Nice here eh? Seven is a lovely magic number.

DD has horrible cough off DH. They are both hacking away like nanny goats so our house is rather noisy and I s'pose I'll have to get it too, sooner or later. A real workout for the immune system at 6 months anyway.

Think maybe my purees were a little bit lumpy for DD. She really went for the bought stuff I gave her today, and I was quite reassured. Anyone actually tried the Hipp apple and blueberry? So tasty I could have it on toast , no probs.

Georgina hope your hands, feet and mouths are OK.

Twiglett you are a rascal... sleeping through eh? what on earth is she thinking of?

Think I would rather miss my little overnight fixes of DD if she didn't remind me of her presence every 3 hours or so.

LOL @ Prufrock ... "but second time round you do realise what hard work you made for yourself with the first. I mean - all you firsttimers actually play with your babies don't you"

we don't need to play with them as much because first child don't let us near a lot of the time

.. oh and DD has cut a tooth

.. I really must think about stopping bf

TheHollyAndTheTwiglett · 03/12/2004 18:50

trying to convince DD to NOT learn to crawl .. I prefer putting her down and knowing she'll stay (vaguely) in the same place .. she has made it across the lounge by rolling and turning round on her tummy (she's good at being a spinning top)

Judd · 03/12/2004 19:16

Oh Cat - sorry about Father Christmas! I think you should take DD definitely, as Bozza said it will be the only year that she will be sat cute and gorgeous on his knee. I'm sure nobody was sniggering at you taking her....are you sure you didn't have your skirt tucked in your knickers ?

TheHollyAndTheTwiglett · 03/12/2004 19:49

I would have sniggered I think .. sorry Cat .. but not meanly IYKWIM .. in recognition I think

SantasLittleEgypt · 03/12/2004 21:07

ahh, you have to take her cat. you'll have to hand around and wait for the queue to subside before making a dash for it!

happy anniversary too susi! how are you celebrating?

really do want to go and see my dad. may go in the week. would love to tomorrow but dh's aunt and uncle are coming over to swap pressies. they havent seen dd since she was 6 weeks old so couldnt nicely whip her away. feeling q down about it all really and wish i lived nearer. next w/e dh is going to skegness to play golf with is stepdad, my dad (who obv isnt going now)and my uncle, (who isnt either now!) mum was intending on coming to keep me company but she has to stay and look after dad and dad would rather i didnt travel with dd to come and see him 'in this weather'. the weather's fine. might just pick a good day next week and say sod it to dh and go.

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 04/12/2004 08:00

morning everybody!
had a weird night! no beeps from ds from 7pm-6am (!!!) but i woke up 100s of times , well, felt like that; but maybe 20 really

not much celebration as such; just snuggled up on the couch with a good movie and a nice talk and early bed

egypt: just go! dh will understand; just take care!

"..we don't need to play with them as much because first child don't let us near a lot of the time .." hmmm maybe should start thinking about nr. 2

G now the fun starts! ds did rolling onto tummy abouts 3mths; still can't roll back
but he stopped doing it at nights lately (just a week ago!) - and yes, still lots of whinging for mummy to turn him over

cat: glad you had a good time at meeting!
wow all pressies

GeorginaAdventCalendar · 04/12/2004 19:01

Well had a great night out last night with the midlands meet lot! And it was a bit of a first for ds2 too - he had his first bottle of formula - drank 7oz.

Part of me is really pleased - we'd been careful to give him formula mixed in cereal for the last few days so it wouldn't be too much of a shock, and we already knew he would drink from a bottle. Apparently, he didn't even react, just glugged away happily. I'm quite relieved that if I do go out or we want to go away for a day, ds2 would be fine and hopefully we won't get a repeat of when ds1 stopped breastfeeding cold turkey but wouldn't accept a bottle or formula as replacement - was a very stressful time.

Other part of me feels quite sad. Beginning of an end of an era? Not quite nice knowing you're so easily replaceable, is it?! Yes, I know, I'm being silly.

