Nice here eh? Seven is a lovely magic number.

DD has horrible cough off DH. They are both hacking away like nanny goats so our house is rather noisy and I s'pose I'll have to get it too, sooner or later. A real workout for the immune system at 6 months anyway.

Think maybe my purees were a little bit lumpy for DD. She really went for the bought stuff I gave her today, and I was quite reassured. Anyone actually tried the Hipp apple and blueberry? So tasty I could have it on toast , no probs.

Georgina hope your hands, feet and mouths are OK.

Twiglett you are a rascal... sleeping through eh? what on earth is she thinking of?

Think I would rather miss my little overnight fixes of DD if she didn't remind me of her presence every 3 hours or so.

Hello everyone

Well, kiera is still poorly but not as bad as she was the other night. Dp went to Tesco and bought Medised. Oh god, it was like love at first sight Also bought a snot sucker! She is still snuffly and coughy, and managed to do more grown up puke down dps back tonight (because she was coughing quite badly) But she is definatly much better. BUT......NOW I HAVE THE BLOODY THING!!!!!!!!! Which is why i've not been around.
Still, on the bright side, at least it is out of the way for christmas

Libb- I got your text, thank you, but i have no credit to reply.

Helsy- Ooh, good news about the house, and bfing exculusivly for 6 months is absolutly something to proud of, well done

Egypt and Spots- Congrats on your grown up babies Kiera is making an effore to pull herself up as well, i am dreading the cot lowering !

Everyone, thanks so much for your support the other night when kiera was soooo sick, i really appreciate it. Sorry i didn't reply then, but kiera got worse as soon as i posted so i had to run, then i went to bed as soon as she calmed down in case the evening was unsettled.

I have only 1 more thing to add......

HORRAY FOR THE GODSEND THAT IS MEDISED!!!!

Take care everyone. Lots of love.

xxxx

Judd · 19/12/2004 20:16

I heart Medised too
Glad that it helped.

kbaby · 19/12/2004 20:44

Cat, sorry to hear your news. and im glad the DD seems a bit better

DD crawled today. She got on hands and knees and moved her knees. Although when she moved her knees she went back down on her belly. It was like a comando move. The cat was her goal. So I think the poor cat may being sat in front of her more often now as temptation. She hasnt done it since though.

Went on my xmas party friday and came home at 1am to find dd still wide awake. Shes been quite grumpy this weekend and her cough is back. Took her to gp on saturday who said it was her temperture that was making her sick. Now baring in mind he didnt even touch her or take her temperture I doubt very much it was. I took it in the house b4 we went and its fine. I just wanted to check she didnt have a infection but think the coughing was making her sick. Still having sleepless nights and constantly waking at 11pm and staying awake for 2 hrs. I hope tonight is better, she wouldnt sleep at all today.
I wrote to BBC3 about the gina progame and have had a reply to give my tele number so someone can contact me.. Very exciting unless theyve sent that to everyone.

GeorginaAdventCalendar · 19/12/2004 21:10

cat - glad you're okay but sorry you got the cold too

ChristmasBOOZA · 19/12/2004 21:15

Glad things are improving for Kiera, Cat but poor you. And Kbaby - not what you want when you get in from a night out - an awake baby.

DD has been poorly since Friday. She was sick 3 times on Friday morning and has had a temperature and been really tired/clingy/grumpy ever since. She was in our bed all night last night. Then despite being OK Saturday a bit sicky today but not on the Friday scale (TMI I know). Also off her formula and savoury food - just eating fruit and yoghurts.

The strange thing was on Friday I was having my hair done and she was sick on the hair dressing cape just like last time I had my hair done. What is she trying to tell me? Also babysat for friend's 11 month old DD on Friday teatime and she is sooo good.

And DD hates medised with a passion - hates calpol and neurofen but medised is most loathed. Its a four handed job to even attempt to get some into her.

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 19/12/2004 21:22

what a shame prufrock! but there were so many people and by the time i finally could go around and talk to people ds started crying and i had to leave! well, but was a fab event

awww still so many poorly babies; and mummies too

booza: maybe she wants a haircut too???

egypt: hope you had at least a good night out! and keep us updated about that thing on bbc3

i think ds got a hangover! well, lack of sleep that is; not too much alcohol
he was grumpy all day. went down at 6 and woke 3 times since! he doesn't normally.

ChristmasBOOZA · 19/12/2004 21:30

Well DS has a number 7 and looks very smart but DD's hair is virtually invisible.

