Runny, love your first letter!!

Second letter will probably get you better references tho !

Wow tcmummy, a healthy weight indeed. Poor K is tiny. Not helped by being off her food for a week over Christmas. Think she is only about 16 pounds and a few ounces

Hi Captain Dyson!!!

POTC, great news about being able to change your hours. They sounds like fab employers.

Hope everyone is ok this evening. xx

NorthernLurker · 04/01/2008 19:15

SOL don't be about the weight - that sounds fine to me and is only a little less than B - I'm so intrigued to see B and dd1 are such similar sizes - just shows nine years age gap - and this is obviously the size of baby I have. K is lovely and you are doing really, really well

Maveta · 04/01/2008 19:18

Evening all,

glad you´ve reached a decision you´re happy with runny
oooggs hope you´ve spoken to the nurse, that doesn´t sound nice xx
Ellie - have fun tonight
SPB and GMM - sorry you´re finding it hard. I know I´ve found each new stage difficult to get used to so I guess them becoming mobile is no different.. just when you think you´re starting to crack it, it goes and gets harder! Thankfully we´re not quite there yet, N can roll all over the shop but it´s nowhere near as fast as i imagine crawling is. Though I might start babyproofing in preparation.

Well N was knackered tonight, had no afternoon nap and dh gave him his tea an hour late at 5pm so I only just managed to get a milk feed into him before he collapsed from exhaustion so he´s had no cereal.. will be interesting to see if he wakes up..

Had a very upsetting convo with my boss today. She has just had twins (10weeks) and has a maternity nurse. She chose to bottle feed from the start and was going on about how clueless her friend was re. her 6 week old. Said the baby was in ´no routine whatsoever´ and was attached to her mother´s breast for 20 out of 24 hours and the baby was obviously ´starving´ (because the mother obviously has no milk in her breasts) and she finally convinced the poor woman, who was in tears by this point (who´s ´d´h was also apparently shouting at her that he can´t stand the noise of ´it´ crying) to give her baby some formula to get it to go to sleep.

CaptainDyson · 04/01/2008 19:18

P is a lard - think she must be pushing 21lbs - DD2, at the same age, was 14lb 6 oz - so don't stress yourself, SOL xx

Off to Book Group in a min, need to give car a quick spit and polish before returning it .....

Great letter, runny - Describe the "Den"!!

Maveta · 04/01/2008 19:20

sorry that might read wrong, it´s not because the baby drank formula, it´s because it summed up all the bad advice and lack of support that so many breastfeeding mothers seem to be subjected to and made me feel really bad for the poor woman that just because she had no one to help her out (i.e. PAID help) and give her advice she was obviously in exhausted tears.

And very [cross] at my boss for being so judgemental and opinionated about such a very personal subject.

CaptainDyson · 04/01/2008 19:21

Mav - & @ your Boss - I am speechless. Hope N doesn't wake up for you hoey. xx

CaptainDyson · 04/01/2008 19:21

honey, even.

Maveta · 04/01/2008 19:21

lol at [cross]

That is so sad Maveta. I remember when I had dd1 nobody told me that babies feed and feed to get the supply going - that I should basically relax and feed and that was it. Fortunately we muddled through ok.

Maveta · 04/01/2008 19:24

Although ´hoey´ is almost as good..

is that as in ´gooey´ or as in ho´-y? I ain´t no ho, beeyatch!

Maveta · 04/01/2008 19:27

I know, NL, it just made me think of all I went through to get bf established and how hard it was and how important it was that people help and support you, not make you panic that your baby is starving to death . It´s such an emotional time and my boss is in a very privileged position to have someone to help them out and also they are bottle feeding which wasn´t an emotional choice for her* so she has no idea how that woman feels.

  • by that I mean for her it was always a clearcut decision that she would not breastfeed, she just never planned to.
CaptainDyson · 04/01/2008 19:28

PMSL

Are you / have you BF B, NL??

runnyhabbit · 04/01/2008 19:35

Well the den consisted of a throw, thrown over 3 dining room chairs, in the middle of the room, with pegs and goodness knows what else holding it all together

runnyhabbit · 04/01/2008 19:35

at your boss' attitude

runnyhabbit · 04/01/2008 19:36

missed out the attitude at the end

NorthernLurker · 04/01/2008 19:37

yep still breastfeeding here - now up to a total of 30 months over 3 children don't want to know how many breast pads that is! Have actually just managed to do without them - hurray!

CaptainDyson · 04/01/2008 19:38

Right, off out, "see's" ya's beee-yatch's laterz ......

CaptainDyson · 04/01/2008 19:39

Well Done, NL! xx

runnyhabbit · 04/01/2008 19:40

Have decided on a new philosophy for 2008 and beyond..

"Unless its useful, or I love it, I don't want it in my life"

Have found this can apply to clothes (new susannah & trinny book is fab), books and mil
Although when I told dh my new philosophy, he asked if he should start packing, lol

fpesha · 04/01/2008 19:40

I remember when I'd just come from hospital with dd mil rang up and was telling dh how I should feed her 5 mins on one side then 5 on the other and should do that once every couple hours. DD had been feeding for about 3 hours straight and I just thought wtf?! There was no way that was gonna happen! Luckily when she was down the following wkend the mw came round and she explained demand feeding to her, I dont think mil would have listened to me. She acted like i was a fruit loop when I said I didnt want her to have bread before 6 months and when I explained that my grandma had coeliacs disease she disputed that it was hereditary. SOOOOOO glad to be shot of her!!!

SPB - when can you leave them on their own - dd was ok for abit from about 1yo, she was amazingly easy. DS1 was ok for abit from about 4 yo There was no such thing as a baby proof room for him! But I did have a stair gate on the lounge for a while so I could contain his chaos to one room, I was single at the time and was just impossible to be with him all the time.

Runny lol at your first resignation letter!

Have no idea what d weighs anymore, prob about 17lb? Will try and remember to get him weighed monday.

NorthernLurker · 04/01/2008 19:45

Love the philosophy Runny - and dh's reaction

tcmummy · 04/01/2008 19:58

oooh, can't wait for the den making stage!!

and for that poor mummy Maveta. It's just sad how harsh some people can be.

enjoy bookclub dyson!

SOL - I'm sure K is fine. You're quite petite aren't you? I'm sure that makes a huge difference. (Not sure how I think that, maybe someone said that before???).

tcmummy · 04/01/2008 20:02

Oh, and, and at 30 months bf NL!!! Wowee. You've done really well. I'm still enjoying feeding T, love the milky smiles he gives when I make him laugh!

NorthernLurker · 04/01/2008 20:08

yes that's the thing tcmummy - once you get into it you can just keep going.I fed both older girls for around 11mths each - dd1 self weaned - finally gave up on my birthday [sob], dd2 - had been cutting down and cutting down - then one night I had a terrible headache and went to bed early - she managed without a feed and I took that as a sign it was time to stop. I expect to feed B up to a year but will happily go on after that if it seems what she wants
