Hi everyone,

My laptop is really playing up and no sooner have I repaired it it's knackered again so sorry I keep disappearing as would love to be on here more.

Have to read these posts before the battery goes!! (can't plug it back in then)

I've got really fed up being overweight (although have lost pregnancy weight) so have joined weightwatchers on-line (probably not the best option if I can't get on-line properly )

Nothing really to report with lo, 1st b-day looming and only just sorted out a party for her but I've found a dairy-free chocolate cake for her to spread around her face

We're having a party on sunday for her even though her birthday isn't until tuesday and I've then had the day off but don't know what to do with her as she sleeps all pm! Dh went mad she wasn't going to nursery as we're paying for it (typical yorkshireman)

I'm getting quite emotional about her 1st b-day as well as I don't think I'll be having anymore. I even said to dh I'd consider adopting! But work not going so well so feel fed up in most areas of my life.

Right, must get reading and somehow hijack dh's laptop to get on here

Nemoandthefishes · 10/01/2008 07:25

dragonhart I have very similair age gaps to what you will have and its easy Seriously though its not half as bad as your stress levels expect it to be..its a year on and I am still sane [only slightly mind]. Ds was 3.2yrs when chloe was born and dd1 was 12mths.

Lizzzombie · 10/01/2008 08:02

Morning!
Just have to brag...DJ has slept through from 8pm (put down at 7pm but screams for an hour ) until 6.30am for the last two nights!!!! Apart from my weakend mother bladder waking me up at 3.41am each night - I have had full nights sleep!
I am so happy!

  • he hasn't slept through for about 3 months!
Dragonhart · 10/01/2008 10:59

Yeah DJ!

Can I just ask everyone about sleep. What naps are everyone's los having now? Ruth wont have a nap in the morning (she just screams if I try to put her down) and if I put her down in the afternoon, she talkes an hour to get to sleep at night as she is just not tired enough. Yesterday I didnt put her down for a nap and she went down like a dream. She managed fine through the day.

She sleeps about 13 hours at night so if she only has dozes if we go out in the car or for a walk is that really bad? I was reading in the Toxic Childhood book how important naps are for learning and I just wondered what other los were doing.

Nemo- I rem the start of the thread when I was worried about getting preg when Luke was 8 months and your dd was 3 months! Seems ages ago now and I am a mixture of excited and scared shitless.

EAH- Glad Ruth will be walking by the time I have this one!

I keep talking as if I am 8 months preg. I suppose I should realise that I am not very far gone and stop counting my chickens really! Its just we havent really told anyone in RL except parents and dsis so it is nice to talk about it.

Dragonhart · 10/01/2008 11:17

Ment to say last night that I got a pair of Togz waterproof dungerees from Blooming Marvellous for Luke for 6.99 minus a 10% discount we get for being MN members (reduced from twenty something I think). I got the next few sizes as they are navy so will be fine for Ruth too. They have loads of bargains in the sale bit. Summer stuff too. I spent lots

Lizz- just a quick bra question: is 36E about the same size as 34F? Or does it not work like that?

MrsCarrot · 10/01/2008 11:21

Dragon - F sleeps for around 2 hours if we are at home, usually 11-1 or 12-2 depending on when he woke up. If we are out he dozes in the pram for less than an hour but that isn't enough for the day and he tries to sleep late in the afternoon which is a nightmare. I have begun to enjoy this nap so I try and work my day around it, something I never bothered with the older two. Must be getting old!

He does cry when I put him down but not for long, in fact, 20 mins ago, he was yawning, rubbing his eyes etc. I put him in his cot and he let out the most almighty scream like a cat and then was asleep before I got down the stairs.

Dragonhart · 10/01/2008 11:28

If I put Ruth down for a sleep int he morning she screams until I get her up. Have tried for an hour but it is difficult when I have Luke downstairs. Luke always had a 2 hour nap at about 11 when he was smaller which I loved!

How long does F sleep in 24hrs do you think?

Lizzzombie · 10/01/2008 11:31

Dragonhart - Yes 36 E = 34 F (same in cup but tighter in the back)

DJ has just had a 2 hour nap (took alot of tiered baby screaming to get him to sleep) - and I totally passed out too. Weird. Think all this sleep is making me more tiered! I have never done that before!
Normally he has an hour in the morning 9-10am and 1.5 - maybe 2 hours in the afternoon about 1.30 - 3pm something like that.

I've just put the "in hte Night Garden" cd on the stereo and he is sat on the floor staring at the speakers, looking a bit confused! Its really funny!

ladytophamhatt · 10/01/2008 11:33

Morning ladies, I got a text from UD this morning, she's having MN withdrawals and told me she now has a toddler..

Zac is walking....

I wish I could turn back the clock, I want my baby to stay a baby forever.

Lizzzombie · 10/01/2008 11:34

lth - help www.mumsnet.com/Talk/1375/453753?stamp=080110113000 I need your advice please, I have no idea how to do this!

MrsCarrot · 10/01/2008 11:34

Um, not sure, he goes down between 7pm and 8pm usually and is mostly up by 7am, and he has always woken earlier than that for milk. If she has slept a solid 13 hours maybe she doesn't need the big sleep.

Actually I remember being horrified with dd when she gave up her daytime nap very young, as ds1 had always slept for ages in the day till he was about 3 or 4. Some children just sleep less.

