Helibee

Hello and welcome.

You may find it a bit quite at weekends.

I have dd1 who is 4 tomorrow (she hated being on her front. Didn't crawl but walked at 10mths ).

dd2 (was due 30/8/07 but was induced on the 7/9/07) she likes being on her front although does alot of superbaby impressions, bib like a cloak and arms and legs in a flying position .

James i glad tasha and ds3 are ok.

leifmum · 26/01/2008 10:10

hello Helibee! love the name, thinking i should have been more creative with mine! my dd (Matilda) was born 03/08 and sounds like your ds, loves standing and walking or at least trying too! she's happy being on her front unless it's when she's trying to get to sleep. really don't understand why it's so difficult sometimes for babies just to give in to feeling sleepy!

james - hope tasha and ds3 have a better day today.

the sun's shining at the moment here. the ILs are about to descend though so i can sense a big black cloud coming......

hope you all have lovely day x

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 26/01/2008 12:41

Hi Helibee, welcome to the thread! Callum sounds like a little character! my boy James does the blowing raspberries while eating thing too, especially lovely with prunes. Love those zero warning porridge-sneezes too, he always manages to aim the right at my face. Once, into my open mouth, mid laugh. Ohhh the blackmail stories I'm busily saving up to regale his first girlfriend with...

I don't know an awful lot about fibromyalgia or CFS (assume you mean chronic fatigue syndrome/ME) but I did suffer from horrendous fatigue for about a year after having a bad bout of glandular fever as a teenager. I used to fall asleep on the bus home from college literally 20 seconds from my stop, it was quite disturbing.

How on earth did you cope with the general exhaustion of pregnancy/the early weeks of having a baby on top of your conditions? It must have been horrendous!

James isn't keen on being on his front, although he's not grumbling quite so much now he can lift up enough to see the telly

Gotta go. Squash to squish, pear to pulp.

helibee · 26/01/2008 17:13

Hi, thanks for the welcome. Just a quick post as Callum is determined to fight sleep today, so i need to go rescue dh and my dad (who we're visiting for the weekend) and get him off to the land of zzzzzz.

Going to try banana again tonight so we'll see how it goes.

I'll write again later if i get a chance.

p.s leifmum my 'name' was a nickname from some special needs children that i used to work with and it just stuck!

lizziemum- happy birthday to dd1 tomorrow, hope you have a stress free day x x x

tasha22 · 26/01/2008 23:08

omg that took me half an hour and doesnt even look like much cause i had to keep refering back to the thread lol

My2Weegirls · 27/01/2008 10:06

hi - just quick pop on to see how tasha's wee one is getting on - suuposed ot be having a shower....

tasha so glad the first op is over - it's so horrible when they are in hospital and you can't do much for them. hope his pain is more manageable now - big hug

helibee - welcome. i've got 2 dds (3yrs and 5 1/2 months). i'm in central scotland.

hi to everyone else will catch up soon

helibee · 27/01/2008 10:31

Hi, this is just a quick post as i'm supposed to be packing (we're off for a seven hour drive back home from my dads!)

tasha-sorry to hear about your little one, hope all is well-will be praying for you.

James- Callum is definately a wee character and yesterday decided he liked his head being upside down and so was constantly throwing himself into the strangest of positions and then giggling away!

He also decided no to the banana yesterday but instead was trying to drink my cream soda from the can and when that failed he treid drinking from the straw-will try and post the picture as he has an angelice "who me?" face whilst doing it!!

Fibromyalgia (FM) is basically a chronic pain and fatigue syndrome. I have tender points all over my body and am in pain all day every day but Callum makes everything worth while. I've had FM for 6 1/2 years and had to give up my nurse training because it got so bad but I'm happy at home. My dh is excellent and is very supportive (just wish he could learn to change ds's nappy in the early morning without taking off his whole sleeping bag and waking him up!! )

In answer to how i coped in pregnancy-well i'm used to fatigue and mind blowing tiredness so it was no different but i did suffer from hyperemsis and was hospitalised as i lost over 2 1/2 stone in the first 11 weeks of pregnancy! Once Callum was born, adrenalin kept me going for the first few weeks but now as he sleeps so well to lunchtimes i get a good rest. If I'm really not well mil who is very good comes over to watch ds for a few hours to let me rest. But generally it's the pain thats the hardest to deal with!! I also use a wheelchair when we go out which ds loves as he gets to cuddle up to mummy and has that smug "I've got my mummy all to myself" kind of smile!

anyway just realised that this post wasn't so quick but hey dh and ds are still sleeping peacefully in each others arms-so cute.

