Hi all,

Cant believe babies are crawling and standing already..Mae is only just rolling over, Lazy bones..Lily was the same though so not too fussed..

Pebble..men can be so infuriating at times..DH and I are also not having a great week for getting on..
But this is due to his total lack of common sense..Par example..On Thursday night he was going out after work..Due to the fact that he lost his keys about a year ago and hasnt has new ones cut yet he says to me on Wednesday evening, 'I need to take a key'.'Take the back door key' I say, and I will leave the garden gate off the latch so you can get in'No no'he says, 'I'll sort it out'This was the last that was said about it..Thursday afternoon, out we are going to the childminders. It is teeming it down with rain so I go out to the car first with M, leaving Lily sitting on the window seat where she can see us, so as not to have her hanging about on the pavement getting wet as I buckle M in..I shut the door behind me to prevent hall floor getting wet, but this is Ok I think as I have the house key on my car key..Having put baby in back of the car, I go to get Lily. But on arrival at the door I find I dont have the house key on my car key fob where it always is, as numpty DH has taken it off and NOT TOLD ME....I now have a toddler locked in the house and a baby crying in the car.No phone as its in the change bag, in the house with Lily...I had to go the builders two houses down, get a ladder to scale the garden gate which was locked, and after 20 mins trying to get Lily to try to get the back door key out of the lock by advising her from the cat flap (bless her she tried but isnt quite tall enough, but was quite impressed at her even understanding enough to have a go as she is only just 2) had to get a stick off a tree and bash the key through the cat flap till it fell out..By this time both kids were hysterical and I was soaking wet! When I told DH he said, 'Why didnt you check your keys?' WHY WOULD I?!
I beg of you...

TYG-Have started to give M lumpier puree now, but only really weaned her at the beginning of Jan so dont want to go too fast..suffice to say my sterlizing days are at an end!I did it far too long with Lily and for some reason was falling into the same trap with M..am giving my sterilizer away to my friend who is due in May soon..(well obviously till I need it again for the 3rd of my proposed 9 children...am trying to match lgandt!)

Thats good about your nursery not telling you re milestones AM..My CM does the same, but My Mother phoned DH and I when we were on a weekend away to tell us Lily had taken her first steps..which I was gutted about and spent the rest of the time wanting to get back to see..and of course then she didnt bother again for about another month!

Have they said they will put you on pills then MtoCM?

Have lost half a stone on detox since Jan 2nd!Yay, may not have to buy all new work clothes after all!(But Boy do I want chocolate and gin!)

juliewoolie · 20/01/2008 19:55

hello lovely ladies,

Benson hoping the pox is better.

TYG grrr at lucky DH going skiing second yr in a row I cant ski well actually apres ski

Pebble hope things are getting better with DH they can be a pain in the arse.

M22LB your little men are gorgeous they both look so grown up.

M2CM well done on giving up the fags - I used to be a 20/day and gave up when pregnant with Archie have to admit have slipped a few times since having him especially when I have had a few sherbets but I can say the best thing to do is not put pressure on yourself. Say yes I am going to give up but dont beat yourself up if you have the occasional one.

SKY great news on the scan am booked in for one on Feb 1st when I will be 12 weeks, feeling tip top at the mo morning sickness disappeared and no tiredness trying to stay optomistic that everything is ok am a bit of a pessimist.

LG&T hows Beau doing running yet? A is driving me bonkers he is desperate to crawl and is getting mightily pissed that he cant move yet.

After deciding that we were going to stay put for a year, we saw the most fab house today. Just randomly driving through a village. We didnt even see the inside just the outside and a peer through the windows it was empty Its soooo nice, new build never thought I would like that- big lounge, big kitchen diner, 4 bedrooms, ensuite lovely garden. And it back onto a vicarage so no chance of the land being sold to developers is in a lovely village as we drove to it we had to drive thorough a ford and up a little lane, 2 minute walk from a great village school but with fab links to the city for DP.
45 mins on the train. Please Please Please can we scrape together the money to live there will have to forego holidays for a year and we wouldnt be able to afford to decorate straight away but as we drove back into ghetto central tonight the 2 of us were almost in tears (much as i love living in London tis no place to raise my little munchkin).

Right ramble over.

Big wave to everyone.

