Happy New Year to you all.

Spent last night watching Take That on tv. I was pointing out to dh where i was sat when i went and where i infact should have been sat.

Ds is on Vallergan to help get him into a sleep pattern, but he seems to be immune to it Should take 15mins to work and then should let him sleep all night, BUT it doesnt work. It makes him restless and each night it takes longer to work. Am not bothering anymore as I dont want to give him drugs for the sake of it. Back to the dr's me thinks.

Cam, poor you on the hangover front. I darent have anything to drink otherwise i think 1 drink would have me on the floor Saw your problem on the news this morning. Hope it calms down a bit before you get there

largevirginbirthandtonic · 01/01/2008 12:19

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Hope you are all not nursing hideous hangovers this morning.

I was in bed by 9, i have flu. I picked up the kids on Saturday morning and drove home in a fug. Went downhill from there and have mostly been in bed since. Bugger, hate being ill and have never had flu before.

Julie so sorry to hear you are sick, it must be awful looking after a poorly A and feeling rough yourself. Just remember it wont be forever and you will get a gorgeous little bundle for all your trouble. I cant wait It does sound like A is teething, get the medised out and make sure you dose him regularly. Give the baby coke too.

AM hope you got some bargains in the sales, iwas just saying to dh yesterday that it is like torture, all spent out from Xmas and then all the sales! How is your boob? Keep an eye on it, it could be a blocked duct and as you wont be feeding off the blockage it may get infected. Hot and cold alternate compresses should ease it, take paracetemol too.

Cam what a nightmare for you all, i hope they sort themselves out soon. I think we take it for granted in this country the calmness of elections. It is so different in other places and must be very scary if you are amongst it all. On the bright side we get you for another few days

Abby it is having small children that make life seem momotonous sometimes, they have no appreciation for what you are doing. The only thing to do is make time for you and your dh to break the same old same old.

MKG i thank you for your cookie recipie, i will store it in my cookie book with immense pride I do lurve cookies. Glad your mom is back safe and sound despite being broke and mainly full of peas Did she bring you back anything typically British? Did she fall in love with anything we can send you over for her?

MrsJB your kitchen is fantastico! Cant wait to visit and play

My eyes are blurring (again) and i feel the shivers coming on, i think doing the hoovering was a step too far

Just a quick note... the Wii is fantastic, the kids are great at it and dh has Rock Ledgends III and loves it! I want Mario Galaxy or Cooking Mamma. Right words swimming...

largevirginbirthandtonic · 01/01/2008 12:21

Also Pink, Phin would like Lexie to come and stay. She is sooo sweet.

Hello there. Haven't been here for aaaaaaaages but couldn't resist popping in when I saw the thread title! I haven't read the whole thread (forgive me - it's 10 pages long already - you have been chattering away so some things never change!) so I'd be grateful if you could tell me who's knocked up again. It's very exciting news!

We've decided to go for it again and I've been getting back into the old charting for the past few months. Last month I started using OPKs for the first time (they seem to be making things more confusing at the moment but I'm sure I'll get the hang of them soon). All we need to do is sell our house (DH finally agreed to put it on the market and, as luck would have it, the market then completely died around here ), get ourselves moved and we're away.

While I'm here, can I ask you guys a question? I go back to work next month - I chose to go back before my SMP runs out because our maternity policy states that to be entitled to maternity pay and leave, employees have to have been in paid service for a year before the EDD. So I reckon that if I'm still recieving SMP, that means I'm on paid leave and therefore still in paid service, doesn't it? Because I haven't taken any unpaid leave? What do you reckon?

anneme · 01/01/2008 12:42

Happy new year all - have not been on for ages and have just spent about 40 mins catching up so now need to go and make lunch! Sounds like it has been rather up and down for all over the past weeks - 2008 will be brilliant though!
xx

AprilMeadow · 01/01/2008 14:11

LG&T sorry to see that you are still suffering. Not nice at all. Dh went to the dr's yesterday and got told he had the end of an ear infection and the beginning of a chest infection.

Boob has now gone back to normal. Must have been a blocked duct, was blinking painful though.

Am loving my Nintendo ds, have now managed to 'train' Daisy to lie down and am working on roll over and spin.

