laughalot · 25/01/2008 12:59

L is in a size 3 still.

katwith3kittens · 25/01/2008 13:03

I might leave him at your house then now you have told me that PCF

Lizzzombie · 25/01/2008 13:36

OMG - I am sending a big hug out to Jodie and you others who have had sleep issues of late.

For the last week, DJ has woken up at 11pm on the dot and refused to go to sleep in his cot. Now, I am usually pretty strict, but after an hour or so of him screaming for no reason, I've been giving up and letting him come in with me.

How on earth do you co-sleepers handle it?! I spend half the night holding onto his ankles to stop him throwing himself out the side of the bed, and the other half of the night being woken up by the baby flailing arms around and fidgeting. I am in dire need of a decent nights sleep and think we will just have to sit out the screaming for a while longer till he falls asleep in his cot. I've decided that calpol, medised and nurofen just make him hyper. The only thing which sends him off to sleep is me singing "grand old duke of york" but as soon as I stop he wakes up.

Also, am off to look at BLW threads now, he will not let me feed him anything anymore. But will only eat certain foodstuffs. I am slightly concerned that he has a very limited diet.

Not sure how he will cope when I tell him Daddy had the last piece of birthday cake last night too! He has been enjoying that!

Lizzzombie · 25/01/2008 13:37

Susie - have a great time with DP. Where are you going to be? DJ is in Huggies size 4. We only get leaks with them when he poo's for Britain!

laughalot · 25/01/2008 13:52

Lizz have you thought of putting him a bed ? Some children sleep better in a bed aidan was around 18 months and he started waking up for no reason we put him in a bed and he was fine.

eandh · 25/01/2008 14:13

hattie loves her bed but wakes at 3.30-4am every morning I just get her put her in bed with me (she goes in the middle with one pillow and then I fold the over pillow for me) she sleeps really high up almost against the headboard and then falls back to sleep in minutes but she doesnt wriggle so I often wake and check shes still breathing dh normally gets up around 4.15-4.30 for work so he uses her as his alarm clock

eandh · 25/01/2008 14:17

oh and I am at work typing in a minimised box so excuse typing (not that it is ever that good )

Lizzzombie · 25/01/2008 14:37

He has a cot bed, and the bed bit is as low is it goes. So the next stage would be to take the sides off to make it into an actual bed.
It could be the sides freaking him out and making him not sleep, possibly. But he would be out of bed like a shot, pulling books off the shelf and toys out as soon as my back was turned.
I think its just teething (again!). His top front teeth buds (?) are really swollen. So he won't be my little vampire for much longer!

Lizzzombie · 25/01/2008 14:40

btw - thanks for the heads up on PT jobs at your company EAH. However, as much as that is totally the kind of job I want, Brighton is too far for me. The earliest I can drop DJ off at nursery is at 8.30am which means I wouldnt get to Brighton till about 10am at the absolute earliest. Same on the way home, if I left Brighton at 5pm (from a job) then the earliest I would get back to Eastbourne would be just before 7pm. Very annoying. So, have to look harder for a local position like that. Eastbourne, Hastings and surrounding suburbs.

eandh · 25/01/2008 15:01

No problem Lizz we do have an agency in eastbourne (i think??) that operates like a mini branch inside another building (normally estate agents) so I'll keep my ears open for you

2happy · 25/01/2008 15:09

UD so sorry to hear about your problems. I really hope it's stuff you can both work through. I remember your mum posting on the AN thread - hope she's giving you lots of TLC x
ds2 in size 4s also, and hope you have a great weekend with your dh Susie
Wilkie - hope the viewing goes ok
PCF hope Max's head's ok!!

Ohh - yes please!
I have tons of admin & customer service experience, really neat handwriting, am great at making tea and coffee and have a very professional telephone manner!

  • who do you actually work for?
laughalot · 25/01/2008 15:19

Its funny actually lizz because we thought aidan would be out of his bed up to naughty things but he never did he is just making up for it now . You can still buy a bed guard which fits in the middle so he dosent fall out .

eandh · 25/01/2008 15:26

See bedguard on my profile pics (the one of hattie asleep!)

I work for Bradford & Bingley, pmsl at the neat handwriting I hardly write anything, when I worked on the counter I signed cheques and intialed peoples account passbooks and that was about it. These day all I seem to do is email and collate spreadsheets and file bits of paper away (perfect job for ocd tidy person like me) although just realised I have done 3 different spreadsheets with exactly the same information in different formats all to be sent to different people, bit of a waste of time really oh well never mind I get to MN a bit more at work these days

2happy · 25/01/2008 17:06

ps I hope you are all having your haggis tonight!

bunnyhunny · 25/01/2008 17:14

ud - hope you can sort things out with your dp. me and dh nearly split up recently - I had researched all the benefits I can get, and knew I could go to mums. But we sat down and talked for hours about it. Now we are going to have a monthly 'review' to keep ourselves on track. good luck.

