Here you go Eli!

I almost put 'your clothespegs' on the end there. Ds loves clothespegs. Came home from Rainbows the other day and dp had made a deal with ds. He could play with the clothespegs as long as he did it in his playpen and let dp make dinner.

I know AQ. Terrifies me too. I was tidying up ds1's room ,heard ds2 squeaking in his 'look at me, mummy' way and he was sat on the top looking very pleased with himself. Needless to say, I didn't leave him up there. That's another door that has to be shut when we're upstairs then!

MargoWishesYouAHappyNooNooYear · 09/01/2008 21:22

DD2 climbed a whole flight of stairs (with me behind her).

She's like a little houdini - always making a beeline for the opengate (checking, first of all, that I am watching her) and soes the same for the stairs. Laughing gleefully if she can reach it before I catch her. I'm going to have to keep my eye on this little lady.

castlesintheair · 09/01/2008 21:31

Know the feeling Margo & Oli

I think Mag was having trouble at mill. She disappeared from my facebook as well. Btw, meant to say, I got 2 recent requests to join the PN group on FB and as I have absolutely no idea what to do, whoever you are, please don't think I'm ignoring you but "approach" someone else to join up please!

Another thing re tummy ache: DS has stopped complaining since I started putting seeds into everything. You can grind them up (sunflower & pumpkin etc) or just sprinkle on neat (sesame). I also give the DCs seed bread now.

Happy New Year everyone. First chance to get back on here since before xmas.

Must sort my life out a bit better.

take care all.

Elibean · 09/01/2008 22:28

Hello Spina Happy New Year

Castles, I like the sharing a room idea but a) dd1 needs somewhere to play with her endlessly fiddly bits (Polly pocket, beads, 'jewellry', assorted small pink objects, etc etc) until dd2 learns not to choke on them and b) dd1 sings herself to sleep, loudly and c) dd2 wakes up and yells for milk, loudly and d) I don't think they'd fit

Guess it'll be the riding it out option, then..

SEeds and Actimel sound good. Your poor dd, FGS, sounds as though the pain is quite severe. What did the doc say?

FunkyGlassSlipper · 10/01/2008 09:01

Thanks Guys. I'll definitely get some actimel as at least I'll feel like I'm doing something.

DD2 loves climbing the stairs. It would be her favourite pastime if I didnt keep shutting the stair gate. Lol@ bunkbed-climbing

I was very hormonal when I stopped breastfeeding. It lasted about 3 weeks too.

We were thinking of bunkbeds but I've come to the conclusion that DD1 is too sensitive and after the novelty wore out she'd come to resent not having her own space...

FunkyGlassSlipper · 10/01/2008 09:22

Not having a good day so far. Told DD2 very loudly to 'SHUT UP' after constant whinging. She is only 13 months and DH was there so not amused. Feel v tired but off out now for DD1s swimming.

Olihan · 10/01/2008 11:22

Me either FGS. Not enough sleep therefore too much shouting. AND it's peeing down so can't even get them out for a bit of fresh air. Poo. Hate days like this.

Indith · 10/01/2008 12:03

God the weather is horrible

I do remember some teary faces around here when they stopped feeding. He asked for a feed later yesterday afternoon. Have discovered that as a general rule if he isn;t asking for it I just get pushed away or he will have a couple of sucks and scarper. He is on a big independent kick [sad ]

I think the thing is that he hasn't had bedtime milk for a fair while, and really doesn't want, nor will he do morning so during the day is kind of a hard time to be offering persistently if I want to get through this independent phase and keep going so I'm leaving it up to him. If he were a bedtime milk boy I would most definitely still be offering.

So what does actimel do? I didn't think it was supposed to be all that good for small ones?

Margo can you remind me about the rash? Was that diet related? Is actimel helping that?

Hello Spina!

The weather is truly foul, now. Yuk. I really wanted to go for a walk at lunchtime, but frankly I chickened out (which reminds me I must go and check on the hens!)

I saw the GP today about DD1s terrible sleeping. She suggested that I move DD2 into DD1s room forthwith and put DD1 'in charge'. Her reasoning is that having that little bit of responsibility may make DD1 feel very important. And that by moving DD2 out of our room it will send a signal to DD1 that it's not only she who is 'not welcome' in our bed. We'll see - I'll try anything!