Oh has anyone seen the news in Kenya its getting rough again hope Cam is ok.

juliewoolie · 20/01/2008 19:59

xpost with scoot. we must have both been writing for the last half an hour

way hey on the weight loss I am now officially huge

scootermum · 20/01/2008 20:03

Oooh, wherabouts was it Julie? It sounds luuurvely..We were like you..I liked it in London but the only bit we could afford to buy in was Tottenham, which was fine for just us but didnt fancy dodging the muggers with my pram, so we moved out to the country before we had Lily bean..but we are near enough to be able to go into town whenever we like so its best of both I reckon..

Have emailed you on your other address hon..also you TYG..

scootermum · 20/01/2008 20:05

Yes, I got a bit concerned when I saw the news re Kenya too..but she is surely in some expat compound type thing so safe?

juliewoolie · 20/01/2008 20:15

in a little village in >> Essex!! Am such a snob

scootermum · 20/01/2008 20:21

Well both my girls are Essex girls as they were born in Harlow, (nearest hosp to us though we are in Herts but only just)I am the only one out of two baby groups that went there though..everyone else went to Welwyn Garden City so they wouldnt have to go to Essex..absurd!
Im all for Essex, its tons cheaper than Herts because people are mad about white stilletoe jokes and all that, but theres absolutely no difference of course!

scootermum · 20/01/2008 20:56

I have just found out that James McElvoy whom as some of you may recall, I have a humungous crush on, lives in Stroud Green which is about 10 minutes from my work and where I often go to asess old people for my service..I wonder if I hang aroud the local Budgens (where he apparently shops) could I engineer a meeting with him?

I wonder if he would get a restraining order out on me?More than likely I fear...

juliewoolie · 20/01/2008 20:58

I know i am just being a snob having spent most of my teenage years in Harpenden, you get abit blinkered to anywhere else. We did look at Herts ages ago and could afford a shoebox so decided against it.

scootermum · 20/01/2008 21:23

Well move out to 't' country..I will bob round with my wellies and we can make Jam or some such..

Off to Bed now..I have Lilys Bumps and Babes group coming tomorrow and will have to get up early to clean the total pig sty that is our house..or at least the bits people will see

cinnamontam · 20/01/2008 21:52

Hello lovelies...been reading through the last few pages to see where everyone is at.

Pebble - I'm sorry about your DH. My DH can be a bit unhelpful at times but I don't get any of the nasty comments and slurs thrown at me like you've been getting So angry on your behalf.

Benson - poor little A. I can't imagine the frustration of not being able to give all those itchy spots a bloody good scratch. I did when I got chickenpox at 15 and of course have some lovely scars as a result but damn it felt good at the time.

Julie, TYG, Sky - so exciting about your LO's on the way. I am so clucky but now is just not a good time for us

We are really struggling with our mortgage on DH's salary so I have to return to work in 5 weeks. All I want to do is howl and vomit at the thought of leaving my Tild and going out. I WANT to be a SAHM but the only way we can do that is by selling up and moving into cheap rental and we don't want to do that so I suppose sacrifices have to be made.

I've found some contract work till the end of the year as I can't afford to go back to the old job and pay a nanny on that salary. It will be 3 days a week and I'm sure we will be fine. Interviewed nanny's yesterday and we've found one we really like. But the stress of telling my current boss I'm not going back, setting up the new work, finding a nanny, living off the coins in our £2 jar is stressing me to the max. I can't sleep and I'm having dizzy spells which is classic stressed behaviour for me.

However at the end of the day I have the most beautiful daughter and a DH who loves me and we will make it work. Got to be happy about that

cinnamontam · 20/01/2008 21:53

Scoot - hello
Can't believe your DH took off with your key. What a .......MAN!

largeginandtonic · 21/01/2008 09:56

Scoot i'm on my way with pitch fork in hand, what a complete nightmare! I have been in similar situations before, all my fault though

I remember particularly one time i had left the house with Jonah to get Phin from playschool. I was late and i was about 8 months pregnant with Hugs I strapped him in to the car and realised i had forgotten the keys. Could not get back in the house. Had to unstrap baby and walk ( along way) round the back of the house carrying baby (lardy) to open the back gate. The gate was locked. I then walked all the way back round the house and knocked on various neighbours door's (all out) till i found one who had just pulled up in his whaite van (i did not know him)I asked him to accompany me round the back of the house so i could scale the wall and retrieve keys (hoping back door was unlocked) He duly followed giving me funny looks all the way. I asked him to hold the baby so i could scale the wall at which point he suggested (seeing as i was 8 months preganant and in flip flops) that it may be best if he scaled the wall. I agreed.