Ella has a new trick of her own, pulling herself onto her knees. She is very pleased with herself She put her hand out and when i was holding it (lightly) she got herself onto her feet I cant believe how quickly the time is going. Back to work in 2 weeks She is chattering a lot to herself as well which is also very cute

largevirginbirthandtonic · 02/01/2008 13:09

FP it is Twelveyeargap (now barely twelvemonthgap) SkyTV and JulieWoolie. Some of us it seems are hot on their tails with much

Who were you? My brain is fug like, sorry.

I still feel crap but the day and night nurse seem to be holding off the worst of the symptoms now. I'm glad i have stopped bf or i wouldnt have been able to take anything!

Kids go back to school tomorrow, boo hoo. Blardy school run and hum drum all over again, must plan something exciting to do.

Cam how is it all now? Any news yet? You must be going mad waiting.

MKG · 02/01/2008 14:16

LG&T my mom did not bring me back anything. She said everything was so exensive. But she also went with my cousin who just wanted to go see the shows. So she saw hairspray, Les miserables (for the 5th time) and Fiddler on the roof. No offense, but we have broadway and she could have seen all those here. My mom is a little upset that she went and that's all my cousin wanted to do. They did not go for tea anywhere. (Hello England=tea) and she did not even walk through Harrods. If it were me I would have traded Shakespeares house for some shopping.

FurtivelyPosting · 02/01/2008 15:34

Thanks LGT - I had guessed Sky but have been trying to put aside 20 minutes to go through the rest of the thread to spot the others. As I'm sure you know, it's not always easy to find that time when you've an 8 month old who's into everything during the day and then an 11 year old who hogs the computer during the evening!!

I feel the loud and clear! We've decided to ttc again but need to sell up and move first, really. It's taking an age to sell though and I'm getting increasingly concerned because I'm not getting any younger and I'm not a spring chicken to begin with! So, I've started charting again and using OPKs - my periods are still a bit all over the place, even though I stopped breast feeding a couple of months ago. According to the OPKs, I didn't ovulate last month but my temperature chart suggests that I did. At least I can get to the bottom of it and work out whether I can still actuallt conceive while we're waiting to sell the house. It's just taking far too long for my liking........

Mrsjaffabiffa · 02/01/2008 16:10

Afternoon all.

FP you are giving some clues but I still can't work out who you are. Good Luck with your ttc, I hope you and the others trying see that BFP soon. [you're all mad emotcion]

We still have visitors here until Saturday. I'm desperate to get the dec's down and the house square again it's driving me mad, but not easy with a house ful still. Am back off to the dr's this evening. Jorja still has her cough and an on and off temp, she's finished a weeks course of antibotics which have not helped her cough really but have made her bum so sore it's bleeding. Maddie is now poorly with the same thing that H had, and I need to sort my pill out. I am unhappy with the mini pill, my periods were so irregular with it and lasting for about 2 weeks I stopped it about a month ago, So am going to go back on the combined pill. Am now desperate to have a period to put my mind at ease from having a months break [crapping it emotcion]
Poor dr, might as well make it a job lot whilst we are there.

Cam, I hope things improve soon out there and you have some answers soon. Thanks for the link to that thread, I have posted for her.

Mine don't go back to school til Monday, H is really looking forward to it. Maddie starts Ooops did I say that out loud.

Well done Ella, she's going to be walking soon, AM how scary. Bet she's walking when you come here in March, hehe that'll be fun.

Lg&t I hope you feel better soon, I am with you on the Wii it is fun. I hate computer games usually but have quite enjoyed whipping dh's backside at golf on the odd ocassion. lol

largevirginbirthandtonic · 02/01/2008 16:33

FP ...

MrsJB the decs will be down tomorrow, enough already i say! B's antibiotics have also made his bum incredibly sore, we managed to save it using Bepanthen (magic) do you have the excellent 'spray on' nappy cream thingy that other french friend i have rave about? I can send you over some Bepanthen otherwise. Maddie off to school wow, all i need is Hug's ensconced at Playschool and life could be bliss

We are all slaying having fun with the tennis on the wii.

AprilMeadow · 02/01/2008 18:36

we have the bleeding/very sore bottom here as well. I put it down to teething, poor little mites.

StarlightStarbrightSKYTVtonite · 02/01/2008 20:43

Hello all and Happy New Year

We had an ok Xmas and New Year, quite quiet really just visiting family.

C also got a very sore bum with what looks like blisters. His cold came back and he has had a temperature all day but he is in bed now. Hopefully for the night!