Obviously Susi your DS is just too much of a socialite and this idea of going to bed is a bit dull.

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 19/12/2004 22:12

yes booza you can say that loud!! he IS very into socialising - he knows a few tricks already to get someones attention

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 20/12/2004 08:40

what a night! ds went down at 6pm and up till 4am he had me out of the bed every hour!!!
i got a bit concerned that he might be ill; he seamed very hot to me. but i didn't want to give him something right at the first sign of being ill.
he took his morningbottle as usual, at least he hasn't lost his appetite!
i just put him down again, he is sooooo tired. but i still can hear him whinge

SantasLittleEgypt · 20/12/2004 09:18

oh no, not poorly babies again. what is going on? poor things. hope all are well again soon. dd hasnt been right. not sick like some of yours, but certainly not right, either. she was awake lots and lots the night before last, and i ended up sleeping with her on the futon in her room. made matters worse that we had dhs's friend and gf staying so i couldnt go to bed sunday. they didnt leave until 730 last night. is was so knackered. but then of course i had to play 'test the nation' before i went to bed! she was still awake at 11, 1, 4,8 . think its because i;ve just been bf her when she wakes and she's getting into bad sleep association habits again. balls. back to bottle of water/2 oz of milk. i feel like i'm not bfd'ing any more. its sad. i still want to, but its been that she sleeps better after formula just lately. i know i shouldnt say it, but it has been that way. i feel like she's getting more inside her when she has a bottle at mealtimes too. oh dear. i wanted to keep bfding at bedtime and morning for a few months yet and once in the day. not sure what to do.

dh has got a cd writer. well I bought it for him and he's just learning how to use it. so we are online all day everyday downloading music. i daren't disconnect the bloody thing and not being on broadband i cant use the phone. grrrrr.

dd hates medised too. i use a syringe to squirt it in her mouth but she screams and squirms and yes, its a 4 hand job.

SantasLittleEgypt · 20/12/2004 09:20

hels, if you go to hotmail.com and get yourself signed up, you can then download msn from that site. it is sooooooo easy to use.
you dont have to do it through hotmail, not sure where else though.

GeorginaAdventCalendar · 20/12/2004 09:38

We've had some dreadful nights recently - our worst being with ds2 up 2 hours then ds1 up 2 hours with only a slight overlap. Last night wasn't too bad with only ds2 waking at 5am and not going back to sleep until 6.15ish (the alarm goes off at 6.45am though!)

Am assuming it's still the permanent cold the kids seem to have at the moment. Either that or it's my fault because only the other day I was saying to dh how lucky we were that the kids were fairly good sleepers overall...

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 20/12/2004 11:31

allright! "putting-ds-to-bed"-take 2! [action]
whatever i do today is not good enough! he is whinging all the time; well, i know he is just overtired - but he just wouldn't go to sleep!!! he could miss out on something [grmpf]
i try not to give in this time!!!

jinglespots · 20/12/2004 15:12

DD has cold too, just a snotty one not bad. Unattractive mint green Xmas stocking dangling fron her nostril most times. She also has a tooth! Or the very start of one, just peeping out. Very sweet.

Have decided after my high tolerance of night wakes that the daytime breastfeeding needs streamlining a bit. Trying to get down to four feeds a day. (In part due to your input, Twiglett and Bozza ... ) The weekend was easy with lots of other people around to distract her, but when it's just her & me she zones in on my bosom at the slightest thing. This morning I tried to take her into town to finish last bits & bobs of shopping, but she roared. Later I did my easy sums again and realised i probably could have just fed her. Um, how to count to four again??

I do like this bit of Xmas. Feel quite jolly despite DD's baleful glares at my chest.

SantasLittleEgypt · 20/12/2004 15:15

hoooooooray! we got food down her. she loved hipp organic tomato and chicken neopolitana, i think it was called. ate loads, then her cold porridge from breakfast for dessert! then a bf. jolly good.

gone to sleep now. she will not starve. def doesnt do mummy's boring cooking. better get ak'ing if i dont want to spend a fortune on jars. god, its tedious isnt it?

