Hello ladies!

Well here is the new thread so I can link it before the old one runs out... Hope you all find it!

yeah would get him to the docs stefka, you know best and if you think he's not right it'd be best to get him checked out, sure it's nothing serious. Has he had his jabs recently? sickness and diarrhea is one of the side effects i think?

alicet · 03/02/2008 20:06

Stefka thinking of you honey and sorry Dareh isn't right. Think taking him to the docs is definately a good idea. Make sure he is keeping well hydrated - he may want to feed little and often to get more of the watery foremilk which will unfortunately be rough for you. If he seems unusually drowsy or won't feed especially if his nappies are dry then think about taking him sooner rather than later... Thinking of you x

muppet - you definitely have a claim against the Post Office - their staff are told expressly that they shouldn't leave parcels anywhere other than with the householder unless you have made a specific arrangement with your postie ... I'd bang hard on the table and demand the money from them if your seller won't help (as well as going through ebay etc.)!

stefka - sorry that lo's not well

have fun in York tomorrow!

Mine - do you have a Tesco clubcard? If so, you can cash in some of your vouchers for their Deals ... each £1 in vouchers is worth £4 in tokens to get into places ... we paid for our holiday with ours last year ... and are taking a big chunk out of the amount we have to pay this year too! Clubcard Deals site - you can go to Bleinhem Palace!

Dal - hope you have fun working up to the deed ... - my dh was more scared about hurting me than I was!

MrsFish - am so glad the goo is helping ... I make the applications of the various ungents we use into a game, and sing songs while I'm doing it - tummy is round and round the garden, legs are jelly on a plate, you get the idea! You can also use the aqueous cream in the bath as a skinwash ... I use it myself like that - saves me a fortune on lotions and potions ...

muppetgirl - hope today was better for you!

We've had a relatively quiet weekend - Rhydian has a cold, which has made him uber-whingy ... Mairwen has now decided that she doesn't want to go to sleep in her cot ... it's just taken me almost 1 1/2 hours to get her to bed ... now going to have some chilling out me time ...

Have a lovely Sunday night all ... Mairwen has her last set of jabs tomorrow ... am not looking forward to that at all!

waves to all!

muppetgirl · 03/02/2008 21:08

Hi all!

Stefka - Sorry to hear lo is ill, hoping he'll be better soon...

Thanks to all re the ebay thing. I sent the seller a bit of an email as I pointed out he had charged £6.99 for postage and if he didn't claim as he has to being the sender then I shall consider the item not received and leave appropriate feedback.
...he emailed back apologetically saying that he would get someone to find the proof of postage on Monday. He sounds bloody dodgy to me as he says he's not in the country but lists the items as being in Manchester -how does that work? If I don't get any joy from him in the next couple of days then I will go through paypal to get the money back and say it wasn't received. I think this takes the money back from him?

I went to tennis today. We get put into mixed doubles and play various matches. We won the first 2 matches but lost the last -I was KNACKERED at the end and my wrist is hurting. Ollie was fantastically behaved for dh whilst I played so he got his 'carrot' of playing a game of twister before bed (Great for learning colours and then left/right, also very fun! McDonalds are giving away sets in their happy meals )
Both boys booked into creche tomorrow whilst I go on a 'learn to play tennis' course that's free at the gym. Oliver also has the dentist at in the afternoon so wish me luck... though we have been practising opening our mouths so we can look at our teeth.
Have a lovely time on the meet up tomorrow
Emma

stefka-defo get lo checked out. You know him best, if you think he's not right then he probably isn't his usual lovely self.

FloriaTosca · 04/02/2008 10:34

Morning all!
I'm desperately upset I was soooo looking forward to the York meet, I had everything ready for the trip..clothes all laid out for a swift early start etc...and then at 7pm last night lo started whinging, fed, fell asleep woke at 8pm and projectile vomited right over the end of his crib ...we had 1.5 hrs of screaming, just like when he was newborn and had colic, got him bathed and changed and at 9.30 he had another feed and went to bed but 30 mins later off he went again...totally inconsolable...tried gripe water, he threw it up...tried boiled water ditto...the screaming & vomiting went on until 2.30am! We got 2 hrs of peace and then a single sleeping scream at 4.30, so I lifted him and gave him a bit of a dream feed (worried sick about him dehydrating...this is a child who has never gone more than 6 hrs between feeds and normally wont go more than 3)and we got another 2 hrs peace. He woke at 6.30 wanting bf, went off to sleep and I thought, "oh good, must have been something I ate, he's ok now and we can still go to York " got showered and dressed and started eating some cereal but 15 mins later off he goes again He went to sleep again at 8.30am and woke again at 9.30 apparently happy with a very dirty nappy, changed (for the umpteenth time) fed and threw it all up again! But at least the screaming has stopped, and he has fed yet again (with both of us swathed in bath towels...he's on his 3rd change of clothes and I'm on my second in 3 hours!!!!) and finally managed to keep it down [relieved emoticon] and has dropped off to sleep again. He is still looking very pale but hasn't got a temperature and is wetting his nappies ok and his soft spot looks rounded so I think he should be alright but if he hasnt completely stopped being sick by noon I'm phoning the doctor.