I have been spotting a bit on and off since the weekend but went for my booking in appt. on Monday. I got booked in and will just have to wait for the scan but I'm not really holding out much hope as I've never spotted before, I don't have any pain though so you never know. Watch this space!

cameroonmama · 02/01/2008 21:08

oh Sky, I hope everything is ok, keeping my fingers crossed.

LG&T I hope you are feeling better. This Wii business is starting to sound like fun

MrsJB, I do so love the way the French love to send their children to school so early It has given my two a real love of school I hope you are all feeling better soon too.

Lots of sore bots, poor little things, J seems to be sore under his willie on his scrotum and whenever his nappy is off he claws at this bit, we cover it in Sudo when it is most red in the evening and it seems to get better by the morning but could this just be because of teething? Also I wanted to ask how much daytime sleep are the bubbas doing now? When undisturbed J will do 2 hours in the morning and 2 in the afternoon - is this too much do you think? He is still waking at least once at night.

We are on tenterhooks waiting to see what will happen in Nairobi tomorrow. I think we are pretty much set on going on Saturday whatever. There is only so long you can live at your IL house... It is a big house but they have so much stuff, ds1 has already fallen down the stairs backwards, bumped into a door frame narrowly missing the plate glass window and today gashed his cheekbone on the corner of a dresser and has ended up with the worlds largest black eye and egg on his cheek People are soon going to start questioning my parenting skills Also they seem to eat so much, I swear I have put on a couple of pounds already. My bil came and picked up our car today to take it back to Manchester and he is going to try and sell it for us as I have been rubbish and not found anyone down here. So it now means we are without a car, in the middle of the countryside -eek! However we are hoping for some snow tomorrow to liven things up Knowing our luck it will probably end up closing the airport

FurtivelyPosting · 02/01/2008 21:30

Sky - try not to worry too much (I know that's easier said than done of course). I had spotting in all of my pregnancies and quite a few spotting episodes during my last one. I know you said that you haven't experienced it before but it is quite common and lots of women do experience it. Keeping my fingers, legs and eyes crossed for you. Do let us know how you're getting on.

Sorry everyone - I thought I'd posted my old name but obviously I just thought about it and that thought didn't make it as far as my typing fingertips! I wasn't deliberately trying to be mysterious!! Chances are you won't remember me anyway as I didn't post that much and haven't posted in ages. My old username was Creena and I had my third baby as part of the May 07 ante natal group. There's a big age gap between the littlest one and my older too. I live in Staffs but am currently trying to sell our house and move to Shropshire. I work for a NDPB with the charity/voluntary/third sector (or at least I will be when I have to go back in February ). Erm, can't think of any other details that might jog your memory.

I changed my name a little while ago when I had a pregnancy scare (turned out to be a false alarm) and had a bit of a panic about how I would cope with two little ones and how DH would react. I posted anonymously to ask for advice. Although it caused a panic at the time, it did lead to us talking and thinking about the future and trying for one more addition to our brood before I turn into a wizened husk of an old crone for good! So some good came out of the experience.

FurtivelyPosting · 02/01/2008 21:32

Look at that shocking grammar! I meant to say "older two" of course....

MKG · 02/01/2008 22:10

Creena I remember who you are. It hasn't been that long. I'm in need of a name change myself.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 02/01/2008 22:28

Creena, woo hoo of course we remember you. It's lovely to have you back on.

It won't work MKG, you'll always be MKG, look at SOH she has tried a few times!! Never works.

Pebblemum · 02/01/2008 22:53

Evening and Happy New Year to you all.

Ive been tryin to catch up since we got back from Disney on New Years Eve but there have been so many posts and things have been pretty hectic here that I have only just managed it.

We had a great Christmas, Alana was the first one up at 6.30am and she was bouncing about and giggling as if she knew what was going on lol. Everyone was thoroughly spoilt, the boys have hardly got room to move in their room at the moment because of all the toys and games (will be having a secret clear out while they are at school) Alana only managed 1hour sleep Christmas day and didnt go to bed until 10.30pm but she was happy and smiley all day so it didnt bother us. She also started to crawl properly ie forwards and on her knees instead of backwards and on her toes as she had been doing, there is no stopping her now.

