Have noticed lots of other 04 months but not June so thought I would get it going DS was born on June 17th. He is totally different to how DD was so its like starting over again! He's growing fast but seems to get very bored and frustrated at not being able to do much. He's just starting jars of baby food but tends to have a bit of a sweet tooth!! He's also a gemini and definately seems to have two personalities in there - he can stare at you and go from wobbly bottom lip/about to burst into tear to huge grin in a second!! How are other the other June babies getting on?

where is everyone, it is very quiet on here.

Scott is now sitting up on his own really well he can bend right over and "kiss"the floor then sit himnself back up. He is becoming alot nmore vocal but no mama or dada sounds yet. He has to have a retest on his ears in 1month as only turned towards normal level noises, had his ears checked this morning and he has glue ear. Hopefully this will go on its own. he still has his cold and is very mucusy (sp!!!) I am waiting for the new doctor to arrive on island then if things haven't improved will take him to him to get a referal for the paedratican, as still having to use his inhaler atleast twice a day.

Hope everyone is okay.

Karen

June posters are like buses, you wait for ages for one and then.....

Karen, hope S is better soon, poor little thing.

Skara · 01/02/2005 10:44

flying note as no2 is upstairs and J is grizzling on the floor beside me. Had the 8mo check the other day. Nowt to report really. He's 20lb 4oz and on the 98th centile for height (think that she mismeasured, I'm sure he's not that tall!). He is clapping and waving and crawling backwards and commando dragging forwards...and as of yesterday trying to pull himself up on things, oh joy. Glad to hear you're insane enough to consider no3 MG, it is absolutely lovely if a bit tiring. Think we're through the worst now though. Hope S gets better soon Karen and good luck with the hearing test - my no2 was the same, but passed when he (finally) got rid of his permanent cold. J wailing, had better go and put him down for a sleep...

monkeygirl · 05/02/2005 16:18

I know I've been posting about how difficult A has been recently so just wanted to note (for my own amusement I guess) that he has been such a little darling the past week or so, really cute and trying to walk on his chubby legs and oohing and aaahing at me, and his two top teeth are just cutting through today. So there.

karen01 · 06/02/2005 17:29

oh bless, I think Scotts two bottom front teeth are starting to come through, or they could just be teething as his gum is really swollen.

When you look at his gums you can see the outline of all his teeth under the gums bless.

Gomez · 14/02/2005 17:59

Hello ..... Back at work mid-January and so my mumsnet life has come to an end. In fact jusy leaving work now so thought I would take 5 mins to pop on and say hi!

Had 8 month check last week and alll was well - still not on the chart for weight or height but hey. Big chicks rock! 6 teeth, bum shuffling and still v. good and v. cute. Seems to have taken to Nursery so far - just waiting for the first sobbing fit one morning. Anyway please that you are all well and obvioulsy as busy as I am.

take care all.

monkeygirl · 15/02/2005 16:30

Hello all!

Karen - how are you feeling? Have you spoken to dh again about how you feel?

Alex is a big boy as well, but can't be bothered to go and get him weighed. Guess I'd better go for his 8-month developmental check soon. He absolutely loves standing - just wants to do it all day!! I have to hold him mostly but he can stand by himself holding onto the sofa. I think he has actually rolled from tummy to back a couple of times as well, finally! 4 teeth for him so far and another one coming - gawd but he (we!!) suffer with it. And he still screeches. Can be wearing but funny when he makes people jump in the supermarket! And he has now just woken up so better go!

karen01 · 15/02/2005 17:36

HI
MG-, I am ok have spoken to DH but he still wants to wait a while. I have agreed for now but don't know how much longer!!! Thing is (and sorry if it is tmi) but I have gone of sex as I only want it to have a baby.if that makes sense. Am trying my hardest to put some spark back!!!

Scott still has no teeth, he too loves to stand but he is still skinny, he is starting to fill out a bit now though. When he was last weighed he was on the 9th centile for weight and on the 75th centile for his height. I am just hoping he continues to fill out as I don't want him to be tall and lanky. Bless him. He is also shouting alot aswell now and makes us all laugh. HIs temper tantrums have started if you take something of him that he wants he just screams, but he does like having his head stroked and if you stop before he is ready he just screams.

Must go now speak to you all soon.

Take care
K

cathncait · 21/02/2005 12:49

well, here is the big news! Grace took 2 steps yesterday and now is trying to walk everywhere! (unsuccessfully I might add - 3 steps is her best and they were prety wobbly!). She is 8 months old in 2 days time.
She has 6 teeth now which made her pretty grumpy and she woke up a lot during those times. She is clapping, waving and generally getting into absolutely everything!.
I do feel a bit sad as she seems to have been a baby for such a short time but she is so cute and cheeky that I'm really enjoying this time anyway.
DD1 has started going to daycare 1 day a week (not sure what the equivanlent thing is over there - nursery?) this has been quite lovely although I feel a little strange having other people looking after my baby (2 1/2yrs). I havent left her anywhere much ever - when I had Grace and only a few other times really - but i will get used to it and have really enjoyed a bit of space (and she loves going which makes it very easy in that respect).
Well, we really are a quiet thread arn't we?? i hope you are all doing well and really enjoying your babies.
xxx Cath

karen01 · 22/02/2005 07:19

cathncait- omg walking already, Scott hasn't even started to crawl yet, he does try bless. He doesn't roll round and round either all he doies is sit or roll from back to front very rarely front to back.

