Nice here eh? Seven is a lovely magic number.

DD has horrible cough off DH. They are both hacking away like nanny goats so our house is rather noisy and I s'pose I'll have to get it too, sooner or later. A real workout for the immune system at 6 months anyway.

Think maybe my purees were a little bit lumpy for DD. She really went for the bought stuff I gave her today, and I was quite reassured. Anyone actually tried the Hipp apple and blueberry? So tasty I could have it on toast , no probs.

Georgina hope your hands, feet and mouths are OK.

Twiglett you are a rascal... sleeping through eh? what on earth is she thinking of?

Think I would rather miss my little overnight fixes of DD if she didn't remind me of her presence every 3 hours or so.

seems like the may mummys are having a hard time

bozza: hope dd is better soon though you finally can start with sorting out nightsleeping!

kbaby: you must be shattered!!! men 'rolling eye icon' - don't know but ds was just the same a few weeks ago! woke 4-5 times a night and i had to see to him; mostly he was fine with dummy in and me stroking his head till he was settled again. for a few nights now he is very good. maybe cries out once but i don't even have to go in - so fingers crossed!!!! 'onlyaphaseonlyaphase'

Georgina: me too re cleaner! i am at home too so i thought i can't justify a cleaner! but hmmmmm, you made me think
and fingers crossed for your delivery!!!
oh, and well done on sitting

egypt: glad that your dad's better!

cat: thumbs up on rolling

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 14/12/2004 21:25

ohhhh, and passport finally arrived! got ds added to my passport - leave it that way for now and when we come back i'll apply for a seperate one!
haven't packed a thing yet but i did start a list
any tips what i deff shouldn't leave behind????

better go back to my calendars for grandparents pressies. any idea what paint to use for hand/footprints????

Judd · 14/12/2004 21:49

Susi - I'd remember to take DS! After all the palaver with his passport it would be a bugger to forget him

GeorginaAdventCalendar · 14/12/2004 22:23

Oi Bozza - don't be silly, nothing to apologise for... I do it to myself - have been talking myself into it and back out of it for days now...

The cold thing is horrid isn't it - both dses have horrible residual coughs at the moment - ds2 keeps waking himself up with his atm but doesn't call out... you can hear him being restless over the monitor though. He was so knackered today he actually fell asleep in his pushchair on the way home which is unheard of.

Oh kbaby - sounds like you're having a really rough time at the moment Hope things get better soon.

helsyjinglebellsy · 15/12/2004 06:35

Morning. Well, I'm awake - actually have been since 2am.

Went out for work meal, back at 10.30, bf'd dd2, went to sleep. She woke at 2 and didn't go back to sleep until five minutes ago. Gave in and fed her at 4.30. That didn't work. Her cold seems to be better but she wants to be with me all the time, which is really tiring. To add to that, the bottle feeding is NOT going well - mum got her to have a couple of ounces but we didn't carry on at the weekend so she's back to square one again and has lost 3oz in 2 weeks which I know isn't much, but weight loss always worries me. She's dropping a milk feed and not replacing it with anything. She will eat some food but not in any sort of routine.

Sorry, this is a whinge, but I'm knackered, I have to be in work in two hours and everything seems worse at this time of the morning.

The good news is that she's sitting up pretty much unaided and bum shuffling on my knee, which is funny. Oh, and she's gorgeous. And we're going to see dd1 in the school play on Thursday. And buying a house on Friday. And I know you shouldn't start a sentence with And.
We have a cleaner and an ironing lady but the cleaner is free with my job and when we move we won't have a cleaner but we'll have more room for the filth to spread out (grin).

helsyjinglebellsy · 15/12/2004 06:37

So why didn't that come up as a grin, then?

mears · 15/12/2004 07:11

You need the square brackets [

If she isn't well I would just feed her, even if that means taking her into bed. I am afraid when I worked and B/F sleeping was more important to me. Slept myself and fed. Never had a problem with toddlers not able to sleep in their own beds. Hope you get some sleep soon.

ChristmasBOOZA · 15/12/2004 08:38

Mears you are very good at coming and telling us to go with the flow when we are making things hard for ourselves. I think DD's cold is getting better and she slept until 5.30 am. I fed her at 5.45 and she went back to bed. With DS that would have been it up for the day so that thought cheered me up. DH says that if I take a day off next week he can have a "working at home" day and help me so feeling much more positive.

helsyjinglebellsy · 15/12/2004 09:39

Found them! - if they don't come out I'll have to do an embarrassed one later. Thank you Mears for your wise advice. Still tired and Not To Be Messed With this morning, but apparently dd2 is very happy and eating well grrrrr.

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 15/12/2004 10:36

sorry to hear about all your difficult nights
hope it'll get better for each of you very soon!!! - and all them colds don't help either

will take ds to town a bit later and get a xmas card from him to us - dp doesn't know about it, so he might like the surprise!

and i have to find a suitable paint for ds' foot/handprints.

lucas seems to be over all his ouchies! he goes down to sleep fine as ever! but he is much more active lately! with all his rolling and pushing
i really need to start making the house childsecure!!! somehow he made his way over to the stereo and almost got to play with the dvd player

jinglespots · 15/12/2004 12:59

Susi you can get totally safe paint from Early Learning Centre. Unless you want to print on something other than paper.

