Hello everyone

Ive got about a weeks worth of messages to catch up on so im sorry if i miss anything thats been going on.

Amani - I hope your managing to get all the support you need.

Ethan had his 8 week check yesterday and everthings fine.
He's having about 5/6 oz of hungry baby milk now and normally goes from 9pm - 3am, although last night it was 9.30pm - 5.
I really feel so lucky that he's as good as he is.

Has anyone else had there first period yet?
I asked the doctor about it yesterday as i'd had nothing, she said i should start within the next 2 weeks .
Anyway this morning ive had a really light bleed but nothing since.
Also i think i want the coil fitted. Is there a certain time in your cycle you need to have this done?

I hope everyone is ok, will catch up soon

Thanks Fifi. Feeling better, but part of me is afraid that it's because of the medication I'm taking and am worried that when I stop taking them if I will feel low again.

Can't believe you LO drinks 5-6 oz. I can only get DD2 to drink 3 oz max from the bottle (7 weeks) and that's only after a lot of stops, starts and winding.

Not had my period yet. Is it painful having the coil fitted?

Skid, you are definitely not the only one with jealous older children! Mine are very good with DD (DS1 loves her and DS2 ignores her) but are both being ratbags for me. DS2 is starting to settle down a little now but then he is a very easy going child, am proud of how well he has coped with starting school and getting a sister all in the space of a few days. DS1 however, started off really well behaved, getting ready for school with no fuss etc but now he is Mr Attitude again! Will do nothing he is asked (usually picking stuff I can't ignore like needing to get his shoes on for school) and then when I get cross he laughs at me! Grrr, had a bit of a tearful meltdown this morning because of it - not good. Feel like I need a crap mother of the year award.

Sympathies to those with snot-monsters. DD is just getting over her first cold and it all seemed to be at the back of her nose and throat just like your DS Clairey. She had a bit of a temperature and watery eyes too. Thankfully she seems much better now and it didn't affect her feeding too much. I also raised the cot a fair bit.

Like the idea of new thread title having something about smiles in it! DD is smiling a fair bit now although not all the time - it is sooooo gorgeous to see! Especially when she does it for me when I go to pick her up, makes me feel all loved and fuzzy.

Bizarre Friday night question to you all, those with little ones that use dummies, do they suck them all through their sleep or just to settle themselves to sleep? DS usually just spits it out after a minute or so but tonight he's in a grobag for first time and new routine of a bottle of expressed milk before bed and he hasn't let go of the dummy for the past 2 hours (he's asleep but seems to be sucking continuously!

Welcome back Suey, yikes I might've bumped into you without realising?! If you saw a deranged looking woman with a double pram it was me!

Bouncingturtle · 08/02/2008 21:20

Loucee - a bit of both, sometimes he needs it to settle himself to sleep but then spits it out, but sometimes he sleeps without or, he wakes up if he loses it.

loucee · 08/02/2008 21:24

Thanks BT - I'm ok with him having the dummy but I don't want to get into bad habits where he doesn't sleep as deeply if he's constantly sucking!

Another one with a really really snotty baby here. She literally had one day between colds - it just doesn't seem fair. Luckily for me my dh is back tonight and tomorrow night so at least I am not having to do it on my own - she has been screaming all evening - I can't bear it.

Like Skid said - those of you doing it on your own (Buzzy, MacDoodle) are amazing. I have only done a few days alone and it was really, really hard.

But Skid don't think for a second you are the only one with a troublesome older child - and please don't think it's your fault! It sounds like you did a fantastic job of preparing your dd for the new arrival. I just don't think there is anything we can do to really prepare them for the equivalent of your DH bringing home a new wife! My dd has her good days and her bad but she had a monster of a tantrum this evening which lasted about 3 huors on and off. And all the other mums I know with similar aged children say the same thing.

Loucee - I am a little perplexed about how to use a dummy properly too! I usually give it to her when she is tired and she often goes to sleep sucking it but then wakes up when it falls out, until eventually she is evidently asleep enough not to need it any more. I think I will try and wean her off it at some point because I don't want to have to keep getting up to put it back in - put I have to say it has been a life-saver this week!

Hi folks. Well back up in jockland after my folks then a few days in North Yorks near Ripon - what glorious weather this weekend heh? Really good as it meant we were able to get DD1 out every day feeding ducks and at playground etc to burn up some of the energy!

I seriously can't believe DD2 is over 9 weeks already - how in god name has that happened?? HV is coming round on Wed for her first jabs (should have been last week while we were away) - I remember DD1's and as long as there is a spoonful of calpol before hand hopefully there'll be no side effects again.

Have been wondering when DD2 will drop her night feed as DD1 had by 9 weeks - but suspect we were lucky with that - even though DD1 gets 5 good feeds during the day she still wakes for one at around 3 to 4 am. It's not too bad it usually it's a short affair but just getting to the point now I could do without it - hopefully not longer now - especially as she'll be out of her moses basket soon and as there isn't' room in our bedroom for the cot it'll be night time trips to her room to feed if she's still at it.

Just trying to settle her now which is proving a pain tonight - really should learn that when she has a bath it's easy, when she doesn't not so - doesn't take a genius to realise bath every night!!

Anyway - seems quiet for now so downstairs for me - maccy cheese in the oven and Easties on TV soon - excellent - only thing missing a decent glass of Red but trying not to drink mid week in at least a vague attempt to start to loose a bit of weight - Alcohol being my first vice - lack of exercise the next one to attack

Cheerio for today then - hope you are all fab - (yet again ages since last post so have missed far too much!). Thanks for all the messages re my Dad though - hopefully things will keep plodding along slowly as they have for a number of years now which will give us ages and ages still with the grumpy old sod
