Nice here eh? Seven is a lovely magic number.

DD has horrible cough off DH. They are both hacking away like nanny goats so our house is rather noisy and I s'pose I'll have to get it too, sooner or later. A real workout for the immune system at 6 months anyway.

Think maybe my purees were a little bit lumpy for DD. She really went for the bought stuff I gave her today, and I was quite reassured. Anyone actually tried the Hipp apple and blueberry? So tasty I could have it on toast , no probs.

Georgina hope your hands, feet and mouths are OK.

Twiglett you are a rascal... sleeping through eh? what on earth is she thinking of?

Think I would rather miss my little overnight fixes of DD if she didn't remind me of her presence every 3 hours or so.

Susi Envy
DH is working from home, DD is multi tasking (play doh AND watching Teletubbies!) and DS is chewing the plastic mat under the play doh table.
Me? I'm conserving my energy for a high speed sprint around the Trafford Centre this evening, hoping to finish off our Christmas shopping....

SantasLittleEgypt · 09/12/2004 16:45

also Envy susi!

my christmas shopping went well yesterday. dd loved being with the neighbours and getting lots of attention from her children. she did cry when i left apparently. ahhh. i arrived home quite early, so i indulged and went for a glass of wine at the pub. bliss.

helsy, at 6 months they need a minimum of 18oz. i am sure that you are giving her much more than that with that many feeds. i worry about the same with my dd. she only takes an oz or 2 with her food. until recently she was making up for it at night, but of course i am trying to stop that. she has bf q well today. bit more fully. you're also giving it to her through her food too which is great. it all counts. as for coming home. as long as she gets your morning and eve bf and a bit with her lunch through food i wouldnt say its necessary to come home at lunch time tbh. if you're home by 3 anyway, thats another feed on top too.

SantasLittleEgypt · 09/12/2004 16:56

am i right in saying use the follow-on milk from now on? 6 months+ with extra iron.

SantasLittleEgypt · 09/12/2004 20:06

oh no,just read my bounty book and it says you can use that or carry on with usual formula. saying that was very impressed with dd today. she downed 6oz of sma progress! wow. never done formula in the day ever. and hasnt done formula at all in a big way for weeks. Grin

will try offering her a bit of that when she wakes if she doesnt settle.

right, off to bed before the cc time starts in a couple of hours...at least i hope.

kbaby · 09/12/2004 21:23

Think I could be in for a tough night tonight. ut DD to bed at 7.30 and she is still crying. Ive been checking on her every few minutes. Its not like her as normally she goes down ok.

Sorry had to go up again. That mustve been my 20th time.
Dp's out tonight for his xmas party so its typical shes ike this when im on my own esp as he will be too pissed to get up with her during the night.
Helsy weve put the books under the cot and I even boilt a kettle her her room last night hoping the steam may help. The doctor said its not a chest infection and so not much they can do.

Ok back again. Its taken me 30 mins to write this much. In the end I cuddled her to sleep. I kinda thought that as she snormally quite good maybe shes not feeling well. Ive given her medised and shes now asleep. If shes the same tomorrow night though then ill asume that shes gone back to old habits.
Melsy I was hoping that by doing CC the night wakings would stop. Do you still go to your lo at night then? im hoping to do cc over xmas but im hoping and praying she isnt ill at that time as its the only time off work i have to do it in. I give dd baby dannone yougurts. she seems to love them ive also started adding cheese to some of her food. Last night was beans, cheese and potato. Quite fancied it myself.
Egypt hope tonight goes well. I am thinking of you. Also hope your dad is feeling better.

Dds discovered standing and now I have a baby who wont bend in the middle to sit down.

Ive been listening to that blinking mobile in dd's room for so long tonight now im downstairs i can still hear it ringing in my ears.
DD has started doing this really strange thing. She gets on hand and knees but then tries to move forward by putting her foot on the floor and stretching it and lifting one side of her body but all she succeeds in doing is toppling herself over.

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 09/12/2004 21:36

dp came home at 7pm Shock; normally ds had dinner, bath and is asleep by that time :o - well, we managed all of it by 8!
didn't stir once.

re waking at nights: we had quite some troubles with ds waking at nights. he woke quite a few times but normally was fine with dummy and snuggleplanket and went back to sleep. he never cried as such, more whimpered. - had to scroll back; ds started about 2 wks ago to sleep through! not once before and we were on a avg. 4 times/night basis. - so heads up it will happen Wink

so, have to finish off the calendar i made with ds' pictures for his nanny! we'll meet up with her tomorrow.

Judd · 10/12/2004 09:41

Morning! Calm before storm - toddler group Christmas party this morning. Just wanted to say that there was a notice up at our Tumble tots this week asking for volunteers for a new TV show. Apparently Gina Ford is going to do a show (presumably a la Tania Byron/ Little Angels). Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait.
Although, as this is the only thread I can access, this is probably very old news and I am very boring..........Have a good day everybody!