Lizz - we have the same problem - try frozen mixed veg, jacket potatoes, pasta with sauce, roast dinner, chips of all sorts, large chunks of fruit. I found it very hard at first, but actually, you can just give him what you eat - all foods are finger foods, even mashed potato!
(oh, except cous cous) I think it tries about 3 goes until they actually like something iyswim, so you need to persevere. The good thing is that S ia feeding himself tea, and I am on here

had a friend over today, and her lo is 1 this weekend. she has really kindly offered to make all of the food allergy free What a lovely person!

And as for nappies, S uses 4 or 4+ (but we use reusables mostly). You will probably only need 1 pack for 4 days.

Reggiee · 25/01/2008 18:17

Aww UD ((hugs)). Hope you're ok. My relationship with DH has defnitely changed since we had the lo. It is hard, but am sure you will work through it. As KAt and Carrot say, it has been one helluva year.

EAH did you get your hair cut?

Kat ...ohhh a weekend away!! Sounds good. Is he the sort of bloke who would want a 40th birthday like most of my male friends (drink from 9am - 3am, then repeat), or like most of my female friends (fresh air by the seaside, chat, relax over a gentle paced bottle or two of wine)

Wilkie how was the estate agent visit? Is your house messed up yet?

Lizz you poor thing. Sorry, no advice, only sympathy. And tea. And a slice of cake with that (better now?)

Happy Burns 2H!!

Bunny glad things are working out ok with your dh

So, Kat and 2H. Have booked a week in Seahouses in June. Is it near you?

OMG!!

Yay!!! Is quite near, RGee. My bf at school lived there. About 30 mins away. Is on a beautiful stretch of coastline. Totally recommend Bamburgh beach, really pretty but it does get busy in summer time. Will reveal a secret to you, you honoured person, the best beach (assuming the weather's ok!) is Cheswick, a little pootle North of Seahouses. It's got enormous dunes, and is far quieter than Bamburgh. About 5 min walk from the car is the only downside, but it is gorgeous - a stretch of golden sand which you could follow all the way to Holy Island. There's soft play in both Berwick to the north and Alnwick to the south. Alnwick Castle Gardens is worth a visit but it's a bit pricey to get in. Bring swimwear for lo, kids love playing in all the water features. They filmed a lot of Harry Potter 1 at the castle. I'm sure Alnwick would be a handy place for Kw3 if you fancied a meet - though you're on holiday so no pressure!! Of course, if you wanted to visit the ancient battlefield site of Flodden Field (where the Scots got gubbed again sigh) I would force you to come in and have a cuppa at the least

Must stop sounding quite so stalkerish.... Just jealous of all you southerners meeting up all the time

Nightmare evening - got to pak and ride car park and I had left lights on so battery flat, phoned MIL who sounded very stresses (kids were tired wanted me) phoned AA who said they'd be 70minutes, I cried they said they'd be there within 40minutes phoned DH he was still at work so couldnt get them, my brother went to pick them up and take them back to theirs (they live estate opposite ours) except I had the car seats and he only had nephews one so couldnt get them (I though IL's had spare booster in garage, well they did have it for neice/nephew but didnt keep it for ours not that surprised but a bit peeved off that in an emergency we'd have to sort seats, my parents have seats for both of ours in their car)
AA man arrived fixed it in 5 minutes and on my way.

Means we didnt get home till 7pm (Hattie asleep on way home) Ellie just gone to bed so either they'l lay in or be grumpy tomorrow, and I need to do food shopping so am hoping they'll lay in.

Rgee - didnt get my hair cut was on a mission to find Prince Eric doll for Ellie (all her princesses kiss each other so they need a prince and my Great Uncle gave them vouchers for xmas) anyway couldnt get Eric anwhere so copromised on a Barbie set that had a prince in it she was when I gave it to her (although was £15 just seen on toys r us they have prince dolls for £6!)
Got Hattie the soft tombliboos from ITNG from argos and makka pakka so she has the whole set now (I can ac out her story books with the toys now )

Think I may book hair cut for Monday but then I keep debating whether to go for mid length layered, choppy look or grow it again...........decisions decisions

eandh · 25/01/2008 19:50
