Here you go Eli!

I almost put 'your clothespegs' on the end there. Ds loves clothespegs. Came home from Rainbows the other day and dp had made a deal with ds. He could play with the clothespegs as long as he did it in his playpen and let dp make dinner.

FGS, that's awful, your poor friend (and her ds) Chemo is incredibly draining I think, so any help with the basics would no doubt be much appreciated. A lasagne etc ready to stick in the oven/freezer as meals still have to be on the table. Weaning food for the LO?
I am so not full of the joys of Christmas, rotten sinuses & tooth abcess. I want to be, but have felt cr*p for several weeks now, got through both birthdays I want christmas to be over now! Bah humbug...
Ds2 has paid no mind to either of our trees, he is far more interested in all of ds1's birthday presents

Indith · 17/12/2007 14:32

Oh FGS that is such sad news, I'm sure you will be wonderful support for your friend.

Great news Oli about DH's job Chuffed to bits for you.

DS (5) and DD1 (3) are both giddy with excitement about Christmas. DS is getting a bit sceptical about the whole "santa" thing though and keeps trying to catch me out! DD1 gets up every morning, opens her chocolate advent calendar and then asks "Mummy, can I have just one chocolate from the tree?" If I quiz her later in the day, she's had at least 6.

I'm really excited too and absolutely loving it all through their eyes. Even DD2 seems giddier than usual! I am shattered though and would really like the end of term to be NOW and not Friday. Can anyone recommend a good wrinkle cream for eyes ??

Sorry about your friend's baby FGS. How sad and awful. My grandfather died last week and one of my aunts is having hysterical sobbing sessions every time anyone offers their condolences. It's driving my mum mad - he was 95 so hardly a life cut short. But for a baby to be seriously ill, or anyone young for that matter, it's just not fair, IMO.

babypowder · 17/12/2007 17:34

So sorry about your friend's baby FGS. It's just not fair at all.

Found out tonight, via a letter in DD1's school bag, that DD2 will not be allowed to go to the school nativity play tomorrow. 'For Health and Safety reasons ' we are not allowed to hold small children on our knees. WFT?? I've already been on the phone to the deputy head complaining about lack of notice, lack of community, etc. Oh dear, my DD will be blacklisted, won't she. DH will just have to stay home and look after DD2 then. Grr.

The Christmas tree is a magnet for DD2. She just won't stay away from it at all. It makes me laugh!

FrostyGlassSlipper · 17/12/2007 17:44

Thanks Guys. It will be hard for my friend as she has 2 older children on 3 and 6. I cried when I heard and then felt bac for making it about how I felt...

Dd2 isnt too bothered by the Christmas tree thankfully but she loves licking shoes and finding remote controls.

This week we have had Moo, Roar and Eeek. I am so surprised as DD1 only said dada and mama until about 15 months. I am still waiting for mama from dd2 though....

FrostyGlassSlipper · 17/12/2007 17:45

BP - that is really off about the nativity. They should have given you more notice.

babypowder · 17/12/2007 17:57

I am so pleased that DD2 hasn't yet mastered 'mama', as DD1 doesn't seem to have stopped saying it since she learned it!

accessorizewithbabysick · 17/12/2007 19:53

I'm getting mum mum mum at the moment after a couple of months of nothing, it's lovely as ds1 didn't say until 15-16 months. He's soo huggy! He hurls himself at dp when he walks in he door and hurls himself at me if I happen to be passing. Bless.

Indith · 17/12/2007 20:39

Hah! Ds tries to pretend he doesn't understand his name, understands no (especially with a ticking off finger too) and definitely understands 'daddy's home' but still isn't remotely close to a mama or dada in the right directions. He does sing very sweetly though

Dp currently very annoyed due to last minute BBC schedule changes depriving him of Nigella

No recognisable words here yet, although she did copy me earlier with "ffff" when I said "off!" to the dog

AwayinaMargoNooNooCribForABed · 17/12/2007 22:25

FGS - It's so worrying when one so little is ill. I think your offer of food and babysitting will help her tremendously

jabberwocky · 18/12/2007 00:59

FGS, very impressed on the speech. Ds2 will occasionally come out with what we think are words but then it's hard to get a repeat performance so I think it may be lucky babbling.

