How about a crumble Rosy, it's yummy with apricots ?

OP posts:
Rosylily · 29/12/2007 11:50

might have to do both!

MerryXMoss · 29/12/2007 12:59

Kitty, I'm really sorry to hear about all your worries, and of no one lifting a finger to help you. I hate it when people don't help out, but at least I only have the one baby so it's not a big ask. Honestly if I lived near you I would be down in a shot and help you with your housework.

I hope you manage to get some sleep. It really does make such a huge difference. Last night Bertie had quite a few sleepy feeds, but as he didn't do his "I am awake now and will try to learn to crawl and play and just generally think it is daytime" thing, I actually felt like I'd had a reasonable night's sleep. And it's sunny, and I got out of the house for a good walk. So I feel human again.

I can honestly recommend a good long walk in the sun and fresh air, but I bet it is difficult if you can't even trust your dp to look after the dc's for half an hour.

Rosy I am pmsl at your shopping list! Wouldn't have a clue what to make though. I think that's the problem with our cooking budget right there!!

Sazzy I am thinking about getting myself on the Paul McKenna again too. Although I also have a wonderful book called "why French women don't get fat" which is about eating sensibly. Trouble is I have no self control. I can't have any biccies. Because if I have just one, I have the whole pack.

Snoo, when I used to have periods I used Starflower oil and it did seem to make a difference. Now you know what a skeptical old cow I am and maybe it was just a placebo but whatever the reason, it did calm me down a lot.

I might have to add myself to the no sauciness list. Might make it a NY resolution to try and have at least a little sauciness. Preferably with dh and not just on my own.

Foxy, Bertie doesn't bite - he just gnaws at me when he is teething. Bloody hurts.

Hello everyone else anyone got any New Year's Resolutions?

Rosylily · 29/12/2007 17:43

perfect
I made a small apple and apricot crumble this afternoon and it was scrumptious and I ate it all myself because the children all turned their snotty little noses up.

Tomorrow it's morrocanish stew and more apricot and apple crumble and if they don't like it they can have toast

Rosylily · 29/12/2007 17:44

I also found a load of celery for 10p in the fridge too.....

MerryXMoss · 29/12/2007 18:00

Rosy thanks for the recipe! I lol when you ate it yourself. I do that all the time!!

KITTYmaspudding · 29/12/2007 18:14

Rosy did you drown it in cream and custard and did it stick to the roof of your mouth when you ate it?

OP posts:
Rosylily · 29/12/2007 18:32

hee hee Kitty no I don't have any custard powder left or cream but it was delicious anyway (and sticky slurp) good tip

Mossy I eat all the biscuits too and one of my new year resolutions is to drop another stone. So only 2 more days to eat whole packets of biscuits and I'll have to go for a big walk before I can get my mucky paws on any! (fume)

foxcubinapeartree · 29/12/2007 18:39

Oh yes I'd be round in a shot to help you too Kitty, if only I lived nearer !!

And Rosy, I'd be round to eat your Apricot crumble, if we were neighbours

NY resolutions? Good question:

To stay a size 10
To learn to swim properly and to swim regularly when I can swim properly
To declutter the house of crap regularly
To be a better, more tranquil Mumsy and less shouty Mummmy
To aquire £100,000 (I have this one every year...)+

KITTYmaspudding · 29/12/2007 18:56

foxy, bless you have a drink or two whilst you're here

OP posts:
kiwibella · 29/12/2007 19:29

wow, Rosy... what a thoughtful shopping list!! The recipe looks yummy . Glad you enjoyed the pudding even if your littlies didn't.

Kitty, I hope that you feel in the mood to go out for awhile by the time new years rolls around. This constant lack of energy is so exhausting.

I like Mossy's suggestion of a walk in the fresh air but it is so cold out!! I have spent a couple of days in with Kate and enjoyed plodding around home. I took her to the doctors yesterday and she has an ear infection... bad mummy alert! We were given some antibiotics for her - but do you think the monster will take it . She also has teeth coming through so it is no wonder that she has been so miserable.

No new years plans here. We usually have a good view of the fireworks around and will probably watch Jools Holland on the telly as usual . It is so lovely to remember that we were pregnant this time last year.

kiwibella · 29/12/2007 19:32

[frgin] pml Foxy... I would like to have your £100,000 resolution too!!

FourCalliecoingBirds · 29/12/2007 20:33

Halloooo one and all. Are we well and truly over the good and bad of Christmas? Mine was good in that DS was a wee star, no teething, and was delighted and delightful with all his cousins and aunties and grandma and other people around. The actual Christmas was a bit chaotic and we did have one domestic (not me and DP) but all in all it was fine. Not the best, not the worst, and I did feel like I'd had a break after it. I've also managed to lose a pound or two bizarrely, possibly because we didn't eat until lateish and very late respectively on Xmas Day and Boxing Day. Anyway, I got a fabby pressie from DP, an iPod Nano video and Jordi was thoroughly showered in gifts from both sides of the family. Which is really like getting pressies for me too at this stage!

