Nice here eh? Seven is a lovely magic number.

DD has horrible cough off DH. They are both hacking away like nanny goats so our house is rather noisy and I s'pose I'll have to get it too, sooner or later. A real workout for the immune system at 6 months anyway.

Think maybe my purees were a little bit lumpy for DD. She really went for the bought stuff I gave her today, and I was quite reassured. Anyone actually tried the Hipp apple and blueberry? So tasty I could have it on toast , no probs.

Georgina hope your hands, feet and mouths are OK.

Twiglett you are a rascal... sleeping through eh? what on earth is she thinking of?

Think I would rather miss my little overnight fixes of DD if she didn't remind me of her presence every 3 hours or so.

Hi everybody

I made fish, potato and sweetcorn today and she ate it again!!! yay!

Egypt- yeah we're on ntl. No probs with the computer service but the tv service SUCKS. Georgous bathroom, sooooo .

Bozza- poor you! hope dp feels better soon, and you get a little more sleep tonight.

Oh Susi, how annoying Are you any clearer on why yet?

Libb- Dp is exactly the same. He never gets my colds! Annoying isn't it? So tell me, will you be joining the cambs meet up on the 3rd Libb? (see don't need you lot i have my own meet up to go to )

Spots- lol Sounds like a good idea!

Kiera slept for only an hour and a half at lunchtime instead of 2 hours and only 10 minutes this morning instead of 30 minutes! What's going on there then?

Am really worried. I have been feeling really naseous and light headed lately and had some wierd cramping like i did in early pregancy with kiera. Eeep!

So question everyone, i was cleaning kieras belly button gently with a cotton bud today and found this odd bright red lump. Only small, but in the context of kieras bully button quite large iykwim. Are there bully buttons still healing? should i get her checked? she's fine in every other way and it doesn't seem to hurt her.

Take care everyone
xxxx

cat, not really sure about the answer to that. dd's belly button is healed. could she have caught it or something? maybe someone will have an idea. shouldnt worry though.

chuffed, i phoned and i have to wait until i have cancelled ntl, which is a 30 day notice period, but will CAT you to get your telephone number, which is what they need to get £10 credited to you.

Egypt i really don't know. I just feel like i could be....we've not really taken any chances, i'm on the patch. But then i was on the pill when i feel pregnant with kiera and apparently it is the same reliability.
Very, very freaked tbh.

Cat there seems to be a theme with these meals you are cooking. But if it ain't broke ;) I wouldn't be worried about Kiera's belly button but would probably make an appt with the doctor to check it out. I've made an appt for DD for tomorrow - just rang nursery and she is still very chesty. So that will be 3 doctor's appts and 1 visit to the baby clinic this week between the two of them. Fortunately DS sees it as a treat - strange boy.

Got three days to get us all well before DD's big day on Sunday.

Cat surely you can't be....

Bozza- yep there is rather a big sweetcorn and potato theme the fish is a new one though! The last time i gave it to her she wouldn't eat 2 mouthfulls, just kept gagging!

ooh Cat, you will keep us posted won't you?

DS has been mardy all day long the and anitbiotics have given him a really nasty nappy rash - just what he needs on top of feeling generally crummy.

I was very naughty this afternoon and let him lick a twiglett for just a mini second - he didn't even bat an eyelid and actually held his hands out for more! why can't others foods seem as appealing? So there you go, he is a fan of twigletts!

Heloooo..
sorry I havent been around much. Been busy with work etc and also felt that I was ignoring DP and we should spend more time together, although all we did was sit and watch tv. Have to be honest as much as I love dp I find it frustrating that it seems to be me who does most things and spends the weekend tidying etc we dont seem to be as close as before. I dont know if its just that we dont seem to talk to each other any more and spend the evening both doing seperate things ie me reading, him watching tv.
All of our LO's seem to be ill. DD's got a cold which she has had for ages and now she has a bad cough. Ive also got broncitus. I used to hate seeing toddlers or babies with runny noses and thought they looked uncared for(i know a daft view to have but I didnt have children then). Now I can see why they always had a runny nose. Its impossible to keep it clean. DPs nose is always running and she also has a habit of blowing snot bubbles.

Egypt I always wanted one of those baths, They look so comfy and welcoming.

