Nice here eh? Seven is a lovely magic number.

DD has horrible cough off DH. They are both hacking away like nanny goats so our house is rather noisy and I s'pose I'll have to get it too, sooner or later. A real workout for the immune system at 6 months anyway.

Think maybe my purees were a little bit lumpy for DD. She really went for the bought stuff I gave her today, and I was quite reassured. Anyone actually tried the Hipp apple and blueberry? So tasty I could have it on toast , no probs.

Georgina hope your hands, feet and mouths are OK.

Twiglett you are a rascal... sleeping through eh? what on earth is she thinking of?

Think I would rather miss my little overnight fixes of DD if she didn't remind me of her presence every 3 hours or so.

Hi everybody, i didn't mean to put a dampner on this thread!
WHY NOW?!!!!! why is EVERYTHING going wrong 1 WEEK before Christmas??
Kiera now has the mother of all colds, and is dosed up with calrub and baby olbas oil. She woke up coughing for England last night, but slept okay after we'd soothed her and put a blanket under her sheet to rasise her head. Poor little thing.
I'm just hoping that she's better before the 4 hour drive to the funeral on Tuesday.

At least i know i can cook Christmas dinner, am sooo relieved we have done all those practices now

Everyone else seems to be having a hard time with sleeplessness and sickness as well

Lots of love and hugs to everybody.

Can I confess please... I have been a smug mummy and have got my come uppance.

I was just saying to dh last night "you know, we've been really lucky. Both our kids aren't bad sleepers, I know we get the odd bad nights, but in general we are fairly well rested." That was a cue for fate to listen and laugh and ds2 was up from 3.30-5.30 last night and ds1 was awake between 5-6.

I AM SO KNACKERED I COULD CRY!

But I've still managed to go to Homebase for some toy boxes (tidying up the living room today), Sainsburys for some ingredients for my next baby meal extravaganza and taken ds1 to see Father Christmas.

This afternoon I believe is a CBeebies afternoon...

SantasLittleEgypt · 17/12/2004 15:19

oh georgina. it's always the way isnt it ?

like i say time and time again - i dont know how you cope with 2!

GeorginaAdventCalendar · 17/12/2004 15:30

On the plus side, thanks to a tremendous overuse of stack & store boxes, we actually have a hole to put the christmas tree

Sorry to hear about kiera's cold as well, cat - you really are overloaded with it all aren't you As you know I'm usually around on MSN on and off throughout the day - so do nab me for a chat/moan/virtual hug as and when you need it.

SantasLittleEgypt · 17/12/2004 15:37

and i'm not being smug but we went from 1130 til 8 last night . did a dream feed at 10 which i thought was a good tactic as she didnt know she was being fed, hence when she did wake i wasn't bfd'ing her back to sleep, could just sush. aaaahhh. of course my mum couldnt do that, but she may be in a sleep through routine by then! hhhhusssshhh

SantasLittleEgypt · 17/12/2004 15:39

come on msn... we're having a party! ;)

shepherdswatchtheircatsbynight · 17/12/2004 20:57

ARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!! is anyone around??? Poor little baby has been screaming for over an hour and poor little mummy is loosing her mind....
We have cal rubbed her chest, put baby olbas oil on a tissue in her room, she doesn't have a temp, but her runny nose is making her very, very distressed

Don't want to post in the health section as i posted there the other day about her sickness, and everyone will think i'm just a total wimp.
Advice anyone??!!!!

GeorginaAdventCalendar · 17/12/2004 21:08

Am here - logging on MSN now, cat

GeorginaAdventCalendar · 17/12/2004 21:24

listens to the echo in the empty ether

Anyone got cat's mobile number so I can text her to see if she's okay? Or alternatively you text her and see if she's okay - either will do

helsyjinglebellsy · 17/12/2004 22:50

Shepherds - what if you fill the bathroom full of steam, get it all out. Keep her upright as much as you can. Can someone else just be with her for an hour just to give you a break?(I know, if you asked me the answer would be no it's just me!).

Egypt, that sounds good - dd2 is now taking a bottle a day, much more food, and sleeping a bit better.

Judd · 17/12/2004 22:57

Medised is meant to help dry up the runniness. That's what we've been using this week for DS. Also have books under his top cot legs and a pillow under the mattress to slant him. He's still woken though and done loads of coughing. Best wishes - its a horrible time.
DS is only just over his cold and I had to take him to softplay place this afternoon (DD had party invite). One child had a runny nose and cough and I kept surreptitiously moving DS away from her because I'd love to avoid him being ill over Christmas if at all possible.......

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 18/12/2004 07:49

yep cat! medised helped us through it! and it also make the kids drowsy a little bit. gives them and you a little rest! (well, that didn't work always but the nose cleared up really quickly) - hang in there !

GeorginaAdventCalendar · 18/12/2004 10:39

cat how are you today? Hope you're getting a lie in and that you're all a bit better.

Thinking of you.

xxx

jinglespots · 18/12/2004 19:53

So are you all on msn now? Come on girls - we've got a reputation to hold onto here!

How is she, Cat?

How was your house buying, Helsy?

We just put up our Xmas tree. I love that. DD has been shockingly grown up today, holding on to her cot sides standing up and taking custody of her own water bottle at lunch. I had to do a double take: 'is that my little baby?' - and it was!

Also Sheila the dentist took her for a huge walk... for two and a hlaf hours... I got to door-watching in the end, knowing that she'd be starving when she got back and thinking she'd never be willing to take solid food. (normally if she's upset a b/feed is the only thing that'll pacify her). But no!!! she had peas and rice and parsnip all ground down but still with some texture. And held her own bottle. It was as if one baby went out with Sheila and another one came back. Bizarre.

SantasLittleEgypt · 18/12/2004 21:13

bless her! she is growing up. dd astonished me today. she made a huge effort to bum shuffle over to this fake sheepsking throw we have over a stool. she then grabbed with all her might onto the fur and made a huge attempt to pull herself up. she didnt manage it, but blimey, it won't be long. i was astonished. think its time to lower the cot base.
no more drapping my boobs over her face then. [grin[

helsyjinglebellsy · 19/12/2004 02:00

We just signed for the house on Friday - move will be in the new year - it was scary to be signing our lives away. This will be the first house dh and I have owned together.
I'm not on msn - wouldn't know where to START. Cat/shepherds, how are you today? Hope you got some sleep.
Dd2 is now taking much more of the bottled milk and I think my milk is reducing as a result which I'm a bit sad about, but not desperately so. It means I can go out with dd1 alone which has been nice, and she's had over 6 months of exclusive bf, which I think is something to be proud of.

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 19/12/2004 09:22

morning ladies! we had a very exhausting day yesterday! but fun! went to a mumsnet meeting in london - was great! i didn't know anybody. well, in the beginning anyways
prufrock where were you???? was looking forward to meeting you
even santa came along which was great fun for the kids!
after that we went to see a friend of mine and stayed for dinner! veeeeeery long drive back home. ds was finally in bed at midnight
but still was up at 7

how is everybody else doing? cat: is kieras cold getting better???
helsy: know what you mean! we moved into our first house togehter a few months ago too! the day we signed the contract we said the same "signing our lives away"
spots, egypt: wow pulling themselves up??? and yes, the little babies have disappeared
but cute little girls/boys are making us very happy now

jinglespots · 19/12/2004 10:32

LOL Egypt, with your boobs over her face.

Susi glad you had fun at the meet.

prufRockingAroundtheXmasTree · 19/12/2004 17:59

We were there - didn't realise you were coming or would have gone round asking everyone if they were Susi. My dd was the one who went up to Santa with her hands over her eyes.
