Ooh how rude sorry Anonmum! I have just ds who's 7 months (april 15), and we live in West Berkshire.

Ds is having serious food issues. For the last 5 days he's started sobbing his heart out at dinner time, it started when we offered him a home made beef dinner.... he was doing well with lumpy food but now he won't touch it and cries and cries and he won't eat meat at all either. He will also only eat rusks for finger food... tried him with some banana 2 days ago and he threw it at me - so I tried putting him it in his mouth and he spat it at me!

TracyK · 19/11/2004 18:38

All you guys with feding probs are a couple of weeks behind me - so I can tell you there is light at the end of the tunnel. My ds was EXACTLY the same for a couple of weeks. Went from smooth jars to lumpy - all going fine, then went off lumpy went back to jars and back again. Then no to spoons (unless pudding) - only taking finger foods eithre feeding himself or me using my fingers. Hardly getting any quantity in him at all resulting in night wakings.
But now 4 teeth have appeared on the top and he's feeding like a little horse.

hewlettsdaughter · 19/11/2004 19:13

MrsD, those pics are beautiful - I particularly like the one of you and dd with the leaves and berries.
anonmum - I live in Oxford, like MrsD (in fact we have met up as a result of meeting on here). I have a ds (5) and a dd who was born 18 Apr.
Hi TracyK - welcome to the thread. Glad to hear the teething hasn't been too bad so far (apart from the feeding probs - you think they were related to the teeth then?)

TracyK · 19/11/2004 19:26

I reckon it was to do with teething as now they're through - he's gone back to being ok again.

hewlettsdaughter · 19/11/2004 19:39

DD seems to have been teething on and off for about 3 months but still has no obvious tooth (although you can see them under the gum).

TracyK · 19/11/2004 20:28

same as ds and then all of a sudden one appeared quickly followed by a second. about a month later top ones appeared too - more diff to see though as they didn't poke down from the bottom of the gum ifykwim, more come forward through the front of the gum - so only saw them by chance a couple of days ago!

anonmum · 19/11/2004 21:56

mrs doolittle your web site is FAB - Little miss is very cute

MrsDoolittle · 19/11/2004 22:39

Thank you very much Ladies! Entirely due to my modest, very talented dh. I will rent him out by the way
Should we be smug because the poor old March thread had died and we are still going strong?
We won't mention those May mummies though - they think they are so cool

Tickle · 19/11/2004 22:46

hi - bit of catching up to do as usual I can see!

Hello to the new ones - to recap:
dh & I have
dd (will be 6 in Jan)
ds just 4
dd2 April 5th.

We moved from Battersea a couple of years ago to a remote spot in Cornwall, but in Feb this yr moved to a small island in Denmark.

Dot - ds was weezy as a baby and we got a humidifier for the bedroom - it helps at this time of year with central heating etc - hope it's not too bad.

MrsD - lovely pics I'm a vote for the quiet scenic life I'm afraid, altho it sounds a bit tough re your dp's work...

On feeding, dd2 seems to sleep through IF she eats avocado in the evening, so I am stuffing avo in as fast as it can go

Congrats to all those babies with teeth and amazing mobility (ie childproof-testing) skills ;) dd2 has no teeth yet, and no mobility, but both suit me fine

It's ds I'm having problems with, as he is very anti-me at the mo. It has been going on for a while, and in every picture he draws me with a sad face and everyone else with a smile. Am I really such a miserable old boot in his eyes??

MrsDoolittle · 19/11/2004 22:50

anonmum - I live in Oxford, a couple of miles from HD I discovered MN in March when I was pregnant for the first time. My first posts were on this thread when I was panicking because I thought I was conntracting. The rest is history....
I have dd who was born Easter Saturday - April 10. That's it really - I just tend to rant on and on you'll pick up the rest...

Fennel · 20/11/2004 09:15

anonmum, I have dd1 age 4.5, dd2 age 3.3, and dd3 age 7 months this week.

dd3 is still eating nearly everything I offer, apart from my lovely lentil curry mixture which she hates. but she's not teething at the moment.

tickle about your ds. I have far less patience with my middle child since I had dd3.

TracyK · 20/11/2004 11:49

Hey tickle - any recipe ideas I can pinch for avocados? I've only done cheese and avo sandwiches for ds.

anonmum · 20/11/2004 21:04

To everyone,
thanks for the info - my ds no 1 is 9 and ds no2 is 7 months was due on the 10th of apr - but did not appear till the 25th - late just like my no 1 who was 16 days late.