Ds1 wasn't very well last night though, I got home to find him in the bathroom with dh - seems that ds1 ate something bad yesterday or has some sort of sicky stomach bug. He hasn't been sick since the early hours of the morning, but has been off his food (unsurprisingly) all day, so we've let him watch loads of TV and eat what he fancied.

Ds2 has got INCREDIBLY mobile all of a sudden. He's twigged that rolling and twisting might not be the most direct route to what he wants but is a pretty effective method of movement. Going to have to be super vigilant now I think.

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 04/12/2004 20:24

evening! bit upset here; dp's got an old schoolfriend around staying over night and we were supposed to go out for dinner. but ds was so grumpy all day and seems like he's getting diff with strangers now (he wouldn't give friend one smile!!) and ds got so wingey and troubling the later the evening got that i offered to stay home with him! so dp is out now and i don't expect them back home anytime soon ; well, he needs it too!
off to see results for strictly come dancing; gotta empty the choccy box first

GeorginaAdventCalendar · 04/12/2004 20:30

Susi

Hope you got a decent takeaway out of it at least

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 04/12/2004 20:40

just got me another bacardi breezer

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 04/12/2004 20:41

well, i try to imagine what dp will get me at 2 in the morning full of beer
nawwww, better not!

SantasLittleEgypt · 04/12/2004 20:49

nah, cant be doing with that lately tbh. although dh is being nice and helped cook tea, opened a bottle of wine and his parents havent come to stay the night, so he may think he's onto a winner. think

dad is feeling a lot better today. pain has gone alhtough he has to wait until monday for the ct scan as they dont do them at w.e's. that's considerate.

dh's aunt and uncle came round and dd was all smiles. strange, she can sometimes scream her head off with stranger and sometimes loves them. think it is all to do with how they speak to her. he higher and sillier the 'heeellloooo' the better. any man's 'HELLO' in a low voice starts her howling

may try dd on formula again soon. she has it in her food but so far has refused a bottle.

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 04/12/2004 21:08

at least you got some "quiet" time egypt! you may have a point there. dp's friend's got a beard, maybe that's what holds ds back puzzled icon
dang! hope i won't get seriously ill on a weekend! how annoying is that
glad that your dad's feeling better

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 05/12/2004 22:04

evening! just waiting for steriliser to finish so i can make up the bottles and then off to bed.
had a hard day due to only 2 hours sleep last night! after dp left for boys night out i finally managed to fall asleep at 11pm (ds was fast asleep since 6.30) - at 12 dp with friend came back home and settled down in the conservatory with drinks. since i couldn't get back to sleep i joined them till finally 3am i could convience them to go to bed. then ds woke at 4 and was cooing and talking to i-don't-a-clue for about 30min and decided at 6am that he was ready for the day! phewwwwww, was like a robot all day! and dp not much help with his headache and being sick :o
but again, no sympathy for him pffff
he did try so!

hope everybody had a lovely weekend and that all the sick mums/babies are well again!

lucas is very vocal lately!!! babbles, screams and cooes all day long; and very loud :o - woke even dp briefly who normally sleeps through an earthquake!

GeorginaAdventCalendar · 06/12/2004 09:05

Feel terrible today.

Think ds1's sicky episode Friday night was a bug of some sort.

I think this, because now both me and dh are feeling sick this morning.

Chain drinking water and sitting close to the bathroom...

SantasLittleEgypt · 06/12/2004 10:57

georgina there is a terrible bug doing the rounds. dh had it, gave it to his stepdad and mum.. luckily we avoided it . mums and babes at baby group had it, even the hospitals have it. leicester have it. norwich where my dad is is having its wards closed to public from today as patients are coming down. waiting to hear from dad today to see if he has it as mum cant visit. not nice. if its that strain its coupled with a temperature too. do hope you are better soon.

neighbour is bringing round b&w pics she took of dd and i last week. very excited!!! we have a little routine of late, 11, 3, 6, 9.30 wakings. kind of do-able.