We still wake at 4-5ish. I read somewhere that babies come into a light sleep about then which is why most of them wake. DD now goes from 7.30pm-5ish then wakes and I bring her into bed and feed her. If I put her back in the cot after her feed she wakes up and wont sleep, so beds so much easier. On the plus she is still going in her cot awake and then going to sleep herself.

SUSI DD still doesnt roll from tummy to back. After a few nights of trying to put her back on her back when she woke I just gave up. Now she is much happier sleeping on her tummy and always rolls over when I put her in the cot. Maybe you should just stop trying to turn him back.

Now tell me the truth, what would you think about this? MIL picks up DD at 8am then she takes her home and they go for a walk. She does this so that DD can nap. Then they have breakfast, play and dinner and then she takes her back in the pram for another walk and sleep, then in the late afternoon they go for another walk and sleep. It is bugging me that DD never sleeps in the cot during the day at mils and I think being taken out 3 times a day is a bit much. They are out walking for approx 3hrs. It seems to me that in order for her to get DD to sleep she has to take her for a walk and then she leaves her in the pram sleeping. Last week she told me not to bother giving her the travel cot as she doesnt use it. The problem I have is that on the weekend it is impossible for us to get DD to sleep in her cot.Mum says that I should just put up with it, as its better that dd has a routine during the week and regular naps and at least shes getting fresh air and stimulation. But its annoying me to think that DD is just being wheeled in her pram to get her to nap. Should I just let MIL get on with it?

I think im spending too much time on here. At times I find myself thinking about DD and refering to her as DD to other people!!!not by her name.
Off work tomorrow as ive got a funeral to go to. My best friends mum died 5 yrs ago of a brain hemorage(very sudden) her dad never got over it and died last week of liver failure(also very sudden). Its a shame as both of them were only in their 50's. I cant ever imagine not having my mum and dad.

good morning everybody!
had a weird night; ds woke at 3am and wouldn't settle for 2 hours till i finally gave him a bottle; he rolled over and fell asleep in a second ; stopped nightfeeds about 2mths ago! so it might either be that he finally is hungry again (he didn't finish his bottles the last 3 days and hardly ate any solids) OR another growthspurt ?!
oooooohhhh, and tooth nr. 3 is finally out

kbaby: good to read from you again? too much on here? haven't seen you in aaaaaages
but i know what you mean with "spending time with dp" - we get that too that some evenings we just end up doing our own things but we try to make the effort to do things together too.
just like yday: we played a game on xbox together

hm, leave him on his tummy? well, i wouldn't mind him sleeping on his tummy; the problem is he wakes up and gets all annoyed and frustrated!
he got better though; he doesn't cry straight away, it's more a whinging and moaning but when i don't turn him back soon he gets louder and louder. but you might be right, maybe leave him on his front and comfort him that way...
i don't know

and re mil, well, tough one. she IS looking after dd so whatever way she is comfy with you should (sort of) let her do it *but if it makes live much harder for you, you should try to talk her! just bring around the travelcot and ask her to help you out there. so dd can have her routine all week round. how about just swap one walk with cot? and if that goes well maybe another one? hope you get on with your mil well enough

libb: who doesn't like twigletts

and i hope all your lo's will be well soon! and the mums too

we always thought he is british but oh well, same difference!

at least the austrian embassy was helpfull.
i just have to send in some forms, money and can get him added to my passport within 10 days!!!!
(an own passport would take about 4wks, no time right now; will sort that out later!)

good news about passport susi

kbaby, i have to admit i take dd out for walks to get her asleep most of the time. she doesnt seem to like her cot much in the day and my mum always always prefers to walk than cot, but saying that i know exactly what you mean about needing your w.e's. i would ask mil to 'help you out' by trying to train dd into sleeping in her cot. say it that way then she thinks she's helping rather than you having a go. i kind of think that cot = nightime in dd's brain, so think it's ok for her not to go in it, but cant be having a toddler who won't go to sleep in her cot in the day in the future. argh

neighbour is a photographer and wants some baby pics for her portfolio so having a shooting sesh this morning!!!!! wehey! have to wait until dd is alert after he morning nap, BUT she didnt wake up til 9, so nap wont be until 11 ish, then wakes not until 12/1, which means its too late as have to go to mils this afternoon. may just get her round now

Good morning everyone

End of the week again! blimey they seem to be getting shorter. We might take Kiera to see Santa tomorrow at a garden centre just out of town I know she's very young and won't understand, but both dp and i have been looking longingly at grottos for the last 4 years and never had the excuse to go inside before Does anyone know where i can get hold of a basted turkey breast? Tesco do a butter basted one which is lovely but it's only big enough for 2 people and i need one for 7. After yet another Christmas dinner run we have finaly come to the conclusion that neither of us are a fan of the big whole birds and just want something a tad simpler.