SachaF · 10/01/2008 15:03

Looks a very nice place Indith, did you eat anything with Nitrogen Gas in it? Sounds bizarre! does it work?
Have the SIL and family moving in here at the weekend for 8-10 weeks so will either be quiet for a bit or on here loads trying to get away from having 5 kids in 1 house!
Walked as far as the post office today - I think this is glorious weather! (especially when snuggled on sofa with ds and his bottle of milk in a nice warm house )
Have worked out some of ds's speech - dada for water, da for yes, da for down, da for more food, wah for I've woken up (now, on monitor) and AAAHHH for 'I'm not getting my own way'

FunkyGlassSlipper · 10/01/2008 15:26

BP - sounds like decent advice from the GP. Worth a try!

Sacha - we gets lots of Daaaaa's

Elibean · 10/01/2008 17:29

Sounds like an extended family visit, Sacha - hope its fun!

I had some time away from LOs today, swam, wrote, had lunch, twas amazing.

Glad the GP has something new to suggest, BP - are you going to do it?

MargoWishesYouAHappyNooNooYear · 10/01/2008 20:01

Indith - dd1 had a rash up her legs, started with a couple of spots and got worse. Went to the doctor and got HC steroid cream and emmollient. The next day she was worse, with a kind of nettle rash all over. The GP gave me antihistamine and the nettle rash cleared overnight and the other rash took about 2 weeks to clear up. GP said it could be diet related - the only thing that she had different in the previous 48 hours was a froot shoot (I only give her milk or water normally) but I changed wahing powder from "small & mighty " to Fairy. She has been clear of it since. I give dd1 a probiotic drink for children, usually sainsburys own make.

Indith · 10/01/2008 20:10

Cheers Margo, am attempting to work out what might be causing excema flare ups in ds.

Sacha Dp had the tea and toast. The ball of tea was vey cool. Sounds like your house is going to be manic for a while!

Am I supposed to care whether or not we can describe translation theory as a discursive process?

indith -jabber recommended aveeno cream, it's like an oatmeal cream, would this be any good?

are you keeping a food diary?

Indith · 10/01/2008 20:22

the cream we have seems to be working at the moment but will add it to my list of things to try. The HV was actually very good at his last check too and if he has another bad flare up will organise a referal for us etc. I thik it is diet related as he has days when he has trouble pooing then has a huge flare up followed by a day of much poo. Not keeping a food diary as such but he eats pretty much the same things, or at least a variation on a theme. May try it though, perhaps something will leap out at me.

babypowder · 10/01/2008 22:17

On the subject of Aveeno, they do a really nice bath additive - it looks horrible, but it leaves skin really really soft. Its in their baby range. Your GP can prescribe it, so ask for it!

We've decided we're going to move DD1 into DD2's room next weekend, as DH is away this weekend. Can't wait.

Exciting news...DD1 drank 6oz of cow's milk from a bottle. It's the first time she's managed to work out what a bottle is for. I was desperate to find something we could do in the evening to wind down that didn't involve my breasts, and it worked a treat. She's gone to sleep on her own for the first time, and she's still snoozing away.

It's probably not a good idea to introduce a bottle at this stage, is it?

babypowder · 11/01/2008 17:05

What'd I say? Have I driven you all away?

Or is it my super-thread-killing power coming through again?

FunkyGlassSlipper · 11/01/2008 17:26

I'm here.

Another well done for Baby Glass here as she survived 9-2 at the childminders and was only a bit fractious! She has managed to take 5 steps today so I dont think proper walking will be too long.

DD1 is exhausted after her first week back at pre-school. She has slept 90 mins this afternoon. Could barely stay away through dinner but is desperate to wait for DH to get home to she can play Mario Galaxy on the Wii with him which is her Friday night treat!

babypowder · 11/01/2008 17:57

Hurrah for Baby Glass!

FunkyGlassSlipper · 11/01/2008 18:41

I have started my period and have a migraine coming

babypowder · 11/01/2008 19:52

Oh, FGS, are things still no better?

Indith · 11/01/2008 20:15

Yay for baby glass, hugs and chocolate for mummy glasss.

A year ago today our little post natal thread became complete. Where has the year gone?

for anybody who does not have a jack in the box, go and buy one now. I have never seen ds like that over any other toy. He was proud with his toddle truck at Christmas but this was something else. Once he worked out what he had to do to make it come out he was amazed
