Evening everyone hope you're all OK
And goodnight x

Just been skimming the FranLyon thread. That's so sad .

Good to hear Vio is doing ok. She sounds an amazing woman.

Just watched Secret Millionaire and it was v v touching . Lovely ex-East End millionaire helped a struggling Dance school, a girl in the School who was from a single parent family go to Stage School and a mum who was 8months pregnant herself and running a charity for single mums.

liath · 07/11/2007 22:20

GMM!

PeshaCake · 07/11/2007 22:46

Would love to join secret santa but as I'm not even getting dp a xmas pressie (nor him me) due to lack of funds i think he might be a tad miffed!

Talking of xmas pressies sil is being a --FPITA again. For her ds' birthday she sent dp a text saying J would like item no. x from page x of the argos book for his birthday At dd's party she approached dp again and told him we could get J some dinosaur thing from matalan that is bogof so will only cost us £8. She told dp's mum that they have written a list of what he wants and worked out what everyone can give him so shes getting him a sand pit. If thats ok. And then emailed her the details of the exact one he requires Dp's step dad said 'well you better email her back and ask what else he likes cos we aint getting that!!' I cannot believe the cheek of the bloody woman. When i am asked what my dc want I say well their into transformers/spiderman/bratz/whatever or they need clothes or arts and crafts stuff or whatever and just give an idea as a guide. Buying presents is supposed to be fun imo, its about choosing a gift you think they will like and seeing the excitement on thier face as they open it and feeling all nice and fuzzy thinking that was me that made them happy! Not just paying for a pre selected item! I'm so fucking angry I would never dare to be so rude.

Shes also made no mention of her baby and what he wants but we're not going to ask, we'll just buy whatever takes our fancy!

I cant decide if I will text her and say sorry but we'd really like to be able to choose him a gift so could she give us a more general idea or whether just to get something else and say nothing. Or - evil thought - whether to get the dinosaur thing thats 2 for 1 and keep the extra one for nathan and thank her for pointing the offer out

But that is the thing her 2 dss are the same ages as mine so there may well be gifts which are part of an offer that would do hers and mine iyswim.

Last year she gave dp's mum a list with a few choices of presents (with page and item no.s from argos!) but not 1 of them was under about £30!

God she makes me mad!!!!

And breeeeeaaaaaaaaattthhhhe!

PeshaCake · 07/11/2007 22:47

they're

PillockOfTheCommunity · 07/11/2007 22:58

I've just been reading that too tc, and the thread Vio started today, really does make you appreciate just how lucky we are, I am sharing my bed with both my beautiful boys tonight cos I need them close

runnyhabbit · 07/11/2007 23:18

Evening all

We've booked our family holiday for next year Going to Puerto Pollensa in Majorca for 10 nights half board here
So excited, the last we went abroad was for our honeymoon 4 years ago!

Dh has decided that he's got this viral thing that the boys have had How can men just decided that they're ill?

Am going to be treating myself to some new underwired bras as W has decided that he only wants bf morning and night. No milk at all during the day, as long as he has his 3 proper meals. J was exactly the same.
The only thing is, after Susannah and Trinny tonight, I'm going to have to make sure I get the right size lol (so won't be going to M&S then)

elkiedee · 07/11/2007 23:31

SOL, the cheek of your boss! Glad to hear that you're planning to stick to your 3 day week. It's not just childcare, it's travel time and everything as well, isn't it?

Pesha, your sil sounds very annoying. I think all of your ideas sound like good options, although the bogof offer only sounds any good of course if you like the dinosaur thing she's seen in Matalan for your Nathan. I've found some lovely dinosaur clothes for D.

Talking of offers, my local Mothercare is offering buy 1 get 1 half price on some toys, presumably its own. Also similar offer on packs of sleepsuits and vests for a while now, still there on Monday this week. And Nature Babies disposable nappies and related stuff is 25% off (very pleasing as that was what I was buying this week).

Maveta · 08/11/2007 07:30

Morning! Was still pretty quiet on here last night in the end, hey? Pesha at your SIL, what a cheek! I´ve done the exact opposite, my mum asked me to let them know what N needs for xmas and I just said to get him whatever they want, it is xmas and perfect for pointless toys/ games that no one really needs We´re really broke this year aswell. Told my sister last night I don´t think we can do presents which she was fine with, but she sounded a bit put out that I asked her not to buy us anything either (except N). She just loves buying presents but it would make me feel awful to receive without giving. I know it looks really weird that I say we are broke and then we are going to Barcelona and Madrid but both trips have each cost less than 100 quid all in and Barcelona is my 30th birthday present and Madrid is for dhs band so all of his costs will be reimbursed.(defensive, moi?)

Dh is quite down today, had an up and down night with N. On one hand he slept from about 1am to 5am which was a good 4 hours (in our bed) but then the rest of the time he was full on screaming. He was such an easy newborn until he was about 3 months old and dh just said this morning that it just feels like it´s getting harder and harder, not the other way round like everyone says it will go. It´s a growth spurt, or teething, now a cold, what next? Will he ever sleep (almost) through the night again? Or just not CRY so much?

Maveta · 08/11/2007 07:33

oh, sorry got carried away talking about myself again... SOL at your boss, that´s really rubbish leaving it so late and then just expecting you to sort it out.

I saw Vio´s thread too, I think of her and James, it is so sad but she does sound like an amazing woman who is trying so hard to be positive. I wish her many many happy things to come.

