Muppet - your poor friend

Divastrop · 05/02/2008 11:44

muppet-.i cant imagine what its like to go through something like that.my thoughts are with your friend.

piffle-up and down is better than down i suppose

Elsie only had one nap yesterday, she only slept from 12.45-1.30pm,then went to bed at 7.she woke up at about 6,unlike dd2 who woke at 3.40am due to a very wet nappy.i was quite glad though as i'd been having a very weird dream at the time.

Callieco · 05/02/2008 16:08

Sneaky post from work - Muppet, so sorry for your friend. I think what other people have said is right, it is acknowledging the fact of it that she will appreciate, whatever you decide to do. I don't think flowers are trite by the way - we give them when people die after all, and her baby has died. How awful to have to go through labour as well. Poor girl.

Kiwi - fingers crossed for you!!!

Rosy - oh I really hope you are right. However, I'm trying not to think about it every month now, as it's probably counterproductive.

kiwibella · 05/02/2008 19:09

muppet nature can be awful sometimes... I hope that your friend finds the strength to get through this.

Spice... your tribute in Peru is beautiful!! A trip to Peru sounds amazing even .

Callie... are you ttc?? The waiting game is awful... but it's so difficult not to wonder and hope.

Diva, it's not often that we are glad to be woken !! Good girl Elsie... and also Finn for giving their mamas a good rest. After Kate's late night, she woke at 6:30 and only slept for about an hour from 12-1pm. She went down about 6... and hopefully will remain for the night . Her sleeping has been so erratic lately... I forgave it while she was ill but am hoping that she will sort out a routine-ish again.

How is Monti, Foxy??

Has Evenhope left for NZ????

OP posts:
Callieco · 05/02/2008 19:32

Kiwi - I am. It is awful, isn't it? I'm really trying not to obsess about it, because when I got pg last time I was immersed in the other things in life I was doing and not really thinking too much about it.

kiwibella · 05/02/2008 19:38

us too!! It was the last thing we expected after ttc for sooo long .

OP posts:
Divastrop · 05/02/2008 20:27

@at all who are ttc.small age gaps seem like a good idea in theory,i forgot what it was really like.

kittywise · 06/02/2008 07:25

Small age gaps are bloody hard work, even now with the older two there is a lot of rivalry.

Rosylily · 06/02/2008 10:02

When I was at my desperately yearning to be pregnant stage I couldn't help obsessing so I just went with it.
There was a pattern to my month which would start with being gutted at af and the loss of another egg then I would recover and new hope would spring. After mid cycle I would be really aware of my body and trying to note any changes pmt would confuse me....sigh I was often late (being perimenapausal I suppose) I was gutted if I wasted money did a test and it was negative....oh yes I was pretty obsessed

But since that time I've popped out three babies woohoo

fitfox · 06/02/2008 10:07

Monti still vomming - started 4.30am Sunday morning so it is now 78 hours!

Dh took him to GP yesterday who said " he is actually coming to the end of it now" DH gave Monti some dry bread and bioled potatoes yesterday as the porr wee mite was starving.

2.30am this morning, my bed was covered in bread and potato patterned vomit

I don't know how much more of this I can take.

I have been up the past 4 nights. Was on my own with kids all day Saturday, Sunday and Monday and DH has announced that he has a very important meeting to go to this Sunday . That's in addition to workibg this Sat. No doubt one of the others will be vomming by the weekend.

Spice - I find that quite moving - your saying goodbye to the baby. I'm feeling a bit emotional ATM. I guess I shouldn't complain about a bit of sick should I?

I can't help feeling angry as one of the Mum's who uses my CM took her vomitting child there on Thursday. Monti was there 8am Friday (for the whole day) and has caught this Norovirus thing of her kid, who plays with the same toys as Monti at CMs (no one elase we know has it and Monti hasn't been in contact with anyone else). Objects such as toys, door handles etc remain contaminated with the virus for 3 days, it is so contagious. Monti is now far sicker than her boy was last week, being about 13 months younger and I feel really cross about it. Her Mum also took her son to a playgroup a couple of hours after he'd been vomitting. So I bet Monti isn't the only child who's been infected by their complete lack of consideration for other people

I'm angry 'cos its Monti who is suffering now and its just not fair on him, poor thing

fitfox · 06/02/2008 10:09

Rosy stop it you are making me broody!

