LTH - poor G

ladytophamhatt · 15/02/2008 21:36

oh god...i cried on the phone to them....am waiting for the call back now.

Wilkie · 15/02/2008 21:43

LTH - he will be ok. It is just so distressing when they are so little and you can't do anything for them.

ladytophamhatt · 15/02/2008 21:51

i just keep seeing a report on telly the other day where a woman had twin who got CP , one got it really bad, was really ill....and he died!!!

its going over and over in my mind.

not helped by the fact that I'm exhausted either....

still waiting for them to phone back.

MrsCarrot · 15/02/2008 21:58

God, LTH, don't read horror stories like that! It is extraordinarily rare isn't it? Has he got AB's for the chicken pox?

Wilkie · 16/02/2008 07:54

How is he this morning LTH?? Don't read horror stories!!! There is one for every occassion and like MrsC said, that is incredibly rare - I have never heard of anyone dying in this day and age from CP. The GP may prescribe antibiotics in severe cases.

What did NHS Direct say?

Good night here after a week of absolute hell - 6pm-7.30am so am feeling quite perky. God knows what we are gonna do today thoug, DH is working ALL weekend

ladytophamhatt · 16/02/2008 11:53

Bad bad bad night last night. I think he finally wentto slepp properly at about 5am after moaning and crying all night. I don't think I slept at all because the only way G could sleep was on my cheast and he's a lump now so I was totally squashed.

He's so ill still...

Called the emergency Gp this morning and she told me to take him straight to hospital!

Hospiatl doc said he does have a very bad case, and could be admitted but because he was alert and happy-ish it's prob better to continue with what I'm doing. Rather than let him infect all the other children and possibly get more bugs/viruses because he's system i sso down atm.

Doc said its not the worst case he's treated....the worst was a little girl who needed ITU because of kidney failure and skin grafts because the CP were so bad.

So girls, after this I really woudn't recommnend any of you encourage CP apon your LOs. it's crap and can be very very serious.

Reggiee · 16/02/2008 13:27

LTH hope G (and You) are feeling a little better today. The photos were - so many spots. Big (I know how much you like your hugs )

Wilkie · 16/02/2008 14:55

Oh LTH what a nightmare. Poor little G. At least he has a fab mummy to look after him. >> (Wilkie clasps LTH to her small but perfectly formed bosom )

I know I am prob being a cow but our elderly neighbours KEEP popping across for a chat and coffee. They watch me coming and going and come over when I am in. It is driving me a bit mad cos I am FULL of cold, J is being V challenging at the mo with tantrums and whinging etc and I feel really low with all the house move/DH job etc etc (I don't DO uncertainty) and just want to be left alone....well, I would like someone to whisk J off for the day and leave ME to have a day ALONE. DH working all weekend so feeling V sorry for myself

Wilkie · 16/02/2008 17:53

Lost out on the Dead Man's house Everything pinned on next Friday for DH's interview!

MrsCarrot · 16/02/2008 18:01

Can't you not answer the door, Wilkie? The next time you see them, say, oh, if you pop round and I don't answer, it's because I am giving J a bath or we are having a rest. Then smile broadly.

LTH - That is quite shocking, I had no idea CP could be that bad. It certainly is an argument for never trying to make them catch it.

Wilkie · 16/02/2008 18:07

MrsC - I tried that last week and she kept banging on the door for 5 MINUTES!!! I was actually trying to get J to sleep.

They are really really lovely but I don't want them coming round unannounced.

God I'm a miserable cow. Have been crying since DH came in

MrsCarrot · 16/02/2008 18:09

Blimey - I would be really annoyed by that. If she does it again, say to her, if you haven't answered its because you are busy and if she keeps knocking it will wake J up.

Be firm, and smile smile smile all the time.

It would drive me mental. I would have to stop it, your time is precious.

ladytophamhatt · 16/02/2008 18:10

Fingers all crossed , he seems to have turned a corner and is actaully quite happy atm. He's currently harrassing DS1 for some more chips
Slack mother of the century, I just drove them to teh drive through McD's for dinner so he's eating McD's chips...don't tell the rest on Mn will you??