MerryMetrobaby · 06/12/2004 12:59

Hi - I'm on the April mums thread but wondered if I could ask you fellow May mums to sign this petition. I started a separate thread about it \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1367&threadid=47316\here}

SantasLittleEgypt · 06/12/2004 16:32

of course x

shepherdswatchtheircatsbynight · 06/12/2004 16:41

Hi everyone!

Okay..i must be loosing my mind. I only just found this thread on active conversations. I could not find it under parenting!

Oh Georgina poor you, get well soon honey xx

Susi- sounds like you had a fun night Smile

Egypt- so pleased your dad is getting better.

Okay so who is coming on Friday? and what venue and time?!

Hope you're all okay
xxxx

ChristmasBOOZA · 06/12/2004 22:44

Have done metrobaby.

Hope you're feeling better Georgina. The same thing happened to DH and me a couple of weeks ago thanks to DD.

DH is taking DD for her 7 month check in the morning (9.30 am). I've got DS for his 3.5 year check recall at 4 pm. So quite a bit of juggling work. So going to bed now!

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 07/12/2004 07:50

what a lovely sunrise :o
and ds' just gone down for his morning nap! well he woke at 5 already :(
but he seems to be over his ill days and all happy again! still rubbing his ear though!
been to baby signing yday; was fab! first time ds actually paid good attention and interacted with others! at the beginning i sat him on the blanket to a little girl. and they started touching each other and holding hands :o
well, she was only after his shoe and ds only wanted to take off her cape - don't they start early :o

ChristmasBOOZA · 07/12/2004 08:42

LOL Susi. Took DD to see her little cousin (he's 9 weeks) on Sunday and she went into attack mode. Trying to grab his slipper and put it in her mouth - never mind thats its still on his foot.

Hope your DS's sleeping habits improve. My DS used to wake up at 5 at this age, but now he's 3 and has been doing 7.30 to 7 or later for ages. Have instructed DH to mention DD's nighttime antics to health visitor. Thing is I know that she doesn't really need feeding in the night but I seem to need somebody to tell me that. Actually she went through until 20 to 5 yesterday but I really stuffed her with couscous at 6.30 last night!

SusiUnderAMistletoe · 07/12/2004 11:07

ok bozza - listen: dd doesn't need feeding at nights anymore!!! :o - did it work???

Shock till he is 3yrs??? i hope he learns sooner!

SantasLittleEgypt · 07/12/2004 12:23

yes, you need to tell me that dd doesnt need feeding at night too. was talking to a mum at baby group this morning who was trying to tell me the same thing and to get tough. got to try it tonight. told dh to help me last night and to give dd a bottle of a little ebm when she woke just to see if she will accept it from someone else. thinking about when we go to prague - without her Sad. but the b*tard went to bed at 1015 after a bit of a tiff with me. she woke at 11. he didnt stir. i huffed and puffed and decided to do it myself, whilst stomping around the kitchen and banging doors. she wouldnt take it, yelled her head off. wouldnt settle - gave in and bf her. still wouldnt settle. gave in and bf her more. slept. god, its awful. he is such a pratt. dont know if he could actually hear her or whether it was selective hearing. but he left this morning whilst i was pretending to be asleep and did kiss me and tell me he loved me. pratt.

prufRockingAroundtheXmasTree · 07/12/2004 13:50

Our thread's gone missing!

Cat - Still up for Friday night - my friend will be driving back after bathtime, then I will help her two and can stay there as long as necessary for you an libb to get your glad rags on.

As I don't know Cambridge at all you will have to suggest a venue. If you both don't smoke, can we please go somewhere non smoky so I won't be tempted? If you do smoke, then lets go somewhere smoky so I can indulge :) I'll be getting the train back so if there is anywhere nice on the station side of town that would be good - although I could always get a cab.