Take Care x x x

Uki · 27/01/2008 10:51

WELCOME helibee great to have some new chatty mums.

tasha- Hope ds is doing OK, poor you. it's hard to watch them in pain. My ds1`had an operation at 5/half months on his naval as he had a hole going down to his bladder, was so traumatic when he woke up crying, He didn't sleep at all well after the whole experience for some time.
Give him a big cuddle for us.

We have taken the plunge with solids for LL, he had some baby rice for 3 days and now banana and rice together which he loves, I've never seen such enthusiasm grabbing at the spoon, bowl and your hand to get it quicker, it's hilarious. He really wants it. Today i was b/f him and eating a biscuit and he let go of the b. sat bolt up right and grabbed the biscuit knows what he wants.

Oh I made an appointment with my Ob. to discuss......having another baby BUT it will be a good four/five months before trying. Ideally i would like to wait a few years but my blood pressure and fertility problems will only get worse, so tic tic!

I have been putting together loads of newborn clothes together for my friend, and can't believe how small and cute those newborn clothes now look, that is definitely making me clucky. You'd think it was my baby the way, I'm shopping and collecting

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 27/01/2008 11:50

Morning folks,

helibeen: you sound like you've cope admirably with everything thrown at you, people like you and tasha (her ds3 was born with cleft palate and lip and has just had the first of probably a few operations to correct it, as you've probably gathered) make me realise how lucky I am! and how lazy! lol

Well, I may have found myself some part time work from home, have to see what it's like yet but if I can make enough money to get by doing it I may be able put off returning to work for a while. This makes anna happy!

Just asked the mums I've contacted in my town if they fancy accompanying me to a mums n babies group this week. God knows why I'm the one organising everything, I've always been pathologically antisocial, I suppose it must be your influence on me!

Got my new sofas last night- I had to laugh- they're in much better nick than my old ones and I do appreciate that they were free, but the main reason I wanted new ones was because the centre bar on one of mine had snapped and was being held up with a big heavy duty roasting tin. I told the lady this and it was the main reason she gave them to me... but the central bar on this one is snapped too! LOL

Having a major allergic reaction today, itching and bumpy all over. Off for a shower.

Oh Tasha, if you're about I just realised I haven't turned my phone on since it ran out of battery last night, will check in a sec!

leifmum · 27/01/2008 14:06

hey folks! hope you've all been having a good weekend.

tasha - hope ds3 is feeling more comfortable today and you've managed to get some rest too.

james - really glad you enjoyed your meet up the other day. it really helps getting to meet other mums face to face. can you believe i've never been to an ann summers party. we were out shopping recently and dh wanted to go into the shop but i refused point blank because we had dd with us and i didn't think it was appropriate!!! he went in anyway! do you know what caused your allergic reaction? i had one once a couple of weeks after i found out i was pregnant. the itching drove me insane!!! never worked out what caused it but luckily hasn't happened since.

tried 2 of the 4 supermarkets in our area and they have no jobs going at the moment. naively thought they would always need staff! still not heard back from work either about a part time position. getting quite tense now we've seen a house we'd like. trying not to fall in love with it too much because i don't think we can afford it.

best go, dd is stirring

tasha22 · 27/01/2008 20:05

good luck with the drive helibee hope its not too stressfull with lo.my2weegirls, his pain is managable now he is on double nurofen and double ibrufen, so he is much more comfortable, and hes home!!
uki, that sounds terrible did he heal fast? it was awful when he was screaming in pain and there was nothing anyone could do.
James so happy you found something that suits you and i hope it works out for you.
leifmum-i hope you find work soon, have you been looking on the internet? are you wanting to work in a supermarket? i didn't sleep well last night cause i couldnt stop thinking of lo in hospital on his own (dp came home midnight) and i prob wont get much sleep tonight as it takes so long to feed lo now (by syringe) and hes still sore when feeding unless he has just had his meds.
heres pic of wee bradley today

lizziemun · 27/01/2008 21:08

Tash

I glad Bradley getting better. (BTW picture link doesn't work)

Hope you get some sleep, says the mum who is about to go to bed now as i'm shattered.

tasha22 · 27/01/2008 21:15

yeh i know im crap at that, you have to copy and paste it into your address thingy bar at the top of the page lol lo is sore and grumpy atm (with dp) but not due medicine till 11 poor wee man

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 27/01/2008 21:59

Tasha glad ds3 is somewhat better, must be a really difficult time for you. You're holding up really well, you should be proud of yourself!

That link you posted requires a password for us to see your pictures, you might be better uploading pics to your profile, or try using this website it's easy to use, just upload your pic then you will be presented with loads of different links, choose the last one which says "direct link to image" and paste it here.