Rosylily · 06/02/2008 10:49

Foxy that is awful, poor Monti and poor tired you!
And after all that you still feel broody? Have another go on go on go on go on go on....

dd was sick in her bed last night from coughing so much and ds2 was sick the night before everywhere in bed from stuffing his face with oranges before his milk I think, because that was it.
We have escaped the vomiting bug but loads of people have had it and it sounds like a real stinker.

kittywise · 06/02/2008 11:08

Oh Foxy poor you and poor monti
That is so bloody selfish of that woman .
How are you feeling? You're not feeling sick too are you?

Saying that, yesterday I took the three youngest to out local zoo. On the way there I started to feel sick, hot and dizzy. As we got closer I thought "I'm going to be sick"
I was, into my mouth and I had to swallow it a couple of times(yuk).
Then I pulled in the zoo car park, found the first space I could, opened the van door and vomited all over it . I felt really shakey for the rest of the day. I don't know whether it was a bug or whether it's connected to my terrible jaw pain which has come back with a vengence .

Kiwi, have you done a pg test yet?

bethoo · 06/02/2008 11:14

Kitty - how brave of yuo to puke and swallow! cant think about it anymore as i may throw up! do you have some sort of bug too? hta was very selfless of you ot put the kiddies first and take them to the zoo regardless.

does anyone think that maybe because i am still bf it is affecting my symptoms as cant tell if boobs have changed, no tenderness and no nausea. i ma weeing slightly more than usual but not particularly more tired than usual! do you think i can request an early scan as i have a feelingthat this pregnancy has stopped growing.

kittywise · 06/02/2008 11:26

bethoo, I was still feeding dd3 when first pg with Ronnie and I'm sure it affected my boobs in that they weren't sore at all.
If I were you I would insist on an early scan.
What you are going through is really horrible, I know {{hugs]}}.

I have been there many, many times.

Phone your dr today and ask them to book one in for you.

bethoo · 06/02/2008 11:31

kitty - i have booked to see gp tomorrow pm so i will mention it. just hate being stuck in limbo, not knowing whether to get excited or move on you know? usually htey only give early scans if bleeding or in pain so i may say my cramps are alot worse than they actually are.

Rosylily · 06/02/2008 11:36

Bethoo I get lots of crampy pains in early preganancy and my nausea doesn't kick in immediately. You will probably be feeling more pregnant in a week or two. Fingers crossed for you that all will be fine.

Ive given up chocolate (again) for lent. sigh...I love chocolate.....

Piffle · 06/02/2008 11:39

Foxy sorry but pms at your grim vomity post then your broody statement right afterwards
Do you never learn woman?

It is hard to starve a baby with such a virus, poor little Monti and poor you with all the caring!

Finn was effing nightmare last night, I could barely sleep cos leg was agony. Fine standing but mimute I lay down HORRIBLE
DD 5 projectile vomited in the car on way home from school = grim, thankfully we starved her from 4pm and she has been fine since, off school today as we hate infecting other kids, wish other mothers would bloody do that
Got my mum here atm which chould make things easier but with ehr you never bloody know

kiwibella · 06/02/2008 11:46

Rosy... that is a tough one to give up!! Mmmmm.

Yes, I had a negative pg test this morning I want(ed) a little age gap because I have such a big one already!!

Foxy, when Kate had 'the bug' last week she vomitted from Saturday until Thursday. She still has diarrhea - and doctor said this can last for two weeks??? I was able to collect a stool sample this morning... two more spills on the carpet - one out of her nappy and another while I was getting the cleaning stuff from the kitchen .

Bethoo... hope that gp will send you for a test and you can find out what is going on.

OP posts:
Rosylily · 06/02/2008 11:52

Kiwi aaw but it'll soon be time to try again, maybe next month the test will be positive!!!

bethoo · 06/02/2008 13:05

thanks ladies for your support though i have no reason to rant really as there are others on this post suffering more than me what with aching bodies and vomitting babies, i have it easy really.
i was at the gym just now and i found i could not push myslef liek i used to, it was a struggle to run on the treadmill for 10 mins then i was yawning all the time i was on the bike. still did sit ups as waiting for a defo it is ok.
honestly when i see the gp tomorrow i feel like i may as well ask for a d&c that is how sure i am this is not going ot happen!
sorry i am in self pity mode (could it be hormones????