He slept for about 2.5 hours this afternoon(actually maybe even longer, I was MNing and entered the MN timewarp so the time flew by) and woke up much much much happier, hasn't cried once since then.
God I hope last night was the peak of it all and we're on the way back to being spot-free.

I dread to think what he's going to look like when they're all scabby. It'll look like someone has pebbledashed him!

MrsCarrot · 16/02/2008 18:16

sounds like he's peaked with it, doesn't it, LTH? Get him to bed early and pour yourself a fat glass of wine!

ladytophamhatt · 16/02/2008 18:29

i feel like i should apologise for my dramaqueen behaviour last night.....blame extreme sleep depreiation, patience at -1,000,000 due to teh big ones breaking ip and a very unhappy and poorly baby.

The child dying of CP was ona report on GMTV a fw weeks back. It was about a vaccine being added to all the other vaccines they have when tiny. The mother was one because she wanted it added after losing one of her twin boys. I didn't seek it out and read it, it was one of those rare moments of watching morning tv before the boys get up and put cartoon network on.

MrsCarrot · 16/02/2008 18:36

Hmm, I hate it when that happens and you wish you'd never seen it and can't get it out of your head.

you weren't being melodramatic, you were worried because you had a very ill baby. We would all be the same. Thank goodness he's getting better now.

eandh · 16/02/2008 18:37

lth - hope he has turned a corner and starts getting better soon

wilkie - mmm v.annoying re neighbours but you'll be moving soon and wont have to deal with it and I am fed up of whining maoning children hattie is permantely clinging to my leg if I pick her up its wrong put her down its wrong etc etc

been at my nans all day had a lovely time and girls were spoilt (both got some new bits in asda) left at 3.50 and had to keep elloe awake for the hour drive (was just me and girls) so lots of singing and being silly, she has now gone to bed but hattie awake as she fell asleep for half an hour

We had chinese last night and they got our order wrong so didnt really enjoy it and now I need to cook tonight and cant be arsed

eandh · 16/02/2008 18:39

x post lth - you werent being silly, you were worried, he was/is poorly and sleep deprivation is an evil thing, how is he now?

ladytophamhatt · 16/02/2008 18:59

He's tired so is getting abit tetchy. I didn't really want him to go to sleep yet but I can't get him to wait concidering he slept so little last night.

eandh · 16/02/2008 19:06

he may have a better night catching up on sleep he has missed? Hattie just gone up but not asleep as I can hear her 'talking' to herslelf (we have put a mirror oposite her bed so she thinks its someone else there )

Wilkie · 16/02/2008 20:06

God LTH - you weren't being melodramatic!!! G is really poorly and you are worried. Perfectly understandable. Is it awful that I was reassured that a mother of 4 STILL has moments where she doesn't know what the hell to do ?!?!?

ladytophamhatt · 16/02/2008 20:09

TBh wilkie, thats excatly why I was so scared. None of them have been this ill before and it really scared me....I had no idea what to do.

he might have balanitus PCF, which is basically thrush in little boys. The Gp with give him some cream to put on it and it'll clear up within a few days. Ds3 had it recently and hes willy was all wonky, it was really odd....then when he had abath tonnes of pus came out, OMG it was RANK!
Ds1 has tight foreskin, its also quite long so theres alot to retract when he tries but I think the general consensus is to leave it to nature and only push it back as far as it will go. Overtime it'll gradually go further back.
Ds3s goes back alot further then ds1 even now....not sure what ds2s does, he's constantly got has hand down his pants so I'm sure it does something!!!

G is alot better today. And he slept from 7pm until 5am, he had a bottle of milk and went back to sleep for 2 hours. He's spots have all started to scab now but with so many he feels like he's made of sandpaper
Its such a relief to have him better and back to his usual self...T'was a scary few days.