SantasLittleEgypt · 10/12/2004 09:48

sounds like you have a crawler on your hands soon kbaby. hope you had a good night after all that.

dd has a dreadful cold,, bubbles coming out of her nose and running down her chin! never been that snotty before.

despite that, she went to bed very well at 7. woke at midnight. very snuffly. gave her medised and 2oz formula. stroked her tummy and she calmed down quickly. left and she slept until 730. bless her. typical. I on the other hand, went to bed at 830, couldnt sleep until after she'd woken at midnight. in fact, not until about 2am. woke at 6 with bursting boobs. expressed a bit and dh's alarm went off at 630. he made enough noise to wake the neighbours packing. he's off to skeggie for the w.e. so - i've had about 4 hours kip during the best night dd's had in a few weeks. can't have it all eh?

SantasLittleEgypt · 10/12/2004 10:17

ooooo judd that's exciting! are you a GF fan yourself?

shepherdswatchtheircatsbynight · 10/12/2004 10:58

Ooooh Judd- can i get involved with tv thingy? GF is my idol!

Just a quickie while i am diving into housework before my mujmy and baby group. Will write more later.

Egypt- Oh no, hopefully dd will have another good night tonight and so will you!

Libb- Are you around? is tonight still okay?
May give you a tinkle later on Smile

Hope everyones okay.
xxx

helsyjinglebellsy · 11/12/2004 11:22

The Gina Ford thing is on the BBC3 website. You email them if you're interested.
SLE, hope cc is still going well? Kbaby I hope last night was better.
Dd1 can now sit for about a minute without falling over, and "swims" to get things! According to my mum she had a couple of ounces of milk from a bottle yesterday so things are looking up. Am sitting at the computer with a baby on my knee and dd2 watching cbeebies behind me (bad mummy). DH has gone Christmas shopping and after my first week back at work I'm too shattered to do anything exciting with them, although dd1 and I are going to see Pinocchio this afternoon.

SantasLittleEgypt · 11/12/2004 17:41

hi - quick cc report, as it's taking over my life at the mo:

well, yes another good night. didnt need to do cc really. went down like a light at 6.45. woke at 5.30! Grin gave 2 oz of ebm. she was grizzling a bit. gave 2 oz of formula. chatted on and off for the next hour or so. woke at 730. bf then woke at 9. ahhhhhh. hope that bf at 730 didnt make her think 'ahh, i cried and mummy picked me up and fed me, i'll do that each time i wake tonight'. hope not. she was hungry, not wanting it for comfort. like her breakfast, but she just went back for a lie-in.

hope you are all well. x

jinglespots · 11/12/2004 20:05

Hello Mays. I've been off having Xmas show nightmares but it's ok now. DD has been my companion throughout! Sitting happily in her buggy playing with measuring tapes, chilling out with choreographers while I sweated blood in another room, reminding me that if it all goes t!ts up there are more important things in the world... God, what did I ever do before I had a baby?? She has also really started to get control over her own body, yesterday kneeling up to get at a ball on a string and climbing almost out of the bath!

Who has Xmas decorations up? Grab o rama...

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 12/12/2004 09:28

morning! had a busy weekend. lucas was brilliant. was out with his dad on thursday to visit friends and dp was just over the moon how well behaved ds was! the lady of the house wanted to keep him there - hmm, might consider that in a few years time Wink
friday morning we left early to see dp's mum up in kent. and we all together went shopping. veeeeery expensive. but funny enough all the things are for lo!!! we finally came home 8pm (bath and bottle at nans) and lucas went straight to bed. he still does cry out a few times at night but normally goes back to sleep really easily! saturday morning he slept till 9am!!!! Shock - saturday we went out again. had to pick up a pc dp bought and he also took us for lunch out :) - lucas was ever so funny. nicely sitting in his highchair and at the table next to us a couple was seated. lucas was with his back to them but that didn't bother him. he permanently turned around and grinned at that woman (dp and i think that he has a thing for blonde ones wink)!!
he still drinks only 2 bottles a day but he likes his food!!
activity wise he is getting confidenter with sitting up; also me thinks he is lazy sometimes - he prefers leaning against one of us! but he started doing that weird thing when on his tummy. lifts his chest high and goes on his toes with bum up high in the air! (sort of like press ups) but then he gets stuck and don't know what to do Grin - but very good with his "spin-the-bottle" trick!! with that and pushing backwards he can get anywhere he wants to!
lucas also is getting so observing! he wants to have a look at everything and he doesn't just put a book in his mouth as quickly as possible. he now actually looks at it first and tries to turn the pages! and he loves when i "read" it to him. - oh and atm he just loves to look into a mirror!!! he knows where ours is and whenever possible turns his head that direction and shouts until we go there and let him have a look! then he bashes it and laughs at our image!
oops sorry! didn't mean to go on and on about my boy - i think i just needed an update for myself. i just find it so amazing how quickly he develops from one day to the next!

