Nice here eh? Seven is a lovely magic number.

DD has horrible cough off DH. They are both hacking away like nanny goats so our house is rather noisy and I s'pose I'll have to get it too, sooner or later. A real workout for the immune system at 6 months anyway.

Think maybe my purees were a little bit lumpy for DD. She really went for the bought stuff I gave her today, and I was quite reassured. Anyone actually tried the Hipp apple and blueberry? So tasty I could have it on toast , no probs.

Georgina hope your hands, feet and mouths are OK.

Twiglett you are a rascal... sleeping through eh? what on earth is she thinking of?

Think I would rather miss my little overnight fixes of DD if she didn't remind me of her presence every 3 hours or so.

Thanks loads everyone, i do feel better after reading your posts. Tbh it was feeling like we didn't have a "bond" that made me go to the docs about pnd. I'm hoping that it'll start feeling better soon and i stop imagining stuff!!
Susi- I've heard of the signing classes and was intrigued but i've not seen anything advertised around here for them. Kiera has only had about 3 giggling fits! but i guess that makes them all the more special I hope your nights get better soon.
Twiglett- thanks so much for your wise words, they made a lot of sense and helped immensly
Egypt- Don't worry about Friday. It's a shame you can't make it but we will do it again hopefully! On the subject is anyone a definite yes? Libb? I know Prufrock can't make it. Anyone else?

Well i have had success at last-hurrah! i made an oaty vegetable thing including sweetcorn and a small amount of real milk and she loved it. I was sooooo pleased, i don't even mind cleaning the bombsite of a kitchen
Dp and and i had great fun yesterday evening, he designs computer games and sometimes gets given free games. He bought a singing one home last night and it was hilarious! we both had microphones and had to compete singing the same song and the same time. We were both dancing and singing round the sitting room to Elvis like complete wallies untill 11.00pm at the top of our voices How we didn't manage to wake kiera up is beyond me and our poor neighbours must have been going spare!

Take care everyone
xxxx

Egypt · 23/11/2004 13:12

well your dp and yourself certainly have a GREAT relationship cat!! you lucky girl. dh would look at me and roll his eyes if i was to 'partake' in such activities!

Egypt · 23/11/2004 13:15

btw, how do the babysign teachers assure you that signing will not impede speech development? this must be a common worry.

Egypt · 23/11/2004 13:23

ooo, i see on the site

spots · 23/11/2004 13:48

Egypt that was the main topic of the articles mum cut out for me... the SALT world is rampant on the issue (generally conclusion was that it s okj)

Cat82 - please don't worry. DS doesn't roll over at all. Occasionally will flick a leg sideways as if he is contemplating it...then decides it is all too much trouble.
DD was a cuddly baby, very lovely dovey etc. Now, 2 weeks off her 3rd birthday, she stands patiently at the door of pre-school where I lovingly bend and kiss her pursed little mouth and she slowly wipes the kiss off with her hand, turns on her heel and marches in! She was an extremely clingy baby and I was convinced that she would never go anywhere independently and despaired of ever going to the toilet alone ever again.......

libb · 23/11/2004 15:28

Cat, I can't make Friday either . DS has been to the doctors today and is on antibiotics/nose drops for his cough/cold - we both have the mother of colds and he is banned from the childminders for a day or two, I suppose it is fortunate that I happen to be off sick too but you can just imagine the two of us holed up on the sofa sharing a box of tissues and watching old films.

By the way, a giggle or smile from DS is rarer than Hale Bopp passing by. It is only the last week or two that he has started, I think because the childminder has a host of kiddies that never tire of entertaining him - even when it isn't needed . . . . perhaps our darlings are more interested in absorbing information.

Do you think you could ask your DP to pop down the next floor and drop some games off for the attention of my DP? promise we'd look after them . . .

libb · 23/11/2004 15:31

we have no rolling either, this morning I put a toy just of his reach . . . . he stretched as far possible and then flumped like a starfish face down onto his blanket.

Kicking backwards into the hallway is a breeze though.

cat82 · 23/11/2004 15:47

Libb- i shall see what i can do re games. I would also be more than happy to pootle to you on the bus to drop some off and make you some soup you poor sickly thing you

So am i the only one going Friday then?

xx

Cat I think a lot of babies are not very cuddly. Seems strange really. Get much more in the way of cuddles of DS who's nearly 4 than DD. "Need a cuddle" is one of his little sayings. But then he wasn't a cuddly baby either so there is hope for us with our DDs. DD is still full of cold and coughing but seems to be edging towards one feed a night but can't quite make morning for the second one. Will post more tomorrow at work.