SantasLittleEgypt · 15/12/2004 13:21

yes, i tried to make hand and footprints with salt dough and they look crap. bought some acrylic paints to paint them with, but that's not suitable if you're printing by putting hands in paint susi! elc deffo.

oh kbaby and helsy, hope things sort themselves out soon. dont know how you manage to work and babycare too, especially with night wakings. definitely just feed in bed hels. not worth getting so tired over. you can build a routine later i'm sure. nice to know that mears's didnt have sleep problems as toddlers when they were in bed with her.

dd doesnt do veggies . have to keep making up sweeter desserts for her as she wont eat her firsts and i worry she's not getting enough food. but dont want her to get a sweet tooth either. doh.

did well last night - 7- 5.15, took 5 oz then woke at 815. sorry.

Judd · 15/12/2004 19:27

Just found two more teeth in DS's mouth! I think they must have come through only last night but they're definitely there.....that's a grand total of six now! Little boy also sounds like Darth Vadar at the moment, got an awful wheeze left over from his cold, but is still very chirpy and bouncy! Also had a call from the TumbleTots man to say that DS has a place from January - hoorah! Just hope that DD is sold on the idea of coming along and "helping" rather than charging on all the stuff herself.

kbaby · 15/12/2004 21:02

Teeth, whats does that mean!! DD just seems to chomp on things but certaintly no sign of any teeth. I know they are there somewhere, I vaguely remember seeing them on the ultra sound scan

helsyjinglebellsy · 15/12/2004 21:50

Thanks for the kind thoughts! Came home - to cooked meal on the table from dh! had a sleep earlier and am off to bed now. Dd2 had 3oz of formula from a bottle and LOTS of food today, so here's hoping for a quieter night.

SantasLittleEgypt · 16/12/2004 09:11

thats good news helsy. teeth - what are they? i agree. cooked meal on table - what is that?

dd wasnt so great last night. 10,130,230,730. bugger

jinglespots · 16/12/2004 11:08

We've got a lot of night wakings again now. Last night 12, 4.30, 5.30. But I am not inclined to do much about it at the moment. Can manage OK during the day and sort of reckon I'd rather have a couple of quick feeding sessions during the night, which reliably knock her out again, than a battle of wills. Also consider myself lucky not to have a baby who actually wakes up and doesn't sleeo again for whatever reason. I am definitely a switherer on the CC front, so think I won't do it unless/until I feel desparate! Suspect I am a terrible hippy anyway so may as well be consistent. Or am I just lazy...? We will see how it goes. Egypt, how are you and DD feeling during the day? Are you worn out? Hope the whole business isn't too miserable outside of the night times.

Helsy, would love to know more about your house buying tomorrow? when is the move?

Windy and sunny here today. DD wrapped up in snowsuit and cardigans, though it isn't actually that cold... she will not fit in her bumbo (anyone else still using theirs? I find DD is more amenable to it now that she can sit herself...odd...) but balances on top of it like an egg in an egg cup. Grinning away.

Cooking chocolate rolls for toddlers night out tomorrow. no toddlers mind! a night on the town, can't wait. xxx

TheHollyAndTheTwiglett · 16/12/2004 11:10

DD can get up on knees and hands now .. and she can pitch herself out of the galt playring .. and wriggle over to DS's lego where she takes great pleasure in destruction (don't worry its duplo sized)

oh gawd she's gonna be off and crawling under her own steam soon

ChristmasBOOZA · 16/12/2004 11:21

Fortunately my DD still hasn't worked it out but my DS is into the small size lego. Santa is bringing a Pirate Ship. She did manage to grab a matchbox car last night though.

My friend rang up at 7.40 am and asked for me to babysit her DD from 5 pm tomorrow. So while also washing DS, refusing to let him have the phone since his hands were in a sinkful of water and holding DD, I agreed. She's 11 months, crawling and pulling herself up, so will be good practice in working out just how unsafe our house is.

DD has slept from 7.30 to 5.30, fed and then again until 7.05 two nights in a row. So we just need her to do it tonight and it will qualify for the Twiglett definition of a routine.

SantasLittleEgypt · 16/12/2004 12:41

cor, thats good booza. when consistency happens in our house i'll let you know!

no, not at all whacked spots, as i can shush her to sleep in seconds when she wakes. if not, i go and warm a couple of ounces of formula which is ready in the fridge which puts her back to sleep again. if my goal was to get her to sleep through rather than actually just not need bf in the night i may do cc, but i just cant in the small hours. far too tiring. at least i know i can prob leave her in jan. god, i dont know if i want to and may just take her and say sod it. it'll make our w.e harder but my friend will just have to accept it and piss off on her own if she's fed up with us. would like a break though.

shepherdswatchtheircatsbynight · 16/12/2004 13:36

Hi everyone.

We got the worst news possible yesterday. A very close freind of dps family has died, quite unexpectidly yesterday morning. His poor wife is being very strong but is devestated. Dps family are ever so upset as well.
I know them both quite well, and i just feel awful. I started a thread about it, i just can't stop thinking about his poor wife
We're going next week to the funeral, it's such a terrible time of year as well.

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 16/12/2004 15:12

oh no cat! what terrible news!!!! i am thinking of you and your family!!!!!!