Susi- good news about the tooth. I'm wondering if keira is going through a growth spurt. Yesterday she wolfed down a 240ml bottle 2 hours after eating a good amount of solid, which is unusual.

Kbaby- Hmmmm, that is tricky. IMHO though, i think you should put your foot down. Dd may get very used to being walked to sleep, which may make it much more difficult to settle her in her cot at all. It's like the whole rocking to sleep thing, it also makes it difficult for them to go to sleep on their own if they wake up. I'd tell your MIL that she's free to take dd out for walks for fresh air etc, but to put her in her travel cot at regular nap times. That is just my opinion though, which is very Gina Ford and many, many people do walk/ rock their baby to sleep, so please don't take my word as gospel, in the end it's entirely up to you and what makes you happiest. If it's making life difficult for you then try and put a stop to it, if you're happy to carry on like it is do that.

Libb- Will certainly keep you all posted. I have cystitis for the 3rd time in a month which also had me worried. The only other time i had it that often was when i was pg....very worried.
Oh poor ds! a rash as well as poorlyness I hope feels much better soon. How are you feeling now?

Okay Kiera and I are going to snuggle under a duvet on the sofa now and continue to read "Fantastic Mr Fox". We've been doing that every day for a week now as a little "bonding" time and i'm really enjoying it

Take care everyone
xxxx

Just butting in here. Did you see the report this week that babies sleep better if they get planty of fresh air? Don't worry too much kbaby about MIL taking her for walks. Very good for her IMO. I really don't think it will stop her sleeping in her cot. Means she is getting the benefit of fresh air and a rest every day.

That sounds like one of those 'Laughing is Good for you - It's Official' type reports! Seems perfectly normal that babies sleep better with plenty of fresh air... don't we all? I wish I could get DD to sleep more on walks; am missing th exercise. But now she's in the back carrier she can't sleep as comfortably as in the wilkinet days. And I can't walk as far with her in the buggy.

I also wonder if our babies are getting to an age where they start to recognise that different tbings happen with different people. ie. baby kbaby realises that granny always takes her for walks but mummy puts her in the cot to nap. but if you are noticing it impacting on her home habits maybe you could say something... hmmm...then again she's never been a good cot sleeper has she? maybe mil's solution is a good one? Definitely a generational thing too... my own mil walks DD and Sheila the dentist is coming to walk her this afternoon!

We just went to visit a childminder. Am doing a sslllooooooooooowwwwwww buildup to childcare in the spring now, with maybe a couple of hours here and there, and have arranged a half morning in January with this woman who does seem excellent. HER HOUSE IS SO CLEAN!

hmm I supose I will try not to worry about it too much for now. She does enjoy being in the pram and at least shes getting fresh air and lots of visits to the park.

She was a lttle monkey last night. She went to bed fine but then woke at 1am. I gave her some milk but it didnt settle her Tried Ashstons and parsons also. She wasnt crying just awake but each time she coughed the dummy fell out and then she would grizzle. Normally she doesnt bother with the dummy that much at bed time. Anyway by 2.30 I brought her into bed as I felt sorry for her what with all the coughing. The minute I brought her into bed she fell straight asleep and didnt cough once all night. It was as if she thought right ive got what I wanted ill go to sleep now and the coughing was just part of the ploy.

What are you all giving your LO's for dinner now. And are you batch cooking things or giving them what you eat?

I think I definetly prefer 6 months old babies to new born babies. DD now has so much personality and is fun to be with instead of the crying newborn she used to be.

Spots weve got a friend photographer coming on Sunday. As we cant think of any xmas pressies we decided to get some photos done and maybe create a calander for the granparents etc. Plus hes starting his own studio and it will also help his portfolio to have pictures of such a gorgeous beautiful baby on his books.(not that I am biased you understand)

kbaby, my childminder doesn't have a cot - she goes out a lot and dd often sleeps in the buggy. I was a bit worried about this at first, but have since decided to go with the flow.