TheHollyAndTheTwiglett · 12/12/2004 10:25

ahhh cute Egypt Grin

ok, hands up who hasn't got a daft christmas dressing up outfit

I've got a reindeer suit from mothercare (so has Georgina I've seen Grin) .. but she's wearing it every day from now til christmas as an outer

GeorginaAdventCalendar · 12/12/2004 10:52

CUTE RUDOLF! melt

Yes, we've got one too - but we got ours for ds1 when he was a baby so I feel like it's had some use Grin

Sorry I haven't updated much - not much news to impart. Well I probably have, but I'm too sleepy this morning to think of it!

SantasLittleEgypt · 12/12/2004 15:15

good, not just me then.

how did friday night go?

prufRockingAroundtheXmasTree · 12/12/2004 17:34

cat82 is a bad bad woman who made me drink a cocktail. She should have known that an old woman like me couldn't cope with mixing drinks.

But really - she is lovely. But my head hurt all day yesterday

jinglespots · 12/12/2004 20:50

How exciting - the first May meet... Want to know more!

DD had her first illicit taste of chocolate today. It's DH's birthday and he gave her a big chocolate coin to handle. Of course within moments it was being gripped by the vice like clawlet and gnawed by the little hot jaws, so the foil never stood a chance. She looked like a comedy chocolate baby, so utterly absorbed in the sugariness Shock!

Sheila the dentist has made her a grey fleece buggy snuggle and I have been having fun sewing shiny buttons on it with EXTRA STRONG THREAD so that DD has a good fiddle factory when we go out. Also a motif which I love, of a little grey mouse in a tartan dress and red clogs doing a dance. I am so happy about the buggy snuggle; have wanted one for ages!

Also DD is crazy for the old standing. She will do it holding only one hand if she's in a strong mood. Very sweet when she's got no nappy on, with the tails of her vest hanging down front and back. I think she is sort of gearing up for being a toddler now, no more little baby... Still pretty slow on the food though. Lots of breastfeeding. No hair. No teeth. Funny sort of toddler...

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 12/12/2004 21:19

he did it!!!!!! he rolled back for the first time everrrrrrrrrr - and we got to watch it too :o
ha! no excuses for him anymore Wink

and we had such fun at swimming today. lucas was great. paid attention and was splashing about and kicking his arms and legs. holding on to the sides of the pool - teacher was well impressed (lucas' 2nd time); she even told us to "dump" him
well, dp waited for that a long time! - poor lucas. he was quite shocked when he went under water Shock - but teacher said that's exactly the reaction we want. that makes them close their nose and mouth *hmmmmmmmmmmm
oh boy, you should have seen his face!!!
afterwards we went to starbucks for a hot chocolate and some cake - lucas got his first taste too Blush - well, we needed to warm him up and it was very exhausting!
and then we went to a local computer fair - dp is very much into all techy stuff; tell me a toy/tool/techy thing - i bet we've got it!
lucas was just so funny. i had him in my carrier on the front facing forward; it was really crowded but he just kicked his legs and waved his arms and shouted at everybody - was easy for me to go through :o

jinglespots · 13/12/2004 09:28

That's great Susi - Just what you were waiting for Grin. Suppose now the question is, did he remember he could do it himself when he woke up in the middle of the night?

GeorginaAdventCalendar · 13/12/2004 09:33

Anyone else back to nightmare sleeping?!

For the last few days ds2 has been really unsettled. Partly because of teething I think (so last night and night before we dosed him) as he's jamming his hands right into the back of his mouth, partly due to a cold (he's got a bit of a cough - not a nasty one yet, but we're keeping a close eye) but mainly because he keeps wriggling in his cot then getting himself WEDGED into strange positions.

Nighttime isn't as bad as daytime (thank god) but he does seem to be crying out for 2-3 minutes 3 or 4 times a night - not enough to warrant going in to see him, but enough that sleep is fractured.

Can't remember if ds1 used to do this or not!

helsyjinglebellsy · 13/12/2004 12:55

GeorginaAdvent Calendar, yes dd2 is also back to nightmare sleeping, due mainly to a bad cough and bad practices (coming into our bed at 4/5am) when she was ill a few weeks ago. At the moment she is waking at about 2am for about 3 hours and will NOT sleep unless she is in our arms or our bed! We can cope with the crying but she then starts to cough which is difficult (and unwise) to ignore, so one of us ends up picking her up. Desperate to get out of this pattern as we're now both back at work and shattered! Of course during the day (for my mum) she is fine - which means, apparently, that the nighttime waking must be our fault(grrr).
Am so busy that I didn't realise (or care!) that dd2, aged 4, who is now Mary in the school nativity, has been the centre of much controversy as a result. I don't think she'd noticed either - just heard it from a couple of other mothers so that's ok. Didn't know the nativity stirred up such strong emotions....

SantasLittleEgypt · 13/12/2004 15:21

oh yes, the nativity. as a primary school teacher (EX) i know! mums get their claws out, grrrrrr in the playground. (they're just jealous!)

yes back to nightmare sleeps too. i bf her last night which i swore not to do again, just because she wouldnt go back off with a little bottle and she has a cold. bless. mind you, we are getting through the small hours, like 12-5 ish undisturbed most night so not so bad. i however dont seem to be able to sleep so well. bought some nytol today to read that it says not recommended for bf. bugger