Poor wee baby has a bad cough and I think another cold separate from the original one. He has had his chest listened to twice in the past few weeks and two different doctors have said there's no infection, but I don't know how long I should leave it before I take him back if it doesn't clear - any suggestions? He doesn't have a temperature or anything and I certainly don't want ABs unnecessarily but I don't want him to be ill unnecessarily either! As I type, I am munching my second piece of homemade ginger cake with whisky-soaked fruit and ginger pieces and lemon icing, made by DP's fair hand. Mmmm. He made one each for all my family and will be making more for various friends, but he made an extra one for me because he said I had worked so hard for Christmas - bless!!! All I did really was go out Christmas shopping lots, didn't do the cooking or anything, unlike all you poor put upon people, and Kitty I am also for you.

New Year - think sister, nieces and mum are coming up and we might go out to the do in town early in the evening. My new year's resolution is to get the things I want. I realised the other day I often think oh that's nice, like other people's kitchens or whatever, and don't actually realise I can have them (money permitting of course!). Anyway, we are planning some home improvements and I am determined to get what I want, as opposed to DP. Also actually do things like have a massage etc rather than just think about it and never, ever do it. That probably sounds very selfish and materialistic, but I think I could do with being a bit of both. And Foxy, I'm joining you on the exercise front! Don't know what yet though.

DeckthehallswithboughsofDolly · 29/12/2007 20:45

Hello everyone... am on my nightly sentry duty outside DD1's room to stop her escaping. Am half way down a bottle of cava so am quite jolly.

Sorry to all those who are ill or who have family trouble. Kitty, I would love to come and help you out with all your brood. Or just drink wine and put the world to rights. I now have my splendid new motor and have been slowly motoring around s london so maybe in the new year I could venture your way and bring you a cake (DD and I love making cakes and giving them to people).

Rosy, sorry things have been sub optimal of late. Hope all picks up in the new year .

Foxy, size 10 is fabulous - congratulations!

Mossy, hope all is well with you and DH at the moment.

Hello everyone else, how are you?

New year#s resolutions:

Less wine
More sex
Less random spending (am going to be fiscal and pay off debts on credit cards etc)

Am still BF quite a bit and still no AF here - will have done the whole of 2007 without one. Anyone else still not had one? No chance of baby 3 without one (not that this is a definite, but would like to have the opportunity IYSWIM).

AM off to outlaws tomorrow. FIL is very ill sadly so we need to pull out all the stops for a good NYE. If I don't get on again this year , hope you all stay well and happy, and all the best for 2008.

See you soon XXXXX

DeathBySnooSnoo · 29/12/2007 20:58

callie-i took Elsie to the doctors yesterday as her chest has been rattly for over a week and he gave me an inhaler for her.i dislike inhalers unless the child has been officially diagnosed with asthma.anyway,i have yet to use it as she was alot better last night.as a rule i tend to take them back to the docs if they go off their food/milk or bcome sleepy/have a temperature/seem to be breathing fast or laboured.

go out for new years eve?hahahaha.i might sit in the front room and watch all the pissheads so i realise i'm not missing anything other than making a tit of myself and having a hangover.

mossy-i have self-control issues too.dh kept moaning about how fast the large boxes of buscuits were going down over xmas and thought the kids were being greedy.when i tried to explian to him that i have compulsive eating problems which is why i dont buy cakes or buscuits he looked at me as though i was mad.'why dont you just eat one or two then?'erm...why dont you just smoke 1 or 2 fags a day or play WoW for 1 or 2 hours a day??

my new years resolution is to eat properly(as opposed to trying to lose weight as i am doomed to fail if i pressure myself like that) and healthily,as much for my mental health as my physical health.

i've always wanted a colonic irrigation but i dont know where you can get them or how much it costs

sazzybeehomeforxmas · 29/12/2007 21:21

Oh bum - wrote a really long message and then somehow deleted it. You're probably all heaving a big sigh of relief

We are now on day 3 of the 'no you're not having a cuddle at night' routine and it's going pretty well. Just being in a different room to Elliot is making a huge difference to my sleep - got 5 whole hours in a row last night! He screamed blue murder (my but he's cross!) but settled after a quick stroke. Am now not nearly so anxious about going back to work. I can do the work/mum thing if I'm sleeping, if I'm not I just fall to pieces and I'm going back four days next week.

