Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
muppetisacat · 02/01/2008 13:00

I think i'd agree with you polar... could be pretty hideous if no facilities to express

just about over hangover

MUST do more callanetics this year as it all fizzled out a couple of months ago... it SO works for me but sometimes i'd just rather sit on mumsnet drinking tea

kittywise · 02/01/2008 14:35

post christmas post ironic, post modern, past caring name!!!

ReverseThePolarity · 02/01/2008 14:37

Tbh Kitty I think it's the name you've been hankering after all along!!

foxcubinapeartree · 02/01/2008 16:25

Kitty - I love your post feminist, post 7/11 name - hey I hatched that one!! [proud emoticon]

Laidback - so lovely to hear from you Dearie - your p/t work life balance sounds fantastic - am very and also [fency] of you living in pretty Devon. Is it a town or village you live in?

Taking of work - IKWYM Polarbear - I would be the same - would rather ensure I could express, otherwise you would get very stressed. Good luck - new jobs should start to be advertised from next week, so I am sure there will be lots which have been waiting in the pipeline for Christmas to be over with.

Has anyone booked any hols for 2008 yet? I'm thinking Cornwall. Well actually I'm thinking Marrakesh, but my bank balance is thinking self catering in Cornwall LOL!!

kittywise · 02/01/2008 16:35

I think we'll be trotting off to the I.O.W again. Cornwall is so lovely though as long as it's not pouring with rain!

Hey I've just been to ASDA with 6 kids - where's the gin?

TheBlonde · 02/01/2008 16:51

Fox - I have been thinking about holidays. We will probably go to Sweden (as usual) and might visit the US
I quite fancy Bournemouth. The drive to Cornwall was just too awful last year

Divastrop · 02/01/2008 16:52

bethoo-im sure you were around when the saveloy thing started.i think we were talking about food we couldnt have and i mentioned saveloy, and at the same time we were discussing sex and blow jobs starting off labour,so the two got linked

rosy-i have been on venlafaxine since the start of august and it wasnt working in the way i hoped(dh reckons it just made me emotionless),so i have gone back onto prozac(it was the only one that ever worked and i have tried almost everything else).i am still taking a small amount of the venlafaxine and gradually cutting down as it has severe withdrawal effects.

better go and wash the pots...

MerryPIFFLEmas · 02/01/2008 17:00

dp thinks we should go Haven hols as he gets 50% discount through work
However it says cot has to be set up in the lounge AARGHH
I would much prefer Eurocamp stylee thing...

Not got much time Finn afer me - handily he has decided that he only needs one nap a day between 10-12 and then after 3pm becomes ropier and ropier and ropier.
Until tea time which is ermmm now

However am pleased to announce he is back to sleeping thru 11-7 PHEW

Well have domestic goddessed my ass off today
Have shedloads of stuff to ebay
Mossy would ya mail me your address
I have something I can SEE Bertie in and you must have it!!!

Our study looks soooo cool I am quite amazed it was worth doing

Now I have closed doors behind which to disguise my anarchical approach to tidying

Kitty saw your thread but had no time to answer

Will try again later must go and feed this whining child tugging at my ankles/knees/thighs

catch y'all later

LaidbackinEngland · 02/01/2008 17:04

Hi Fox ... We are in a small town but only 1/2 mile from te beach and countryside. Decided that as DS1 is just approaching teenagerhood, we wanted him to be independent and head off down the park by himself/meet his friends etc. Hard to do if your in the middle of nowhere !! Remote countryside is the plan for when the youngest hits 16 and gets a moped !! (somewhere distant in the 2020's then !!

We'll be camoing again this year. Very cheap and simple and gives DH a chance to convene with nature

kiwibella · 02/01/2008 17:05

Kitty... I've just been to Waitrose and managed to lose the parking ticket on the way back to the car!! I expected the £10 fine but the lovely man let us out - phew.

Mossy... the reality of bills / life is awful. I have just given up work and every night conversation with my hubs begins, "how are we going to pay this....... ". I feel helpless but really pleased to be at home. Good luck with the agency and I agree with Foxy that, as people return to work the fabbo jobs will be advertised.

Foxy ... Cornwall is just as lovely. I intended to be organised and book ahead for this year but I haven't felt inspired while we are without passports (visa extension). Hubs is keen to go fossil exploring in Dorset?!?

I need some advice with Kate's sleeping. She has established a sort of routine which goes:
7:30 - 8:00 waking
10:30 feed and fall asleep on my breast - move her to bed and as soon as her body touches the mattress she is wide awake, giggling and crawling in her cot
12:30 same again
3:30 finally gives up

then she is up until atleast 9 or 10pm and she wakes two or three times during the night.

Part of me thinks that I should give her a bottle instead of feeding her during the day (it's not an endless supply / comfort feeding) but I am loving that she is pretty much back to feeding only from me.

Could it be to do with the quality of my milk?? Is she really hungry??

I would really appreciate knowing what you do or any advice.

I'm also looking for ideas for lunches for Kate - she is good with her pincers so finger food suggestions. I feel a bit like I have become a mum again since I haven't had to consider this before!!

Muppet... I prefer the cup of tea option too .

Great to have an update Laidback and pleased that things have worked out so well for you all.

kiwibella · 02/01/2008 17:28

Piffle... I have the Eurotent brochure here too . Tho 50% off would be very enticing!