Anonmum - we've got ds1 who will be 3 in 3 weeks! And ds2 who is just over 7 months - born April 9th. ooh - and today he's started clapping!! Been showing him for a few days and today he's got the hang of it! No sign of crawling yet, or cruising - he likes standing up but it's funny, we're in no hurry to show him he could actually move - too many of ds1's toys around to destroy..!

ds1's now poorly - threw up last night - typical, as ds2 slept through for just about the first time... One day we'll get them both sleeping for 12 hours - it WILL happen...!

mamated · 21/11/2004 14:45

Hey dot 1 - my ds no.2 was born april 9th!!! He started to clap last week, but is showing no sign of anything else, content to just roll on to his side and gurgle! He won't attempt to roll on to tummy or anything else, much slower than big brother but I think I am more patient this time as yes, too many of ds no.1's toys to destroy.

dolbear · 21/11/2004 20:23

Mrs D , v cute - u have inspired me to do it myself now !!

dot1 · 22/11/2004 09:11

HURRAH!!!!!!! Ds slept through until 7.15am!!!! After months and months of 5am wake ups, he's slowly been edging towards 7am - quite often waking at 6am/6.30am. But today was the first time he made it to 7am!

I know, he'll probably never do it again, but I'm sooooooo relieved - you kind of start thinking you'll never be able to get more than 6 hours sleep ever again..!

Chuffed · 22/11/2004 10:06

Yay dot.
Well I'm at home again starting to feel a bit guilty over work, I've had 3 days off for dd being unwell since October. We went back to the dr's this morning and as it had been 2 wks without her being much better and she hasn't eaten anything for a week except a tiny bit of baby muesli in the morning, nasty cough and pouring nose. We now have some antibiotics.

LucyJones · 22/11/2004 10:34

Hi! Chuffed - so sorry to hear your dd is so unwell. Don't worry about work, it's not your fault and they should understand that this happens. Dot - fabulous news about your ds sleeping through. My ds is also all snotty but he doesn't seem to mind, although he hates having his nose wiped which makes me laugh - he's turning into a right little boy already

MrsDoolittle · 22/11/2004 10:44

Great news dot! Maybe you'll get a lie-in next weekend!
Chuffed - Sorry about your dd. I have felt guilty about being at home before but I tell myself that she is my priority now and everyone should understand that.
Lucyjones - dd is snotty too. She hates her nose being wiped too and cries everytime, although this has got better now following an entire weekend of wiping. Dd has not slept very well this weekend due largely to the fact she has been blocked. I bought some medised but she refused point blank to take it, she takes Calpol no problem. Any hints anyone?
Anyway she does seem a little better this morning.
When I dropped her off at nursery this morning she suddenly came over all shy with her nursery nurse. She has never done that before, but this morning she just buried her head in my shoulder when the girl spoke to her. I know she's fine because she was also grinning but it's wierd isn't it?

LucyJones · 22/11/2004 10:46

Hi MrsD! Perhaps it's getting time for separation anxiety? I thik that's meant to start around the 8 month mark isn't it? Isn't it lovely that we have all this to look forward to

MrsDoolittle · 22/11/2004 11:19

Wouldn't surprise me Lucyjones. Dd has started getting upset everytime I leave the room recently, eventhough I call out to her as I leave. Well atleast I can just pop her into to her posh new Tripp Trapp and talk to her while I'm in the kitchen now
Fennl - you are right the Tripp Trapp is fab, she looks so comfortable in it. I got the cherry wood one, it's lovely. Even dh is impressed - miracle!

handlemecarefully · 22/11/2004 12:06

Just caught up on all posts since last Wednesday (when I last posted).

Dot - I'm sure your ds smells lovely! Don't worry unduly about the wheezing...my dd seemed to get really wheezy and rhaspy as a baby whenever she got a cold (so much so, that I took her to A&E in the middle of the night once), but she seems not be affected in the same way now she is a little bit older (2.4)...

Chuffed, hope you had a lovely time in NY - sorry to hear that little dd is unwell. Keep us posted on how she is doing, and try not to worry too much...

Anonmum, I live between Southampton and Salisbury and have a 2.4 year old dd and a 7 month old ds

Eating and teething - my ds is very off his food at the moment, and I also suspect it has something to do with teething since he has shocking nappy rash and 2 teeth are beginning to appear in his bottom gum.

Crawling - ds has been 'crawling' for a while now, but its not a conventional crawl ; he pulls himself forward with his arms but hardly uses the lower half of his body (looks like he has been shot in the legs!). Dd isn't very amused with him, since he will motor over to her and start chewing her puzzles etc.

handlemecarefully · 22/11/2004 12:07

Oh and I forgot to say Mrs D that your dd looks adorable!