He jumped over the wall and opened the gate. I tried the back door i thought would be most likely to be open. It was not. As i walked accross the deck (v slippy) i slipped and threw Jonah in the air, he caught him and one arm on me (hero)I tried the other door, success!! Relief on mans face.

I whizzed through house and picked up Phin. As i came back through the door i noticed in the vast mirror in the hall that i had a huge blue stripe across my forehead I had been decorating cakes before i left the house (hence my lateness)

The poor guy must have thought i was utterly bonkers. That i am....

Hope that made you all chuckle, my frinds did for weeks.

Julie glad you feel better, about time too. With another one to look after it must be hellish feeling like that. I have never had such a close age gap so have no idea. The house sounds lurvely

Cinnamon sorry to hear you have to go back to work, i'm sure Tilda will be fine.

I have been watching the news too, the house she showed us in her profile did not look like a safe compound house did it? >

Pebblemum · 21/01/2008 11:42

Morning all.

Things arent too bad with dh at the moment although he did go all funny and sulk like a 10yr old last night because he couldnt go to the pub. He had promised to spend all weekend with us. I just ignored him and after a while he skulked back in the room apologising and admitting he had been acting like a prat.

M2LB your boys are gorgeous. I was looking at Alana cruising along the sofa earlier and felt quite sad, our babies are growing so fast. I dont know about Cruz but Alana still looks too small to be standing, let along trying to walk

Im glad im not the only one to go out without keys although unlike Scoot its normally always my fault lol. When my sister was about 2 my parents lived in the top floor of a block of flats (about 8 storeys high) and my mum popped out onto the balcony to hang washing on their small line, leaving my dsis in the front room where my grandad was asleep, she thought it would be ok, she had done it several times before. This time though my dsis closed the door and managed to lock it, my poor mum was shut out on the balcony while my dsis smiled at her from inside and then went off to play in her bedroom. It took my mum almost 20mins to wake my grandad so he could let her back in We are sure she knew what she was doing, she was a little devil then

Pebblemum · 21/01/2008 11:44

Ive been wondering about Cam too, hope they are all ok

mom2latinoboys · 21/01/2008 12:53

I lock myself out at least once a month. My all time favorite was last winter. My mom was visiting my sister and I had to go to her house to feed the animals. Well I left got home, put Mateo to sleep, and decided to take the dog out. Well I forgot that I had locked the door. So Mateo was inside sleeping with my burning Mac and cheese. Dh was working late an the only place that there were extra keys was at my moms. So I got in her car, luckily I left the keys in it, drove to her house, and got my keys. Got home and everything was fine. Dh still doesn't know that happened.

Oh then there was the time when Mateo was a month old. Again I was walking the dog, but I had Mateo in the Snugli. Well I locked myself out. So instead of knocking on the door to call for help you know what I did. . .I took my baby and my dog and walked the six miles to my moms house.

I'm an idiot about stuff like that.

mom2latinoboys · 21/01/2008 12:55

I just realized that Mateo (that little rascal) changed the alarm clock yesterday. Dh woke up and was upset that his alarm didn't go off. Well let's just say that this little guy moved the time up an hour. So instead of being late, he was an hour early.

twelveyeargap · 21/01/2008 14:04

Hello

Poor A. She's been restless the last couple of nights - waking up, moaning, crying etc. Couldn't understand why I couldn't feel any teeth coming and have just realised I've been looking in the wrong place. She has her two lower central incisors and I was expecting the upper two to come next. It appears that her two upper side incisors have decided to come first. I know they don't always appear in the usual order but I can't help worrying that she's not going to get two teeth. I don't have any adult lower incisors; I still have my baby teeth. (They won't last much longer either...) It's some sort of genetic defect. Worry, worry. I also had a really big gap between my top two teeth as a child, which only closed as I got the late molars and of course I'm also thinking that she might have an infeasibly large gap. I'm not usually a worrier.

I er, trimmed her hair last night. Started just trimming the fringe which was in her eyes and then thought I'd nip off the raggy bits at the back. She has a very attractive bob now - it's gorgeous - really grown up looking, but DH is going to go absolutely mad when he sees it. It's a good centimetre shorter at the back. He made me swear I wouldn't touch it. I'm going to be seriously in the dog house.