Runny - great news about the holiday, when is it? Will be nice to have something like that to look forward to. You´ll have to get in touch and we can meet up!

oooggs · 08/11/2007 07:45

Just to keep you abreast of what has been going on in the oooggs household I have copied these from the multiple thread - I needed specific help from multiple mums - there are some things you lot can't really help me with

By oooggs on Wed 07-Nov-07 11:53:17

hi all - just rang the hv really struggling at night and haven't a clue, she probably won't either, but at least I have warned them that I am loosing it

I also am feeling very ungrateful this morning nice house (which we worked hadr for) 3 healthy children, supportive loving husband and a grea job (when I return) so why am I feeling so shit unhappy and down and wishing that the dts were only 1 baby???????

By oooggs on Wed 07-Nov-07 16:20:11

ok controlled crying with dts in same room (they both need it) anyone done it? how did you do it? did it work? - in fact don't answer that one

By oooggs on Thu 08-Nov-07 07:36:20

bed by 6.45pm, woke at 4.10am (so I fed them) dt2 back to sleep til 7.15am, dt1 fussing a bit and came in with me for a snuggle at 6am and she fell back asleep.

StealthPolarBear · 08/11/2007 07:54

Morning everyone
oooggs, sorry I don't have any advice, hpoefully your HV will, or another twin mummy will have done cc and be able to give you some advice. It sounds so hard

Sexonlegs · 08/11/2007 08:13

Morning all.

Runny your holiday sounds fab. Dh proposed to in Puerto Pollensa in 1998!

Oooggs, I am so sorry you are having such a rough time. I hope someone can help. x

Elkie, my point exactly re the travelling to work. It is 12 miles each way, so not like it is just down the road!

Right, need to run as have to get B dressed for school. Sorry for lck of personals, will be back later.

elkiedee · 08/11/2007 09:40

oooggs, sorry you're feeling so down and struggling. Hearing what you and khin are going through makes me think there's a need for some kind of quite locally accessible help targeted at those of you coping with twins (or more) particularly as you have another very young one too.

elkiedee · 08/11/2007 09:48

Apologies for self absorbed self pitying stuff below, I'm having a bad day today, tell me I'll get through this and come out the other side again.

I know I only have one baby to deal with and he's lovely and I have a lot of help and support available to me. But a build up of rows and tiredness and lack of having much planned for today and yesterday has left me feeling really really sad and weepy for the last couple of days.

It's dp's first day back at his substantive post, in a residential home as opposed to being a union rep, today. He also has an evening meeting with his union rep hat on. This afternoon I will take D to meet a second prospective childminder and then my dad's coming round for a couple of hours late afternoon. Then next week Thursday is the only day when I don't have some going out or socialising planned. So I have to get through the morning, and hopefully be ready to go to see childminder not looking totally depressed and crazy.

StealthPolarBear · 08/11/2007 10:04

You will elkie
Can you just get out for a walk? Go to a local shop and have D cooed over by old ladies? (That always makes me feel better )
Any chance you and DP can go out on your own any time soon just to have a chance to talk things over and spend some time alone together?

CaptainDippy · 08/11/2007 10:30

@ your Boss, SOL & @ your SIL, Pesha ......

Feeling very "blobby" today ..... muscles ache, tired, sick, knackered .....

Sorry self-absorbed .....

StealthPolarBear · 08/11/2007 10:37

CD you've been feeling ill for a while haven't you? Is it general exhaustion?

Sexonlegs · 08/11/2007 10:38

Elkie, hang on in there. You are doing such a wonderful job. I too think you and dp need to have some time out together.

CD, sorry you re feeling rough. Medised!!!!????

I am so (and apologies as I am going to swear) FUCKING pissed off with my boss. I actually feel like tellng him where to stick the job. I spent 2 years before mat leave working 3 days a week, have been incredibly flexible whilst on mat leave, and now with less than a month to go before my return he is questioning it all.

So so angry and disappointed, and also bloody upset by it all.

Sorry for the self absorbed rant.

Hope everyone is ok. xx

CaptainDippy · 08/11/2007 10:40

I don't mean this in an offensive way, but Elkie honey - you are a slightly 'older' mum too so you are bound to be more tired and finding parenthood a real challenge and a real strain - You've had a flourishing career for many years now and you have grown used to the way life was and now that has all changed - Much harder for you than for me who never even got the 'career thing' off the ground before sprogging! Don't be too hard on yourself - you are doing sooooo well. xx

My SIL is expecting Baby # 1, due on DH's Birthday next year!

SOL - He can't question YOU - like you said - YOU ARE the HR manager - don't ditch a job you have worked hard at sweetie - Rise above him - he is a man and he just doesn't "git it", iykwim!!? xx

Sexonlegs · 08/11/2007 11:11

I know CD, but if the business needs are there, then I don't have a leg to stand on. He is chatting with the senior managers as we speak I think. If K was to go in for a 3rd day at nursery, it would cost be another 160 quid a month. I can't do it.

runnyhabbit · 08/11/2007 11:26

sol what a fucking pain in the arse you boss is! as CD said, men just don't get it. But surely, even your boss isn't as stupid to try and tell you the HR manager this a few wks before you start back? What is it with these bosses?

maveta we are flying out on the Friday 9th May. Scary to think that our babies will be 1 year old by then! Def meet up though

elkie you will get through it because us mums are amzing creatures. I had an almighty breakdown last Thursday night (resulted in me physically attacking dh and walking out at midnight) Saw my very nice doc who was fab, and we had a good chat (she doesn't think it's pnd, perhaps v bad pmt, so am monitoring it) Maybe you should speak to an understanding health professional?

have just found a bit of porridge in my hair....nice