Needless to say we aren't going to York! Even if Alex was completely fine, I wouldn't be safe to drive back home this afternoon after so much sleep deprivation and more importantly if this is a viral tummy bug I wouldn't want to inflict it on my worst enemy let alone all our precious mn lo's. ...oh well...the best laid plans etc etc...[we need a weeping with frustration emoticon]...I sooo wanted to meet Alicet and Choc and Mrs Fish and Anyasmum and J20 and all the los [stamps feet]
...So when are we going to meet up again then?

Right ...I'd better take advantage of this nap to get all those sick covered clothes and terry squares in the wash (oh the joy!)

Stefka · 04/02/2008 13:48

Just back from Dr - he thinks it's reflux and gave me meds. He had no idea how I would give it as he is BF! The HV is going to call me later about it.

muppetgirl · 04/02/2008 14:16

Florai - You poor things!!! I hope Alex is better soon both for you and your washing machine!!

Stfka - Glad it's been diagnosed adn I hope you find a solution to giving the meds soon

Apricott · 04/02/2008 14:25

Hi everyone,

Long time, no MNing for me.

Sorry to hear about Alex Floria, and that you're missing the meet-up - poor you.

Stefka - you can get a syringe from a pharmacist or try a spoon - Huw is bf, but he's had orange juice from a spoon (a bit messy, I admit) and calpol by syringe. Hope you LO improves soon.

Don't know if any of you have seen this, but it's very funny - made me laugh out loud - only takes a quick look too - www.c00lstuff.com/1133/Do_s_and_don_ts_with_babies/

Huw is actually asleep during the day for a change. I'm going to take the oppportunity to clean the living room (oh, the excitement!)

Big waves to you all.

A xxx

Apricott · 04/02/2008 14:31

Oh, and while I htink of it, and have time, could anyone using real nappies advise me on the best sort of liners to get. I've bought a (yes, jsut one!) cloth nappy (the sort that looks and works like a disposable) and I'm not sure what to put in it - disposable or washable liners? Does anyone have experience of both? I'd like to use reusable nappies at least some of the time, but need liners to get started.

Any suggestions?

Ta

A xx

FloriaTosca · 04/02/2008 15:01

Apricott; I need to copy those dos and donts for dh!
As to liners I use biodegradable/flushable disposable ones...at the moment the rolls I have are from my local nappy supplier but I have used the mothercare ones (slightly smaller and already folded)the washable liners seemed a good idea but I didnt like having to have to scrape them cleanish before putting them in the the bucket so gave them to a friend. It depends what suits you best/how squeamish you are.

Stefka;have you got a doidy cup? Alex is exclusively bf but takes some ebm from one...they are a bit messy at first but they soon get the idea...might be a good way to get the meds down. I hope they work quickly for you.

Well Alex has slept most of the morning away just dream feeding a little every hour when I lifted him and now has some colour in his cheeks and wants to feed more ...I'm letting him have the same length of time, just more frequently...I really dont want another yakking incident if I can avoid it. Must admit I'm shattered...partly relief that Alex is looking better...and partly exhaustion; (I didnt sleep even when Alex did last night, I was so scared that he would choke)I really wish Dh wasn't working in Germany until Wednesday night
Hope all those in York had a fabulous time

muppetgirl · 04/02/2008 15:02

Stefka - is reflux leds liquid? If it is then a syringe is fine whether b/f or not. I had liquid ab's for Henry whilst he was b/f and he took the syringe fine. Squeeze a tiny bit into the back of his throat or down the side of his mouth wait till he swallows before giving anymore.
Hth

WinnieThePooh · 04/02/2008 16:10

I have loads of flushable liners. I could send yoou a roll if yoy want to give them a try. I rwnd to use fleece liners and only use the flushable for the nappies in the change bag.

J2O · 04/02/2008 16:14

FloriaTosca · 04/02/2008 17:27

Hi J20; Hope your dd1 has forgiven you. I hope we can arrange another really soon.
To tell the truth with the lack of sleep and worry over Alex I had forgotten about the nappies I'm so sorry you took them all that way for nothing..If I had thought about it for one minute I would have asked anyasmum to bring them south with her...she lives near my aunt, I could have picked them up on my way past...if you could text or e-mail me your address and tell me how much you want I'll send you a cheque...sorry to put you to the trouble...dhs cousins are both due within the next 4 weeks

ejt1764 · 04/02/2008 19:15

quickly to Stefka ...

Mairwen is exclusively bf, but has the Gaviscon for reflux ... I mix it with about 10ml ebm, in the top of a bottle (or a snack pot), then give it to her with a medicine spoon (after first warming the mixture). When I first started giving it to her, it was easier to use a syringe, but now the spoon method seems to work much better.

