Hello ladies!

Well here is the new thread so I can link it before the old one runs out... Hope you all find it!

Floria swimming is fab isn't it? And we did baby signing (Sing and Sign) with Sam and it's great. Have to say I didn't remember to use it as much as I should at home but he loved the classes.

Anyasmum glad I helped to cheer you up!

On the travel cots we had the smsonite bubble and it is great. Not a hope of it lasting to 18 months though - as soon as they can crawl they can flip it over! Can't hurt themselves as longas its only on the floor though. I'd still recommend it for when they are tiny though but might be worth trying to borrow rather than buy?

Anyway off to finish cooking dinner as we're having a very earely night tonight - both shattered!

oooo Floria - that sounds FAB! Loved baby signing with Oliver (so much that when he could talk and got upset and wanted 'more' he would sign it desperately even though I had said no!)

Will do some research tonight.

Good news on the 'not going back to work' talk.

Stefka · 28/01/2008 20:52

Hey floria that sounds interesting - can you tell me more about it?

muppetgirl · 28/01/2008 21:13

Stefka - here
I have sent an email...

Stefka · 28/01/2008 21:27

It cost four grand so that's me out already!

FloriaTosca · 28/01/2008 21:28

Hi Stefka
I'll be able to tell you more tomorrow when I have been to the class...I dont know if you have heard anything about it at all (sorry if you already know this) but it is supposed to help your child to communicate sooner than it would normally be able to do with speech and can actually promote early development of language....the classes teach the basics through song and rhyme so should be fun, but for us the most important thing is that we should be able to communicate with 2 of my friends children who have special needs...
got to go Alex has woken...

FloriaTosca · 28/01/2008 21:37

Dh settled him...
Xposted..
Ah I see you wanted to know about the franchise not the classes sorry.
Thanks for the link Muppet.
£4,000! Steep, but it should pay itself back quite quickly I should think...the local one here must be making more than £70 per session ie £210 per morning..even after tax and paying for a hall/room it's making a fair profit....
Going to have an early night...have a good one everyone

Stefka · 28/01/2008 21:43

Might look into the classes then - they sound good!

strawberrylace · 28/01/2008 22:21

Evening all!
Sorry to hear that some of you are having problems with non-sleeping LOs
Mine - perhaps you could speak to your doc and see if you could have a different brand of pill? Some can react badly for people I think. At least we have our meet up to look forward to!
Polar - glad Zoe's christening went well
Alicet - glad you enjoyed sat night
Anyasmum - Olly also tends to be more unsettled in the afternoon - as does a friends little boy, so I don't think you are alone...
Hello to everyone else - hope you are all ok. Today we went into town and met a couple of mums and their LOs in the Debenhams cafe - it's like being 13 again when you can make one drink last all afternoon! Also managed to get a few jobs done, including getting a half price baby monitor in TKMaxx, so we can put Olly upstairs in hsi cot a bit earlier now.
Hope you all get some sleep tonight!

missbumpy · 28/01/2008 22:30

hi,
the swimming sounds great. are there any rules about how old LO should be and which jabs they need to have had? I might try to go with a friend as I can't imagine how I would get DD and me changed and deal with lockers and showers etc on my own.

don't want to rain on anyone's parade but i was doing an MA in applied linguistics until I got pregnant and I remember having a lecture with a leading academic in the field of sign language and he said all the research shows that baby signing does nothing to improve communication skills of babies who don't have hearing or learning difficulties. Sounds like a fun thing to do though and great if you've got friends with special needs.

DD's slept loads today so I'm worried I've got a terrible night ahead

nellieloula · 28/01/2008 22:34

Hi everyone - just another quick one to reassure anya that most babies are more unsettled in the pm as they are becoming increasinly stimulated as the day goes on, and mum's are increasingly knackered! Good mix! Gets better as they can cope with the suroundings though - also was it you talking about teething? The best thing I, and everyone I recommended it too (was slightly evangelical!) found was Nelsons teething granules. They are homeopathic so don't contain anything bad or dangerous - just callendular I think. You get little sachets and either tip it into their mouths or rub it on the gums. God knows how it works but it was nothing short of miraculous with DS - and when it became really painful (mostly with molars - a long way off yet) nurofen worked quickest and best we found. nelson's granules are in most chemists now - hope that helps.

off to bed now with fingers crossed that we can go for more than 3 hrs asleep and that I remain resolved at keeping her in that cot!!

Apricott · 28/01/2008 23:04

Back to the travel cots - Floria, that was the one I was looking at too and I've not found it that cheap anywhere.

Night night ...

muppetgirl · 29/01/2008 06:12

Morning all
Henry woke at 5.20 this morning, I left him but he wouldn't settle. I gave him a bottle of boiled water to which he got really excited about the prospect of a bottle but the was really upset that it was water not milk. I boobed him adn he had both boobs and is now back sleeping (like a baby!)
I'm getting him weighed today so I'll see the results before making any decisions about baby rice but his milk intake has really increased over the past few days with him haveing an 8oz bottle, straight down last night. Could be a growth psurt but we seem to have only just recovered from the last one

Can I also ask - has everyone had an af yet? Henry is 12 weeks and I haven't had one yet. I only b/f morning and evening after b/f till 8/9 weeks. Is this okay?