We had a great time at Disney, Ethan enjoyed it a lot more this time around. His main aim was to get his photo taken with as many characters as he could. I made a total arse of myself in front of pluto and a large crowd. I stepped back to get a better shot and fell arse over tit into the bushes, everyone was killing themselves laughing, even Pluto. Dh saw it and instead of coming to help decided to phone his parents and sister to tell them He then slipped up going down the steps to see the dragon in Cinderella's castle lol, followed a bit later by FIL tripping up spme steps and then Ethan walked into a lamp post (that will teach them to laugh at me )

The journey home took 7hrs and we didnt stop once, although we managed to stretch our legs on the boat so it wasnt too bad. We were so worn out though that Ethan and myself fell asleep on our way back from Dover. The IL's were in the car in front and they all saw I was asleep so thought it would be a laugh to call my mobile and make me jump, which of course i did and so that amused them almost as much as the pluto incident. Dh was moody for the french part of our journey home because the day before our car started playing up and he didnt know hoe long it would hold up. All he wanted was to get back in the UK so once we were back in Dover he was a bit happier. As it was the car held out right up until we were 15mins away from home and then she just conked out and refused to start. FIL towed us to his house where the RAC came to take a look and it turned out to be something so trivial (only cost £15 to fix)Dh is over the moon, i think if he could marry his car he would, he really didnt think it would get us home.

We had a very quiet New Years this year, we were all asleep by 10.30pm lol due to all the walking we had done and the long journey home. It must the first New Years I havent seen in since I was about 8, must be getting old lol.

Creena I remember you, welcome back

For all of those with sore bottoms (well babies with them) Alana has one too although I think hers has been caused by some wet wipes i used the other day, they were cheap ones I had bought to wipe hands with in the car (we had left her usual ones at IL's and didnt have any spare packs) Ive been putting lots of Sudo on it and it is gradaully going but it still looks very red. Her bottom had only just cleared up after i had used the Pampers Aloe Vera wipes on her, she had a reaction to them as well, poor thing

Pebblemum · 02/01/2008 23:02

Cam, Alana has about an hours sleep in the morning and between 1-2hrs in the afternoon, she then stays awake until just after her last bottle at 8pm. She sleeps right through until 7.30am. She has never slept much during the day though but then again neither did Ethan, must be a trait they have got from their dad, he doesnt sleep much either.

To cheer you up a bit, my friends little boy never slept through the night until he was 14months!!

AbbyLou · 03/01/2008 09:43

Morning all, welcome back Creena, nice to hear from you again.
Pebble, sounds like you had a lovely time at Disney. I'm really looking forward to taking ours there one day. FIL is just in the process of booking a return trip to Center Parcs for this year. We are going in August this time so hopefully we will get some lovely weather. It will be nice to see them both running around together this time.

Pebblemum · 03/01/2008 10:08

We were supposed to be going to Centre Parcs for mine and Dh's 30t birthdays in April but it worked out at £1500 for the luxury accomodation with hot tub and that was only for 3 nights. Its the PIL who are paying for it and while they didnt mind forking out that much they decided to look at other alternatives first. We are now going to stay in a lovely 5bed cottage in Devon, complete with pool, hot tub and games room and it is only costing £750 for 7days, just a slight difference lol. The cottage is on a working farm and the kids are allowed to help if they want so that should be fun.

Will definately go back to centre parcs at some point though.

largevirginbirthandtonic · 03/01/2008 10:43

CREENA!!!! Of course

Hey Pebble >

AbbyLou · 03/01/2008 10:56

You're right Pebble, CP is crazily expensive and it's not exactly cheap when you get there is it? We can only afford to go because we're splitting it 3 ways with some of dh's family. We are only staying in Comfort Plus and that's still £1400 for 4 nights. I just love it because it is so safe and so child friendly. Your other hol sounds lovely. We are thinking of getting a static caravan or cottage in Dorset somewhere over the summer but even that looks crazy in price if we go on our own.
Cam, hope things have settled down where you're going. It must be a nightmare. Here's to a smooth day on Saturday for you.
I'm struggling to get all my school work done at the moment. It is half done but I'm having to snatch time in the evenings when dh is not on the pc working too! It's impossible to do any in the day as I can't concentrate with 2 kids, noisy toys and CBeebies thrown in for good measure. I'd love my job if it wasn't for all the shit you have to do at home. It really annoys me when people think teachers work 9-3.30 then go home and relax and have great holidays to boot!!

FurtivelyPosting · 03/01/2008 12:31

awwwww, thanks for the welcome back ladies. i'm shocked that you remember me!

will pop back later for a proper catch up and chat - have got my hands ever so slightly full at the moment!
