (having made sure it is dry) because it stops food etc making things worse.
Our inspection also over so everyone a bit demob happy.
End of term soon so off on holiday on Thurs - am trying to pack - better go back
hope all well

elkiedee · 17/03/2008 23:34

Picking up on food thread from a few days ago, in D's second week at childminder he's had chips and biscuits that I know about, and he enthusiastically shares my croissants at breakfast. But the chips are apparently cooked from fresh potato, and he's eating lots else as well. I've decided that I'd sooner get him to positively try good new foods and not worry too much if he enjoys a bit of naughty stuff too. He's had teeth for ages but carrots didn't go down well, and it took a long time to dawn on me just how easy it is to soften them up in hot water, just put a couple in a pan when we've made tea or coffee for ourselves, they're going down great now. He's been having rice cakes labelled as unsuitable for under 1s for several months as well.

Lupins71 · 18/03/2008 08:55

AM wow your move is happening quickly, I was thinking of getting A a walker for his b'day but he has decided in the last couple to days to start holding onto things and stepping so not sure there is much point now, oh well back to the drawing board, Ella has a good vocabulary A is just saying mama - that started yeterday, too cute for words, A has already been having 1 cows milk drink a day, he has 3 bottles in all altho it has been 2 last few days and 1 is cows milk - he loves it, i figure if he is having it on his food then why not!! So like you it will be the end of formula when the last tins (2 left) are gone, lol at the round brush incident, when i was hairdressing i used to get in a right muddle there is a nack to using them, glad work is going well

Dp and I might be getting a night out, only had 1 since having A, hoping to go and see sweeny todd on thursday evening, mum coning to babysit - oh yes this is why i moved!!

twelveyeargap · 18/03/2008 13:18

A is attempting her sisters name, (difficult even for older toddlers), saying "Good girl" (or sounds very like it), ta ta for thank you, yeah/ yes and loads of other stuff and not a frickin' sign of a "mama".

She's doing it on purpose.

mom2latinoboys · 18/03/2008 18:41

Hi everyone. I don't know why I'm so tired today. Oh yeah it's because I have the thankless job of wife and mother.

I am planning our easter dinner and just found out that more people are now coming. Gotta love it. Work has been crazy. I hate cheap people. And why is it that people think that just because you're behind a cash register that you can't spell. The other day I asked someone for their address to be on our mailing list. She said S-M-I-T-H. I turned to my boss and said, "Can I smack this bitch?" I was told that the company frowned on us doing anything like that, but if I really felt the need to I could.

RANT OVER!

twelveyeargap · 18/03/2008 19:43

I know how you feel M2LB. I used to work in a McJob and people think you must be stupid to be there.

I'm SO SICK of cleaning up SICK. It's been a month since A first got a tummy bug. Then it was the secondary lactose intolerance. Now she has a chesty cough and that's making her vomit. I was going to go to the doctor today, to check she didn't have a chest infection, but she seemed better this morning so I left it. She was fine until about 3.30 and then must have had mucous in her throat or something and vommed all over the floor and then down my top when I picked her up. Got in the bath with her when we got home. Just tried to give her her bedtime feed and she coughed right at the end and puked it all back up again all over both of us and the floor. I'm feeling mightily sorry for us both.

liahgen · 18/03/2008 19:45

hello everyone.

Well, i introduced myself, then promptly buggered off eh? Had my dh off work with man flua throat infection. Also had couple jobs with the kids so been up and down to london a bit.