Where is everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

voddiekeepsmesane · 23/02/2005 22:56

Hiya
Im a newbie here. thought i would introduce myself on this board first
My DS was born on the 17th 4 weeks early. He has 6 teeth and is crawling even if it is a type of commando style ...though recently has started to get up on all fours and do the rocking thing.
Has yet to say mama but babbles dada all the time much to my disgust LOL
I have worked with children as a nanny and in nurseries for the past12 years but am finding that having my own is a whole different ballgame
I am a SAHM at the moment but am looking at registering as a childminder soon
Ok enough of my prattling
Looking forward to getting to know a few of you

moonshine · 24/02/2005 11:17

Hello all and welcome to vkms (hope you don't mind me abbreviating that! Great name btw). Yes nothing can quite prepare you for having your own I don't think. It's a bit of a quiet thread this but feel free to try and change that!

I've changed my name from monkeygirl, just in case you are wondering who the hell I am, btw.

Karen - are you feeling ok about your situation?? Why does dh want to wait?

Cathncait - omg - I thought I had an early walker with dd1 at 10 months and that was a bit of a nightmare cos they have absolutely no sense of anything and this age! Bet it's keeping you on your toes though!

Alex can pull himself up and has started cruising and has tried a few times to stand up without holding on to anything. Don't know what I'm going to do when I can't even leave him for a single second. He has 4 teeth and has been a bad bad teether - ie he is so grumpy with it. Makes me realise how much easier dd1 was. She was also easy to wean but Alex is finally 'getting' it and actually enjoys some of my cooking! Can't wait to stop making that horrible mush though and he does actully like finger food. And he has finally rolled from front to back and back to front, but this just means he gets himself into positions he doesn't want to be in.

Do you all have good sleepers then?? Alex used to sleep through but has been waking up to get into bed with us. Unfortunately he is still in our room, which doesn't help I'm sure but we are trying to decorate the box-room for him - I just can't wait to get him out and see what happens.

Oh well, have been away for a while so am off to try and catch up.

karen01 · 24/02/2005 14:51

Moonshine- to be honest I don't really know how I feel at the moment about DH not ewanting one yet. I have said that if I have to wait then I will until Scott is 2 then we will try ofor number 3 but that is another year in June obviously hopefully I can wait that long if not then we will have to talk things through again.

Welcome VKMS hopefully the thread will start to pick up again!!!!!!!!!!!

Where iseveryone else.

VKMS- I am a SAHM aswell.

moonshine · 28/02/2005 11:42

Karen - I guess so much can change very quickly but then again having a child if dh is not keen could put a terrible strain on you all. Anyway, hope you are not feeling too bad about it atm - hoefully you can just keep talking amicably about it with him.

Still quiet here - I bet no-one bothers lurking on this thread hee hee hee.

Gomez · 28/02/2005 21:21

Hello and welcome to VKMS

Sorry just so busy, back at work 3 days. DH away a lot again. Looking at new houses, tarting ours up to put on the market blah, blah just the usual boredom of life!

Lily is still a wee star bar (sorry!) crawling but no efforts to stand - possible because of her enormous bottom Just fine at Nursery. All in all not too much to report.

Oh, except I now weigh exactly 4 stone less then 6 weeks after I had her ladyship. Quite please with myself for that.

Right been a bit queasy yesterday and have now got some dodgy rash so am off to bed.

Take care all.

karen01 · 01/03/2005 10:35

Gomez- well done on losing 4 stone, how did you do it as that is roughly what I need to lose.

Moonshine- we will be able to remain amicable as if things got to bad and I really couldn't wait any longer I am fairly certain DH would be OK about it all as he does want more but just not at the moment.

moonshine · 01/03/2005 10:50

Karen - maybe you can just enjoy Scvott's babydom for a while then. I couldn't possibly imagine beign pregnant now and trying to do stuff with Alex, now that he is on the move (although not crawling but he gets around somehow).

Gomez - hope work is ok. 4 stone!!! Well done, you must have willpower of steel. Do you have anymore to lose or is that job done?

Nights for us are getting worse atm. We're still at least a week from getting Alex in his own room (well at least the crying won't seem so loud I guess when he's there!) and he seems to be teething still which is always a long drawn-out painful process. But he is quite a little character now and finds stuffing things into my mouth very amusing.

zebra · 01/03/2005 21:24

Karen - 3 was a lot harder than I ever imagined it to be. I would wait 4 years again, if I were you, if you're young enough that it doesn't feel too risky, anyway.