Terrible news about your friend Babysitting and food are great ideas. Our ped is going thru this w/ her 2 year old and she said kids bounce back from chemo really quickly. Let's hope that's true as well for one that young.

SantaF · 18/12/2007 11:58

Ds does babble mamama and dadada, sometimes randomly and sometimes appropriately, it's hard to know if it IS talking or not. He's not interested in sign language atm, maybe I should stop interpreting his crying so well!
I think knowing someone is there who can look after the older kids will be a great help, FGS

Indith · 19/12/2007 21:48

2 babies in one house cause mayhem

My friend is here with her (walking) 13 month old. The mess the 2 small ones create together is amazing! Although my friend's dd aaaaaaaaaaaas is helping me type, (as you can tell) as she is now high on medised which seems to be great for her teething but failing at the knocking her out part.

Ah well she is very cute.

OP posts:
jabberwocky · 19/12/2007 23:54

So what's in medised? I read about it all the time on here but it's not in the US

Can't believe how quiet the thread is...guess holidays are in full swing everywhere.

FrostyGlassSlipper · 20/12/2007 09:15

I'm still here

Been a busy week.

Jabber - here is medised

My friends little boy is still in hospital. His chemo starts on Friday. She is bearing up remarkably well.

DDs are same as ever. Adorable and infuriating in equal measures.

castlesintheair · 20/12/2007 09:34

Hi all, I'm still here but very busy. Only 1.5 days and it's the end of term. Yee ha

I need to buy DD2 some shoes but it doesn't seem right as she's still so tiny. Big for her age (probably) but still tiny in my eyes.

Gloria42 · 20/12/2007 10:55

I'm here too, lurking at work. Almost sorted for Christmas and Birthday, but DS is teething again and has a cough which kept him up half the night then after some Medised he slept until 7.30 which made me late for work!

Anyone else find their LOs get hyper after dose of Medised?

babypowder · 20/12/2007 10:56

DD2 is 1 today! Unbelievable. We woke up this morning and realised that, although all of hte Christmas gifts are wrapped, we had neither written a birthday card nor wrapped any birthday presents. Oops DD1 was beside herself. (She's quite right, though. What kind of parents are we?!)

babypowder · 20/12/2007 10:57

Gloria, DD1 gets hyper after we give her any antihistamines. She becomes quite unbearable, until she collapses!

castlesintheair · 20/12/2007 11:03

Happy Birthday baby Babypowder!

Was it you that had the rash all over the body thing BP? Did you ever get to the bottom of it? DD2 has it all over and I'm thinking it might be new fabric conditioner. Slapped Aquaeous cream on last night and it's improved moderately.

spina · 20/12/2007 11:47

Happy birthday baby babypowder!!

FGS, hope you're friend's lo is back on the mend soon. it puts the sleepless nights and (very) stropy 4yr old in perspective.

I've got some bug at moment so am off work. Really must try to be productive and write the last few cards and wrap a few more presents while I've got the house to myself.DH wanted to invite some friends around for drinks tmw evening. I agreed on the promise we would try to tidy up a bit each evening.I'm bored with my epic tidying/cleaning on my"mummy" days(Not a chance. The house is a total tip and not just cos I'm ill)

accessorizewithbabysick · 20/12/2007 12:24

Aww, happy bday baby bp. We forgot card until the very last minute too! With their birthdays so close together it's impossible to remember everything. I am I think done now, have today off work and went to Tesco etc, now cleaning kitchen out before I can put shopping away! Feeling finally relieved now that birthdays & party finished with and ds2 at last is perky again.Must remember next year to be more sorted by 1st of December so I can actually enjoy Christmas!
I get a full body rash from anything biological castles, and some of those fabric softeners have some nasty stuff in them too so it wouldn't surprise me. I stick to ecover for both and I & the ds's are fine.
Find it v.hard to think of watching my 6 mo son in hospital having chemo, don't know how she does it fgs. I hope the prognosis is good?

babypowder · 20/12/2007 13:45

We never did get to the bottom of the rash, although I remain convinced that it was hand foot and mouth. She wasn't bothered by it, so we didn't worry. Rashes seem to be symptomtic of allergies, viruses, bad moods, teething, etc.

The birthday girl has suddenly developed D&V, oh joy, so she may not get any cake tonight

accessorizemybaublessanta · 20/12/2007 19:40

OH, dear - what's d&v, bp? How did rest of the day go?
