DynamiteDaisy · 11/11/2007 12:59

yup trace, still on....but the brownies will be finished at tea-time tonight...he he!

DynamiteDaisy · 11/11/2007 13:01

I've got one tots bots and I quite like it. It looks a bit bulky, but not too bad. DDs bambinex and baby beehinds are best for least bluk!

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 11/11/2007 13:06

Bumper, not sure what happened there. I definitely wrote a message to you, but you're right, the sent version is blank. Will redo in a bit.

We're using tots bots, simply because we got given () 11 size 1 and 25 size 2 nappies. Agree they're a bit big, but work OK so we're using them - though haven't got to needing the size 2 ones quite yet.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 11/11/2007 15:53

What a productive afternoon. I've steamed, pureed (separately) a swede, a butternut squash and half a cauliflower, and frozen it all as ice cubes.

OP posts:
HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 11/11/2007 16:00

That's nice Jammy - we have a feast in our freezer of ice cubs of cauliflower, peas, carrot, courgette, cabbage, potatoe, mango, apple and pear....and I just get 3 or 4 our for each meal....mine however are just leftovers or extra that I've cooked.

I've also rediscovered cooking recently...DH came home to duck in plum sauce the other night, lemon cheesecake...sticky lemon chicken....mmmm

No longer though....I've just steam cleaned my oven and disconnected the washing machine....arrgggghhhh what am I going to eat for the next 2 weeks!

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 11/11/2007 16:02

Going out to see lots of friends these next 2 weeks and taking a bag of washing with me

God, my spelling is crap this afternoon

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 11/11/2007 16:08

Hi Norty. HOw are you?

OP posts:
HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 11/11/2007 16:18

Hello! I'm fine....got a disgusting kitchen to clean up a bit....busy dismantling it...although builders not starting till Wednesday now!

So DD is doing well with her food then by the sounds of it?

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 11/11/2007 16:24

Yes. She's only had a little at a time so far (1 cube), but yesterday she had 2 cubes for lunch and took all of that well, and polished off a good half banana this morning with no trouble (other than getting upset in between mouthfuls waiting for me to get more onto the spoon!) so looks like she'll be wanting 2 (oe more) cubes at a time now. She's got some butternut squash to try later too.

OP posts:
nowbringussomeJammypudding · 11/11/2007 16:25

And good luck with the kitchen. Hope all goes smoothly with the refit.

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 11/11/2007 16:26

My DD likes mashed up banana....how will I know when she is ready to be given a lump of it I wonder? Or half a rusk? I saw some sugar and gluten free rusks in Tesco's yesterday and it says they dissolve but am not sure how old she should be...she's only 3 weeks off 6 months.

How many meals a day are you giving her Jammy?

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 11/11/2007 16:27

fingers crossed that someone buys my beautiful cooker - finishes on e-bay in about an hour and a half...spent all day cleaning it so its not going to the tip!

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 11/11/2007 16:36

Up until yesterday just one meal a day. Today will be the first day with 2 meals. I was wondering the same thing about banana. I guess that if you can do BLW weaning from 6 months then it'll be OK (if messy) to give her a chunk of banana or whatever to suck on. Amazingly that's only a few weeks away.

OP posts:
nowbringussomeJammypudding · 11/11/2007 16:37

When did you start giving her solids? It's only been a week here.

OP posts:
HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 11/11/2007 16:39

That's how I done it Jammy, and week 3 started giving 3 meals a day. She loves it now and has 4 cubes at lunchtime feed. I would love to give her a bit of banana but will worry I think and worry if she heaves / chokes...need to read a bit on it I think.

LO has hardly slept at all today....very unusual for her...currently watching footie with her dad...perhaps that'll get her off

Right off to clean some more....god what a fun life I lead.....

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 11/11/2007 16:41

She's been on solids 4 weeks now, so at about 19 weeks IIRC....she eats properly now (most of the time) rather than spitting it, rolling it around her mouth etc

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 11/11/2007 17:13

Well, butternut squash was VERY popular

OP posts:
HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 11/11/2007 18:29

YAY someone bought my cooker for £112! Brilliant...and its going Tuesday!

Jammy.....what did you do with the butternut squash then? (I've never cooked it)...

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 11/11/2007 19:46

When I've cooked it in the past for DH & me, I've skinned it and cubed it and roasted it. But for DD I prepared it the same but then steamed the cubes, before pureeing them.

OP posts:
FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 11/11/2007 19:46

Hi everyone

Sounds like I've had a similar day to you, Jammy - lots of seaming and pureeing/mashing! I peel the squash, cut it into chunks and then steam it until it's soft. I've also been mashing rather than pureeing as DS doesn't seem bothered by a few tiny lumps so I thought it was probably good for him to have some texture. The butternut squash was a big hit. I mixed it with a bit of formula powder, some baby rice and a little bit of the cooking water and he chomped through the lot.

We had tears from him at lunch today when he wasn't getting anything so I gave him a rice cake to suck on. He didn't get much in but seemed to enjoy it. I've also given him chunks of rusk to munch on. Not much goes in but he seems to enjoy sucking them into submission! i'm not going to give him chunks of banana yet, as I don't think he's quite ready for that.

DynamiteDaisy · 11/11/2007 19:54

hey guys...

Trace, have sent you a message....I'm going to have to cancel tomorrow. My mum has taken a turn for the worse so the DCs and I are off up there tomorrow for the week. DH is going to join us on Thursday.

My sis phoned this evening and said that we should get up there sooner rather than later . I was going to wait till Wednesday or Thursday, but other than school, there's nothing keeping us here. I'm sure DS will be able to catch up.