Leifmum, yeah there's not much about jobwise at the moment. I rang around all the supermarkets, department stores, big shops etc in the area and none of them were taking on staff, they said they'd only just got rid of all their christmas temps and they probably wouldn't be taking anyone on til about march/april time.

My brother just suggested having a look online for product testing jobs from home. Apparently they just send you products, anything from nappies to stock cubes, and you just tell them what you think about them. Sounds like easy money!

i didnt want to put anymore on my profile yet cause i have LOADS lol
better go lo upset

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 27/01/2008 22:44

Aaw tasha he's gorgeous! God it looks great, and that's even with the swelling and bruising. He's going to be just fine!

Give him a cuddle from us lot. Night night!

leifmum · 27/01/2008 23:11

can't sleep because dh is snoring and i keep thinking about carpets and light fittings and furniture for the house we'll find out there's no way we can afford!

tasha your lo looks so sweet - what amazing eyes! gorgeous!

i like the idea of product testing from home james! if i can drag myself off mn might even check that out right now!

tasha - i don't really want to work in a supermarket. hopefully i can go back to where i worked before. problem is i can't go back full time and i can't do that job part time. they're trying to create a new position for me but i don' know how much funding they'll get so think i will have to supplement it with something else. a few shifts at a shop seemed the easy option but looks like everyone thinks like that!

helibee · 28/01/2008 01:56

Hi, the drive back was not too bad and ds behaved beautifully!

tasha your lo is so precious, that pic is beautiful and he looks like he's healing so well, my friends dd had same op and now you cant even tell she had it. Hope he's ok and not in too much pain.

I'm going to try ds tomorrow with some carrot tomorrow and see if he likes that better than the banana!

Anyway just off to bed as finally got lo off to sleep, he seemed a bit confused as his routine had been thrown up in the air by the journey!

night night
p.s good luck with all the job hunting x

kinki · 28/01/2008 06:50

Hello ladies, I was just reading some of your thread and wondered if I could join your gang! You seem a very friendly, chatty bunch so I thought I'd take the plunge. Been meaning to for quite a while.

My little ds3, Liam, was born on 27th Aug, a few weeks early. He has 2 big brothers, age nearly 3 and 8. I was reading about some of your lo's weaning, I haven't started with Liam yet. He doesn't seem to be in a rush to eat yet, so I thought I'd wait. He doesn't seem to be in a rush to do anything much at all tbh. But I like it that way, because he's my last and I want him to stay a baby forever.

And me, I'm old and decrepid at 39 and live in the south-east. I work one day a week in healthcare, but am on maternity leave. Otherwise I'm a sahm with my boys. Anyway, I'm looking forward to chatting and getting to know you all.

leifmum · 28/01/2008 08:37

hello kinki! my dd is my first and she's growing far too quickly for my liking! i can feel the sharp edge of her first bottom teeth coming through and it made me cry because it's another stage already! how daft am i?

dd had a fruit yogurt type mix this morning. went down much better than her usual porridge! going to celebrate her half birthday next week with weetabix!

glad your journey was ok helibee. takes us about three and half hours to get to in laws and lo generally starts screaming about half an hour away. find it so stressful!

not got many plans today. might go to weighing clinic. such excitement!!

My2Weegirls · 28/01/2008 08:55

my goodness where to start! hope you all had good weekends

kinki - welcome..dd2 is my last and i want her to stay the same too - they'e so innocent and it's wonderful watching them discover everything for the first time...then comes the terrible two's....

tasha - he is gorgeous! did he charm all the nurses when in hospital? it does look like they've done a good job -hope he's in less pain as each day goes. it also sounds like you did the right thing and ignore the HV's who wanted to start him on solids since you've got to syringe feed. hope you are looking after yourself as well as your boys?

james - take care not to get ripped off by those jobs where you make things/check things at home - i think there was a tv programme on a few years ago about some of the companies and they charge a start up fee and you have to work endlessly to make a living. what about your drawing coudl you do anything with that?

gill - dd2 slept till 6.10am and dd2 slept till6.20am this morning so it felt like i got a long lie but generally she's still up about 5.45am

helibee - glad the drive back was ok. sounds like your wee one has a great time snuggled up with mum .

dd2 is still on ABs and absolutely hates them - we have some struggle getting her to open her mouth and if i use a syringe she just sptis it out.

someone's shouting for me...back later

Pinkranger · 28/01/2008 09:12

what has happened to the pages?? or is it just me!!

My2Weegirls · 28/01/2008 09:23

they are fine for me pink??? what are they doing?