SantasLittleEgypt · 20/12/2004 15:17

well done on the tooth. and the bfding spots. cant see or feel a tooth at all. must be SOMEWHERE! she's miserable enough. no, she's ok.

shepherdswatchtheircatsbynight · 20/12/2004 16:30

Hello everybody

Kiera has a tooth!! You can't actualy see it, but i went to rub calgel on her gum this morning and actualy cut my finger it's that sharp

Egypt- Kiera absolutly will not eat anything i cook for her at all anymore, not for lack of trying i might add. She has been exclusivly on jars for a week now. The only thing she'll eat that doesn't come out of one is banana. She loves the hipp tomato and chicken one as well. Isn't it satisfying when they finaly eat and enjoy something?

Oh dear, it really is the illness time of year isn't it? {{{hugs}}} to all snuffly ones.
I still feel awful But apart from a chesty cough kiera is almost full recovered, and didn't peep once last night.

Dp is off to the funeral tomorrow. I'd like to go and support him, but he wants to come back the same day and if kiera and i went, we'd probably have to stay over. Poor thing will be driving between 6 and 8 hours in total tomorrow starting at 7.00am and won't be getting back untill around midnight. So it will just be me, a hot water bottle and a lempsip.

Anyone fancy coming over and keeping me company?

take care everyone
xxxxxx

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 20/12/2004 20:19

wohoooo the may babies all so grown up!!!
very exciting

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 20/12/2004 20:22

phewww what a rough day!
when i came back from shopping dp told me to tippitoe! ds was finally asleep - well, for good 20 min! - as grumpy as ever when he woke up in the end! i managed to feed him dinner and he was just rubbing and rubbing them tired eyes. so we skipped the bath and waited for him to get just a little bit more tired! guess what, that cheeky monkey woke actually up - but was obviously feeling better and much contenter. but at 8pm i put him to bed and he was asleep in a second! still is

jinglespots · 20/12/2004 20:22

I think it's been asked before but how much sugary stuff are people allowing their babies? I gave DD a Boots' rusk today and tried one myself... They are quite sweet. I know the odd petit filou gets through the net; what else?

helsyjinglebellsy · 20/12/2004 20:22

Evening.

Am having a few minutes alone as DH has gone to do the Christmas supermarket shop and both dds are in bed!

Dd2 (unlike the rest of you - sorry!) is well at the moment - her sleeping and feeding is a bit erratic, though. Had three hours sleep last night. Great start to the working week!

Anyone know which milk to use for a baby who's just stopped breastfeeding but is starting to take more and more bottles? She's nearly 7 months. I rang NHS Direct in a panic last week, and they said to use the first milk (we give her aptamil).

Dd1 has no teeth yet, but she has a beautiful gummy smile for everyone. She is trying to bum shuffle but getting nowhere!

Looks like we'll be moving house middle of next month. Not far - just up the road.
Egypt glad to hear she's having food. Cats hope things get beter for you soon.

jinglespots · 20/12/2004 20:25

Congratulations on the house Helsy.

helsyjinglebellsy · 20/12/2004 20:27

Susi - fingers crossed! Jinglespots - I give half a rusk every other day and a jar of apple or some other fruit every day

GeorginaAdventCalendar · 20/12/2004 20:43

Have never given a rusk since I found out that 1 rusk has the same amount of sugar as one doughnut!

Mind you, for some reason, the idea of giving a baby a doughnut doesn't horrify me perhaps as much as it should ...

Dunno really, I'm so laid back with this kid compared to the first. Baby yoghurts obviously (although we have Danone Baby not the Petit Filous which I'm guessing is less sugar?) TBH, sugar doesn't bother me all that much in moderate amounts as long as teeth are brushed fairly well (not that they are - but that's a whole NEW rant!)

I tend to look for things with less additives rather than less sugar on the whole - far more concerned about giving artificial sweetners like aspartame to a baby than sugar which (as long as it doesn't rot their teeth) will only give 'em a bit of a high and be burnt off with all their wriggling...

kbaby · 20/12/2004 20:54

On the sweet front. DD gets fruit once a day and a petit felou or more fruit in the evening. I bought the no added sugar rusks but DD just bashes them instead of eating them. I have noticed that she likes sweet things. I am trying to limit the sugar she gets but everything is full of it.

My dad says that runny noses look like candles!! I think its because the snot reminds him of melted wax.

Yesterday mustve been a bad day for everyone. DD was ok unless you looked, smiled, touched or moved her then she would cry. So she pretty much spent all day crying.

I had a tel call from the BBC3 today to ask me more questions and see if I would be willing to take part. We have to camcorder a diary and send it off.. Ohh its so exciting. I could be a star