Got DD1 measured for a bra in John Lewis yesterday. She's a 32D! Big boobs runs in the family, obviously. Bought her three new bras and some pants and a bra and some pants for me and ended up forking out £90-odd. Ouch.

AprilMeadow · 21/01/2008 18:11

Hi there, just a quick one as feeling like death! Up twice last night with sickness and the other Only problem was that when i vommed i passed out

Anyway just wanted to let you know that i have been texting Cam today. They are all ok and the kids love their school. J is almost crawling and she has had a few comments on his size She hopes to be back online by the end of the week. She has a maid and the house is huge but should fill up once all furniture arrives.

Catch you all later

cinnamontam · 21/01/2008 19:58

TYG - sorry to hear about A. I laughed when you wrote about her haircut. I trimmed Tilda's the other night but got distracted and realise I've only done one side. So the other side still has these weird long bits of baby hair that have been very slowly growing since she was born. Must get round to it otherwise if she ever starts crawling she'll probably just go round in circles.

AM - there are some revolting bugs going around. Really hope you feel better soon.

Great news about Cam. Fingers crossed things stay peaceful for them all

MT2LB - I'm so scared of locking myself out the house with Tild (did it twice when i was preggers) I keep giving various people copies of our house keys. If I give out any more there won't be any point even locking the place

SKYTVADDICT · 21/01/2008 21:37

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well AM.

Great news that Cam is ok.

TYG - my due date is 08.08.08 and it has been suggested that if I give birth at 08.08 in the morning we will make the news! Do I really want to??

I put C to bed about half an hour ago and he usually cries for a while then I go in. When I went in he was sitting up . That is a first. It took me ages to rock him to sleep after that!!

Juicylucytoo · 21/01/2008 22:26

Is it too late for Christmas wishes:

  1. I want my baby to sleep through the night at least once sometime soon.
  2. I want to be pregnant with a sibling for O.

What does 8 hours sleep feel like again????

Other than that all fine here

Juicylucytoo · 21/01/2008 22:27

BTW - Julie, what are you thinking - you can't desert me for Essex!!!!

Shame on you

twelveyeargap · 21/01/2008 23:02

AM - Poor you. How horrible to pass out as well as get sick.

at Tilda's asymmetric hair. I also did that with A last night, but fixed it this morning. Something to do with how it looked wet, vs dry me thinks. DD1 has confirmed that the shortness is really noticeable and that DH will be furious.

Juicy, is O still taking a full feed in the night? If not, or if you're still BF and not sure, then you could try not going in/ picking him up for about 5-10 mins. He may just settle back down again.

A only started sleeping through the night after I started FF. Not anything to do with the milk, just that I could see she was only having a few ounces and therefore I knew she wasn't really hungry - it was a waking habit. Once I stopped going to her, she stopped waking, except where teething pain has woken her.

Also, if he's not in his own room; would you consider it? (If you have space.) I think we can disturb babies (unless you co-sleep, which works differently). Also, if they're in your room you wake at every sound. If they're in their own room, you only wake when they're properly crying and need you. I don't even use a monitor. Only use it if I've had a couple of drinks and might sleep heavily.

Erm, what else... My sleep bible says that babies may need night feeds up til about 9 months, but after that then they can/ should be weaned off them as their bodies can certainly sustain them all night and night feeds (again unless co-sleeping) may start to cause a sustained waking habit.

largeginandtonic · 22/01/2008 08:16

AM poor you my lovely! Did dh pick you up off the bathroom floor? Hope you feel better soon.

How fantabulous to hear from Cam, i have been worried about her. A maid indeed... am going to look up flight costs today for a visit

TYG i would be furious too, i am ridiculously over protective when it comes to hair on babies. Jonah (at 5) has only just been allowed to have his hair cut. Hugo is a long way off yet. You are a very bad girl. However your fantastic wifely duties of late my eclipse this and d may be ok Did you make the Bounty cake? Oh it is delish

B is still waking up in the night too, usually between 4-630. He needs to STOP. I had to come down the stairs twice last night too as both J and P were up dresses and ready for school watching tv at 4 feckin 30 I mean full marks for being ready for school but...

I feel like crap, a cold again. I also have a totally deaf laft ear, it is sooo annoying

Pebble how goes it?

JL wahoo another trying too! I have been lurking on those ttc threads and seen FurtivelyPosting there, so she must be trying too. My ovulation sticks are still showing up a faint green line so no LH surge yet... I am practising though (except last night cos i'm too poorly )