Divastrop · 06/02/2008 16:19

bethoo-just say to the gp that you are getting one sided pain, that way they have to send you for a scan to rule out ectopic.if you just say you want one cos youre worried about no symptoms they will probably dismiss you as being paranoid.far better to bend the truth slightly IMO.(and IME).

foxy-sorry to hear about monti's pukiness.i hope he gets better very soon.shouldnt the CM have refused to look after the vomiting child?there was a AIBU thread on here the other week where a mum was saying people should keep their children off nursery etc if they have a cold.thats a bit OTT i think, but most schools and nurseries have a policy of keeping a child off for at least 24hours after they last vomit/do a runny,so why isnt it the same with CM?

dd2 has had 2 sleeps today, she doesnt usually have any.dh has a cold and so does Elsie.

bella-hopefully next month will be different.

kitty-@swallowing puke.i think i would have had to puke into my lap and gone home to change.

i hope everybody's pain+illness and worries over ill children dissapear soon.

i suppose i better go and see how badly ive been slagged off by the jordan fan club on that stupid thread....

Callieco · 06/02/2008 20:41

Eew - was eating tea while reading about the vomiting . Poor Monti and Kitty!

Piffle - DD 5??? Is there something you're not telling us, like you actually have another four children stashed away? .

Well, day off today cos of working Saturday, so went back to signing this morning, then for a walk by the sea this afternoon. Jordi still coughing violently when he does it, but his eyes have cleared up and he's much more himself, which is a relief. He's finally starting to sit up by himself, which is a huge weight off my mind, although I still worry about his twisty head, which no medical person seems to see.

Bella, sorry about your result. . Could be too early though if your AF hasn't arrived.

Bethoo, fingers crossed for you. Isn't it a good sign if you are feeling tired etc at the gym- isn't it more likely you are pregnant than not if so?

Muppet, how is your friend doing? I have been thinking about her situation a lot.

Rosy, I was contemplating giving up sweet stuff for Lent in an atheistic kind of way, but totally forgot and scoffed a few choccies at lunchtime. Now I'm trying to decide if it's too late/pointless to start or whether to go for it. The thing is, cos I don't drink much these days, I kind of think this is my one indulgence, but i don't know. Maybe I'll just restrict myself to dark chocolate and give up everything else - have been a bit handy with the cakes and stuff recently, which is not really like me.

bethoo · 06/02/2008 21:06

i am feeling a bit more positive as i have read some of my pregnancy diary (pampers one came with bounty pack!!) and i was worried then about no symptons as did not get them til after 6 weeks and i had cramps til my second trimester so hopefully i am ok.

Callie - glad to see that little Jordi is back to feeling himself, coughs take ages to dissipate.

i did not have pancakes yesterday!! did not get to shop to buy the mix!!!

fitfox · 07/02/2008 08:53

Hi everyone

Well I am feeling very "Norovirussy" today. Woke up twice last night all ready to vomit but didn't. three people in my team at work have it now (not from me, honest) and I am at work but feel guilty for coming in infected

Diva - CM policy is 48 hours clear after the last vom/poo with D&V but she didn't know that the other child had vommitted on Tuesday as the parent didn't inform her. Otherwise she wouldn't have taken him. I discussed with CM yesterday and she said that the other child was putting toys into his mouth on Thursday. Monti put the same toys into his mouth Friday (the toys would be contaminated for 3 days) - 36 hours later Monti starts vomming (incubation period is 12-48 hours)

Kiwi sorry about your neg test result. Look on the bright sight - you now have an excuse for more lurving this month. You will get there, I know you will

Bethoo I think the fact you are so tired is a good indicator - I remember going for a walk with my friend before I knew I was PG with Monti and having to keep stopping as I was so tired

Kitty - at you having to swallow your seek. You are a great Mum - selflessly swallowing your puke and carrying on so your kids could have a nice day . I just saw your vid on you tube !!