I have just discovered Tesco clubcard deals. I am going to make more of an effort to swipe my card everytime I am shopping now.

foxcubinapeartree · 02/01/2008 17:44

Kiwi is your DH thinking of Lyme Regis for fossil hunting? If so, check whether the beach has been rebuilt yet

kittywise · 02/01/2008 17:51

Ha ha kiwi, that has been my life with old Ron thus far, bloody pita.
So now, being the desperate woman that am . I put him to bed in his sleeping bag and if he starts up ( which he nearly always does) then I stroke his head and in a cheery voice chirrup "go to sleep now Ronnie, I'll see you soon" Then I leave. He criesblue murder, but sleeps eventually and I get some peace

kittywise · 02/01/2008 17:53

Oh Yes, the idea of the sleeping bag is that it's more of an effort for him to struggle up to standing and encourages him to stay sitting/lying.

muppetisacat · 02/01/2008 18:10

Kiwi - no advice from me i'm afraid but many sympathies for the night wakings!

laidback - things sound great with you and it must be so envigorating being so close to all those beaches

muppetisacat · 02/01/2008 18:11

I do what kitty does too! but by gum they can scream can't they!

foxcubinapeartree · 02/01/2008 18:34

Monti wakes 2 hourly through the night atm and I just plug him on and feed him

kittywise · 02/01/2008 18:50

Foxy I couldn't do that, it would finish me off.

foxcubinapeartree · 02/01/2008 18:58

Kitty my body has kind of adjusted to it somehow...

I feel all fluey today and DS1 has a friend over for a sleepover. They are being really mean to DD, who is following them round like a shadow. I really want an early night tonight but no doubt they will be up all night giggling. I might put DH in charge of growling them.

Rosylily · 02/01/2008 19:32

Laidback you seem to have a great balance going on (I am a bit jealous ) hope you get pregnant soon then, that'll be very exciting...and sure you can just pop 'em out You are some woman!

Well when ds2 was about ten months I used to be up from 1-3 every night trying to settle him in his cot. I did the sh sh pat pat thing for two months but it wasn't working with him. So I gave up and I am not doing that again...this time I'm giving up before I start, it's quicker

kiwibella · 02/01/2008 19:33

hmm Foxy... I'm not sure where but I will check about LR. There was some amazing coastline in that area on Coast last night. I knew we should have taken notes!!

Thanks for suggestions... I would love to be able to leave her to scream but a) I can't and b) we live in a two bedroom flat - I can't get away from the noise and I'm concerned about the neighbours. Usually I end up feeding her, like Foxy, or dh gets her a bottle. I'm convinced she doesn't need feeding tho.

I hope the children settle, Foxy. Sleepovers always seem a great idea... and the kids love hanging out together... and seeing how late they can stay up!

ReverseThePolarity · 02/01/2008 19:39

Foxy lol @ plugging Monti in. I do the same with Bertie. Luckily he is back to waking four hourly, which actually feels like he's sleeping through in comparison!! When he wakes four hourly I do feel like it is genuinely hunger and not just comfort, as he is so teeny he probably needs the calories!!

Piffle I will send you msg on FB!

Diva sympathies with AD side effects. Dh is on cypralex (sp?) and although they make him much happier he is permanently sleepy and has permanently slightly ropey stomach.

Kiwibella, re: night waking. I wrote a stupidly long explanation of sleep cycles then but have deleted it all as was silly long! I recommend the No Cry Sleep Solution by Elizabeth Pantley if you are soft like me and don't want to leave your baby to cry. If you are a bit less soft you could try controlled crying or something along those lines!!

It almost certainly won't be to do with the quality of your milk. There were studies done a while back that showed very little difference in quality between the milk of women no matter what they were eating or drinking.

Evening everyone else!!

Rosylily · 02/01/2008 19:42

Kittywise-good name. If your dp does 'want' to then he could make you feel like a womanly sexual being in other ways?...would he go to a sex therapist with you? Because it is important to you I think.

Diva I hope you get the medication right soon. How's your diet...err I haven't started yet I think I need to listen to Paul Mckenna...I need to say goodbye to my extra stone before I can let it go.

foxcubinapeartree · 02/01/2008 21:07

ReversingPolarBear - I could do with reading that book. I can't bear leaving babies to cry - I am rubbish at all that stuff. Our otgher two slept through really early so |Monti is a bit of a shcok and I've just succumbed to his demands!

Rosy - LOL at saying goodbye to that extra stone

There are two really good TV progs on tonight - one about the fattest woman in the world (started) and another about these really lifelike fake rubber newborns (I want one, I want one) at 10pm methinks

Laidback do you want to swap lives with me Honey? I could do with a better work/life balance and a house near the seaside

bethoo · 02/01/2008 21:13

kiwibella - i do think it is comfort feeding that your lo is doing. Hayden wakes once in the night and i leave him to it. i f i went in he would become more awake and difficult to put back to bed.
Rosy - i am back on my salads adn protein shakes for breakfast!

there is an interesting documentary on tonight at 10 on channel 4 about fake babies, they really look real!!!

i will probably do what several of you suggested, in that i will hang on til i have met someone else though i may get called allsorts!!! but hey i have always done that to be honest but i feel as though i always need a man, i have never been single for as long as i can remember! how sad is that! and now i may be single at 30!!! i read somewhere that there are more women than men at my age so it is a big competition out there!

currently munching through satsumas at mo.