Reflux is horrible - I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

ejt1764 · 04/02/2008 19:18

oh, and Apricott, I use the thick ultra paper liners - these - but tbh, they go in the wash, and I'm still on my first roll ... and I use them torn in half as wipes ...

I also have a fleece liner in the nappy, as I find it wicks the moisture away from the skin better, but I prefer to use the paper ones for catching poo (I also tear them in half, and just put them in the general area of where they need to be to catch poo!)

hth!

MrsFish · 04/02/2008 19:24

Hi all

Sorry to have missed you today FT but glad Alex is feeling better. It was really nice to meet everyone, sorry you had to leave so soon J20, hopefully you can hang around a bit longer next time (or get there earlier ) I'll upload the pictures at some point

Well I'm having problems getting Sam to bed atm, he was watching ceebeebies and there was a monster on the storytime bit, he now doesn't want to go to bed because of a 'ROAR' his word for monster. He is quite petrified too, he isn't just playing up as he usually asks to go to bed we now have fireman sam on for a bit in the hope that it takes his mind of the monster

alicet · 04/02/2008 20:07

Sorry you couldn't make it Floria - you were missed! I had a lovely lovely time - it was really nice to meet everyone after chatting on here so much! I'm def up for doing it again soon!

J2O sorry you were late for dd1 honey. And MrsFish hope Sam settles - think calling a monster a roar is really cute!

Apricott can't help on the liners - I use disposables I'm afraid!

Stefka was going to suggest you chatting to ejt about the gaviscon (Adam has it too but ff makes it easier) but I see she has come to your assistance already!

Well I'm off to have tea then bed as I am shattered after Adam waking twice last night, carrying him in the hugabub all day and wine at lunch! See you tomorrow xxxxx

Apricott - fantastic web page - made me cry with laughter!

Floria - so sorry you couldn't make today - and having to cope on your own with Alex so ill. Glad he is feeling better. Why don't you and I meet up soon - we're only about half an hour away from each other? I'll email you.

Had a lovely time in York - it was great to meet up with everybody - all our lo's are sooo cute! Anya slept all the way home (which won't come as any surprise to those at York today - she wore herself out poor thing!) - but we've had another screaming session since we got back - sore gums again. I gave her some more calpol but I'm going to have to be really careful giving it to her when she's crying - I timed it wrong tonight and she took a deep breath to let out a scream and took a lungful of calpol. She went all red and arm-wavy and looked very startled, (but not half as startled as me!) but then coughed it up all over me after some frantic back-slapping. Serves me right!!

Jabs tomorrow - can't wait...

ChocolateHobnob · 04/02/2008 21:13

Hi all

I loved meeting everyone and their babies too! Floria we did miss you and we hope to do it again, so you'll have to be there next time. Oh and Rebecca enjpyed herself even though Adam flirted with her then dropped her for Anya, who was playing it decidedly cool (wanted Adam's toy more than Adam...).

Anya sorry to hear about the Calpol! I can imagine Anya's face now. Poor little thing - give her a hug from me.

Stefka, hope Dareh is better.

Well I bragged to Alicet that DD was now easy to get to sleep (I didnt brag that she STAYED asleep as she still doesnt) and divine retribution: she is still awake even though she went to bed before eight.

Early night for me too, possibly even before DD!

FloriaTosca · 04/02/2008 21:13

Hi Anya, Alice,J20 & Mrs Fish; I'm so glad you all had a good time...very,very ...but there was no way I could have made it, lease can we do another really soon? and Anyasmum yes please; Alex needed little feeds every hour and possetted after every one until about 5pm. I've just had a lovely bath with him and let him feed for a bit longer (without ill effects thank heavens)... sorry if tmi but he stopped violently vomiting and screaming after each feed once he had filled his nappy with the most horrendous green muck at about 11am poor darling. Hopefully he will continue to improve tonight but must admit I'm like a cat on a hot tin roof I'm so edgy when he is this sick....Laughably I remember saying last year (after all my previous
losses) that once I had him/her safe in my arms I was sure I'd relax and be the most laid back mother ever..ha,ha!!
Night night All...I'm off to try and catch up on some of last nights lost sleep if he'll let me.

FloriaTosca · 04/02/2008 21:18

Choc;xposted..sorry missed you too and glad you had a good time...poor Rebecca being jilted already! I'm sure she'll turn the tables on Adam soon enough!...when we do meet up Alex will give him some competition!
Really am off to bed now...g'night all!

Dalrymps · 04/02/2008 23:44

Oh god, Dylan is really suffering with teething today, at least I think thats what it is, he keeps chewing his fingers and driibling and biting our fingers and crying LOADS. We've given him some calpol and he was ok for about half an hour but now he's crying again, gave him some cold teething toys to chew on which occupied him for about 2 minutes then he cried again, was considering bonjella but the packet says from 4 months and he's only 3 months... any ideas??