T. is crawling, at last. He has managed to stand unsupported for a full 2 seconds or so, but I can't see him walking soon. He's so pathetic, clumsy & inept compared to his big siblings, can't believe the difference, sometimes. We keep finding "interesting" things in his mouth. Still have the nights from Hell -- wakes me up 6-8x/night, every night. I wish I were exagerating, he just won't settle anywhere/any-how. I often go off to sleep at the far end of the house, leaving him to scream (guilt, guilt)... so I'm off.

Gomez · 01/03/2005 21:45

Oh Zebra you must be so tired. No ideas to help thou. Sorry .

Karen - number three is still playing on my mind too. But off to Uni in the autumn so for us it is either now, defer Uni for a year and then try and do a law degree with a 2.5 and and another somewhere between 6 months and a yearish. Or wait and have a twilight babba when I am 40. Think I am tempted to wait cause if I remember rightly the most hideous time with DD1 was between 9 and 15 months so still got all that fun to come.

DH away this week, house is a pit, bloody ants have a feeding frenzy on apple core DD1 left on floor, need to do the bins and I can't be bothered!

Moonshine - why the new name?

Bye all

As to the four stone - about 2 stone of it was baby blubber which went quite quickly and the other 2 has just been good old fashioned eating/drinking less and doing more. Still got another stone to go but struggling now....

moonshine · 01/03/2005 21:53

yikes Zebra - nights sound bad. Thought mine were cos Alex wakes up at least once but recently has been 2/3 times. I was spoilt first time round with a brilliant sleeper.

Gomez - I'm nearly in my twilight years so should I get on with it ? Actually I would quite like another still but really don't know if I can do the young baby thing again. I'm finding a lot of it really really tough, even if the little chap can be a complete delight.

New name was to help me do a Reggie Perrin and come back and reinvent myself into someone who was a success in life! Also liked the various meanings of the word. Well, still waiting for it to work...

zebra · 03/03/2005 22:14

He's been down for 2 hours now (I went to preschool AGM), so is due to wake up near constantly for next 8 hours, now...

But on the plus side!! In the middle of the floor, he stood up by all by himself this evening, DH tells me.

karen01 · 05/03/2005 19:58

Zebra- I have time on my side as I am only 29, but if i wait another 4 years dd will be 12!!, I think I would rather have one within the next 2-3years. As DD is som much older then DS then I feel that number 3 will be like most number 2 as DD is pretty much self sufficient at home (re bed bath, doing breakfast and snacks etc). I hope T starts to sleep more for you soon. Scott has not slept today during the day, hae has also started to refuse his last bottle somedays I am lucky to get two full bottles into him!! R any of you having this problem!!.

moonshine · 07/03/2005 10:44

karen - yes Alex is definitely drinking less milk these days, although I wonder if for him it's do do with being ill/teething but then even when he's in a good mood he doesn't drink it all. Whereas at night he used to have 8ozs he now has between 2-5oz and leaves some during the day.

I am also having a nightmare with very disturbed nights. Last night I was at the end of my tether with the constant loud moaning and shrieks and just had to get out of our bedroom. Dh has been quite a star though and when A does wake up and is very bad he takes him into the front room to give me some sleep (but I do reciprocate and do the 6am onwards shift if neccessary.) Hope this is teething and not some awful quirk of character. He is now finally asleep on his side on the sofa after whinging and crying all morning. Definitely don't remember this stage being so tough with dd.

On the plus side he is very sociable when in a good mood and his cruising is getting quite good, although obviously he always aims for all the danger spots in the room. Found him quietly playing with dd's pens the other day - luckily he hadn't mouthed them but he had managed to draw all over my rug .

zebra · 08/03/2005 20:37

I'm breastfeeding, but T. is definitely much more into solids than his milk. I struggle to get T. to have milk in the day at all. DD was the same (DS1 was a milk addict, though). We are having better nights with T. lately (only 3 wakings, & he goes down easily after each one & stays out for several hours, too) by just letting him have HEAPS of food in the evening. Not that I starved him before, but maybe I didn't let him pig out so much. So he's having less milk than I think he should, because he's such a right pig.

My broken record line...I have never understood people who say their babies/children won't eat. Mine are all non-stop eating skinny things. Though they turned their noses up at home-made pizza this evening (well, T. didn't, he quite liked it!).

moonshine · 10/03/2005 11:52

My firend's dd is a non-eating child, opr tries to be. She's 4, weighs about 12kg but is as bright as a button and very energetic so it's only the 'professionals' that are stressing out about it apparently. Ds (9 months today!) has turned into the human dustbin almost overnight. He also started crawling yesterday, although not with the best method yet and, after waking up several times during the night, has managed to sleep until 8am 2 nights running. D-day to be in his own room is this Friday hopefully. I can't wait in some ways, although I think I will try to make it the end of bringing him into our bed so no doubt we will have some difficult nights trying to get him back to sleep in his own bed!