If he was still awake after 5 or 10 mins of outting him down in the day I would assume he wasn't tired and get him up. It's only in the last couple of months that he's done this anyway, he used to fall asleep after feeding but I try to get him to settle himself now as it helps at night.

eandh · 10/01/2008 12:23

hattie is up by 6.30 the latest and normally has a sleep around 8ish for about 45m ins to an hour then she has around 1-1.5hours around 1pm (although she has fallen asleep today on the way home from preschool but I think she is making up some of the sleep she missed when she was poorly) she goes to bed between 6 and 6.30pm, I think we may be edging towards dropping one of the sleeps as she doesnt have 2 every day.

Ellie was the same with naps and bedtimes and she went to having a late morning sleep (around 11-11.30 for 1-1.5hours) when she was 14months then she dropped naps altogether just before she was 2 (she was a nightamre to put to bed if she had napped)I can remember being pg and it was freezing and I'd have to wrap her up and take her for a walk in the afternoon to keep her awake.

We need to change hatties cot into the bed she is trying to launch herself over the top and keeps getting her feet stuck between the bars, I have got Ellies bedguard down from the loft and bought a ingle size duvet this morning (thought I could tuck the extra bits down the side) I cant believe she isnt a baby anymore (and am waiting to see how long it is before she discovers the getting out of the bed game, ellie went into a proper bed at 14months and it took her a month to work it out)

Shimmer · 10/01/2008 13:10

DH Freddie (usually) sleeps about 12-13 hours through the night as well and just has one nap of about 1.5 hrs from around 1-2:30pm. He doesn't get up til about 8:30/9am though... i never did get used to early mornings!

I'm very protective about his nap time these days as I love my hour and half peace and quiet at home on my own to have some lunch, watch telly and generally lounge around. I force myself not to do any housework and just relax for this time

JodieG1 · 10/01/2008 13:11

Sorry again everyone for not being around, I've been feeling quite depressed lately but tried to put a brave face on things, hasn't really worked though. Happy birthday all the lo's I've missed, can't believe Ethan is 1 tomorrow.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/1375/453862?stamp=080110130645 explains a little more. Sigh, I'm so fed up

Lizzzombie · 10/01/2008 15:43

RGEE - Just noticed its your birthday on Saturday!
What are you up to? How are you celebrating?
Hope you have a fab time! x

Wilkie · 10/01/2008 15:52

DH - just quickly cos am at work. J sleeps from 6.30pm-7am (12.5hrs), then prob two naps totalling 2-3 hours during the day. One about 9am and 1 about 2pm.

HTH!

Lizzzombie · 10/01/2008 16:05

6.30pm-7am?!?! you lucky thing! Do you drug him?!

JodieG1 · 10/01/2008 16:10

Ethan is still as bad as ever at sleeping, sigh, I don't think he'll ever sleep through. Bedtime is usually 7-7.30ish sometimes later sometimes a little earlier and then he's up every hour to an hour and a half to feed. This continues until I go up when he'll wake 4-5 times in the night for milk too. He's up at about 6am. Sometimes he'll wake up and stay awake for an hour or two as well. I feel dreadful now after a year of it, don't know what I can do though.

JodieG1 · 10/01/2008 16:10

Oh and doesn't really nap much anymore, 45 mins if I'm lucky and then that's only if he's being held.

Jodie you poor love, you must be at the end of your tether.
I am assuming you have tried all kinds of things for helping him sleep.

I reckon the only reason that DJ has slept through the past two nights is because he has got his appetite back and I just keep feeding and feeding him until he starts to refuse it.

Prior to that, once he had eaten what I had prepared that was it, bedtime, and I was up 3 times in the night every night, and I'm pretty sure he was hungry. Not that he got anything from us.

Am having huge problems with BLW. Most of it ends up on the floor. Unless its marmite sandwiches or sausages. Am combining finger food with mushy stuff to make sure he gets some good bits inside him, but he can tell when I've spread brocolli mush on his toast mixed with marmite, instead of just marmite! its really frustrating!

MrsCarrot · 10/01/2008 17:49

Jodie - that sounds awful, can you try to put him to bed awake? All babies wake frequently but will need you to settle him if that's all he knows. I expect you know that though. I know you don't want him to cry but maybe you'll have to weigh that up with feeling depressed and exhaused all the time and the impact that has on him. Hope you can find a way that works for you soon.

bunnyhunny · 10/01/2008 17:58

sorry you are sad Jodie - I am local, so do you want to meet up to cheer you up? (you don't have to, I won't be offended ) Btw I think your friend is being very nasty about the whole thing - i can't believe she reacted like this as a result of you not going round cos your lo's were poorly

canmummy - laptops breaking is so annoying! mine is on the way out, got a replacement from work, and it doesnt bloody work!

wilkie - S is on the same routine as J! he goes to bed 7pm - 7am (it was until 9am sometimes in the holidays!! ). I think he is so active it knackers him out. I can't believe, after those MONTHS of him not sleeping unless held / rocked / in a car or buggy and waking every couple of hours that now he is actually a good sleeper! phew! I must say we used a teensy bit of cc to achieve this though.

how are all the lo's talking? I am a bit concerned as S says 'ka' for everything, except more, woof, quack, dada and mama. Do your lo's do this too?

so no-one has a spare monkey then?

Lizzzombie · 10/01/2008 18:04

Bunny - your Lo is a child genius compared to mine in the speech dept. We get mamamamamama and dadadadadadada and SSSss. Thats it.
He chatters away in his own little language sometimes though. Its freaky sounding!
He's very good at waving though.

bunnyhunny · 10/01/2008 18:06

s doesnt seem to really babble much, just seems to say 'ka' and the words he knows... I probably don't really 'listen' to him do I!
love the idea of ssssss!