Judd · 23/11/2004 21:36

My birthday tomorrow. Want to guess how old?

GeorginaA · 23/11/2004 21:39

Um.... 21 again!

spots · 23/11/2004 22:43

35?

OP posts:
libb · 23/11/2004 23:00

ooh, I am lame at these . . . 28?

Cat, you are a sweetie!! but having lurgified at least 3 kiddies in the neighbourhood through DS (and possibly the childminder too) we are in hiding for a day or two. We are outlaws on the run!

I will keep an eye on the other Cambs thread and see how it pans out - I feel like I am taking the mickey at work at the moment, have had a few annual leave days off and have now had my second sick day since May 2003 - have I earnt my purple heart or what?

libb · 23/11/2004 23:04

I would pay someone £10 for my ears to "pop" back to normal right now, poor old DS can't even understand his ailment . . . although he took his nose drops and syringe of weird yellow stuff very well considering he is "the only child to hate Calpol in the UK ever!". I was expecting a showdown of some kind.

Egypt · 24/11/2004 08:47

dd hates calpol too, and medised....well..dont we all. ugh.

30? put us out of our misery judd!

i am a bad mummy. did some cc last night when dd woke at 10. at ELEVEN thought i'd just sit her up and see if she had a little wind.....buuuuuurrrrrrpp. slumped back down and went to sleep. feel soooooo bad. bless her heart. mind you. am waiting for this cc to work again like it did before. we were still up at 12 and 4.30. cant persist with cc then i am too knackered. perhaps thats where i am going wrong and giving her the wrong message, but it worked fine when we first did it. gave water and she was happy to go back to sleep. not now, oh lordy no.

cat, do hope you aren't the only one in the slug and lettuce with your bacardi breezer and bowl of curly fries. but think you may be. oooops

Egypt · 24/11/2004 08:48

btw HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUDD!!!!

Egypt · 24/11/2004 08:49

look georgina - i kept me asterixes!! those techies can be beaten

GeorginaA · 24/11/2004 09:37

OOO... how did you manage that, Egypt?!

Happy birthday Judd!

Egypt · 24/11/2004 09:46

must have been the exclamation marks

spots · 24/11/2004 10:05

Happy 60th Birthday Judd ! (why else would you be so secretive?)

DD has LOST weight. Not entirely surprising, given that she's cut back on the night feeds but isn't eating huge quantities of solids. Doesn' t have the same yippeeee quality on the growth chart tho.

OP posts:
Bozza · 24/11/2004 10:34

Come on Judd? How old?

Egypt DD has been going to bed really well for ages but just waking in the night so understand your situation well. Unfortunately I have no ideas for you. She seems to have cut down to once a night for feeds though - last night was 20 to 4 and then slept until after 7. Was really pleased because she has quite a bad cough and we heard her coughing at other points but managed to settle herself.

But I managed to let her fall of DS's bed today . I put her in the middle (granted its a single bed) sat up with her head facing the foot of the bed and DS was playing with her from the floor and I just went to get him his clothes out and there was a huge thud and she was laid out on the floor on her back parallel with the bed crying. Don't know if DS had pressed on the mattress, unbalanced her or something but really feel bad about putting her there like that.

Egypt · 24/11/2004 10:51

oh bozza, great about nights, sorry about fall

i guess it's something most babies have to experience! i know i did, not that i remember and thousands, nay millions of others too. bless. she'll be fine but i would feel just like you if (when) dd does it. dont worry {{{{hugs}}}}

she's still not written back - HAPPY 73RD BIRTHDAY JUDD

Bozza · 24/11/2004 12:23

Thanks Egypt. Fortunately DS's bed is lower than ours but still feel bad - poor little thing has a cold, cough and just recovered from a poorly tummy and what do I do?

SusiS · 24/11/2004 13:29

aww bozza, hope dd didn't take it too badly!
like egypt said, i dread the day when it'll happen here - because it sure will happen!
don't feel too bad it's just what babies do; do unexpected things at unexpected moments

happy birthday judd!!!!! hope you have a fab day

ds seems to be much brighter
he still is very blocked up but so funny all day.
i just have to look at him or say anything and he will start giggling
he's having his normal naps; just eating is not back to normal yet
maybe half of the milk he should drink (i think it's due to his blocked nose, he can't drink and breathe so he refuses) but he is quite ok on solid food!

re signing: i read the articles too and as far as i understand it can be possible that lo starts talking a bit later (due to being lazy signing i guess ) but then they make up really quickly; my guess due to the vocabulary they already have - i still think it's all about us talking to them! keep talking and talking to them until they tell us to zip it - then you know they are ready