Ollie has friends over for tea so I will spend most of the day tidying the house

ohh, H has woken again.....

MrsFish · 29/01/2008 06:40

Morning muppetgirl.

I didn't bf Ben but didn't start my first AF till Xmas Day, Ben was born 5th Oct, so I wouldn't worry. I didn't have a perios the whole time I was feeding Sam which was 5 months

Ben woke up at 4.30 and I have been playing the settling game since then. I got up in the end as I was just lying in bed awake. I'm just waiting for his bottle to get to the right temp to give it to him, he will prob take the whole 8oz

Gotta go, starting to cry

muppetgirl · 29/01/2008 07:45

Your thoughts on my thread regarding Oliver's weight would be great x

here

ejt1764 · 29/01/2008 08:43

muppetgirl - am very that you haven't had af yet - I had my first one 4 weeks after M was born ... and I'm exclusively bf! Not fair (stamps feet and has a strop) ... mine are now very light though as I have the Mirena in - and from past experience, they'll stop altogether in a couple of months !

dal - the bf top I have is a size L - it fits me fine - but I'm very buxom - wearing a 36G bra now - it might be a bit big for you!

can't remember what everybody else said - dh is away this week, so I'm it again ... bedtime went really well last night - but Mairwen had a poo brewing, so was up at 3, 4, 5, and 6 ... then Rhydian got up at 6.45 ... need a knackered emoticon here! He's got speech therapy this afternoon, so I'm treating him to a MacDonald's again - basically because I really couldn't be arsed to make his packed lunch!

Am going to try to go back to bad - Mairwen is asleep in the pram ....

love and hugs to all!

J2O · 29/01/2008 09:20

morning

i've just come on to moan really!
muppet-Shannon was awake at 5.20 too, i tried cuddling her in bed but she just got really mad, i think she's having a growth spurt as she is out of her routine wanting feeding all the time, i've had 3 af so far and lo was born 5 Oct too, mine are so heavy that its going through my clothes and making me feel quite weak, not what i need atm.

anyway better get on with all my chores, have a nice day all

muppetgirl · 29/01/2008 09:52

Just got back from nursery...
A woman drove into the back of me and has broken my bumper!!! Her car will need an awful lot doing to it as her bonnet (sp?) was pushed up. We were queuing in traffic and I stopped and she didn't. These are the times that I love having a 4 x 4 as the damage to my car was negligible really considering her damage (Sorry if you hate 4 x 4's!) It makes me feel safe driving my 'truck' especially with the boys.

J20 - You don't sound great do you think you need to see the dr about your heaving af's? I know what you eman about the growth spurts...H seems to have been having one since he was born with only a couple of weeks off

Ejt - Not fair on the af's is it?? We went to McDonalds last night (with the friends son who ate loads more than Ollie did!)

ChocolateHobnob · 29/01/2008 10:03

Brief stop... I haven't had a period either (but R is only 11 weeks and I've been exclusively bf). Doc told me it was random-you can get it a month after baby is born, or not until you stop bf, or any time in between!

Muppet, J20, poor you with the wakings. Rebecca is being difficult too if it helps - not hungry so it isnt a growth spurt - it's an awkward phase! She's developed a VERY ANNOYING party trick of kicking herself awake, smiling, cooing, then getting cross and looking for her dummy. From 11-3 last night I did nothing but return her dummy every 15 mins or so. V annoying.

Trying to remember what others said... Mine hope you're feeling a bit chirpier. Dal, how's the feeding going?

Nellie, Rebecca is right next to me, too - in a co-sleeper, rather than in my bed, but she might as well be in my bed as the sleeper is level with our mattress and the side isnt on.

Am looking forward to our meetups!

Stefka · 29/01/2008 10:43

That's weird - Dareh was also up at 5.20!

Not had AF myself - fingers crossed I won't for a while.

Stefka · 29/01/2008 10:49

Ejt I wanted to ask you about reflux. How did you know that Mairen had it? I am wondering if Dareh does. What meds did you get for it?

muppetgirl · 29/01/2008 11:01

..well, that was another 8ozs straight down looks like we're def on a growth spurt!

J2O · 29/01/2008 12:04

Muppet-snap with the another 8 oz! i'm going to get the 2nd milk next time i go shopping.
i think i prob should go to docs about my af, never been this heavy before and its bright red this time, i even did a pg test just in case yesterday after coming on a week after i'd finished the last one and in quite a lot of discomfort, altough there's only a very miniscule chance that i could be, but it was negative anyway. its times like this i wish i had a prooper dp to give me a couple of hours break. oh gotta go..

J2O · 29/01/2008 12:17

stefka here

Shannon was awful for the first few weeks with it, i got given loads of different medicines, including baby gaviscon, but i ended up stopping all of them as i didn't know what was working and what wasn't, she's got better, but is still sick a lot and its sometimes fermented! i tend to be covered in it daily.

Stefka · 29/01/2008 13:32

Thanks - Dareh is sick a lot after feeds. Did you see a dr about this? He often cries after feeds as well - he gets a sore tummy. I have been using infacol in the evening which seems to have helped a bit.