We are going out for NYE! Friends have invited us over and said we can stay. I was dithering about going but had an email this evening saying how much they were looking forward to seeing us so I think that's the decision made! Hadn't realised it's only 2 days away

Resolutions? Pah. Lose 2 stone? That would be nice. I have to stop being such a greedy pig and doing some exercise I think. Now Elliot's well again, I'm going to start walking to nursery again (brisk 20 mins each way) which should help for starters. And some sex would be nice. Should I do internet dating I wonder?! Eek!

Rosy - pmsl at your fruit and veg extravaganza. You do know that apricots have an err loosening effect don't you?

foxcubinapeartree · 29/12/2007 21:32

hi

nice to hear about jordi's first christmas and also to hear all is well at dolly towers.

excuse one handed typing

callie echo what snoo says - also look for grren mucous as that can be a sign of infection

snoo - i had colonic irrifation once but about 20 years ago ( when my colon was young and attractive LOL)

DeathBySnooSnoo · 29/12/2007 21:36

foxy-i just pmsl at 'young and attractive' .dh asked what was wrong as i dont often laugh

FourCalliecoingBirds · 29/12/2007 22:06

Thanks Snoo and Foxy. No green mucous, just the usual snot I think .

I suppose I'd better change my name back, but have to get off computer before DP goes ballistic as having been sorting out iPod all evening.

dolly, lovely to hear from you. Happy New Year to you too.

Btw way, meant to say Kiwi - I was thinking of last New Year's and being pregnant. Little did I know how short a time I had left at it! Do you realise Jordi will be one in 10 days????

kiwibella · 29/12/2007 22:16

wow Callie!! It's hard to believe that we will be celebrating birthdays - starting with Jordis Have you got plans for his big day. This is a very special one to start with.

Sazzy... does Elliot cry for long? I have left dh to take over with Kate screaming in her cot. He is so much more patient than me.

Rosylily · 29/12/2007 22:23

Hasan is crawling about When I go to bed he will probably mess about for ages -that is our currant bedtime routine.

Can't believe it's nearly Jordi's birthday, it didn't seem so close to Christmas last year when he arrived so suddenly.

Snoosnoo get yourself loads of bargain apricots....you won't need colonic irrigation then

sazzybeehomeforxmas · 29/12/2007 22:24

My lord Callie - one! Bet you can't believe it can you?

kiwi - he doesn't cry for long. Well I don't leave him for very long. 10 mins is the absolute max but I usually give in before then. Night before last it took 2 1/2 hours of me going in after 5 mins of yelling, stroking him (he calms down instantly), waiting until he was 'asleep', getting up and walking out and the moment he heard the door go, the wailing started again. I do feel mean but I just couldn't go on with being woken every hour or so. And he has slept much better in the past, there's no teeth coming through (for the moment) and I know it's just that he's been used to sleeping with me. Can you tell I feel guilty?

Oh and please don't beat yourself up about kate's ear - my friend didn't realise her baby had one until her ear drum burst It's hard with babies to know what's wrong isn't it? Sure the ABs will kick in soon. Is it the banana flavoured liquid? Elliot loved it but refuses all calpol now after hospital and being forced to have it constantly

callie - you could give it another few days to see if it gets better on its own. I ended up taking E back to the GP after his virus and she gave him ABs which I was initially very reluctant for him to have but they did clear it up pronto and he'd been ill for so long I felt it was worth it. You could always get them and not use them if Jordi picks up?

Blimey -verbal diarrhoea here! Must go to bed!

Rosylily · 29/12/2007 22:25

Jay is clobbering me at scrabulous.

Jaysthird · 29/12/2007 22:34

pure luck rosy!!

re the ear infection, Jensen has one also, and like someone said, its hard to know whats wrong with them all the time. His, i think had been hangin about for about a week before i took him to the docs.. hes also just cut all top four teeth in one go and so i thought it was that....His AB kicked in almost overnight. Good job they cant remember these things!!

Hi to one and all BTW, I am still here and there!

Quick update re my pregnant state.. have to go for a growth scan in three weeks, am already measuring 4 weeks over so they want to keep an eye on me ( remembering that J was a hefty 11.2lbs) Had GD test done and all in the clear, so it looks like i just 'bake em big!!!'

foxcubinapeartree · 29/12/2007 22:38

sazzy and kiwi - impressed with your iron wills at trying controlled crying!!!

Rosy - Monti messes for about an hour each night at bedtime - I just plonk him on the floor and doze off. He potters around and then tells me when he's ready to go to bed at which point I feed him again and he sleeps

callie - OMG is Jordi really one in 10 days!!! - that has come around soo quickly

snoo - why do you want colonic irrigation then? I had it after I gave up meat - to clear out any bits of meat residue which may have been sitting around in there....
