Hi all, I made it to swimming and came home and did everything I planned to do, and remembered everything to take with me to meet up with some other mumsnetters in Crouch End. There's a huge pub which is a mum and baby hangout (quite bizarrely) and last time we met there we had the whole place to ourselves (5 mums and babies). This time when I arrived at 1.30 there were two other large groups of mums and babies, and a table with just two mum and baby pairs, good thing one of those I met before and baby were already there too. 8 or 9 of us found our way there this time and it was fun, though D was definitely a handful, he started trying to take another baby's tights off .

Re GMTV poll/piece on extended breastfeeding, what cowards!

AM, nice to see you back, sorry to hear your temp placement treated you so badly. Nasty people . What did you find out about why they didn't offer you the job? Was it ageism or was there more to it than that? Hope you find a proper job soon.

Sexonlegs · 30/01/2008 20:35

Hi Auntie, lovely to see you back. Hope you and yours are well.

Elkie, you don't sit still for a minute do you?? Sounds like you had a lovely day

Hey Oooggs, how are you tonight?

MJ, so glad F had a good time at nursery.

How is everyone else this fine evening??

I am knackered! Dh away tonight as well
B was awake at 1.30 - yelling out to me as she needed a tissue and then at 6.00 as her duvet had come off a tiny bit! FFS! She is like the bloody queen!

elkiedee · 30/01/2008 20:37

Update for AM's benefit, the end of my time off work approaches - I've finished maternity leave and am now using up most of my 2007/2008 annual leave. I'm torn between looking forward to returning to work (even though I spent a lot of time feeling bored there!) and the variety, and feeling sad at the prospect of leaving D behind at a childminder and not going to all those baby groups and things any more. Just as I've found something to do almost every day too.

D is a bit of a giant, tall and frighteningly strong, has 8 teeth and is very mobile and very nosy, he's into everything, I love him to bits but he's quite a handful. We have a cage aka a playpen for him. He seems to be enjoying his food and is learning to feed himself a bit more which is fun.

We had a burglary which was a real shock earlier this month, insurance has covered the replacement cost of the valuables taken quite well (most have come down in price since they were bought) but I'm still rather sad that my own baby blanket which I was still using for D was used to carry away our things in.

elkiedee · 30/01/2008 20:38

SOL, it's D who won't sit still for a minute, being at home with him is far too much like hard work for me. Plus I feel guilty about the housework. Much better to go out.

oooggs · 30/01/2008 20:42

oh sol your B sounds just like ds1 who shouted out in the night cos his duvet had fallen off - fgs I just get the dts sleep semi sorted and he kicks off - doesn't he remember that mummy has to go up a flight of stair to assist him?

I am well sol and how are you doing with dh away?

dd went 7pm - 7.15am
ds2 went 7pm - 7.15am (with an hour trying to party with daddy at midnight but no milk, promptly back to bed)

I am excited I am going on a meet up!!!

runnyhabbit · 30/01/2008 20:50

Well, dh left tonight - he's working away for 2 nights. J got excited, because he thought he was going out in daddys van. We had to tell him that daddy was going to work - he didn't cry straight away, just turned away from dh, looked at me, and his bottom lip started to go. Was enough to set me off though
Started cheering up when I said we could watch Thomas when daddy was in work - bit of bribery works wonders

Anyway, the boys are sharing a bedroom for the first time tonight. Have no idea how it will go though

And its my last day in work tomorrow...

must go and have something to eat....

Octothechildherder · 30/01/2008 20:54

runny and

Sexonlegs · 30/01/2008 20:59

Hi Oooggs, I am ok, but just so tired. Probably like all working mummies, I feel like I am running around like a nutter.

It's all the clearing up, washing up, feeding the cats etc that normally dh and I share to some degree.

He has just phoned to inform me that he is going to be away Monday night and back late Tuesday night as well. I am not pleased.

Sorry for the rant.

Hi Octo. How is Ernie?

Runny, hope you are ok. Enjoy your last day at work.

oooggs · 30/01/2008 20:59

hope the sharing works well runny

where is everyone (before I go to bed)(must turn it on)

elkiedee · 30/01/2008 21:00

Good luck to all those coping on their own while dhs and dps away, especially as you all seem to have more than one little one to contend with.

Octothechildherder · 30/01/2008 21:03

Thanks SOL
He seems better but very grumpy! I am starting to think he may have swallowed some lego or something he hasn;t been sick since saturday but he has runny bottom and not into food. He cries alot - going to see HV tomorrow.

Eddas · 30/01/2008 21:28

hi everyone. have read thread but brain is mush. Too much to do at work and someone has just been round wanting tax return help so haven't had a chance to rest the brain yet. Do'ya think it's possible to literally not be able to fit anymore information in your head? Feel like it's gonna explode!

Hopefully a sleep will help

Sexonlegs · 30/01/2008 21:29

Octo, K had a runny bum for a whole week after she was sick . Hopefully Ernie will pick up soon and will be back to fighting fit.

StealthPolarBear · 30/01/2008 22:21

poor you gmm (That sounded insincere, wasn't meant to be!) Can't believe you did so much damage with one night of dancing!
Still trying to fill in this stupid form, T would not settle but he has now, think his room was too light. Stupid things like that, could have had him asleep an hour and a half ago!!
