Sorry to hear about your MIL Fury.

Is there anyway you could both go? Airmiles? Presumably you have accommodation, and flights will be relatively cheap as it will be the start of their winter? Where abouts is she?

HellHathNoFury · 17/01/2008 13:37

I could go but it would be very expensive as I am paid a daily rate, plus we'd have to kennel the dog etc.

I have said I will go if he doesn't mind waiting a year or so.
That's what we are going to decide tonight.

HellHathNoFury · 17/01/2008 13:39

no accomodation, they live in a flat, flights would be £1700 for all of us. Just used airmiles for our anniversary holiday as we had already decided not to go to Aus this year.

They live in Queensland.

It IS doable for me to go, but complicated and expensive.

Oh fury, that'll be tough being away from them both for 2 weeks, and so far away. Poor DS will miss you too. My mum's parents both died in their early 50's. I'm hoping it's because of their reluctance to go to the dr's than a genetic thing

In answer to Norty earlier, my Undergrad degree is in Psychology and my masters is Research and Cognitive Neuroscience. If I wanted to be a psychologist (which I don't) I would have to do further training, or I could have gone into academia. Instead I work for the civil service and because I have a job where I can't discuss what I do it makes it v difficult to find a new one! I think one day though I might train to be a yoga teacher!

HellHathNoFury · 17/01/2008 13:44

Anyway, enough maudlin...
I need to decide if I can have a cup of tea or a banana with what's left of my WW points.
I am thinking a cup of tea.

foxythesnowman · 17/01/2008 13:45

Fury, could you consider a house-swap? Saves heaps of money and is great for children.

HellHathNoFury · 17/01/2008 13:49

ooh I have thought of that but I'd be scared!!
I am such a control freak!

Argh meeting now

How many calories in a cup of tea fgs?

Sorry to hear about your MIL Fury

We went to Canada for several months when I was a kid and we house-swapped, it was great. Craig's list is a good place for house swaps, if you didn't know already.

foxythesnowman · 17/01/2008 13:56

Tis fine fury.
You can always do what our swapees did and leave things messy, or do as i did and spent the final day cleaning and washing so their place was immaculate.

geenee.com is a good place to start

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 17/01/2008 13:57

of fury what a pita
you can have the cup of tea and the banana as the tea cannot contain many points unless you have 5 sugars and half a pint of milk in it

HellHathNoFury · 17/01/2008 13:57

I will look at Craigs list, sounds interesting.

A banana is 1.5 points, a cup of tea (for me) is 1 point as I have 1 sugar and milk.

I have 1.5 points left for the day!

Hey look if it makes me slim I will do as it says

Ok, important question for you all.......

Can I be arsed to go to the supermarket?

LittleMissNorty · 17/01/2008 14:05

Blimey Bumper ....sounds interesting. Mind you civil service is good...non-contrib pension....don't get that in NHS....is there opportunity for progression where you are?

can't you have sweetners in your tea Fury? I've weaned DH off sugar in his tea without him knowing really....and when someone puts a whole spoonful of sugar in he gags and says its too sweet

I have 3 sweetners in coffee ...god if that was all sugar, I'd be twice as fat as I am now.

LittleMissNorty · 17/01/2008 14:06

Have you got enough food in for dinner?

Yes...sod it don't bother

No....sod it, don't bother and get a take-away...its nearly the weekend

foxythesnowman · 17/01/2008 14:10

Try Fructose instead of sugar, tis less calorific I believe.

I don't really know, but I'm making that Ch4 Lemon Cake again and am convinced it is very skinny indeed.

Nah, Sputnik. Stay on here and chat.

sputnik · 17/01/2008 14:12

You've nearly convinced me LMN.

Food wise I think I can wing it. The toilet-roll situation is nearing critical however, but we should be ok barring major illness.

sputnik · 17/01/2008 14:15

I wouldn't mind but I have both DCs here today.

LittleMissNorty · 17/01/2008 14:15

ration them all to 2 sheets . I nag DH all the time about the amount of loo roll he uses

If the weather there is anything like the weather here, you wouldn't bother!

God, I've got to go and make a cup of tea now.....all this talk about tea

sputnik · 17/01/2008 14:21

Yeah it's raining here too, on and off. We're alright for kitchen roll, if the worst comes to the worst.

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 17/01/2008 14:30

or babywipes
