Sparkly- DD isn't sitting yet but shes not too far away. I think they only sit at 6+months?? Hope your not feeling too bad about the ff. Your've done so well to get him to the little heiffer that he is . DD has days when she pulls off and cries and its really horrible so I know how you feel. Have you heard any more about DS1s op and your arrangements for it?

RG- I want to lose some weight too but spend my days thinking of the next meal. I'm such a piglet. But I must do something or I'll just get slowly bigger. .

sarahloumadam · 12/04/2008 08:05

My DS is nearly sitting but then he has been "nearly" rolling for about 3 months now LOL, he will get there in his own sweet time I guess. What he is doing is waking up at 5.30 every morning and cooing very sweetly until you feel compelled to go and pick him up.

SGK - saw your thread about feeding, is Callum feeding any better yet? Hope it is just a phase, exhausting and stressful for you both.

Went to Jack in the Box activity session yesterday and Adam loved it! He smiled and cooed and generally charmed the pants off everyone until it was time to go when he screamed his head off because he was tired.

No idea what we are doing this weekend, DH is having a lie-in so must be my turn tomorrow. Must go as feeling very guilty, Adam lying gazing at me.

RG- weaning is a pain... especially trying to fit it into hectic days. Wish i'd never been advised to start. Its not making much difference to sleeping. And after food ds always wants a feed to follow so feeding more not less. Rubbish.

sarah- ds has nearly been nearly rolling for ages now. he's a strong sitter on my lap but not on his own. I've started putting him on his tummy every day and he loves it! he pushes up on his arms and looks around. He also try to lift his bum, like he wants to crawl! Don't think the crawling will happen for a long while. Longer the better, he'll be a little rascal when he can move!

Sparkly- don't worry about the formula, If you need a break you need a break. You have 4 children and a dh to look after. You need to also make sure you're looking after yourself too! Less stressed mum = less stressed Callum and fussy feeding will probably ease up soon.

Febes- Good luck with selling the house, glad you're in a position where you don't have to take cheaky low offers!

Coby has become a distracted feeder, he'll look around the room if people are talking or there's other noise. It's awful when we're out. I really struggle to get him to focus on the job in hand!

Had a lovely day shopping today got some gorgeous shoes and 3 dresses (but taking two back) I'm going to an old friends birthday in a few weeks. Can't wait to glam up!

Hope you have a lovely weekend all.

RGPargy · 12/04/2008 20:37

Sparkly - nowhere near sitting yet. My friend's daughter tho is a week older than Ellie and is so rigid and strong that she is very almost sitting on her own! I think it's very rare tho.

Febes - I'm the same re thinking of the next meal lol. I think i'm going to join Weight Witches. One of my Wednesday mums already goes and another said she will join with me so we can go together, which will be a great help.

Sarah - what's a Jack in the Box activity session?? Very of your pending lie in tomorrow. I'm not allowed one tomorrow because DP worked today and so therefore tomorrow is HIS lie in day. I suppose that's fair, seeing as he's been getting up at 5am every day this week (but i wont mention me getting up twice a night every night for the past week too ).

Loopy - sorry i think i should have worded my question better. Of course you're not going to let DD get hysterical in the cot. Sorry!

Well, i did it - i gave Ellie a bit of pear puree. It was only about a teaspoon, if that, but her face was a picture as she pulled all sorts of expressions at the taste and texture. Wont be doing it all the time and probably wont give her food again until she's six months but i'm afraid curiousity got the better of me...

DP has gone off to the pub so i'm at home watching Britain's Got Talent and then i'm going to watch Pushing Daisies at 9pm too.

Have a good night everyone!

LMB - x-posted! I'm not going down the weaning route just yet

OP posts:
SparklyGothKat · 12/04/2008 23:29

thank god i stayed with you guys, imagine if i had joined the sept group, i would be so worried!! lol

RGPargy · 12/04/2008 23:34

Why? what have they said?

