When I have a kitchen again, I need to do some more cooking for DD. Want to include some different kinds of foods now she is 6 months....any ideas? Any no-no's?

Nursery went well - I'm gonna be in years next Tuesday - I could feel myself going today and I was stayig with her FFS!

I've broken the computer today so am on the oldest and slowest lap-top in the world

Daisy....don't feel guilty....You are doing as much as you can....

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 27/11/2007 13:37

in tears....poxy lap-top!!!

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 27/11/2007 13:52

Glad nursery went well Norty. I need to confirm a start date with "our" nursery, thanks for reminding me. DH will normally take her to nursery, but I will go in on the first day or two, even though I'm sure I'll be in tears over it.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 27/11/2007 13:54

How long until the new kitchen is ready? What food have you already done?

DaisyNightingale · 27/11/2007 14:11

cheers my lovelies.

I'm going to moan again as my lower back has started to seize up. I can barely lift DD (every time I do I'm getting a spasm right across my lower back) or bend over, and sitting on anything other than a hard chair is a no-no, and even that is really sore

I need my bouncy ball, but I lent it to my friend who is due tomorrow, so can't really ask for it back, can I?

My Dad used to say that he needed to be rubbed out and drawn in all over again....I know exactly what he means

I'm off for a walk to try and ease things out a bit.....maybe pop into the local mobility shop for a lumbar support.....or a zimmer frame

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 27/11/2007 14:12

It was lovely seeing her at the nursery but when she cried, I did think it won't be me to pick her up and give her a cuddle ...oh well...gotta be done

Hope kitchen will be finished Thursday. I have got all the appliances working though....may have to go to Ikea tomorrow to get a length of plinth...all the way to Essex for a length of plinth

DD has been on vegetables and fruit (loads of different ones) for a while now - as well as the baby rice / breakfast type things but want to introduce meat / pasta / other things and don't know where to start really! Do you BF just before feeding solids or separate it? DD has 5oz milk before a solids feed and I think I'm filling her up. Don't know whether to cut down on milk or move the milk feed to an hour or so before.

DaisyNightingale · 27/11/2007 14:12

oh and glad it went OK this morning norty. I'm sure DD will be fine, and it is hard when you forst go back, but it does get better......once you can stop waxing lyrical about how funny/clever/wonderful...your PFB is to anyone who stops to ask how you are and welcome you back to work

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 27/11/2007 14:14

Daisy - hot and cold compresses (cold first). Put DD within reach - no bending over to lift out of things! Keep your phone on you as well in case it goes on you.

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 27/11/2007 14:18

DD is boucing away watching BabyTV (she blardy loves that channel - 623 to those of you with Sky!) so I'd better get something done....

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 27/11/2007 14:23

I've had back probs in the past, so can imagine your pain Daisy. Ibuprofen, hot & cold as per Norty's advice, lie down as much as possible with feet raised slightly. Take it easy, a bit of rest might sort it out before it's too late - you don't want to totally be out of action. I find that a little black pepper essential oil in a bath is wonderful if my back aches btw - can get it at Neals Yard

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 27/11/2007 14:25

Norty, can't answer your food Qs at the moment as haven't got to that stage yet so no personal experience, my feeding your baby library books are out of reach, and DD asleep on lap.

HellHathNoFury · 27/11/2007 15:04

Hi Norty

What about ham and beans? Or veg and pasta? I am just quoting the Boots organic range

Hope you are all well.

justbeme · 27/11/2007 15:13

ohhh HHNF - you lurker!!!!!!

how are u?

annobalthebignosereindeer · 27/11/2007 15:15

Daisy, I'm so sorry. You are dealing with this amazingly .
The other thing you can try for your back is rubbing Arnica cream on and taking Arnica in 200c potency every hour or so.

I'm making ragu at the moment. It is the Locatelli recipe and calls for 2kg of mince and a whole bottle of red wine. It is delicious.

I'm definitely up for tomorrow. It's been a while since I've been to Putney so will have to take Fairy and Foxy's advice on where to meet. BTW, where can I park?

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 27/11/2007 15:29

Daisy, so sorry about your Mum. all I can say is what;s already been said - it sounds lke you are doing really well, go and see her whenever you want to and don't worry about coming on here for a rant.

Hi Fury, how r u?

annobal - I haven't been to Putney since before I had DD so no idea where to go or where to park! Foxy?

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 27/11/2007 15:30

Daisy, I have awful problems with my lower back as well and the only things that ever help me are hot and cold, ibuprofen and chiropractors....

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 27/11/2007 15:53

Ooohh JBM - are you lurking too?

Ham sounds like a good idea....now if I could only find my blender.....

Hello Fury ...

DaisyNightingale · 27/11/2007 15:58

I'm seeing the doc on Thursday as I need a referral for DHs medical insurance then will be off the an osteopath. I had the same thing happen with DS, but not till he was a year. I got some exercises to do, but lasrt time I tried them it aggravated a trapped nerve I've had since early pregnancy....someone please shoot me; it's the humane thing to do

Hi fury...how goes it?

HellHathNoFury · 27/11/2007 16:03

not really lurking - Daisy told me someone needed help with dealings with the stupid cow that screwed me over so I thought I'd say hello while I was here!

I am ok. Off work today as DS is ill.

DaisyNightingale · 27/11/2007 16:04

Norty....Hipp Weaning Chart. The second page has ideas for established weaning...or ask you HV for a copy of their weaning book...it's blue and yellow with a cartoon baby on the front. It has menu planners in iirc.

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 27/11/2007 16:06

Is that blardy woman still selling on MN? I thought we'd sorted her out Fury!

I swear by osteopaths Daisy....

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 27/11/2007 16:08

Thanks Daisy

DaisyNightingale · 27/11/2007 16:13

i went to an osteopath with my DS induced lower back pain, and he also sorted out a long standing shoulder injury that I'd suffered with for 20 years .

I need to swim more as that keeps things nice and limber.

Sputnik · 27/11/2007 16:13

I've been having a hard time with my back too, it's really stiff in the morning. There's no way I can really avoid things like bending to lift/put baby in carseat etc. nearest oateopath is in rome, not sure if it woulld be worth the hassle of luggiing 10.5 kg baby onto train etc. Should really do a bit of exercise for it.

(whispers: hello Fury )

HellHathNoFury · 27/11/2007 16:14

yes she is, someone paid £100 to her for a DS and, surprise surprise, it never turned up.

Can't say I didn't bloody well warn people though!!