OP posts:
SparklyGothKat · 12/04/2008 23:48

remember I said that I should join the sept group, and leave you guys and you all said to stay? So I did, and thank god I did, I would be so worried about Callum if I had joined them, because they will all be sitting, and rolling etc. Of course Callum is at the same level devolpment as your LOs so I feel fine here..

RGPargy · 12/04/2008 23:56

ah right, yes i remember and you were right to stay! Sounds like Callum is developing in his adjusted age.

OP posts:
jetgirl · 13/04/2008 09:29

sparkly - we're glad you stayed too

rg - don't you just love the expressions they pull when they try food. Last year DD was desperate to try an olive, her face was so funny!
It was COD4 that DH was playing - not a surprise!

sarah - William has rolled once, but not any more and that was a fortnight ago. he is really trying to sit by himself now. We have a sort of giant inflatable ring that we put him in and he sits in that quite nicely. I think it gives him confidence to try sitting independently as when he falls back he just falls gently onto the ring and then tries to sit back up.

LMB - you can buy plastic mats to put on the floor under the highchair, as long as you keep it clean you can use the food baby drops on it and you'll waste less.

Went to visit my friend with her newborn yesterday - such a cute baby, I had a lovely cuddle. Even though she weighed 9lbs at birth she seemed so tiny next to William. I took them a shepherd's pie, my friend's DH looked a bit perplexed, I think he was used to receiving flowers, but when I asked him when they last had a proper homecooked meal he said, 'good point'.

My DH has been very good about washing up and things recently - long may it continue!

Jet - what a lovely idea, I wish someone had brought me a pie when I got out of hospital! We were running around making cups of tea for everyone that came to visit (or rather DH was, I was sat feeding you know who). Seems so long ago doesn't it?

RG - Ikwym re being tempted to feed DC food, I can't wait to get started but at the same time I am happy to wait if that makes sense because it is less faff to just shove a boob in their general direction especially as DS is such an expert now and can vacuum my nipple from 4ft away . Jack in the Box is like an activity session with some free play, some songs and a little circuit on all the bigger play equipment. Adam has just started grabbing for things and so he was in his element having a good old grope of lots of different toys and getting loads of attention from the girls that run it.

Sparkly - how's Callum getting on with his feeding? You are definately a November girl, wouldn't be the same without you!

LMB re the new frocks and night out, I keep trying to update my wardrobe but Adam doesn't like clothes shops . Adam is also a distracted feeder which is such a pain when you are out and about. I am much more confident feeding in public now but what I have found is that as soon I take Adam out of his pram everyone goes "ahhh" and turns around to look just when I am trying to discretely latch him on! Or like Coby he becomes distracted by something and nearly breaks his neck trying to have a good neb leaving my nork exposed in the process.

Well Adam has been full of it today but gorgeously so. Still cries when he sees the MIL which is a bit eek as she is meant to be looking after him from August. Must go now as I can hear him wittering, Daddy meant to be entertaining him, he must be hungry.

Pixiefish · 13/04/2008 17:29

found you all again.

LittleMissBliss · 13/04/2008 19:46

Jet- we have a plastic mat, its more that i cook sticks of food or give him rusks or banana. But only a tiny bit gets eaten and i can't really face keeping manky soggy bits of food to try and re-feed them to him latter. So i end up chucking away allot. I'm finding it hard as i come from a family where we were made to clear our plates at dinner and never wasted food. But I suppose i'll have to just get used to it, especially as he gets older. Glad your Dh got the subtle hint. And great idea with the pie, so much more tasty than flowers!

pixie- hi!

Sarah- Boy did i pay for the shopping trip last night... because he slept most of the day in his push chair he was so restless last night, waking every hour instead of two. So i spent most of the night stroking his head or hand between feeds to try and coax him to sleep. (still worth it for the shoes!)

Dp got a huge new telly today which i was so against as our old telly was fine, now i love it! So going to drink lots of tea and watch rubbish in style.

sarahloumadam · 13/04/2008 20:26

Great shoes LMB!! Very cheeky.

Evening everyone!

Two of my work mates came to visit me today, which was really really nice. It meant we weren't restricted to lunch breaks or time restrictions for trains home etc. I put us all of our misery tho and made sure i had a couple of expressed bottles for DD. I didn't want any embarrassment during their visit, although i dont know who would have been more embarrassed - me or them! DD was very well behaved and guzzled 4oz of EBM without once coming up for air! She's obviously moved on from the 3oz i thought she was still taking. Clever girl!

Jet - i'm not surprised re the COD4 issues! That bloody game can make my eyes go boggly if i play it too much! Brilliant idea re the Shepherd's Pie. What a lovely touch.

Sarah - lol re suction-boob! The play thing sounds fun! I have again given DD some pear puree tonight and this time she actually seemed to enjoy it and was literally leaning right forward to get to the spoon lol. She only had about 3 teaspoons worth. Think i might leave it at that for now tho.

LMB - FAB shoes!! I know what you mean about big tellies. DP was insistent on getting a 40 or 42 inch tv and now we have one. I cant remember which size it is, but it's blardy hooooge!

OP posts:
littleoldme · 13/04/2008 22:36

LMB - Funky shoes lady. They look fab

Rg- Glad you have a good day. Ellie getting to be a right guzzler isn'e she.

Sarah - Wonderful pics of Adam; he's a most handsome chap.

Loopy- I'm going to do puree weaning too. I'm too lazy to BLW.

Jet - Great idea re the pie. My mate brought me some food when T was small. She left it on the doorstep and texted me to let me know it was there incase I was asleep.

Our freinds are coming to stay on Weds. They life in Japan - it's an old school mate of Dh's and his Japanese wife. When we satued with them they were amazingly hospitable , as is the culture and everything was V clean and tidy. So this week is going to spent mostly scubbing the house and mucking out the spare room so I don;t cause an internationl incident.

Went to work on Friday; T was an absolute charmer. Got a very pushy letter from our Head. She's implying that unless I go back early - our new timetable starts in June - she can't guarentee I'll get the days I've asked for. Grrrrr I've decide I'm going to respond by shoving some prawns down the back of the heater in her office over the holidays.

Right time for bed.

LOM - what a cowbag, i'm sure T could help you out with some kind of stink-bomb!

Febes · 14/04/2008 11:43

Morning everyone!
Not much to report here.
LOM - What a mare! Are you going back full time? In my experience noone makes it any easier to return to work. I think parents should be given more understanding. Can't afford to not work- can't balance life and work. Makes me .

I've been reading all the info regarding puree vs BLW. can you do a bit of both. I want DD to be an independent eater but want to feed her purees as well. Don't really know enough about it. Your knowledge would be appreciated.

RGPargy · 14/04/2008 12:01

I was just thinking the same think re purees and BLW Febes. I'm sure you could do both!

OP posts:
ChocolateHobnob · 14/04/2008 12:27

Has Ellie had more pear yet, RG?

I agree re the BLW and purees- why not do both together?

LOM, how are you getting on with winding down bf? is DS taking the bottle?

DD now 5 months... so we'll soon be at that stage... how time flies!!!

Loopy, with you on the (lack of) sleep...

Hi Pixie!

LMB, LOVE the shoes!

Sarah, Adam is gorgeous... and doesnt look that big!

Hugs to all from the rain here...

RGPargy · 14/04/2008 13:00

Hi Choc

Ellie had more pear last night and was more or less launching herself onto the spoon when i held it near her mouth lol. I think some of the faces she was pulling was due to the feeling of the rubbish-type spoon touching her gums and squeaking! It was making my teeth go on edge too, let alone her poor gums! lol

Sarah - Adam is gorgeous!

Hello Pixie!

Off for a walk round the park in a bit with my friend. Have a nice afternoon all!!
